Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.
A man who would refuse to exercise his limbs would soon lose all
power to use them. – Steps to Christ, pg. 81
One, then ten, then one hundred, then one thousand, and
finally a million weeds were pulled out of the close to twenty acres of
carrot fields. When I realized there were no more weeds to pull, the
summer had come to an end.

If you were to look over the vast carrot fields, you would see
that they were full of lovely shades of colour, forming a sea of green
before your eyes. In the background, the majestic mountains would
tower. Just beyond them, the sun would rise lazily, which would add to
the whole picture a bit of orange. Far away, you would see light shining
through a thin layer of fog that covered the carrot fields below, and all
the morning dew would reflect the light like diamonds.
But this was not the pretty picture I experienced; no, it was
not like this at all. Instead, I had been stuck robotically weeding in the
muddy fields for the past hour by the time the sunlight finally managed
to reach me. It was summer, but I was feeling chilly in the morning air.
Every time I pulled a weed, I could feel the cold liquid from
the leaves flow onto my arms. The dew simply made my work harder,
but that was not all. Later on, the sun rose higher and higher, and it
got hotter and hotter. Sometimes the temperature rose to over one
hundred degrees Fahrenheit. Weeding is hard.
Yes, weeding is tough, but weeds are popping up in my heart
every day and I need to clear them out. If I choose to ignore them, I
will soon find myself with a heart full of weeds, and I will not be able to
even move my fingers between the weeds anymore to remove them.
Thankfully, I can always ask for strength from God to eliminate the
weeds permanently.
