Jeanne: [00:00:07] Hello and welcome back everybody to Naturally High. This is our fifth and final episode in our five part mini series on the ROI, the Return on Investment on Recovery, how to cash in on the hidden assets of self-healing and sobriety. So we've talked about what it really takes to change and how we have challenges and obstacles in our life, which is really part of what life's supposed to be. Some reason we seem to think that life should be easy. We've been deluded into thinking that by having all the comforts that are available to us, but that's not what makes us grow. That's not what makes us become the best self-actualized version of ourselves. It's through our challenges and the obstacles in life, which I call our spiritual curriculum or our unique curriculum, for each and every one of us, which makes us become the best version of us. But what happens is we think that these challenges are happening to us, not for us. And so we take it very personally, and we don't always handle them as well as we can. And that's just part of who we are as humans. We're raised to feel comfortable, we're actually biologically wired to feel comfortable, and we will repel from discomfort, which is one of the reasons why people, I think, stay in many maladaptive behaviours and things that really don't serve them because they just don't know how to make that switch from discomfort to comfort.
Jeanne: [00:01:34] And so we get in our own way, we become paralyzed and stuck, and we don't know how to unlock ourselves from that. In this episode, we're going to step into your future self and embody the vision that you actually want to embody, which is hopefully your desires. What are your dreams? Have you ever given yourself permission to dream? Have you ever thought that you can have what you want? Have you given yourself permission of dreaming a life that is abundant and worthy of your dreams and goals? I know for me that when I first started that my dreams were really small. My goals were really small. I didn't think based on the version of who I thought I was, which was looking in my rearview mirror at the past, that I could have dreams as big as I wanted them to be. And as my growth and healing happened, the version of who I am today has a healthier self-esteem, so therefore has healthier goals and dreams. And that's available for you as well. So I want you to really give some thought that if you could have anything you wanted in life, forget the how, forget the money, the practical side of these things. What would you ask for? What would you go for? Because there's some sort of hint that this is really where you want to be in life, and you don't have to have the whole plan figured out. You only have to have the next step figured out.
Jeanne: [00:03:04] And I think for a lot of us, we think that these dreams and goals are available to other people, but not ourselves. Because when we look at our feedback in our life, which is our results, we're either going to win or we're going to learn. So all you have to do is look at where you are in your life, whether it's your relationships, your career, your academics, your health, your weight. You can fill in the blank with anything you want. It could even be your relationship with substances or any maladaptive behaviour, for that matter. That's an indication of where you're at mentally. That's an indication of how you… how conscious you are because these are the results you're getting. So if you want to change our results, we have to look at where we want to go rather than where we've been. And that's the first step. And we often don't recognize that this is just the foundation for the next step. So instead we end up really not trying because we think it's not on our radar. It's not available for us in this lifetime, and this is the only lifetime you're going to get in this physical form. So why wouldn't you want to live the best life ever? My dad always used to say to me, this is not a dress rehearsal. Absolutely not. This is your only rodeo in this physical form. So make it the best possible.
Jeanne: [00:04:24] And if we understand what it takes for us to change, then we can just sequentially, all we have to do is get to the next step. And that's what NLP is about. Neuro Linguistic Program is a model of excellence. Because what we're saying here is that if you do this formula, you will get predictable results. So change is available to everyone. It's just whether or not you make the decision to take it. And are you going to follow the steps to stay the course when it gets challenging? Because life will be difficult and most people really think of themselves and where they're going by looking in their rearview mirror. They're not looking at their present self now, looking into who they want to be in the future. So the small trick is if we could be our future self now, who… How would I show up in life? So let's use an example. If you're someone in early recovery and you're suddenly wanting to make a change, you may not see yourself as a person who you desire to be right now. You may still be looking at yourself, not using substances from the person you were in the past. You may see yourself as a person who has a bit of a messy history around certain things, and you may have remorse or regret. Shame, possibly. And it may not be anything other than just facts. It just was.
Jeanne: [00:05:47] It doesn't mean that who you are or who you continue to be. It's just that we're in a transition and we're not what we used to be, and we're not where we want to be. So we wonder how we're going to get there because our values and our belief systems have now been challenged. What we always knew to be true, which was that past version of yourself, worked for you back then, but who you are in this moment is not going to take you to where you want to be in the future. That's being turned upside down. So what we thought was important to us, we recognized, is no longer valuable in our life, especially maladaptive behaviours, alcohol, substances, any toxic perfectionism, or whatever. You can fill in the blank, whatever you want. So this is where we have to start. But if you're always looking in that rear view mirror and you're looking up and thinking, oh my goodness, like, I can't get past this because of, maybe there's natural consequences from your addiction. Maybe, you know, unfortunately, there could be DUIs, it could be health issues, it could be financial issues, there could be relationship issues. Oh my goodness. You know, there's issues. The point is you get to start again from this minute by making a different choice. You can't undo yesterday. So there's really no purpose in going back. So if you want to get to where you want to be, you've got to start with this present moment and you choose in this moment as to how you are going to show up.
Jeanne: [00:07:13] And if you want to be moving towards something and that person is someone different than yourself, now you have to look at what are they doing to be successful. How did they get there? What are the habits? What are the decisions those people make? Because that is where your clues are. It's really that simple. And I'm going to remind those about being your own science experiment. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by just trying. Because if you're not happy with where you are in life or you're moving towards something different and more expensive, then there's no reason for you guys not to try. Because only you are going to be the beneficiary of your efforts, right? It's not me. It's you. So why wouldn't you do that? By focusing on the present moment and what you desire, you become more conscious of who you are and what you have to be and do in order to achieve that. So that brings you into the moment. And then the past really pulls us back in a very negative depressive way, I think. Repressive and depressive, where the future is moving towards, it's much more exciting. You're moving towards something that really excites you. So if we look at recovery this way, it's the same thing. Most people look at recovery as what they're giving up.
Jeanne: [00:08:32] Well, they've got to give up substances. They've got to give up this. But they don't look at what they're gaining. If they focused on what they were gaining, they would actually be happier because they're gaining way more than they're ever given up. So this is how I want you to approach your whole life is not just in recovery, but in other areas where, what is it that you want to move towards? What is it that you desire, what is available? And if you're feeling overwhelmed by that question, as I was when I was first introduced to that concept years ago, then basically what you need to do is you just need to sit with it and keep coming back to it. Because as you dream of what is possible for you, because you've never given yourself permission to dream, you'll find that there's more capacity to receive some ideas and creations that you would really love to achieve in your life. While you're here in this physical form. So we create our future from the present, not from our past. And I just want you, if you take anything away, please make that a mantra for yourself. Because if you can constantly think about the moment now and in front, then you'll be further ahead. If we have the ability to choose how we think, there's a saying is, if we're conscious, we're choosing what we want to think, which means we're being intentional.
Jeanne: [00:09:49] And it's actually evidence-based facts that we want to focus on what we want, not what we don't want. So too often people say they don't want to focus on being depressed, having no money, but yet all they can think about is the fact that they don't have any money. And so what happens? That's again, going back into the past and it pulls us into that depressive, negative emotional stuckness, which won't allow us to move towards what we want. So we really need to focus on what are our desires, what are our dreams? What does that look like? Is it a country home? Is it a relationship? Is it a higher education? Is it a health goal? It could be in any domain in your life. Whatever it is that you want. You get to test it. And as we move towards declaring that, you'll see more red cars like you guys know that theory that if we think about red cars, all of a sudden red cars are going to show up everywhere. It's because we literally become conscious to it. So it's the same with our goals. If you think about what it is your desire, you'll see more coincidences, more opportunities, and more doors literally open up to that. And then you go, oh my God, like it actually works. So this is one of the reasons why I want you to do that. And by actually trying this, it's very different to know something than to experience something.
Jeanne: [00:11:16] So we can all know that, okay, Jeanne said this is a good idea, should be my own science experiment and I'm going to try this. But you don't. So you know what it's like not to try it, but you do not have experience of it actually working and what that may look like. So for example, that you actually start seeing opportunities drop in front of you or you see people start signing up for your program, or you see people who've actually helped make a quantum leap and get unstuck, or whatever it may be. That's different because you're coming from a place of experience and you actually can understand and feel it within yourself. Like it's a visceral action of being able to feel your experience as opposed to just knowing it. So I want you to take a test drive with this because you are the beneficiary of it. So I want you to think of our mind body integration as our mind and body, not as two distinct entities, but as an integrated, fine-tuned instrument, which is really what it is. We are now recognizing that our mind could be in our brain or in our heart, rather, and our stomach, rather than just up here in our brain, like there's no border here. We're all one. It flows in and out. That mind flows to the heart. The heart flows up to the mind.
Jeanne: [00:12:40] And so when we start to recognize that when we're not in harmony, if our body is feeling stressed and overworked and anxious, and yet we're asking for peace and our body's feeling one way and our mind's feeling another way, something's got to give in order to bring it into harmony. So I talk about this concept of getting back to neutral as quickly as you can. It's really helpful, especially in challenging times because when you're in challenging times, you want to really be able to get off that merry go round of triggers, stress, craziness and then come back into yourself, get back to neutral so that you can actually understand what is it you're really thinking, right? And so this is a real part of this. So if we look at our mind body as one vehicle, one instrument, one vessel, we start to get curious. What's going on for us in terms of our thoughts and our emotions and behaviour? But really, how integrated is our body around that? Like we may be telling ourselves, I can do this, I can do this, I can do this. But we're trembling with anxiety that we feel like we can't execute. And then we get paralyzed and then stuck, right? So how do we move beyond that when this is sort of happening and our head and our mind are not integrated? And I think really, you have to recognize that we're fine-tuning all the time as we integrate information about ourselves and the fragmented parts of ourselves that no longer serve us. As a kid who had to be the good girl and do everything, or the good boy who did everything, the overachiever for accolades because they wanted to keep their world safe.
Jeanne: [00:14:18] That's not happening anymore. So we recognize that in order to move beyond that, we have to do something different. But how can we when our physiology is literally hijacking us? So this is why nervous system regulation and being able to ground ourselves in these times is really critical because we cannot think in any other way. Okay, so understanding what's going on for us is the first part. The second part of this is what are we actually feeling? What is our energy calibrating to? Are we calibrating to a really high energetic force? Or recalibrating to like more of a fearful, anxious state? And this is why getting back to neutral is really critical, because if we want a result that's going to be different than what we've always had, we need to be calibrated on another level. Let's take a little detour for a second. I want you guys to close your eyes, and do not do this if you're driving. I want you to take a cleansing breath with me. And I want you to think of one thing that you want right now. And I just want you to put all your energy onto that very one thing.
Jeanne: [00:15:23] Maybe it can be as simple as finding some peace when you get in the door. Maybe it's not picking up tonight. Maybe it's honouring your word. Maybe it's a decision you need to make. Maybe it's a boundary you need to put in force. I want you to think of whatever it is that you desire. And I want you to move towards that. I want you to just imagine yourself sitting in the chair looking at a movie screen, and on that screen is you actually doing the very, very thing that you want. I want you to take in as much detail as possible, as if you're writing a book, and you actually had to say what the room looked like, what the light was, the furnishings, the things that were in the house and really take it in, that scene, who you are. Who's there? What are they talking about? What is going on in terms of the agenda there? Are we working? Are we playing? Are we eating? Like whatever it is that's coming up for you. And I want you to really hold it, and I want you to bring it in closer to you and bring it in. Like, think of it like a picture on a camera that's out of focus and you're going to like tighten it up so that it actually becomes more sharp. And as it becomes more sharp, check in with yourself and ask yourself how you feel right now.
Jeanne: [00:16:48] And ask yourself, what would it really be like to have this actually happen? How does that change your physiology? How does that change the pain in your body? What are you noticing? And I want you to take that all in, because there should be a physiological shift from what you feel in this moment, which is an energetic frequency which has a life force of its own that will transmit to other people and other circumstances out into the universe, which will come back to you tenfold. And I want you to notice what it feels like to be in that energy versus the energy when you first started this exercise. And note it. Now I want you to anchor that in. I want you to think really, really bring this picture really, really tight. And I want you to blink your eyes, blink your eyes and open them, blink your eyes and open them, blink your eyes and open them. Blink your eyes and open them until you can't see that picture anymore. That's what it feels like to have an embodied frequency. That's what it feels like to step into your future self. Now this is available for you. It's a muscle. It has to be cultivated. It's not going to change overnight with just one visualization and one energetic frequency shift. It has to be integrated into every fiber of your being and you start with your mind. You start with your heart.
Jeanne: [00:18:13] You start with your gut. And you let this become your guidance for what you desire. And when you start to trust this process that this is really happening for you, then it becomes easy to know that this is your new normal and you start to calibrate for success. Because when we're in flow and when we are integrated, and when you are not stressed and we can go to these states and we're not dysregulated, we've already come back to neutral because before we started this exercise, we may have felt like overwhelmed. And then we do this exercise and we come back to neutral and we're in flow. This optimizes our time, our energy, our results. Suddenly, everything opens up for us as an expansion around us and an energetic frequency around us. And this is one of many tips that you can biohack your programming for optimal results. So whether it's using NLP, whether it's somatic practices, whether it's compassion inquiry, whether it's traditional counseling, coaching, whether it's motivational interviewing, whatever, peak performance and connecting yourself and your results, these are all tools that we just use. They're one of many, many tools to become our future self now. But I guarantee you one thing, if you answered the call, which means you actually feel like you can get the results by going deep into some of these things that I'm talking about here, you'll be surprised that your life will start to manifest exactly how you want it to.
Jeanne: [00:19:53] And this is one of the reasons why you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. So if we make a habit of being in our own self inquiry process, we start to understand what's really going on for us, what's really alive for us, what are some of our dreams and passions? What are some of the things that we need to renegotiate and say no to? And what are some of the things we need to start saying yes to as well? And here's the thing. Many of us think that we make decisions at some point in our life. We can't make another one. We can, we get to choose higher quality thoughts. It's like one thought at a time. One thought at a time can raise your vibrational frequency on an emotional guidance scale and bring you to the most utmost peace and joy and fulfillment. And, but I have to say, it starts with you. It starts with taking 100% responsibility for your results in life. So it's absolutely been a pleasure to really start to dive deeper into some of the things that I teach and work with. And I really want to hear from you because we are going to start research on some of our techniques and our proprietary methodologies. And I want to know what's working for you guys. Even as little as this, I feel can create a major shift in your life. So if you are interested at all about how you click, I invite you to take this beautiful journey with yourself.
Jeanne: [00:21:24] And if you're looking for a mentor, just reach out. I think that we are going to be doing weekly meetings now, or possibly daily if there's enough interest, because that is where we can help the most people by being in community with one another. I see me and you, you see me and I, and that's what we are. We're together. We're no different. Just have different plots, different stories to the characters, but we're all the same. And so it's been a privilege to be with you guys on this journey. Love to hear your feedback. Looking forward to meeting up with you at some point in this journey in real life.
