Mastermind: Finding the Right Mentor, Coach and Friends, to Grow your Business with
Hey buddy, what's up? Sagi here, I am in New Market, England, which is a pretty cool place, by the way. Yeah, check out this place. Just freaking amazing. So I flew out all the way from Israel to attend a Mastermind and I wanna kind of talk to you about like kind of my takeaways why I attend masterminds or some potential pitfalls when attending these kind of events, because I think a lot of people are still not investing in themselves as they should when they're building businesses and that's why I wanna talk to you about. Sounds good? Great. Okay, let's begin.
Okay, so first off, I think attending Mastermind is one of the most important things that you can do for yourself and your business. The reason I'm saying it is because in business it's a lonely journey. All right. It's also like a spiritual journey where you develop yourself and being lonely on a journey, which is a spiritual journey, sucks.
And there's this feeling like the whole world, like, you know, so many forces are against you and you have so many choices, but each choice can lead to a complete disaster. While some choices can lead to a lot of success, I'm talking about monetary success, but I'm also talking about like, success when it comes to like building what you want to build in the world, because you can work very hard on your business, but basically you get to a point where you're not happy you can do that.
Yeah. You can actually get to a point where you're not happy with what you're doing and you wake up one day after you built this amazing company and you're not happy you can do that. I wanna make sure I get to a point in my business where I build a business study five years from now. It grew and it scaled and it became amazing.
And I wake up in the morning, I'm still freaking pumped for what I'm building because it’s aligned with my values. And so I think that searching for this clarity, I would say, especially in the early days because I would consider myself kinda like in the early days. I've been in business for like five years now, and only this year I really started to gain clarity, like real clarity about the direction in which I'm taking my business forward.
And throughout all this time, I have been producing, I've been growing kinda like my business, but I've been trying different things. And here are a couple things. Masterminds are a crucial factor in this because when you surround yourself with a mentor, a coach, mostly like a mentor, someone that you can look up to and that can help you guide you in the right direction.
That mentor needs to be three things. One, someone who's achieved success in why you wanna achieve success and two, you need to align with their values 100%. If you don't align with their values, you know, don't go to them. Three, he needs to also show up for his people in a way that you wanna show up for your people later on.
Makes sense? I think that's kinda like what my three factors for finding a mentor or coach are. And now here's another thing, when I'm looking for a mastermind, I'm looking to surround myself in the room with people that are smarter than me, that are better than me in a lot of ways, and that can really help me grow to my next level.
Every time you're gonna have a different level, every year, you're gonna have a different level, I think, But you wanna make sure to always surround yourself with great people that will move you forward. Those people are the connections that you're gonna have for years to come. Great friends that you're gonna be working with, collaborating with, and you know, really moving forward with in a long haul.
And I think that those people would push you higher. And those are the people that you wanna make sure that you grow with because if you think about all the people that you're looking up to, and some of them came up together and kind of helped each other grow. That's what you do when you build a business.
You form friendships, authentic friendships, and you help each other grow. So that's one of the most crucial factors of a Mastermind. Another one is knowledge. Knowledge is very important. Knowledge is key. We all know that, but when you consume knowledge, make sure you consume it from the right people in the right setting. And mastermind is a great way to consume knowledge and go deep on a topic and into your business.
Knowledge is power because it's not the things that we know that we need to do that will push us towards success. It's actually most of the things that we don't know ,that we don't know. Right. And the things that sometimes we do know, that we need to do that are so simple, but we overthink them or you know, we're not holding ourselves accountable to them because we procrastinate, because it's not convenient for us to do.
And I think these masterminds at the end of the day, like, Oh, this is my next step. This is what I should do. Like I wanna be serious about my business. This is what I should do. Like, so basically, this is something that I think is very important. So we said knowledge, we said surrounding yourself with the right people, we said finding the right mentor for these masterminds, and I think investing in yourself.
A lot of people are kind of like “ yeah, invest in yourself”, but what is the actual meaning? Throughout the years, I've invested over half a million USD in my growth in masterminds and coaches and mentors. And what I learned is, it has compound interests.
It really helps me get to the next version of me. It helps me develop my character. And so this is all aside. Now let's talk about the pitfalls. Some mastermind settings where you have a lot of people breaking out each other's businesses are kind of getting it wrong, some of them. Because either you get yourself into a mastermind with the wrong people, people that are not smarter than you, people that are not in the same game as you even, which is completely wrong.
Like you, you can't get advice. Usually you cannot get advice for what you need to build if you have people with like completely different businesses on the same table. And so yeah, they'll give you some advice that maybe you can consider to implement on your own business. It's not gonna be the same though.
You need people that are building the same kind of business as you are. They have the same goal and aspirations and values. I think that's a very important thing.
Now, one last thing, when in a mastermind setting, be aware of the people that are sending you prescriptions or that are prescribing you what to do, right?
You want people to ask you the right questions in order for you to ask yourself the right questions. The answers are within you, not within anybody in the table right now. The answers are within you. They can give you ideas, either by asking you questions or by telling a case study of how they implemented something in their business or saw someone implementing the same thing.
But make sure that they don't tell you what you need to do because that's dangerous, because that might send you down a rabbit hole of like, Oh, this is what I need to do, Okay, I'm gonna go do it. Then when you go do it, you understand it's actually the wrong thing you didn't wanna do. Make sure to still have the self confidence to believe in yourself that you know what you need to do.
Because only you know what you need to do. It's your values, your life, your vision for your future, your understanding of the market. Still, you know, it can go deep into Mastermind, but can not go so deep as to really understand what you really need to do. Only you know that, nobody in the room really knows that.
So don't worry and take the right measurements in order to gain the knowledge, consume the knowledge, but the right knowledge, and ask yourself the right questions at the end of the session. Lastly, a couple of tips when in the mastermind. One, form authentic relationships. Just every second you got, just go and network with people and I think two, is take action on what you need to do.
Maybe after a session, go aside and map it out, journal about it, or map out the actual action items that you need to do or send some stuff to your team. Write a lot of notes, take them home, review them. Don't leave everything in the Mastermind. So that's pretty much it. That's all I got for you guys.
So hope this brings you some value and I'm gonna go now map out some of the things that I need to map out. All right, cheers.
