Charted

What is Charted?

Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.

If we will but listen, God’s created works will teach us precious
lessons… From the stars that in their trackless courses through space
follow from age to age their appointed path, down to the minutest
atom, the things of nature obey the Creator’s will. And God cares for
everything and sustains everything that He has created. – Steps to
Christ, pp. 85-86
Continuous chatter and loud laughter sounded all around the
lobby at eight o’clock that Sunday night. The girls in the dorm were
enjoying the last couple of hours of the weekend before the shock of
Monday would hit them like a bus the next morning. I had decided to
work on a pesky English paper, but there was too much noise, too
much chatter, and too many aromas floating from the various bags of
chips and popcorn being shared for me to get my homework done.
However, even if there had been dead silence, I couldn’t have written
a thing; I had a terrible case of writer’s block. My fingers refused to
type a single word.
“Are you coming?” my friend hollered from across the room,
already making her way to the door.
“Where are we going?” I asked curiously. She whispered that
she would explain later and anxiously dragged me outside to the lawn.
A couple of my friends joined in, and with the magic of fuzzy blankets,
cozy pajamas, and apple cider, we laid back and began stargazing.
Aaaah! The unbelievable artistry of billions and billions of
stars!
After a couple magical minutes of watching the star-carpeted
sky, the chill got to our bones, which usually happens on a late
September evening. I hastily returned to my homework, but to my
surprise, my writing now flowed like a waterfall.
I often get caught up in the frustrations of life and tend to
forget about God and my need of Him. I tend to forget that He’s there
to care for me and get me through my struggles. Yet it only took a few
minutes out in God’s beautiful creation to refresh my brain.
