What is Business Buffet?

Welcome to Business Buffet, a unique podcast crafted to disseminate insightful business knowledge in an engaging auditory format. My name is Ed Bejarana, the creator of Business Buffet, where we sample a myriad of topics designed to fortify and uplift your business.

For over 17 years, I've run my home-based business, Zenith Exhibits, Inc., successfully. This self-employment journey has enriched my life and that of my wife of 33 years. The challenges of starting a small, home-based business can be daunting. Sharing experiences of how I survived, and even thrived financially, through the process, I believe, is of immeasurable value. Business Buffet is my tribute to the business community that has supported and nurtured me for over the years.

I also hold a deep passion for aiding visually impaired individuals by producing content beneficial to entrepreneurs struggling with vision. Existing narrated tools for the blind, available through various commissions, often operate in isolation and don't amalgamate to effectively aid a business start-up's success.

An interesting anecdote led me on this path. A friend asked me to record a magazine article for him. Inquisitive, I suggested he could avail the service from the Idaho Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired, but he preferred the connection he felt to the content through my voice. After recording and sharing an article from Inc. Magazine, he sought to share these audio files with his entrepreneur friends. Voila! Business Buffet for the Blind was born!

My vision is to provide captivating business development content for both sighted and non-sighted individuals. I've reached out to business-centric magazines like Forbes and Inc., but obtaining permissions has been an uphill battle. Distributing these files manually became arduous, prompting me to revamp my previous podcast, Business Buffet, into an inspirational auditory platform for the visually impaired, aiming to inspire and inform through business content.

The power of concise single topic posts we touched on this in the last episode, we're gonna go even deeper. Short, single topic blog posts that directly address your audience's inquiries or challenges are a powerful tool in your SEO arsenal. This approach has several advantages. First, clarity and precision. Focusing on a single topic ensures that your content directly resolves specific queries or issues, making it highly relevant to your audience's needs. Let me inject there and just kind of bring these three points, home. clarity and precision we've already talked about in the previous episode, we want to make sure and solve the problem the searcher was looking for. We don't answer their question right up front. Quickly in our article, they're hitting the back button. They're leaving enhanced user experience. Google likes people who come to your website a lot. If they see people coming back to read the same article over and over and over again, because they see repeat. They know that Bo Bob visited So Ed's website, blog article 19 times this month, that must be really valuable. Google likes that Google is going to improve your ranking for that particular topic. And an increased share ability. When you got a good post, people are just going to share it. And now you use your cell phone, I use my cell phone. In fact, actually, I have to say this, my 79 year old wife uses her cell phone more than I do will be driving in the car or at a restaurant or something and a question will come up you know how many movies was so and so in? Tail have her cell phone out and she's looking it up finding the answer. And when she finds the answer, especially if it contradicts what I just gave, she'll share it with me and boom, I'll get a text message. Oh, thank you, honey, for she's sitting right next to me. I kind of laugh the grandkids are staring at us. Ma grandpa grandma, can you stop using your cell phones? Alright, I continue to repeat visits the SEO powerhouse. The true gem of SEO lies in the value of repeat visits. When your content consistently meets the needs and piques the interests of your readers, they're more likely to return for more. Now I up until recently when health caused an issue I was an active Rotarian have been for more than a dozen years. I was at Rotary one day, at my table of with a group of guys that I usually sit with on a regular basis. And I heard across the room, you should check out the stuff that Ed published. I heard it off to my behind me, I turned around, and there's a whole table of ladies talking and they wave at me. And one comes over and she says, What's the address of your website? I'm looking for I forget what it was such and such. Your website can become the source for solutions everywhere. Adapting a reader first approach to SEO involves several key steps. First, understand your audience man. That's like a broken record in this guide. Dive into the needs and preferences of your target audience. Utilize surveys, social media interactions and customer feedback to gather insights. I take this one step further when I'm talking to my clients. You know, if you're talking to them one on one mano a mano, you've been at their house, you're doing an estimate of remodeling their backyard or, or painting their house, you know, the way they talk, their mannerisms, the type of clothes that they wear, the the decorative things that they put in front of their house, all of that leads to an understanding of the individual. create valuable content with an understanding of your audience deeds, craft content that offers real solutions, and insights. Optimize for readability. Ensure your content is accessible and easy to navigate, employing headlines, bullets and short paragraphs to enhance readability. encourage engagement, foster a sense of community by encouraging readers to interact with your content through comments, shares, and social media engagements, analyze and adapt. Use analytics tools to monitor the performance of your content, pay attention to what resonates with your audience, and refine your strategy accordingly. Now, I started my business back in 2007. And blogging was my strategy. Along with networking, you know, I was attending four or five networking events, a week chambers, etc. But blogging was the key. Blogging was the hub because I used an education, focused blogging strategy. And I had as SEO experts calling me, dude, you're killing us. But I've modified over time. If you look at my blog, it's changed it. It moves with the business climate. And now I'm including podcasting. So many people say, Well, you should go to YouTube, there's 6 billion hits an hour. I don't know. You know, I, I joke, I have a face for radio. Actually, there's a very strategic reason I use podcasting. And I'm going to reference this as part of today's lesson. I use podcasting because people like to learn while they're driving. My target customer, mostly men, I work with a lot of women, but mostly men. They like News Talk Radio. And so while they're driving in the car, they like to hear somebody talking. And if they find a podcast that's helpful to them, they're going to tune it in and listen to it while they're on their way to work. In America, the average drive time is about 22 minutes. TED talks, they do their talks in 18 minutes, so they fit in the drive time. strategically. I've added podcasting because I know blogging is powerful. Now, I'm not. Obviously I'm not scripting the entire blog as I'm doing this little commentary. So you have to do both. If you want to get the full digest, you have to listen to the podcast and you have to read the blog because I've got links over there, strategy. But the idea here is now I'm adding another sense. You're listening to me the sincerity in my voice.
