But I am going I'm going to the game next next Thursday night of Japan versus Sweden, and that will be a barn burner because I think a lot's gonna be riding on that game. I'm gonna go for Japan. Oh, okay. So It is also Father's Day weekend, so we wanna shout out to everybody that's, celebrating Father's Day. I'm told that the boys have something very special for me this weekend. So, they have told they haven't properly instructed their mother on, what the Father's Day should go. But you know? Also, just sent a shout out this Saturday night if you're out in, the the area of Terrell, Texas. Ken Belcher, my good friend and my guitarist, is playing with another band at a Juneteenth celebration out in Terrell. They're called different vibe. They'll be playing from seven to nine. Their coach this year has unveiled a turnover championship belt for the defense. And I do believe Alex gave them the right vendor because when I saw that, I was like, oh, yeah. Ashley did reach out to me about reaching out to Alex. Okay. I did not know that. You, you you you Kevin Bacon to that whole bit. I I got there in six or less. So congratulations, and it's a gorgeous belt. Oh, absolutely. Because it's probably from a great vendor. We're gonna be watching you this year. Is there anybody that, would after an IMDB that is actually six degrees away from Kevin Bacon? I know Muhammad Ali was five. They all they all are within six degrees. Alright. Well, someone brought up some show that we've not done 770 times. There's a structure to this, and we have a very, very long run sheet tonight because we have a lot of going. Usually, it's like this is a slow time with baseball only. So But it's not. I forgot. Things are going up. How did you forget? You were at the fan fest, Don. You literally just announced you were going to a world time in two weeks, you have crapped on a bit, and I have said you were there. Okay. As broken on this show, apparently, the World Cup is going on, and we have already completed and this is kind of a weird way they do this. We have completed the day one of matches as of last night. And what that means is there's there's more teams than ever. There's 48 teams this year, but everybody has now played at least one match going into today. Yes. If your name is George Washington, like, literally on your birth certificate, please pay attention. Because if the US men's team wins the whole thing and your name is George Washington and you are registered on Jeep's website, they are giving away 100 Jeep Wranglers to people named George Washington. Wow. It's the man win. I have a relative I need to go dig up. All that was a bark. Yeah. I Also, if you are a a betting fan, Underdog has said if the men win at all, they're gonna give away $25,000,000. Who said that? Underdog. It's a betting website. Okay. So let let's talk some logistics. For those of you that are watching the matches and you have the capability, let me give you a quick heads up. Just to clarify, Don, it's that one. Okay. Sorry. I couldn't. Something about patience. I have Alex and I both have Hulu Live plus TV. Mhmm. Hulu does not carry four k in about 90% of their programming. If you have YouTube TV, it's an extra cost. But if you wanna watch the matches in four k in English, get the Fox one app that is actually included in your Hulu plus live TV subscription so you can get the games in four k. And on the average, you know, the only reason I know this was I was having to dual screen for a chunk of the last few let me finish my thought, Alex. For a chunk of the last few days, the Fox one app tends to be thirty to forty seconds ahead of Hulu Live TV. Also, if you wanna watch the message the match is in four k in Spanish. You need to go to Peacock because Telemundo has that feed, but they don't have the English feed. I just work here. Alex. Fox one also carries a Fox deportes in Spanish as well that you can go to, and they have been piggybacking the Telemundo feed as well. So you can get them both in the Fox one app, but Peacock is the source for telemark and Univision. I love that when I I click to watch now, it's like, would you like to watch this in four k, or would you like a different feed? I'm like, you know what my TV can do. No. That's where it's America. Yeah. It's like, would you like the best possible presentation, or would you like to look make it look like you're watching on a phone from 1963? No. My phone my TV does four k. You put it in four k. We got The only one I like there is would you like it in English or Spanish? Because I prefer Spanish. I I texted Alex last week, and I said, the level of petty that FIFA carries is it's a masterpiece. And Don mentioned this earlier. I was watching the first day I was watching the match the first match I watched, I missed most of day one. I the first match I got to watch was the the men's match against, is it Paraguay? I'm looking I guess Yes. Paraguay. Paraguay. And they were like, Los Angeles Stadium, Seattle Stadium, New York Stadium. I'm like, these stadiums have names. And it was irritating me more, New York Stadium. That's in New Jersey. At least to be accurate. Well, I think they actually said New York, New Jersey. Okay. Like, here, they didn't say Dallas Fort Worth. It's just Dallas. And at which you know, Fort Worth's already angry about enough sports stuff in this town. Let's just pour some diesel fuel on that campfire, shall we? Of course. So I'm like, this level of petty is fantastic. And then we got to Sunday, and I tuned in the match from Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Mhmm. It was at that point that I realized they're even covering the logos outside of the stadiums. Mhmm. Anything that references corporate sponsors with FIFA banners. And then I was like, oh, I bet that's why I didn't see a lot of external shots Yeah. Death Star because the name is so huge on that roof. I'm like, this is fantastic. And then it goes to another level. And, Don, I don't know if you noticed this because you're the only other one on the show that would've. I went to the fan fest yesterday as you follow me on social media. Yeah. And Don does as well. Don sent me some video. I'm I am working on that, Don. I'm just Yeah. No. No problem. Y'all But you're on. They even covered up the Cotton Bowl sign. With the FIFA logo. I'm like, this level of petty is fantastic. This is a level of petty that exemplifies the human experience. But when you're covering up the cotton ball and you're not even doing any games there. But did did you see about the alleged petty off in Santa Clara? I'm not sure what you're referring to, so go ahead. Okay. So what is the name of what is the real name of the stadium in Santa Clara? Levi's. Levi's Stadium. Mhmm. So Levi's has their logo in a very particular shape on the outside of the stadium. So the canvas is in that particular shape. Yeah. And let's just say a certain company was going to change the canvas to denim. And there was a whole thing back and forth. But see, the Mercedes Benz logo was the thing that made me notice it. Yeah. Because I'm like Yeah. A round Wait. At AT and T, they put a tarp over even the logo on the big roof of the Death Star. That's what I'm saying. Like, this this is 11p, I think. This is crazy. Yeah. I wanna say that the prematch ceremonies have been unmatched. Every one of these I have found fantastic. Allen Parsons, I bet you're loving that check, brother. Because they're serious for every match. Yep. Don't get me wrong. I love that. Love it. I'm a fan of that song. Chicago bulls represent. But you know what else I guard. Well, you know, the only the other thing I noticed was The US game. The US is the only country that had their anthem sung live. Really? Has been and now who Paraguay did it because The US was playing them, I think. Every other match, it has been instrumental versions with the crowd singing along. There was Mexico. I haven't seen Mexico play, so that's I that's possible, Don. I like and then and then to the point of maybe it's the host countries. Canada didn't, and they just played. So I'm not sure how this is all working. I thought Canada did just do it. No. Mm-mm. Because I watched I watched that entire I've watched I have Well, no. No. You and I were both watching, but you are more tuned into this. I have probably watched 85% of the matches so far. Mhmm. I am I am all in on World Cup coverage. All in. Because I'm loving it. There was only one match that I watched that that I was like, they didn't have to have somebody singing because they did, and I can't I got six pages in notes, and I can't remember who it was. Go ahead, Don. Yeah. It it was Mexico did have somebody sing ahead of time. Their their national anthem, they did have that there also. So But then that did did surprise me after that. I didn't see it anymore. And I'm like, why don't they have somebody up there? You know? There there was one country in one of the South American countries that their fans were singing so loud they didn't need somebody singing it. Yeah. I wanna send a shout out to Japan. Yeah. I'm rooting for them because they cleaned up their own section in the day. They always have. And Jameis Winston was there because I can see And helped. That show Yeah. With with Gronk, which I thought was great. Shout out to Absolutely. Japanese fans. Scotland we're banning Vuvuzelas with their son guy with bagpipes? Sure. Why not? That's art army. Oh, and I wanna give a little bit as we're talking about the World Cup, and we're gonna take some time on this just because there's so much going on. And I really want I want people to get involved because this is some of the most entertaining sports. I don't care what anybody says. This is and I even talked to Phil about this, and Phil's one of our rec our resident soccer experts. He's out on the road this week. But he was just like, these are the best players in the world. It's gonna be a different level of play. For those of you wondering, yellow cards only sustain in the current round of play. So when we get to the round of 32, everything resets. Now as we saw in this last match, red cards matter, kids. Yes. They do. Because Qatar was down two players, and that carries over to the next match under normal circumstances too. Mhmm. Does that mean they're gonna play with eight in the next or nine in the next match? I doubt I don't know, but I'm gonna be watching for it. I thought just those if I if I may, I thought just the people who got the red cards cannot play the next game. They still are gonna have 11 players on the next game. Not that carries over. That's what I was concerned. I'm glad you you caught me on the dot because I had no clue. I there's one I I finally found the day where I disagree with something that's done on Welcome to Wrexham. They put up a Uh-oh. Website last week with a word we can't say in it and followed by VAR. I Oh. Like that. I like VAR. Mhmm. Remember what it benefited America last week. Number two, it's they're fast. Like, here's the thing. Here's the thing. Go. It's it's missed. It's gotten a couple things wrong. The first red card today for Qatar, I think, was not correct. There was no contact there, but I do like how they're showing the graphic with the with where it was and if it offside, big fan of that. Very much digging on that. Also, shots on goal versus shots on target. Those are two separate stat. Shots on goal is has to be handled by the by the keeper. That's the By the keeper or not handled at all and into the net? Right. Shots on target is where the rest of the defense gets involved. Mhmm. That's the difference. I had to look. I had to Google it. I've been doing a lot of googling as I've been watching because I'm learning soccer. Learning. Yeah. Yes. Also set piece opportunity is another another phrase that they use. And what that is is on something like a corner kick, they have like like football teams do, they have set plays, hence set piece for how they handle those opportunities versus constant back and forth of the ball. Such as the elaborate set pieces or better known as trick plays. Yes. Park the bus. Low piece of bargain. Are new. That took me a couple of days to figure out if that three minutes is added into extra time, which it is. I thought it wasn't, but it is. So when when you see plus six, it's really plus three plus the hydration break. Mhmm. So be aware of that. I I and we know not every stadium is open air, but the fact that everybody has to do it even if they don't feel they need it, I think is a good thing. Because a lot of these teams are playing in conditions that they are not used to at all. So I think this benefits everybody and plus I can go to the bathroom myself during that. But the other big part of this is that this is really the result of a bunch of World Cup games during the last tournament getting played in 120, 130 degree heat in the middle of the Arabic Peninsula. You know? It's so at the same time, it's the advancement of realizing players should be hydrated if only for their own health. And I love the, I love the Mexican arenas. Those things are. I also love if if it's proved to see that you flopped, you gotta sit out for a minute. It's like their own penalty I am fully here for this because basketball is only second to soccer in that category. Yeah. So I'm happy might be catching up, to be honest with you. Only once did I see this in a match where they showed, like, they did, like, the kick speed and stuff, and I think I know why. Because the one time they showed it, it was in kilometers per hour. And I was like, you're America. I don't I ain't doing no conversions. You're America. I don't need eagles per, you know, dodos. But I did like the one time they did show it, I hope they get that fixed and working because I really dug that. My next question is for Alex. Uh-oh. Because you've watched you've watched some of this coverage. Yes. Yeah. Something that you're a big fan of. And, Don, I want your your your input here too. One thing that I believe, and if you wanna do this, you're not gonna hurt my feelings. And if I'm not mistaken, you're one of the networks fox that kind of has the corner on this thing. Use the vertical Madden cam for this tournament. I want the over Absolutely. I want the behind so we can watch it all happen. I need the Madden cam for this. And I'm normally not a fan of vertical Madden cam because you know I can't stand that thing. But for soccer, I think it works better. Well, and it's to be honest, it's not even just the vertical Madden cam. Just use the fly cams. The only reason that they don't have that is because of the concern that a soccer ball will hit it. I think you get a goal if you can do that. No. I said that's Now you're getting ridiculous. Don, what do think? I I I like the idea of that, but I I have to worry about what Alex says about the ball hitting that cam. You don't want it. Mhmm. And so I I I like the idea. I think it would be kinda cool, but they'd have to put it way, way, way up where it there's no way at all it can ever hit the ball, could ever hit it. We have satellite technology that can see my car from outer space. I know. I'm just saying. Okay. I I like the idea, but they have to do it right is what I'm trying to say. Yes. To let you know, the last of, you know, what could be working against Argentina, by the way, Messi. Dear god. Yep. That man that man, I'm so glad he plays for Inter Miami. The last the last country to go back to back was Brazil in 5862, And the only other country to ever go back to back isn't even in the tournament this year, and it's Italy who did it in '35 '38. Mhmm. This is normally every four years. They took the World War two. They couldn't do it in for a couple of tournaments. So when you see their numbers and they don't match up, that's why. In the game versus Paraguay, there were as many as 21,000,000 people watching that match. Yeah. Which and the average was almost 16,000,000. And there were 71,000 people in that arena as or in the stadium as well. And your your answer to the pettiness of covering up all the logos is right there. And I'm I'm ready for tomorrow in Seattle. Oh, yeah. This team looked great. I don't care what anybody says. A team looks great. A team looks great. I'm very much looking forward to the match tomorrow. The reason I'm wearing this particular shirt, which I guess is more of a goalie shirt, shout out Old Navy, is the the the shirt I wanna wear tomorrow might not if I wore it now, laundry might not be done before kickoff. So I gotta make sure because I got I got two other shirts. And then I also got a shirt at the fan fest yesterday, which we're gonna talk about here in just a second. Oh, Cape Verde. Yeah. Taking Spain to a draw in a fantastic match. Very much enjoyed that. Spain's who I've got picked through the whole thing on the website, so I'm gonna need them to pick up the pace a little bit. And a lot the over unders for almost every match besides two has been two and a half. And two of them, the Spain was three and a half, and I think there's one coming up tomorrow right now that I've got three and a half. So I am monitoring that as well. Mhmm. Your average goal if you're if you're gonna go on money line, it's, minus one and a half. Yeah. That that that that's your goal line. Yeah. Your goal line's average by one and a half. I do wanna talk just for a couple of minutes about the FanFest currently happening at Fair Park. Like I said, if you follow me on your social medias or us, I posted some videos yesterday. I had an absolute blast. I truly, truly did. But I wanna give people a little bit of feedback. And, Don, I need you on this too because you were there you were there at a different day than I was. Yeah. First of all, if you have a Visa, you get 10% off your purchases at the merch store. So that's where I got my T shirt from. They don't sell the jerseys on the floor. You go to a counter for that, which means I can't afford it. Now if that if there's a team playing that day, like when I was there yesterday, they have a little display up front that's called the game day section, and they had, like, Ghana gear that you could buy because they were playing. I dig that. Having everybody's gear available. The shirt wasn't as expensive as I was expecting. Mhmm. But I got a cool black shirt. I'll probably might wear it next week on the show. That's got the the the logo on the front, and on the back, it's got the 26 and little looks like stamps of all the countries. Mhmm. And it I saw that. That little is a very slick looking shirt. Slick looking shirt. The best one. I was looking for one. We talked about the video that Harrison Neville did last week. He's now apparently having discussions with Adidas on all that stuff that he found in that storage unit. But he found a prototype of a shirt that was that was like this gold That's surprising. Gold logo on the front, and on the back of it was all the dates in the cities of the first round of of the matches. And I was like, oh, I was looking for that, but they didn't have That's cool. If you would like and, Don, I don't know if you saw this. If you would like a mini replica of the World Cup trophy Oh, yeah. That'll cost you a $100. Not surprising. It is not in the cabinet behind me for a reason because it's still at the store. Because I paid for it. A $100 for it. Yep. A lot of really cool experiences. What I would say is the only experience I would say get there early and get there first because by the time I left, and I kid you not, and I don't know if this was for you, Don, but I was there for a couple of hours. And when I left, the line at the Bank Of America Pavilion was 500 deep if it was nothing. Apparently, Bank of America is doing bracelets that you can customize the charms for the countries and stuff. Okay. That that line was insane. Was it? I didn't even see that thing there. When I got there, it wasn't that big of a deal, and I I should have done it then. Yeah. But I saw the line as I was walking towards there. Was like, nope. I'm a keep walking to the car because it's hot outside. Yeah. Coca Cola's got a great pavilion. Mhmm. That was kinda cool. Got I I got a Coca flag. That's not a flag, Don. Did you do you not know what this is? Excuse me. Yeah. I got that. Yeah. Yeah. I got This has been a flag, Don. What would you call it then? Allow me to show you what this is. Okay. If you look on the inside, there's a little thing right here. No. Yeah. It's it's a cape. Oh, wow. I just saw that pit looking like a plague. I did not know. I kept my different package. Don, so now you have a cape to wear to the game. Yeah. Okay. And you had a choice if you have one that was just for Coca Cola and they had America and two other countries. Yeah. And then they had, a couple of photo ops. One was in a, a replica of the locker room. They had you could take a picture with a replica of a game day ball. And if you did all if you got all four experiences at the Coca Cola thing, you're entered into a drawing where they're giving away game used soccer balls. So I'm very excited about that. I went to the Kia display, Kia, and also UT Southwestern was doing the same thing Kia was doing where you could get take your picture and have it put on what looks like a trading card like I did at Cosm for the Super Bowl. I think the one that Key has looked a little cooler because it actually superimposed that, you know, you pick the country and it superimposed that uni. The kit. Yeah. And you also got to, you know, I got to put my number and my name, which is now fixed on social media by the way. I sent a message out. That would the only thing there is the line is outside, and that was the longest line I stood in for about half an hour, and it got hot. I was glad once I got into the final row because I was under the shade. And then you can check out the new, cars from Kia with that. That was a lot of fun. Home Depot's got a really cool Beckham's backyard because he's doing that's the Yeah. He's doing the ads. Michelob Ultra, you you know, the how they're doing the deal where you can pick like, the fans are picking the moment of the match. Mhmm. They have that trophy there, and I got my hat. There's a great kids area. That's where I got my picture if you see me with the with the big version of the trophy. Mhmm. That's a kids area where they can do, like, skill shots, and there's, a little octagon games they can play and stuff. And every major area has big screens, which is the beautiful thing. Like, Choctaw sponsors one. Mhmm. There's one in the kids area. There's probably, what you say, Don, seven or eight big screens just straight about. There's actually a big LED soccer ball in one of the pavilions that that and the image rotates, and I got my picture of that, and I filmed a little bit of that. And then also at Fair Park is the Starplex, which is, I think, this week, it's still Gexa. It's our outdoor amphitheater. Yeah. And they feature friend of the show, Remy Riley played on that stage last week. Friend of the show, Shippy, has been DJing out there quite a bit. You can watch the matches at the Starplex. Oh. They have a huge screen that is pretty much the width of the stage. Okay. Screens on the side. Now if you wanna sit in the lower bowl, those are reserved for people that have legend tickets, and those are $250 ahead. Just be aware. Then the second bowl in the center are what they call GA plus, and I don't know what the extra cost on that. Now the outside of the second bowl and the lawn, that's open seating for people that just don't wanna buy. They just get the free tickets. But the the the video looks fantastic. I got some shots of that. There's a really cool exhibition that celebrates women in sports. I filmed that. That was really neat. And each each ladies, the lady who has the each statue has a little QR code so you can scan it and learn more about her, which is I think is pretty neat. Overall, I thought it was really, really well done. Don, your thoughts? The the one thing I don't think you you I I saw it on your social media. You didn't bring up was the, soldiers. The military booking, the green, the That was the women's exhibit, Don. Oh, no. That was the women's? Okay. I didn't know what that that's okay. I thought that looked like a soldier thing or something like that. Okay. Those were women. Okay. I was surprised and overwhelmed on how since the, you know, since we're in Dallas, Mexico's playing, the attendance for that game at that location in the in the pavilion was insane. And I know, like, the Uzbekistan game would be a different story of the people filling that pavilion, but still people were coming for games all all all the games throughout the day. Yeah. They were. So but I would and the crowd the crowd during that game, these these people are pumped for that game of of Mexico playing there. I mean, they were it it it was like a a true, like, rock concert vibe feel Super Bowl kind vibe feel. And they're just watching it on TV. But this one thing I I love about this and I wanna get into the cup about this a little bit. Because you you guys talked about you know that sponsorship everything else. You look at how people are coming around from the world for this game. Oh, yeah. This is literally the biggest sporting event on the planet. Absolutely. More people watch the final of the World Cup, like, four years ago than the number of people of the third last 13 Super Bowls. You take the viewership of the 13 Super Bowls and you still get more people watching the World Cup final, which puts it through the roof of how many people watch it. I love how these people are doing their country pride. It doesn't matter what continent you're from, what language you speak. They always say math is a universal language, so is football. These people it doesn't matter what language you speak. Everybody's understanding what's going on on that field, and they have the country pride. People are coming through all over the planet to our to our country, into our city, and I'm gonna be able to actually go to a game in a week from now, and I am pumped because we're gonna get there real early because I love the vibe. We drove by the stadium the other day of of the, the, first game of the, was it Croatia? Was the first Dallas game if I remember right? No. The Netherlands. The Netherlands game. It had peep people were just the crowd atmosphere outside. People going to the stadium and stuff was was incredible. One thing I wanna say is that there has been talk about people complaining about how it went to 32 teams to 48 and how, you know, these some of these teams, should they really be in when Curacao got, you know, basically seven to one? But, you know, that that team never would have been there. They're able Yeah. Team that's always in it. Yeah. But the thing how they were still able to score a goal, you know, on the scene. And the thing I loved about, like, the the the the Congo game last night, how they were an underdog and how they came and they still won the thing. It and how Spain went to a draw. It doesn't matter what team you are. If, you know, if yeah. They are tough. They are great teams. They're tough teams. They are teams that are favorites in this tournament, but it doesn't matter. It's that if you win, if you win enough or you draw, win, and draw enough, whatever, you're gonna get to the next round. All that's out the window. This is basically tournament play when it comes down to it, and it doesn't matter what country, what country you're from, You know, none of this you know, I just love the sportsmanship in the world and how how the whole world could get along on this. If you do not know who he is, he was a comedian who he there there were four people in the history of late night with David Letterman that could show up five minutes before show, and Dave would put him on. Tom Dreeson is one of them. Tom, very, very funny man, passed away at 86. He ran with the rat pack back in the day and has some amazing stories. And I'll tell you guys my favorite Tom Dreesen story about the rat pack. He would talk about how Frank, if he was gonna play golf with Dean in Vegas, he'd take Dean out the night before and get him hammered. He wouldn't be able to play well. Well, Dean finally caught on to this, and they were out in Vegas whooping it up. And and Dean Martin said, you know what? I'm all tired. I'm going to bed. You know, we gotta play tomorrow. Frank was like, no. Hang out. And he's like, no. I'm gonna go to bed. The story goes, Dean went back to his hotel room and about twenty minutes later, gets a knock on the door. Apple TV has renewed Widow's Bay for season two. I'm hearing excellent things about this show. They've announced that they're doing a show with Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey called brothers, or as I've subtitled it, how did it take this long? So apparently, they have agreed to do a show, and I don't know if it's this one because there's the possibility that they are biologically brothers. Oh, I had heard about that. This is by far the best use of every speaker in the living room to date. That's surprising. From jump. Because remember, it starts with as you're going down the the the hell The hell tunnel. It was swirling around my living room across my my ceiling. My only issue with it, is Outside of the fact that it was spawn? Well, I mean, that that movie has a very special place in my heart. Mine too, but it's still terrible. Four k looks great. It's grainy when it's what it needs to be, and it's not grainy when it's not really doesn't need to be.
