The premise is great! That's what makes this insane! Someone at Disney approved Darth Vader as an asymmetric horror threat on a derelict Star Destroyer and that is a genuinely interesting creative decision that I did not expect to be saying out loud.
The quote from the Epic Games guy is the one I keep coming back to. Andre Balta -- Senior Director of Ecosystem Growth -- said Disney and Lucasfilm 'didn't have a ton of restrictions on lore and brand rules.' That's the thing that surprised me. Because that is not historically how Disney operates.
Right, so -- okay, here's my read. And I want to hear if you think this is wrong. UEFN -- that's Unreal Editor for Fortnite, basically the creation suite that lets developers build their own game modes inside Fortnite -- Epic has been building this into a genuine content platform. And Disney looked at Fortnite's reach and did the brand exposure math. That's it. That's the whole decision.
