Noon Hour Of Madness & Mayhem

Peaches and Viktor kicked off Friday by exposing one of life's greatest betrayals: getting secretly filmed while you're in the middle of a passionate rant. That somehow snowballed into listeners taking stealth photos of Peaches at concerts, plans for the upcoming Papa Roach show, trying to convince Set It Off to stop by the station, and Peaches' mission to hit another weight-loss milestone before concert day. Things only got stranger once Peaches decided his apartment wasn't sophisticated enough, leading to an Etsy shopping spree for artsy black-and-white photos, imaginary cigar boxes filled with mushroom drinks, globe bars stocked with kombucha, bonsai trees, and—after several completely unnecessary turns in the conversation—a proposal to transform a giant portrait of his late grandmother into a decorative indoor fountain. As if that wasn't enough, the guys wandered through Reddit's hottest unpopular opinions, debated whether Costco deserves its cult following, argued over surprise parties, admitted adulthood apparently makes people cry over thoughtful gifts, discussed horror movies that actually stick with you, roasted coworkers for getting older, and somehow wrapped everything up by questioning whether football would immediately send Viktor to the emergency room. It's another episode where every topic somehow finds a way to become dramatically weirder than the one before it, and you'll probably be laughing long before Grandma's fountain enters the conversation.

What is Noon Hour Of Madness & Mayhem?

The Noon Hour Of Madness & Mayhem can be heard live on KBEAR 101 weekdays at 12pm MST. Viktor and Peaches talk about a wide variety of topics depending on the day and you never know what to expect!

[upbeat music] The noon hour of Madness and Mayhem, the podcast.

Happy Friday, Peaches.

Yeah!

Yeah!

Woo!

I could not be more excited, uh, 'cause we don't have to work tomorrow, so. [laughs]

I know.

That, that-

It's b- it's ... There was, there was a few weekends in a row where I had to do, like, the farmer's market and-

Mm-hmm

... these other remotes that for some reason sales keeps putting me on to.

Oh, yeah.

Stop it.

This has been the longest week of all time, I swear, man. It, it feels like I haven't had a day off for like months for some reason. But, uh, you reminded me of something before we jumped, uh, on air here that happened yesterday. It's been a hot topic in the area as of late as well, and that would be, uh, people being filmed. [laughs] What do you think about people filming you when you don't know? I was unaware till this morning that I had been filmed for

numerous minutes ranting and raving [laughs] as Becca was- or as I was driving. Um,

I mean, at least she didn't post it on Facebook, you know, for, for all the world to see. At least it was just for her Snapchat audience. But

I didn't even listen to the whole thing. I was just like, "Oh, gee."

I stupidly did.

[laughs]

I sat there and watched the whole thing. [laughs] It's the worst possible angle of Becca because, I, I mean n- not b- of just specifically her, but she has her phone way down, like, right below her chin, and that's not an attractive angle for anybody.

Ah.

And so she's, like, just recording down, looking down at the phone smiling and laughing because you're in the driver's seat just going off about all these different-

[laughs]

... political events.

And I, I, I've heard you go like ... I've heard you talk like this before, so it wasn't new to me, but-

Yeah

... it must have been new to her.

Well, I ... She just thought it was funny apparently, 'cause I wouldn't shut up. And I don't even

know what set me off. Must have saw something on Facebook.

There, there, there were certain subjects where I would filler buster or filibuster.

[laughs]

And I was told on the phone, like, "Hey, you're filibustering again." [laughs]

[laughs]

I'm like, "Oh, my bad."

That's like my morning show every day.

Yeah. [laughs]

Just filibustering.

Well, if, if you get me passionate about a certain subject, like, e- I'm gonna start, you know, talking about it relentlessly.

Yeah. It, it just makes you wonder, like, how often are we being filmed that we don't know about?

[laughs]

Do you think people, like, see us and they're like, "Look, it's the guys from KBEAR." [laughs]

Look what happens to me at concerts.

[laughs] Oh, yeah, that's true.

It's just me standing there.

[laughs]

There's Peaches. Can you spot him?

Please make sure if you see Peaches at Paparoach next Thursday to take [laughs] a picture of him and post it in the KBEAR group. [laughs] Just don't let him know you're taking the picture.

[laughs]

Just take it at random.

[laughs]

And then we'll g- we'll get a gallery going.

Sometimes listeners will have me stand in, purposely in front of them so they can take a picture and be like, "Get this big old out of the way." [laughs]

[laughs] Yeah, that show should be fun, man. I'm pretty excited for it. Paparoach going down on Thursday.

Are we gonna try to have those bands in studio?

That's a good question.

'Cause I thought-

It seemed like-

I thought one of them already was

I was under the impression that at least one of them was, but I, I need to make-

We, we gotta, we gotta hit up another record rep for Set It Off to see if we can g-

Yeah

... we can get them in here because they're, they're, they're, they're super nice guys. Would love for you to meet those dudes.

Yeah. I'll, uh, I'll be looking into that. I mean, it is, it is gonna take them out of their way to come to the studio, you know? So I don't know if they're gonna have two hours of driving time.

Oh, we might need to go down to Pocatello-

Mm

... and go to the port or go-

That's what I'm thinking.

Well, last time I interviewed Set It Off, I was on their bus, and the inside of their bus is crazy.

Yeah?

All the, the ... They had a PS5 all set up, and that, that wasn't the craziest part. But, like, the, the whole bus was just decked out with all this stuff.

Nice.

Yeah.

Well-

It was quite cool. I mean, I'm glad to see them, uh, as successful as they are, because they're like the nicest dudes ever.

Well, I'll hit up our guy and see what I can figure out.

And their drummer is a professional wrestler, so I want you to challenge him one-on-one.

Oh. Sure. Sure. [laughs] Wait, did I say next Thursday? It's t- it's a week from next Thursday. I've lost my mind today.

July 23rd, yeah.

Yeah. 'Cause we're giving away tickets next week, all week.

I'm supposed to-

I'm an idiot

... reach my, my goal weight. Not goal weight. I'm supposed to reach a specific number of 320 by the 23rd.

How's it coming?

I haven't checked yet. I check every Sunday.

Ah. Okay.

'Cause if I weigh myself every day I'm just gonna drive myself nuts.

Yeah.

'Cause your weight fluctuates.

Oh, yeah. For sure.

And I'm not gonna be like, "I gained five pounds. I'm, a- I'm not eating anything today." [laughs]

[laughs] [upbeat music] This is the noon hour of Madness and Mayhem. I'm Victor.

I'm Peaches. I, I, I've developed this tactic, uh, it started yesterday, where I do my afternoon show on KBEAR. I outline everything that I talk about.

Mm-hmm.

And then on Z103 I talk about the exact same stuff-

[laughs]

... but in the Z103 way.

Yeah, that makes sense.

But then, but then also, like, I get inspired to talk about some other stuff here and there, but I wanna get the tr- the, the pre-recording done as fast as possible.

Yeah.

So, uh, I, I ... For some reason during the middle of the show yesterday, I, I went ... Well, I have these black and white photos of me with different bands right as I walk into the ... Right as you walk into the apartment, the left-hand side on the wall right there-

Mm-hmm

... you'll see me with Disturbed, Set It Off-

Mm-hmm

... uh, Funeral Portrait.

Yeah.

Um, but I was like, maybe I should make that at- the entire wall just black and white photo themed, you know?

Sure.

Go artsy fartsy with it. Go ... Because I, I've looked at my living room, I'm like, "Wow.

I need, I need to make it more sophisticated."

Mm-hmm.

Maybe I should put, like, a little cigar box for non-existent cigars.

How about you get yourself one of those little sand ... You know, it's like a little tray with sand and the little rake.

[laughs]

[laughs] Get myself a nice globe.

Yeah. Or, yeah, or you could get yourself a bonsai tree.

Oh, the-

A-

... the guy was selling them, uh,

on the corner by Leo's Pizza.

Oh, really?

Hmm.

I should have bought myself one of those.

Should have got one, and then you'd have a new hobby too.

I put ... Even put a yoga mat.

[laughs] Yes, there you go. Just go-

All of a sudden there's Buddha.

[laughs] Peaches goes new age.

Yeah. [laughs]

[laughs]

What's that, what's that theme where you, you, uh- You take the ball back and it bounces against the other balls

Oh yeah, I don't know what that's called.

But-

It, it's a thing

... get one of those.

Tho- those are classy.

But how about I get that globe that's a bar cart?

Yeah, that you open it up-

Yeah

... and it's got the bottle-

But instead-

... and like the glasses

... it has LaCroix.

[laughs]

And kombucha.

[laughs]

It has these alive mushroom elixirs on the inside. [laughs]

I don't know, don't those ... I, I haven't had one of those alive mushroom elixirs. Do they look like black sludge?

[laughs] No, they don't.

Just curious.

No, they don't. [laughs]

Okay, just checking.

There is black tea-

[laughs]

... but there's not black sludge. I'm not drinking black tar-

All right, just curious

... and then throwing it up in the bathroom, okay?

[laughs]

But what I was gonna talk about here is I, I s- I started, uh, shopping yesterday on Etsy out of all places-

Oh, boy

... for black and white pictures. Of what? I don't know. There was one of Ozzy on the toilet just smiling real big. I'm like, "I can't have that. That's too classless in my place."

Okay.

So then I s- I saw this one particular picture [laughs] of these two, these two girls in bathing suits-

Ooh

... jumping off of boats into the ocean.

[laughs]

And I was like, "Maybe I should get that."

[laughs]

And just have ... Who are these women? I don't know.

[laughs]

But it's an artsy photo. Might as well have it hung up. Have you seen, uh, Lenny Kravitz, uh, his, his home, uh, on, uh ... Like, there's a You- ... There's a whole tour of his, uh, farm in Brazil on YouTube.

Uh, no, I have not seen that.

He has a giant picture the size of that Kbear banner behind you-

Okay

... of his grandma, just like a close-up self-portrait of her face, and he just goes, "Yeah, it's, uh ... This is my beautiful grandma." Now imagine if I just had a black and white photo-

[laughs]

... of Theresa Peach, rest in peace, with her-

And it's gotta be huge

... her foam pa- ... It's bigger than her. She was like five foot nothing.

[laughs]

She ... I think she shrunk down to like 4'10" right before she died. But she has that foam patch to cover the hole in her throat.

Oh.

I, I just asked my uncle Bob, "Hey, do you have any close-up pictures of Grandma's face and neck?"

Oh, geez, Peaches.

But, but instead I make it artsy and I use AI to somehow edit the foam patch away, and she's drinking water, and you see the water come down the, the [laughs]-

Okay, Peaches

... come down the neck. But what's even better-

It's gone too far

... is somehow I turn it into a fountain.

Oh.

So then the water is just spewing out of her neck [laughs] into, into a tray. [laughs]

Peaches, you're getting, uh, you're getting weirder by the day.

[laughs]

[upbeat music] It's the noon hour of madness and mayhem. What's happening, Peach?

Now that we got the image of my grandma becoming a fountain out of the way, um-

Thank you

... I, I figured we would talk about one of my favorite subreddits as of late, r/unpopularopinion.

I like that subreddit as well.

I did like this one guy's rant about how Costco is just okay.

Dude, I think I might have, uh, stumbled across that post. And there are people who are obsessed with Costco, and I don't get it. Like, even when I had a family,

like, I don't know-

That's so sad to say

... back when I had a family-

Sounds like they all died in a fire.

[laughs] They didn't. They just moved away. Um,

I don't know. The ... It, it ...

I never th- felt like I got the value out of my membership, I guess. You have to, like ... I think you gotta have like 10 kids, you know?

Wh- which is perfect for this area.

Yeah. So, you know, for me, I don't know. I just ... You'd go in there, and every time you spend like 300 bucks, you know? And that was before groceries got to be outrageous. What does it cost to check out at Costco now?

I'll have to ask my dad.

Yeah.

I know he shops there quite a lot.

I mean, I do like d- a dollar, what is it, 50 hotdog.

I, I can't eat those on my diet.

Oh, yeah, Peaches can't eat hotdogs.

I, I can't have the pizza, can't have the blueberry smoothie, whatever that's called.

Can't enjoy anything.

Can't have the nice chicken bake, can't give it five big booms.

[laughs]

I saw that unpopular opinion. I saw the, uh, The Office is just okay, or, like, people need to stop milking The Office, the money. Or not the money, the TV show.

Are, are, are they making more of them or something?

Well, the, the ... What? They're, like, doing all these podcasts based off the show.

Ah.

This guy was going off saying that, like, none of the cast has ever done anything successful outside The Office. I'm like, "You're forgetting Steve Carell and Jonathan- John Krasinski, like, two of the most famous people out there right now."

[laughs]

Yeah, no kidding. [laughs] Yeah, I just pulled up unpopular opinion. I agree with this one. Surprise parties are disrespectful. Like, I've told you before, I do not ever want somebody to throw me a surprise party.

Oh, see, I would love that.

I would h- not like it.

I, I ... I'd get reminded, "Oh, I have friends," and I'd start crying.

See, I would be like, "Ugh, I just wanted to sit, [laughs] play some Red Dead."

Is it weird that you get emo-

"Now I gotta entertain?"

... you get more emotional as you get older?

Um-

Like, I s- I got gifted something, and I was just, like, tears in my eyes, like, "I can't believe you got this for me. Thank you."

[laughs] Oh. Yeah, I-

It's a black and white photo [laughs] of my grandma.

[laughs]

I can't believe you got it for me.

Yeah. It d- it does start happening to you as you get older. Uh, or it could be depression.

Maybe.

[laughs] And you just w- you just need to cry.

There was one time my ex threw me a, a, a surp- not a surprise birthday party, just a birthday party. She's like, "I'm decorating the entire backyard, the pool house." Um, it was for my 24th birthday.

Okay.

And she invited, like, all my friends over, and I was just bawling my eyes out.

[laughs] Oh, geez.

I was just like, "This is the coolest thing ever."

[laughs]

She got me, like, a pair of shoes. She got me, like, Bane energy drinks at the time. I started tearing up holding these, this cotton candy flavored Banes, dude.

[laughs] See, and I would just be like, "I can't believe you invited a bunch of people over without telling me." Ugh. I'd be so mad.

Why, s- why?

I don't know. I like to n- I like to have plans. I like to know what's going on. I don't like unexpected guests, you know? 'Cause I might just wanna be alone.

You're gonna have that Bill Burr reaction, like when Howie Mandel brought out, uh, Billy Corgan on the podcast.

[laughs] Exactly.

And Bill Burr was all upset. "Why would you bring my family into this? Why are you doing this?"

[laughs]

And he gets ... And he still ... I, and he still doesn't talk to Howie Mandel, like, to this day.

[laughs]

It's, it's quite sad.

[upbeat music] It's the noon hour of madness and mayhem. What's up, Peaches?

You ever deal with one of those people that when it comes to movies or restaurants, whenever you try to give them ideas of what to see or where to go, they just immediately shut every single option down?

Uh, yeah. Yeah.

Uh, we were talking about movies, me, my friend Bryson, his w- his, uh, fiancee Charlotte.

Mm-hmm.

And we were talking about movies, and she's like, "I'm not gonna go see the new Insidious. I'm not going to. The first one scarred me." And I'm like, "What do you mean the first Insidious scarred you?"

[laughs] Yeah, it's just a movie. [laughs]

Like, it's not like some of those movies we've talked about that we can't really name on the air-

Yeah

... 'cause we don't wanna inspire people to go see those terrible, terrible films, but ...

Insidious doesn't seem like the type of movie that would, yeah, be scarring. Like, it's not the re-

It's not like The Human Centipede.

Y- yeah, or Requiem for a Dream.

Is that even gonna scar you?

I, I'd say it would. Have you seen it?

No.

Yeah, you should watch it. You, like-

I know, like, the movie Weapons, like, there was that tw- that, that, that twist, and you're like-

Yeah, no-

... whoa

... Requiem for a Dream just is ... It just makes you feel gross. The whole-

Like the Joker movie?

Oh, way worse.

Oh, wow.

Way worse. Yeah.

Schindler's List?

It's ... I'd say on that level of how you feel. Yeah. It, it's a just depressing movie. Yeah. You like crying, Peaches.

Sure.

It might make you cry. A- at bare minimum, you're gonna feel, you know, just nasty by the end of it. It's just a really sad, depressing movie.

You ever seen Kevin Nash in The Longest Yard where they give him the, the, these different types of pills, he starts being all emotional on the field?

No.

That, that, that-

I haven't seen that.

[laughs] That's how I feel.

What type of movie is The Longest Yard? I assume a football movie.

Yeah. Have you seen the original one?

No.

You gotta watch the original before you watch the Adam Sandler remake.

Oh, no, wait. I have seen the Adam Sandler one.

Oh, yeah, I, I figured you did.

I pulled ... Yeah, I pulled it up here, and I see the cover, and I, I do remember that.

The original one's even more insane.

[laughs] Really?

'Cause Burt, Burt Reynolds actually hits a woman. Like, it's-

What?

Yeah, it's ... Like, back in the day, they didn't care whatsoever.

Oh, yeah, dude. Oh, it's the boss man. How's it going, Kevin?

Boss man just, uh, keeping an eye on us here?

He heard The Longest Yard-

Checking in

... he's like, "I wanna start my own football team as well."

[laughs] Let's, let's do it. Uh, I don't know. I don't know if I could tackle anybody with my wrist right now. I'd ha- ... I can't even throw the ball, Peaches. I'm useless. Useless.

I would love to see you on a football field-

Oh

... just taking one tackle.

Dude,

I'm too old to take a tackle, [laughs] Peaches. I'd be broken for weeks.

Too old or too weak? [laughs]

Both. [laughs] You s- I c- I can't even handle just tripping in my driveway. I busted up my wrist.

At least it wasn't a hip or something like that.

Oh, yeah.

Not yet. But could be coming my way.

I think I insulted Star. Um, she was posing with her hands on her hips at the end of the hallway 'cause I think I was talking to Maddie or something like that, distracting her from a, a project Maddie was working on.

Uh-huh.

And Star was at the end of the hallway hearing me talk to Maddie with her hands on her hips po- like, all posed. I'm like, "You look like that, that teacher from Recess."

The ... I forgot her name.

I, I don't r- I, I don't think I've seen that.

And she's like this, the, the sad old lady.

Oh. [laughs]

And I'm like, "Star, you have reached that age where-"

Oh. [laughs]

... uh, you know. But she was, she was like, "I don't even know where my hips are." And I'm like, "Well," I'm like, "If you fall, you'll certainly find out because you might break one of them."

[laughs] Jesus.

[laughs] And I'm just age-shaming Star.

[laughs]

And she's only, like-

I was gonna say-

... nine years older than me.

I was gonna say she's ... I thought she was pretty close in age to you, so I don't know what her age is. I don't ... I know-

Let's reveal it on the air, huh?

Let's go wander around and ask people, "How old are you?" [laughs]

I think the oldest guy in the building just walked by.

Uh, I think so, 'cause Jade's not here today.

Oh, true. [laughs]

[laughs] [upbeat music]
