Nassima (11/12/2021, 14:12:34): Hi there and thank you for your message.
We will be right with you.
Nassima (11/12/2021, 14:12:51): Hi Anna, how can I help you?
Anna (11/12/2021, 14:12:56): Hi there!
Anna (11/12/2021, 14:13:04): So, my question is about the Omega+ Eye cream
Anna (11/12/2021, 14:14:00): A few days ago I had a massive allergic reaction on one eye (it went really red and swollen). I'd been using the Anti-Ageing eye cream at night til it run out, and then started using the Omega+ eye cream, which I'd used befor.e with no problem.
Anna (11/12/2021, 14:14:15): I tried to apply it as usual and almost instantly felt a burning sensation
Anna (11/12/2021, 14:14:40): So I'm just wondering if there's any particular ingredient in the Omega+ that might be triggering for any allergies (I don't have any that I know of, so this is a first in my entire life!).
Nassima (11/12/2021, 14:15:53): I'm sorry to hear about your experience. So this same eye cream didn't give you any reactions before?
Anna (11/12/2021, 14:16:42): Nope, I had used up a whole full size bottle a few months ago (maybe earlier in the year), then I started getting dry skin around one eyelid and switched to Cerave for day eyecream and continued with Paula's Choice Anti-ageing at night
Anna (11/12/2021, 14:17:15): But it was so dramatic this time I'm wondering if there's a particular ingredient that's in the Omega+ that isn't in the Anti-ageing one that may be the trigger?
Nassima (11/12/2021, 14:18:29): There are many ingredients that are different between the two eye creams. The active ones in the Omega + are Fatty acids, but it's hard to say which ingredient triggered this reaction
Nassima (11/12/2021, 14:19:42): Unfortunately, not everyone reacts in the same way to skincare ingredients, and some can be more sensitive to a particular ingredient than others.
While it’s difficult to say exactly what may have caused your reaction, these are the most common reasons why skin may react negatively to a new product, a new skincare routine, or even to products you've used before:
- An allergy to a specific ingredient or combination of ingredients
- Using products that are unsuitable for your skin type
- Using too many "active" products at one time (i.e. retinol, BHA/AHA, vitamin C)
- Your skin could be extra sensitive
Anna (11/12/2021, 14:21:58): I'm a bit hesitant about using it again in case there was something in it that triggered this reaction - what would you advise?
Nassima (11/12/2021, 14:23:17): Is it possible that you applied it too close to your eye compared to your usual application?
Nassima (11/12/2021, 14:29:48): It seems that you're currently no longer there, so I'll have to close the chat for now. Please feel free to get back in contact should you need any further assistance or advice. We are happy to help!
