It's finally Friday,

and we are here to have some fun.

From the gym to the screen, yeah,

we cover it all.

Midday motivation every time you press

call.

Lunch with the Clydesdale.

Cowboy bring the heat.

Crossfit, boobies, music on repeat.

Half hour hustle, yeah,

we building that brand.

Grab a plate, tune in now,

you part of the fam.

It's lunch time.

What's going on?

Beautiful.

So I know we try to have a

lot of fun on this show.

We try.

But it is the twenty fifth anniversary of

nine eleven.

And I would be remiss.

We're going to do I'm going to talk

about it briefly.

Yep.

Because and then we're going to move on

to have some fun and give you an

escape for the day.

But yeah, nine eleven impacted us.

me and what i believe this country greatly

twenty five years ago uh my daughter was

six weeks old when nine eleven happened it

was the first week at a babysitter for

her my my wife's first week back to

work when everything happened um my

immediate reaction was how do i get to

my kid right and and hold her right

and uh thankfully the company i worked for

let us go that morning and uh i

went way too fast down the freeway to

the babysitter to get my kid and to

get her home regretfully my wife's company

did not let them go and my wife

was freaking out almost the entire day

But I had my daughter at home,

snuggled her, held her, did all the stuff.

I still have nightmares about what I saw

that day.

I could still see the pictures from the

news channels.

Like it's clear as day in my head.

Like, like it happened yesterday.

I saw,

I just brought my oldest to school,

dropped her off for schools right across

the body from where we live,

dropped her off at school in the car

line, got back.

And as I got back, um,

uh michelle had it on tv and the

second plane at the tower and i just

remember saying they were talking to

somebody who was in an adjacent building

whichever news channel she had it on and

the guy said oh my god there's another

one and it hit i'll never forget that

as long as i live i will i

Watching people jump from a hundred

stories up to avoid flames is a horror

that I cannot get out of my head

and I cannot unsee.

And it's something you don't ever want to

have to comprehend, right?

To have to make that choice.

And right now, I want to cry.

It's twenty-five years later,

and I want to cry for those people.

What I hate about this day is the

people trying to spin their conspiracy

theories today.

You've got three hundred and sixty-four

other days of the year to do that.

yeah let it ride people let it ride

today there were there were there were men

and women running toward danger that day

it's another thing that i can't comprehend

in my own world but i'm so glad

those people exist in my life yeah and

the fact that they ran what i would

consider the wrong way right to do

whatever they could to save as many people

as they could

that is something we should never ever

forget that there are people in this world

that run into the danger to save lives.

And that is pretty freaking cool.

God bless them.

I hope there's a special place in heaven

for each and every one of them with

what happened that day.

But we lost a lot of people.

We had a,

we had a person at my old gym

whose dad was in the tower that day.

and you know he tells the stories and

it is it's tough man and uh i

just want to give a second to commend

the people that did the brave things that

day um and i wish i wish on

september twelfth there was no

divisiveness in this country and i wish we

could get back to something like that

I think it's a hope and a prayer

more than a wish.

Yeah.

Every day I wish that I remember what

September twelfth was like.

And it was as tragic as the rest

of it was.

Those couple of days as a citizen of

this fantastic country that we live in was

it was amazing time to be alive.

Everybody had everybody's back.

It was amazing.

No matter what you needed.

You know, I grew up outside of Pittsburgh.

There's a memorial right outside of

Pittsburgh for a plane that went down

there that sometimes gets forgotten.

But it lost their lives that day.

Yeah.

We don't know where that plane was truly

heading.

We can make assumptions,

but there were brave men and women on

that plane that ran to danger too.

Ran right into it.

Quite literally ran right into it,

knew it, knowing it, it was a,

it was an un, unwinnable situation,

no matter what was going to happen,

but they tried anyway.

So I,

and who knows how many lives that saved.

Correct.

so with that our heartfelt thoughts in

person the family and the friends of of

people that not only died that day but

died from the effects of that day in

later years um it was a traumatic event

i will never forget it it will be

with me till the day i die and

um

And so this isn't a celebration,

this is a honoring of the people who

did the right thing that day.

When a couple people did the wrong thing.

Trent says, I was a freshman in college,

like day two in New York City,

and I could see smoke from the towers.

Can't even explain how that affected me

since that day.

I would say I know a part of

it there, Winter,

being as how you are now the police.

Yeah.

Shannon was supposed to fly to Laos on

the thirteenth to volunteer for a year.

Ended up leaving on the eighteenth.

Yeah.

My wife and I went to a Chicago

Bears game a month later.

There were like six people on our plane.

Yeah.

Oh, I'll bet.

I'll bet.

It was a weird and wild time, dude.

And just like you couldn't even bring a

car within a mile of Soldier Field.

They had it barricaded off because there

was so much like fear of what was

next.

Well,

everybody was waiting for the next shooter

drop,

like something else to happen directly

after that.

Right.

And just waiting and waiting and waiting.

I remember that being on edge like that

for months and months before people

finally started to kind of relax a little

bit.

I remember that time well.

Wayne has lots of friends who were at

the Pentagon that day,

still haunts many of them to this day.

I can't even imagine.

I mean, I watched it on TV.

I listened to Howard Stern that day

because he literally was looking at it as

it happened.

And a man who doesn't take many things

seriously became a serious journalist that

day.

And it was wild.

My ex-wife had went around from probably

the thirteenth through the fifteenth or

sixteenth and just took pictures around

where we lived of the unimaginable amount

of American flags that were on everything

that people just put up everywhere,

just says, you know,

show support as much as much as they

could.

It was an amazing time to be to

be alive at that point.

George Wang had a brother who worked near

the World Trade Center,

didn't get word from him until late

afternoon.

I know people were holding their breath as

to what happened that day.

But again,

I don't want this whole show to be

about this because this is supposed to be

the break from your stressful day,

the break from your special day or your

work day, whatever.

But it wouldn't feel genuine if we didn't

at least mention it.

No, we can't just skip over it.

I just got to skip over it.

But there's lots of shows doing a lot

of things today about it.

Even like ESPN did some nice tributes this

morning as they film a bunch of their

shows in New York City and they are

so close.

I got to watch some of those this

morning and they did a really nice job

with that.

Good on them.

One of the worst things is that

self-service was jammed and so you

couldn't even try to see if people were

okay.

I know.

It's crazy.

Last thing I'm going to say is like

when I got to my daughter and we

were driving home,

I had a Jeep at the time.

No top.

You don't realize how many planes are in

the air that you don't notice every day

until they're not there.

Until they're not there.

Yeah.

Yeah, it was.

Yeah.

That was like a very ominous type thing

that happened.

It's a similar feeling.

So right after a hurricane passes,

there's no birds flying at all.

And you don't realize it,

how accustomed you are to the noise until

there's none.

It is so bizarre, dude.

It's like this quiet still,

like the quiet after the storm.

That's probably where that came from.

Yeah, you just go in.

what's happening right now it's bizarre

but yeah same thing you don't realize how

many planes actually fly over you on a

regular basis until there's none in the

sky whatsoever uh shana lived next to an

airport the silence was so loud dude i

can't even imagine um so let's get into

a couple fun things um yeah please

Oh, my gosh.

Ramirez.

I'm going to show you.

I'm going to text him later.

I'm going to text him later.

Don't even worry about it.

I'm going to spam him with a bunch

of bullshit.

He's one of the ones that texted me

yesterday.

That was three minutes of our pre-show.

Oh, my gosh.

When we left the Pentagon this morning,

I looked up at the plane that was

taking off, and it was a flag plane.

It was so patriotic.

It was nice,

but sad at the same time.

Well, yeah, because you know why.

Yeah.

So,

Waterpalooza has announced two of the four

full teams now.

Dun, dun, dun.

The Battle of the Camps.

If that's something you...

care about um here is the proven team

and i don't know if you can see

it all it's pretty much what we predicted

oh no it's exactly who we thought it

was it's olivia kerstetter it is colton

mertens it is ricky gerard it is kyra

milligan it is maddie sturt and jay crouch

that's exactly that is exactly who we

predicted

In addition,

they just announced the Brute team.

This one does have some surprises.

So everybody was dogging Sprague from not

making the team.

There he is.

We have Emma Lawson.

We have James Sprague.

We have Jason Hopper.

And we have Dallin Pepper.

Those, I think we all kind of knew.

Yeah.

Did we know Janie Chevrie?

No,

I would not have guessed Janie Shevery.

She was not going to be on my

roster.

Did we know Eileen Wurz?

No.

Also would not have been on my roster.

So, yeah.

Was a little surprised about those two,

but, hey, good on them, man.

Hey, more power to them.

More power to them.

You know, Jane just missed the games.

Yep.

and i think oh yeah well no she

got in didn't she did she get in

on the last chance janie yeah uh is

that who made the last chance i think

that i think that might be gosh it

just was like um six weeks ago dude

yeah well aware where uh

Joseph said they're going to get to talk

to her live tonight on Dick Linton Things.

Which one?

Eileen or Janie?

I think Janie.

Okay.

Ramirez, correct me if I'm wrong,

but I think Janie's coming on tonight,

correct?

When he says she was.

Yeah, she was at the games.

It's all coming back to me now.

I think Celine Dion told me that.

But it's all coming back.

Dude.

But regardless,

back to the point I was trying to

make is that this is a great opportunity

for both Janie and Eileen.

Eileen, Eileen.

Come on, Eileen.

Let's go to Waza in South Carolina.

Yep.

Sorry.

Because it will give them an opportunity

on a big stage to get some experience.

Get some experience.

Get some more exposure.

And honestly,

and this is going to sound so freaking

participatory, but have some fun.

Because this competition, traditionally,

unless you're on Danielle Brandon's team

and she screams at you while doing worm

thrusters, they have a good time.

I want to pose this question because I

kind of

I kind of disagree.

Every team partner competition I've ever

done, the pressure on me was much,

much greater.

Yeah, I see that to a point.

Now,

after each workout and in between the

workouts, blast.

Hanging out with my best friends in the

world.

Loved every minute of it.

That moment on the floor,

I was even more...

I was afraid of letting people down.

Yeah.

So in twenty four, I did beach brawl.

I did individual on Saturday and we did

team on Sunday.

And I mean,

I want to do well doing individual,

but I really didn't care that much because

I just didn't want to leave my teammates

down the next day.

Like that was my biggest thing.

And I even told Bernard that one of

my best friends in the world who was

also on my team,

cause he was yelling at me the day

before about what I was doing on the

lift.

And I said, I don't give a damn.

I really, really don't.

I just found out I qualify for legends

and I'm,

and we're competing team tomorrow.

I'm doing this because it's fun.

Um, yeah, I, I,

I probably PR'd more things in a team

competition than I ever have doing it on

my own.

It's a different animal.

Anybody who's competed on any kind of team

at any kind of level will understand this

if you've done it more than once.

It is a different animal because,

first of all,

you're not working for that long at a

time, right?

You're generally going in small,

short sprints unless you have some

high-level thing where you get a big,

long team run or whatever,

which is not the majority of them.

You're working in short bursts and short

sprints.

and you're going to get up whether you

want to or not and just push as

hard as you possibly can because you don't

want to let the guys down next to

you end of story yep when that when

the when crossfit used the team series

which was my favorite event of the year

i it i i literally threw up for

a year

going so hard yeah it's the only time

i threw up like i literally would do

workouts and run out the back door and

heave after every event because i was so

anxious about letting my team down sure

because every year i would put myself on

a team where i was the least fit

right right so if anybody's gonna let him

down it was gonna be me and i

didn't want to be that that guy

Well, and you don't even,

it's not even that you don't want to

let them down.

You don't want them to think that you're

doing any less than your absolute max

every single time,

whether you are actually letting them

down.

Because if they're your friends,

they know damn good and well that you're

not trying, right?

But in your head, you're like, well,

I got to go.

I got to go.

I got to push it to one hundred

and fifteen,

one hundred and twenty five percent of

what I actually have,

because they're going to think I'm just

I'm just over here just dicking around.

I've got to show them I'm not dicking

around like it's a.

it's a mind dude that that on that

part of it well and I should have

told myself they wouldn't have picked me

yeah if they didn't like we work out

together every single day like they know

what my capabilities are yeah it wasn't

like they walked Scott walked in the gym

was like that guy right just randomly yeah

yeah no no we want that guy

Yeah.

So in other Brute news,

I don't know if you saw this,

but they announced the new members of

their team.

Now,

some of these I heard at WFP because

they competed at WFP and they announced

that they had moved over to Brute.

But Brute has released this,

and now we officially know all the new

roster.

And there's a big surprise on the last

slide.

Yes, we got Jack.

Not a shock.

Emma's already a brute athlete.

Now he's officially with her.

Yep.

Um, we have, uh, Jennifer Muir, uh,

up and comer doing really well.

Yep.

Uh,

we have Luca Jukic that was announced at

WFP.

Again, unsurprising.

Uh, Louisa Marquez.

I said Brazilian, right?

sure uh kike survey uh we have yep

yep we got her yeah norja bleaker

I know that is not the pronunciation.

I heard it like eight times at WFP,

and there's no way.

I feel like the sweet chef would probably

pronounce it a whole lot better.

It's probably how that goes.

And if not, you know, it is now.

Then we have Blair Cheney.

I have no idea who that is,

but okay.

And here's the big one.

Someone that has always announced that she

was going to stick with her coach that

has been coaching her at her local

affiliate, and that is Reese Littlewood.

Reese Littlewood.

That is her going to Brute.

That's Ortega's girl right there.

I'm telling you, she's my girl.

Like she's been on the show.

She is freaking awesome.

Her going to brute.

She's, she's someone to watch.

I,

I call it now in my way to

early prediction.

She will make the games next year.

I think this, this is a,

this is going to be the catalyst right

here.

Going to brute.

I mean, come on.

Their track record at this point.

That's the reason.

She's already shown the talent in all the

gymnastic stuff.

I mean, let's be honest.

I'm forty nine years old.

I could be like, I'm going to brood.

People are like, well,

he might make the games next year.

Based on that track record alone.

I mean, good Lord.

You add some strength to her.

And she's already she's already.

a danielle danielle level handstand walker

she's great at gymnastics joseph she's too

young for me to be making those jokes

dude yeah when i give her two more

years two more years and then we'll start

making those jokes about her uh

She's ready for the next level.

She is.

She was my underdog this year because I

watched her at Syndicate two years ago,

and she blew me away.

Yeah.

She is right on the cusp anyway.

Bubble athletes are my favorite athletes

because I'm also a bubble athlete,

so I'm kind of biased as far as

that's concerned,

but I love bubble athletes.

I'm telling you,

her plus brute equals no longer bubble

athlete.

So here's why I'll say that.

Bubble athletes, there's more story there.

Will they make it?

Won't they make it?

What are they doing?

Instead of the guys that are like, oh,

I've been in, yeah,

I made it the past five years and

I finished thirteenth every single time.

Like, okay, cool.

Nobody cares who you are.

Sorry.

It's just a thing.

Like, you're not moving up.

You're not moving back.

You're just kind of staying right there.

People at the very top...

that are fighting for podium positions,

the people who are on that bubble and

are trying to actively make it,

in my opinion,

is two of the best stories you could

possibly tell.

When she's asked, like,

you didn't make the games.

How upset are you?

And she says, you know what?

I'm only nineteen years old.

I've got a lot of runway and this

is where I'm supposed to be right now.

That's an elite mindset.

Nineteen year old has that comprehension

of patience and like none.

The limit does not exist.

None of them do.

I am fifty six and I'm maybe just

halfway to that point of comprehension.

Fair point.

Yes, Jaybert,

she's only she is just a sophomore in

college.

She's barely out of high school.

She went to prom like last year,

a year before last.

She almost made the games while she was

in high school two years ago.

Yeah.

Which is,

if you just sit there and let that

wash over you for a second,

that's an insane statistic.

Yeah, but to understand, like,

how many nine-year-olds are so impatient

that they've got to have it all and

they've got to have it now?

Well, they won it two weeks ago.

right and to to have the the forethought

to say nope i need to just develop

more and i need to get better this

isn't my time and i've got a long

runway to get there knowing that they have

time like no no i got plenty of

time i got plenty of time i got

i'm nineteen years old good lord

And you know what that also means?

And she does the class workout every day.

She does other workouts throughout the

day,

but she wants to hang out with the

people in her affiliate.

And when she comes to Syndicate,

her affiliate brings a shit ton of people.

And that's another thing that today's

athlete doesn't understand,

the support she gets from that community.

It's not fans.

It's not followers on Facebook or whatnot.

These are people that she interacts with

every single day.

So, and once you see her succeed,

see what she does.

I'm sure she wipes the floor with them

every single day.

Right.

But you know that even like people in

a, in a local fit have those,

those party tricks that they're really

good at that can push you in certain

elements, right?

And you and I both know when you

work out next to someone,

that relationship grows in ways that it

can't if you don't suffer together.

Absolutely.

Shared misery is a wonderful thing.

Beautiful thing.

I absolutely love it.

Is Brute the only major camp that doesn't

own a gym?

I can't think of one that doesn't.

I mean,

mayhem has mayhem proven has proven.

TTT has combined with Travis's gym United.

Yeah.

I can't,

HWPO has that thing up in Vermont.

I don't know if anybody's using it,

but it was really clean last time I

saw it, but they own it, but yeah,

but they do own it.

And that was purpose built for that much

like a proven proven and mayhem were.

So yeah,

they put regional rigs in that thing just

to train on.

so that when they would go to like

a semi-final or whatever it was the exact

same equipment they would see there yeah

and maybe they do train there right before

events

but do they i don't know i don't

know i don't pretend to know i don't

really care if i'm being completely honest

um i just i always thought it was

funny like you'd always see the videos of

the place and it looks amazing and there's

never anybody there but matt

I know this.

I know Justin Kotler is their head coach.

I know he lives in Las Vegas.

That is, I don't know if you checked,

but about three thousand miles from

Vermont.

Roughly.

And Alex Gazan is his number one athlete.

She also lives in Vegas.

My assumption is that training her in

Vegas is just easier.

It seems like it would be.

It seems like it would be.

It seems like they're not going to...

You know what we ought to do is

move to Vermont.

A completely different climate, altitude,

like the entire thing, time zone,

whatever.

I know everybody you know and everything

you know is right here in this town,

but maybe we should move across to this

admittedly state-of-the-art facility that

Mr. Fraser built up here in Vermont,

but

How about we just stay here instead?

Yeah.

Barry, I don't understand the question.

I mean,

Luca can be on whatever camp he wants

to be on to train and to get

programming and to compete with.

He's not on the battle of the camps

at Waterpalooza, SoCal.

He was just saying earlier, Barry,

was that he doesn't even participate in

the CrossFit Games season,

so why is he on their roster?

Because he's on their roster.

There are several other events that you

can participate in throughout the year,

especially in Europe.

Europe has a ton of mid-majors.

Him and his brother would go and compete

in all of those to win money to

support themselves.

Basically,

we're competing year-round for quite some

time.

uh wasn't was hwpo supposed to move to

boston i think their their executive team

moved to boston because that was matt

o'keefe and that's where matt o'keefe

lives right i don't think it was like

a physical move to another purchased

facility no but i don't think matt left

vermont i think that's just the the

headquarters for

all of their like all of their programming

pieces and their wow earthquake in

louisiana i'm just knocking just knocking

off my desk no big deal um i

don't think you could pry uh matt fraser

out of out of vermont with hand grenades

and a pry bar like he's not leaving

dude that's yeah grew up there that's his

hometown he loves that place and i mean

more power to him like i'm not leaving

louisiana it's fine

Corey's just mad.

He slammed his desk.

Not mad.

Clumsy.

I got a Bluetooth speaker up here and

I've just been messing with it the entire

time.

I just went ahead and knocked it off

my desk because that's the kind of shit

that I do.

Well,

I'll do all the sharing stuff and then...

Yeah.

The maple syrup's good there.

So I hear.

Yeah.

I love real, authentic, not Aunt Jemima,

not Golden Griddle.

It's not Aunt Jemima no more.

It'll always be Aunt Jemima to me.

Yeah.

And the Land O'Lakes will always be the

actual thing.

It's a whole different story.

Sacagawea.

But Golden Griddle, whatever...

None of that store-bought sugary stuff,

but the actual stuff that comes out of

a tree.

Yes.

Unprocessed,

just poured over a piece of French toast.

I am like...

Or a pancake or over some breakfast

sausage.

Oh, my God.

If you've never put syrup on a breakfast

sausage,

you are not an American as far as

I'm concerned.

All right.

I am not an American.

But anyway, but where I grew up,

these people do the homemade maple syrup.

Hold on here.

And then they make at the local fairs

and carnivals,

they make homemade apple dumplings.

They put a scoop of homemade vanilla ice

cream on top and then drizzle their

homemade maple syrup over the top of that.

Didn't homemade maple syrup just come

straight out of a tree?

Does that mean they have a tree in

their yard?

I don't understand what the homemade part

of that is.

Hey, it was homemade.

The tree's in their home,

on their homeland.

Got it.

Scott,

I'm going to need you to get some

breakfast sausage.

I've had it, dude.

Homemade syrup.

I've had it.

i don't want i don't want sweet on

top my savory dude yeah well you're not

living right syrup on eggs no if it's

the right kind of like if it's actual

not that like you said not the corn

syrup that's been tilted uh tinted brown

no not that but actual real come out

of a tree so squirrel was trying to

eat it uh maple syrup yeah

I want some good eggs.

I want some good breakfast sausage.

I want a biscuit.

Any day.

Yeah.

Wow.

All right.

I wanted to share this post with you

real quick.

How long could you keep this up?

You saw the first one?

That's about where I'd stop.

This is about, however many times this is,

is as many times as I would have

failed trying to do this.

There's no way.

I'm really good at wall balls,

but I am not that good.

He actually is hitting depth pretty good

for as quick as he's moving.

Now,

never getting to full extension to help

himself with that ball getting to the

line, but damn.

Nah.

nah also he's throwing that thing really

that's got to be like a ten pound

ball two ten pound balls hell it might

be a six yeah just i mean like

see how high it's going without him

getting to full extension there's no way

that's a twenty regardless the the clumsy

thing you talked about i i have that

gene too yeah just staying upright would

be hard for me

Well, like getting it started,

first of all,

I got to throw one and grab the

other one.

Like that part right there.

Like he kind of like shovel past the

second one, right?

Through the first one,

like an actual wall ball and just kind

of grab the second one.

No, thank you.

That looks terrible.

No, no good.

Look at Matt Sousa.

Yeah.

He had a good show yesterday,

if you missed it.

He had a fantastic show yesterday.

I enjoyed the shit out of his show

yesterday.

That was good stuff.

Yeah,

those are always a can't miss for me.

Because to be honest,

we don't touch on the affiliate side of

things probably as much as we should.

And that's where I get all my knowledge

about, because he runs an affiliate,

right?

A successful affiliate, as it turns out.

Yeah.

Yeah.

No.

I've been saying this for years.

Matt Souza is incredibly intelligent and

knowledgeable when it comes to that kind

of shit.

And I enjoy watching his shows because I

learn shit just about every single time.

And he's also got a very dry sense

of humor, which I also highly enjoy.

So, yeah, good stuff yesterday,

my brother.

Extension doesn't matter if the rep is

good.

Did he squat and did the ball reach

the target?

I wasn't calling him no rep.

I was just saying.

No, somebody else was.

Okay.

Yeah.

He's not helping himself get the ball to

the line by not extending.

No.

Which is why we're saying it's probably

got to be a six-pound ball at,

you know, a ten-pound at the outside.

Something along those lines.

Look at Ortega.

Ortega, your girl is now a brute athlete.

Yeah.

How do you feel about that, my brother?

Yeah,

you missed our Reese Witherspoon

celebration.

Reese Witherspoon.

I am terrible.

Reese Witherspoon.

Reese Withouterspoon.

If you didn't know, Reese Witherspoon,

Sweet Home Alabama, is now a CrossFitter.

Reese Bigwood.

Reese Littlewood.

Yeah, Reese Littlewood.

We did a celebration of Reese Littlewood

and her signing with Brute.

And Reese Witherspoon.

She's also a Brute athlete now.

She's a Masters athlete,

but she's definitely with Brute.

I just made that up.

It's fine.

It's fine.

It's definitely a thing.

And CrossFit will do a story on Reese

Witherspoon in about two years.

A hundred percent.

Absolutely.

Becoming a CrossFitter.

They'll see it from this show and be

like, hey,

that dude was talking about Reese

Witherspoon.

Is she actually a master's athlete?

I don't know,

but let's do a thing about her anyway.

Sweet.

Scott, you could have played that off.

I thought you were joking.

I was not.

I'm just dumb.

It actually brings up a topic I wanted

to.

If I read more, I'd probably be smarter.

It's not that I was doing a bit.

I'm just not real smart.

Oh, that's fantastic.

It brings me to a thing that I

was watching yesterday.

everybody knows i love music and i was

watching an interview with john resnick

from the goo goo dolls the lead singer

of the goo goo dolls and the main

songwriter i thought it was johnny

resonating we just well i thought that i

was doing that because we're friends but

i'm going to say do you know him

that well that it's just john do you

no no that's just john it's fine so

he was on rick beato's show this week

um talking about songwriting and gear he

uses and all this kind of stuff but

great interview but at the end of it

they talk about how ai is killing music

writing because young musicians are using

ai and resnick basically says the most

you're ever going to get from ai in

songwriting is a derivative of what's

already been done

Right.

Yeah.

And so the days of getting anything new

with young musicians is going to be hard

because they're all relying on AI to

finish off their music or to add a

component or to add strings or whatever it

is.

Right.

And he says that they play live.

They don't use background tracks.

They don't do any of that kind of

stuff.

And he goes,

I mess up all the time.

And I found that the audience actually

appreciates when I screw up because they

know it's real.

Right.

If I'm off key at a moment,

it's almost like they're like, yay.

Yeah, he's a human.

We're not suffering through AI shit.

Right.

he also say he'd give up forever to

touch you sorry i've been holding on to

that the whole time you were talking i

had to get it out they talked about

that song a lot but i imagine they

did i would imagine they didn't um i

just wanted to get your opinion on all

that because i've been saying for years to

my wife like

i don't care if they hit every note

perfectly i want to know that they feel

every note yes that's a big difference big

huge difference go back and look and if

you can find it's not that it's hard

to find mind you but like

concert footage or, or, you know, the old,

uh,

just live performances from old artists.

I hate to say it, but it's true,

right?

Old artists, whoever it might be journey,

Boston guys like that.

Um, old country artists, George straight,

George, see him at, see it,

see him live.

Right.

And it does not sound like it's not

perfect every single time.

Right.

It's not going to be.

When we saw the Black Crows a couple

weeks ago, a couple months ago,

whenever that was,

it did not sound perfect because Chris

Robinson was singing right there in front

of us.

And it's not going to.

I don't expect him to.

People said the same thing about Guns N'

Roses and Axl Rose a lot,

that he was a studio musician.

Because when you heard him live,

it did not sound anything like it did

on the stuff you heard on the radio

and on the recordings because you had a

million takes to get it perfect.

But if you saw him live,

it did not sound that way.

But you appreciated it because you knew it

was real.

Yeah.

I am so...

that is so my, my style of music.

And I know you can't stand YouTube,

but that's why I love YouTube because Bono

doesn't sing a perfect note every time,

but you know,

he means whatever note he's saying, right?

Like, no, I mean,

I can appreciate that point of it.

I just don't like that music.

Um, Wayne says like,

it's technically impossible for AI to

improvise, which is the beauty in music.

It is.

AI cannot have an original thought.

All it is really is an amped up

Uh search engine is really all it is

they can put stuff together from stuff

that it'll find here there and yonder You

can't it's not going to have an original

thought to be able to or feelings to

be able to write down Stuff that that

you would hear in music doesn't work that

way um talking about ai writing stuff and

I don't know if i've said this before

or not,

but like one of the beauty things I

love about brandon,

uh luckett is that

we will give him so much shit if

we find a typo in the programming like

one day he had uh like that we

had to finish a workout with like it

said a hundred calories for the guys and

eight for the ladies and i was like

well he's gonna have a real easy row

and that's like on that last one

He was like,

that's how y'all know I'm the one actually

writing this.

It's not AI.

I'm not just putting that out there.

And it's true because like he types it

all himself, puts it into the app.

And then sometimes it comes out great.

Sometimes he had me doing,

had us doing two hundred meter strict runs

the other day.

Not this week, but last week.

And I had to text everybody.

I was like, hey, bro,

what's a two hundred meter strict run?

I've never done that before.

And he's like, I meant stride, asshole.

And I was like, yeah,

I know what you mean.

I just want to pick that up.

Seema says her little sister purposely

messes up her IG reel so people know

it's authentic.

Yeah.

What kills me, or not kills me,

it tickles me sometimes is that

everybody's, oh, AI's going to do this,

AI's going to do that,

AI's going to do this.

It is so incredibly easy to pick out

when something is AI.

You can read through it one time and

know that, yeah,

this is probably not written by an actual

human being.

What I think would be funny is if

people went,

you had people go out and say strict

run and give them no directions and see

all the different interpretations of what

a strict run might be.

Oh, I got plenty from our text group.

Believe me.

Uh, means no knee bend.

That's one of them that I got.

Somebody was like,

I put on your knee sleeves,

put a PVC pipe through each one.

That way you can't bend your knees and

just run like that.

Uh, it means no hopping or skipping.

I want to say it's like you can't

run two hundred and one meters or one

hundred and ninety nine meters.

It has to be two hundred.

Sorry.

Not sorry.

Yeah, that's great.

Speaking of music,

I don't know if you know this,

but I started to play drums a week

ago.

I may have seen it.

I may have may have seen some video

footage of it.

May have may have.

So I posted a reel about it yesterday.

And I put it up on Tik TOK

and I got, I got a comment.

I don't usually pay attention to like all

that stuff because we put up a lot

of reels on here.

Um,

but this is on my own account and

I put it up on Tik TOK and

a studio musician from LA was like,

that's after a week, you're doing awesome.

And I, you might,

I could have floated across the floor at

that point.

Yeah.

Yes.

you too call me and then last night

i was like okay i've been doing all

this methodology maybe maybe i am getting

good enough that i can do a song

so i went to my little drumeo app

and i picked the beginner version of in

the end by lincoln park and uh no

kicking the crotch i am not good enough

yet turns out get back to methodology

Back up, back up a little bit.

Let me back up a little bit.

The Drumeo, the app that you're using,

the Drumeo people, their YouTube is,

they'll get drummers into their little

studio area or whatnot.

They'll play a song for them that they

have never heard but with the drums

removed and have them, dude,

that is fun to watch.

That's why I'm playing drums now.

Yeah.

I've watched so many of those videos that

I was like, I can do this.

Yeah, I can do this.

Got it.

No big deal.

No big deal.

To be fair,

I saw your reel and you looked like

you knew what you were doing.

Well, that's actually me playing.

That is the actual sound coming out of

my guitar amp,

which is not geared for my electric drums.

No, I didn't have the sound up.

I just said, you look like you.

The rhythm's right.

I'm playing it right.

It's a very simple money groove.

That's all we're at right now.

That's all you need, brother.

Drums is where it's at, dude.

Drums is where it's at.

Gotten back just beating on stuff the

entire time.

Sign me up for that.

It is such a good stress reliever too.

Well, yeah.

And it is way more cardio than you

think it is.

Oh, no.

I've always said this.

every drum I've ever seen has been skinny

as a rail.

And there's a reason for that because they

are busy.

Except for this one.

Well, you were brand new.

You were brand new drummer, Scott.

We'll get there, brother.

It's a process.

But you've never seen like every drum I've

ever seen because like you're,

swinging and beating and like you're doing

stuff the entire time you've seen guitar

people like if you've seen a concert

you've seen dudes just stop playing their

guitar and like go to adjusting stuff and

it doesn't really sound all that different

right yeah the drummer can't stop no they

got a usually got a bag full of

sticks next to them in case one breaks

they just got to grab it and just

kind of keep on keeping on

Um, drums is a workout too.

Yep.

It is.

Uh,

it's so good for your brain to learn

new things.

I had to do something cause reading,

it was not going to help me.

Once we gave up reading it,

the next best thing was going to be

learning how to play the drums.

Scott, are you building a garage gym?

I built a garage gym in twenty sixteen.

Yeah, it's I've added pieces to it.

I still use it four or five times

a day, a week,

not a four or five times a day,

a week, whatever.

It's like twenty five times a week.

It's fine.

Yeah.

I've got an assault bike.

I've got dumbbells.

I've got kettlebells.

I've got a barbell with about four hundred

and some odd pounds of weight.

I've got rings.

According to Winter,

you're going to start getting tattoos here

shortly.

I have a few.

Way more.

A lot more to catch up to Travis

Barker.

So he says in his documentary the reason

he got tattoos is so he wouldn't have

a plan B. Yeah.

A lot of musicians have said that.

It's like, no, I'm committing.

If I get shit, jelly roll.

What jelly roll else is he going to

do?

I do that shit all over his face.

Who's the other one?

Post Malone.

Teddy Swims.

Teddy Swims is

And I've seen videos of him interacting

with the public.

He's the nicest guy on the planet.

But you look at him,

and if you just saw him coming down

a dark alley somewhere,

you'd probably run the other direction

because he looks scary as shit.

Go to prison.

The other option is go to prison.

Yeah.

It's either tattoos on my face.

I got two things I can do.

Rob banks or play.

What do you call a drummer without a

girlfriend?

Homeless.

I read fitness came out with a new

treadmill.

It looks great.

I saw it's resistance built in.

I don't know about the resistance building

thing.

That seems kind of weird.

It'd be like running in sand, I guess.

Wasn't that what they had at Legends?

No, it was not.

They might have had resistance,

but it wasn't.

Because you could actually do a simulated

sled push on their treadmill if you

cranked it up to ten.

Yeah,

because they had the gear shift on it

looking deal.

Yeah, exactly.

My problem with those kind of things is

that,

and I'm looking at it from a practicality

standpoint, it's more shit to break.

I would much rather just get...

If I'm going to spend the amount of

money that those things normally are,

just give me the regular little Air Runner

because you just get on it and run.

No big deal.

Our next purchase is a rower.

My wife wants a rower again.

We had one.

We sold it to get the bike because

of my back.

The bike was easier on my back than

the rower, but now my back's good.

Now she wants a rower back.

We'll probably...

That's our next purchase.

And then I want a bench rack,

squat rack.

Oh, yeah.

Those shouldn't be that expensive,

I wouldn't think,

even from a Facebook marketplace.

I'm sure I'll find some.

You should be able to.

Or if not,

you can just walk down the street to

Rogue and see what they got in the

dumpster out back.

Pretty much.

Just walk up, dude.

around here i can just you know so

they they used to have a garage sale

i was about to ask you if that

still went on because i remember when that

used to happen i have not seen it

in a while i haven't i tell you

what man if you weren't usain bolt off

the line yeah you are literally people

would run and especially like the the

weight plates they would run and dive on

top of the spread eagle

and wait for their friends to come,

and then they would pick all the ones

they wanted.

These are mine.

These are mine.

I kid you not,

that's not even an exaggeration.

One guy run down and just spread eagle.

It's like a brother and sister situation,

right?

When he's like, I looked at it,

it's mine, type deal.

Like, whoa, hey, it's just a,

it's just a forty-five pound plate.

Not a big deal.

Which, to be fair, dude, like,

If they're selling at garage sale prices,

like that shit's expensive.

Their plates.

So, I mean, everybody's place,

not just theirs.

What's crazy back in the day,

the old games plates would be there.

Now they sell those at the games because

people want them with the printed thing.

Right.

But back when I was,

cause I started CrossFit in two thousand

eleven, man,

like you'd go down there and they'd have

like the plates from last year's games

just sitting in a pile of plates.

They had bars.

They had bars from the games.

They had like tons.

If there was like an apparatus from the

games that they were never going to use

again, it was in the garage sale.

Fun times.

I remember getting the emails about it and

thinking,

I would love to go up there and

go catch it, right?

Because you can probably come back with

some badass shit.

And then I remember hearing stories like

what you just said of people just making

a wild break for it as soon as

they open doors or whatnot.

I'm like,

I don't want to fight anybody over a

barbell.

I really don't.

It was mostly the super expensive stuff.

Like a wall ball is expensive, right?

For what you're getting,

it is really expensive.

People would dive into the pile of wall

balls and on the plates.

Those were the two main things.

You could get barbells pretty easily at

the garage sale.

You could get kettlebells pretty easily.

There was stuff that you could get not

too bad, but damn,

those couple things that were a little bit

pricier, really tough.

Yeah.

winter i'm not fighting anybody over a

barbell i have a shorty barbell that i

ordered from uh rogue um my my uh

my shorty one i'm going to get another

i can buy another an actual full size

my own barbell but i'm not getting a

rogue one i'm gonna get a uh oh

what's it called i got it saved in

here

hero when i get a hero barbell uh

there's still a garage sale section around

the corner behind the checkout always have

rogue invitational stuff yeah it's not the

same judy it's not like the old garage

sale like they they used to fly drones

over it to watch the carnage

It was like Black Friday mornings, right?

At the mall and whatnot,

and people just pressed up against the

door.

With a whole bunch of fit people.

Exactly.

Unlike Black Friday at the mall.

Yeah,

which is not a whole bunch of fit

people.

That's just a bunch of people.

My wall ball at home is from an

old gym that was getting rid of it

because it was ripped.

So I taped it up and use it

because wall balls are so expensive.

A little sand in the eye makes it

RX+.

Nothing like a little sand in the eye

there, Winter.

So if you go back,

like Savan did a video called,

what was it called?

It's the one about Miko Salo.

Oh,

I know exactly what you're talking about.

It's Sisu?

Sisu?

Sisu.

Sisu?

Sisu.

And Miko's wall ball was like a bed

pillow stuffed with duct tape.

And he would throw it on the outside

of his house.

he also did the the he's uh the

famous uh what is it miko's triangle yeah

in like this the dirtiest basement you've

ever seen in your entire life and hey

bro make do with what you got that

was i mean that was kind of the

glory years of crossfit the we don't need

air conditioning we don't need lights we

don't need heat dude i can't tell you

the amount of times like um

The power wouldn't get knocked out at the

gym.

During the middle of a workout,

nobody stops.

I'll grab my phone right quick,

turn on the timer, and be like, hey,

this is how much time y'all got left.

Let's go.

The power went out at our gym,

and it was dark inside.

They pulled up the bay door,

and the owner pulled his car up and

shined the headlights in to the gym,

and we kept going.

Yeah, we have.

So the panels in the roof have a

couple of, they're not transparent,

but there's like translucent.

So like the sunlight will still come in.

So if it's a power line down,

down the street, yeah,

the light might go out,

the fans definitely going to turn off.

but you still can see for the most

part,

see enough to do whatever it is we

were doing.

And yep, the music is going to stop.

Ain't a whole lot I can do about

that right this second.

Although now we have a battery powered

speaker, Bluetooth speaker,

so I can just hook my phone to

it and we can call it good.

Like we can keep rolling.

We're not going,

y'all keep doing what y'all doing.

I got the rest of this.

Y'all keep working out.

Don't even worry about it.

And now I think that's,

those are like the disconnect pieces now

with the

The elite athletes like having air

conditioned places to work out in and all

that kind of stuff.

That's the disconnect from like the roots

of CrossFit.

Not saying one is better than the other,

but like there was a grittiness to the

old school CrossFit that I think has been

lost along the way.

Well, I mean,

that's why we still write stuff on the

whiteboard every day.

I wrote the workout this morning when I

coached this morning,

wrote everything down,

wrote the warm-up down and whatnot.

We write everybody's name on the board,

everybody's scores and what weight they

lifted, all that shit.

We still do all of that by hand,

where a lot of places I've gone to,

it's just on a TV screen now,

and you can just go to the computer

and whatnot.

The computer might break,

the TV might break,

all that shit might go down.

The whiteboard is always going to work.

All we need is a marker.

Yeah.

I love watching the Burpee King on

YouTube.

Just a four by six space.

Get after it.

It's really all you need.

You can do a whole lot of fitness

in a very small space.

My gym got struck by lightning a few

weeks ago.

No fans, no music,

no lights for a few days.

We can still do music.

We got three different speakers in there

that are battery operated.

Once the big one would die,

as long as it had a good charge

on it,

we can charge it overnight and it'll play

all day from five o'clock, five and six,

eight, twelve, three thirty, four thirty,

five thirty.

So you're looking at eight hours of it.

being able to play at basically full

volume the entire time, not a big deal.

And then where there's two of them,

two little Bluetooth speakers on the other

side by the weightlifting area that if we

need to,

we can pull over at any given point

in time and just roll with those as

well.

You can play music off your phone,

not a big deal.

Like we are, we are,

we are around us anyway.

I feel like the Kings that we can

make it work,

like whatever you need to do,

we can make it happen.

I want to leave with just a fun

question for you.

Cause I was posed this question on

Instagram today and I thought I'd share it

with the group and yes,

get your vote for what this question is.

Um, sure.

So the question is who was the best

Hollywood quarterback?

Your nominees are Shane Falco from The

Replacements,

Mike Winchell from Friday Night Lights,

Paul Crew from The Longest Yard,

Willie Beeman from Any Given Sunday,

Ronnie Sunshine Bass from Remember the

Titans,

and Johnny Mox Moxon from Varsity Blues.

Is this really even a question?

Pain heals, chicks dig scars,

but glory lasts forever.

mean my initial vote was shane falco

pretty much hands down right yeah but i

don't want your life for a kid who

didn't really want to be a football player

he was pretty damn good johnny mox moxon

he was and i will say this as

far as like straight up talent and and

doing it in a different a different time

period sunshine was pretty damn good

But I will tell you,

who actually looked like a real NFL

quarterback was Willie Beeman.

Stephen Willie Beeman, yeah.

Props to Jamie Foxx.

He did make it look real.

Yeah.

Like, I love Shane Falco,

and I love his O-line.

Like, his O-line are my favorite.

Like,

they are all about the protection in every

single way.

Yep.

But, like,

he did not look like an NFL quarterback.

No.

Willie Beeman looked like a real NFL

quarterback.

Is it because he was left-handed and

you're not used to seeing too many

left-handed quarterbacks?

He just doesn't look smooth, dude.

I get that.

Have you seen the conspiracy theories that

say that Shane Falco...

Is actually Johnny Utah.

I've, I've heard that.

I've heard that.

I was getting confused.

Shane Falco confused with Joe Flacco.

And well, I mean, that's fair.

Yeah.

uh replace sandler with burt if you put

burt reynolds up there and his paul crew

that guy looked like that guy actually

played quarterback at florida state yeah

but i say he actually was a quarterback

so that's probably why they went with uh

went with stan with sandler instead yeah

utah my battery is just about dead on

this laptop because i plugged in the wrong

cord utah

me too well the reason i wanted to

bring this up is last night i was

watching the nfl game and uh and they

did an opening with a kyle chandler going

through speech lights and he's doing it

and i said to my wife clear eyes

full heart can't lose can't lose she goes

what are you talking about and then he

ends it with

Clear eyes.

Clear eyes.

Full heart.

Can't lose.

Can't lose.

She goes, how do you know that?

I'm like, Friday Night Lights,

how do you not know that?

How do you not know that?

Yeah, that's the real question.

I never wanted your life.

I don't want your life.

all right guys my my laptop is just

about dead uh so we're gonna get out

of here hope you guys have a great

weekend we'll be back for sunday night

crossfit talk at eight p.m sunday evening

and then this show will be back monday

for a couple days before i head to

montana and then i'll probably do some

shows live from there with that hope

everybody has a great weekend don't forget

to like and subscribe you wouldn't wait to

get to the editing room to jazz me

up i'm already jazzy

We'll be right back.
