Full show transcript:

I've created a secret handshake with well, you and I have a secret handshake. It's not so secret because people know about it. People have seen us do it. So it's not necessarily a secret handshake, but it is a private handshake between you and I. And then I've I've created a secret handshake with each of the kids.

So I was doing one with Emery, and it ends with a hip bump. And then I went, Beck, do you want to do a secret handshake with me? And he was like, Yeah, okay.

And I was surprised. Because he doesn't usually want to do things with me. Um, and then he and I have one, and I was like, How are we gonna end it? And I go, let's do a hip bump. And Emory goes, No, that's ours. You can't do a hip bump with Beck if you're already doing a hip bump with me. And I went, okay, okay, okay. What can we do? How can we end it? So we're ending it with elbows.

And are you saying elbows? Yeah. I've seen that. I have seen that. So uh here's here's a thing. Okay. Um there's a some other names. If you don't like calling it secret handshake. Okay, what could you do?

Because they're not secret, you know. Yeah, what could be called? Uh you could call it uh there are different organizations like Freemasonry and different um religious uh you know organizations that would use grip or token as the word. Uh-huh. Uh so those are a couple of things. But they're pretty secret. Those are like sacred tokens for like identifying other members and different things like that. Um, Dap. Like dap me up.

Yeah, but that is that has a different meaning too.

Sure, but it involves hand slaps, fist bumps, complex hand movements among friends and subcultures.

Ours is not necessarily complex.

Ours is.

You're we've got several different things. And I I think a DAP is a pretty good name for what what we've got going on. Dap me up.

I mean, we had to practice to get ours perfect. It's that intense. Right.

It's pretty, it's got a lot of movements. How many moves? We've got one, two, three, three, which we should make this like three, four, five. We should do that three times. Okay.

So you'd go one, two, three, four, five, thumb spin. Yeah. Huh. Yeah. There's multiple parts to that. But I like the one, two, three. I do too. I think that's I think that adds a little something.

You know what's funny? Is the handshake with you ends with us going huh? The handshake with Beck ends with us going elbows, and the handshake with Emery ends with her saying huh, and me saying hip up. Yep. All right. These are fun. They are fun.

Yeah. And ever uh the the kids were zero interested in having one with me, by the way. Oh. I'll just point that out. They weren't like, oh, Dad, we should have one too. Oh. No. Nope. I I'm just gonna point that out. That there's a there's a party happening, and I'm over here.

Did you I had to I had to be the one that brought the excitement to it. Like when I first presented the idea to Emory, I said, Do you want to do a secret handshake? And she went, Oh. I went, Come on, come on, come on. I had to amp her up. And then because we had fun with ours, Beck overheard, and then he was like, Yeah, okay.

Yeah, I'm just gonna give him a hug and a high five, I guess.

I mean, create the excitement for it. You gotta bring the heat if you want it. Okay, then don't. You can't complain about it. Then if you can't bring the vibe. Whoa. Without a hand. I hope. I always do. I always do.

Well, then I'm just not gonna have one. I mean, I want to do the vibes. Okay. Oh, anyway. All right. Well, secret handshake one more time. Here we go. Boom.

One, two, two, three. One, two, three. five. All right. Yep, all right. It works. It's pretty good. That's a proper length.

I feel like any more we'd be doing too much.

I agree. I also like that we can do it without like touching.

Isn't that fun?

I mean, that's a good thing. We can do it across the room. Yeah. How it's done. That's true. Cool. All right. Here's today's show.

Well, good morning. Hi. Yesterday you were wearing a vertical striped shirt. Correct. That you said was too large, too uncomfortable, too much fabric, looked like the duvet. And you were questioning whether or not it was gonna make it through the day. Yeah.

And here is what I know to be true. I got a notification shortly after the show that you had arrived at the house because of the the whatever the app is. Uh it life they said.

That's it. And it said prdunk. Chantel arrived at the house. And I said, Oh, she's changing that shirt. And then when I saw you later on in the afternoon, sure enough, different shirt.

Here's okay. Listen to this though. Okay. How dumb is this? I have a because we cleaned out the garage and in the garage, there was buckets of donation items. I moved those buckets to my car.

That's right. And they've been riding around in the car for me for four days now. And every day I go, Oh, I'm gonna take those to the donation center today. Uh-huh. And every day I come home and they still sit in my car.

Yeah. Now I came home yesterday and I said, Yeah, this shirt, every time I wear it, I feel exactly the same way. I'm just gonna throw this in the donation pile in my car. Guess what I did? You did not do that. do that. I took off the shirt, I put it on a hanger, I put it back in the closet. What is wrong with you? Why did you do that?

Because here's the other thing I know to be true. I got home to do my chores, and one of my chores I do every day is I make the bed. Uh-huh. And there was a hanger on the bed with uh some of like a different shirt.

Like there were like you would like tried an option, but but the fact is you hung that one back up, but then left a hanger on the bed. I didn't even notice. Yeah.

Uh I put it back on the hanger because I said this could actually be a cute, like oh, here we go. Under shirt.

Like under what? It's too big. You said it yourself, it's too much fabric. What are you gonna put that under? Settle down. I'm asking the real question.

I don't know. Guess what? Maybe I'll turn try it on and see under a sweater. And if it's too much under a sweater. Yeah. If it's too much, I'll throw it out.

I didn't think that shirt was gonna make the cut, but apparently. It's gonna sit in there. It's hanging on.

Here's what's gonna happen. It's so dumb. I am the dumbest. It's gonna sit in that closet until that the next time I look at it and I go, Yeah, I think I'll give this another try. That's a year from now.

Because you'll have forgotten that it will be less than a year. It'll be a couple of months. No way. Yeah, wait. Couple of months is winter. You're not putting that on in winter.

Yes, I am, especially if it's going underneath the sweater. But I'm gonna put it on again and I'm gonna be like, oh yeah, I hate the shirt. I'm gonna go home today and throw it out.

This has been a roller coaster of emotions around uh one shirt. But here we are. Here we are. And uh we're gonna work through it. You and me together, we're gonna take care of this shirt once and for all.

Oh man. Well, the shirt didn't make it through the day. Just in case you were wondering how that went yesterday. It did not survive the day. Poor shirt. It did not. But guess what? What?

That shirt, once I donate it, it's gonna be the best shirt for somebody else. You're right.

Somebody else. Somebody's gonna see that shirt on a rack and they're gonna go, this shirt looks awesome. Yeah. And they're gonna they're gonna not try it on because they're gonna be like, I can't be bothered. This shirt will look great. And they'll buy it and they'll take it home and they're gonna put it on. They're gonna go, this thing's too much fabric. And I feel like it matches someone's duvet.

It is a white button up, long sleeve with uh gray vertical stripes.

Yeah.

I should We should have taken a picture. I should have taken a picture wearing it, laying on top of our duvet. Yeah, and then you see disappear.

Oh, like camouflage. Right. Yeah. Sad little shirt. I know it. Yeah. Well, hey, good morning, everybody. Back in 2024, a formerly homeless Englishman, his name is Rise Wynn Jones. He stepped inside a church after hours and he played the piano. And a video of this performance went viral, which led to him getting some amazing opportunities, including performing with music celebrities. Uh since then, he has enjoyed a stable home life, which is amazing.

Yeah. And he has dedicated the last year to paying it forward. He still does not describe himself as a professional musician or a celebrity, but he uses his performances to raise money for causes linked to homelessness. And since his big breakthrough, he's raised more than fifty-four thousand dollars, and he hopes that his performances and his amazing story inspire others to help others who might be going through some tough times.

One viral video turned into this guy making something of his musical talent, and now he has raised $54,000 in the last year to pay a forward to help fight homelessness. That's so nice. Isn't that amazing? I mean, what a what a cool thing.

That's a really cool story. Actually, yeah, really, really neat.

Uh, and all sitting behind a piano. Yeah. Fascinating. I love it. What's his name? Uh I just closed it. Oh, it's okay. It's right here. His name is uh Rise Wynne Jones. Okay. R-H-Y-S. Okay. Yeah. Very cool. Yep. Well done. That's good news. Sixteen years ago at this time. I was in active labor. No, you aren't.

17 years ago this time. There you go. There you go.

Seventeen years ago. Yeah, dude. You were in at what time was she?

She was born at 8 34. Wow. A.M.

So you still have an hour and a half to go. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yo, yeah, an hour and a half of fun. 17 years ago.

I started telling her this story last night. And she goes, You tell me this story every year. And I go, it's a good one. You're supposed to like hearing it. That's a thing your mom did.

She would always on birthdays have like a like a miniature life sketch about everybody who I haven't heard that in a lot of years. She had like a whole written your mom didn't do that. I didn't have a life sketch read at my birthday. No.

I think it's important for your kids to know that they their parents, their moms suffered for them. I was a lot of pain. I think that's well known. No, but I need her to know.

I can tell you I was born in a hospital that doesn't exist anymore. Oh, sad, Josh. They tore it down.

I can tell you that when I started having contractions, I called my midwife, and she goes, if you're talking to me on the phone, you're not ready. Go back. Right. Go back to bed.

And and let's also celebrate. How rude. 17 years ago, you did give birth without medication. Like you did a natural birth uh with our daughter. That was incredible. Lots of women do that. I understand. You're one of them. It's amazing. So kudos to you, 17 years ago. Thanks, Josh. You're a beast. I was. You don't think you are now?

I don't know if I could do it now. There was a time. I know. I know. I was there. That I was like, no, no, no, no, no. I changed my mind. I want the drugs. And then my midwives were like, no, we talked about this. You're gonna do just fine. And I said, Where's Josh? Josh will let me have them. And you didn't.

I said, you have a birth plan. We're gonna stick to your plan. And you did great. Thanks, Josh. 17 years ago. I know our baby. hour and a half. I know.

Our baby is 17.

What in the world is going on? In the world.

I think we may be getting old.

Speak for yourself. I'm getting younger. Benjamin Button. Still haven't finished that movie.

She um has requested for her birthday dinner steak. Steak bites. Steak bites and roasted asparagus and roasted carrots and diced potatoes.

So I told her I was making hot dogs. That went over well. I said, I'll cut them up into little bites. You can have hot dog bites.

I always requested pizza on my birthday, but did you? Oh, always. Well, no, that's not true. Chinese food. I always requested Chinese food because we had a really good Chinese restaurant in old Burley.

In old Burley. Still around, isn't it? No. No? That's too bad. It was called George Kay's. Yeah. And now it's a steakhouse. Interesting. We loved that place. What did you always pick for your birthday dinner?

We went all kinds of different places.

I thought it, I think it's interesting. We didn't eat out often when I was growing up. And so the big thing for us when we could pick our birthday dinner was like, we're going out. Emery has requested to eat at home. Because she wants all that steak. I know.

She wants a pile of it. I'm worried I didn't make enough. So funny. Yep. Well, I'm going to be making up some steak. We are old, Josh.

You and me. It's okay. It's not.

We're dragging me into Europe.

being old. It's not a negative. It's a positive. Yeah. Wisened. Seasoned. Wisened. Yep. Oh. We are wisened. We are seasoned. We are. Tired. Yeah. Tired. We determined that you are the meaningful slash sentimental slash thoughtful one in our relationship. And I am the I am the goofy weird.

Always up for a good time one in our relationship. Okay. Um how did we determine that? Lots of different ways. Sure. One of the ways was you have built a theater in our basement.

Yeah, we have a nice home theater, big TV, nice sound system, comfy couch. Uh-huh.

And you want to hang up a movie poster.

I specifically have a very cool large uh movie poster uh for a river runs through it. It's a cool, cool poster. It's a fly fishing movie. If you haven't seen it, see it. It's a good one. It's a good one.

Uh it's got a very young Brad Pitt in it.

Yeah, that is true. It's a is a great movie. Yeah. So I have uh I have this poster. And uh it's uh it's not it's larger than a regular standard poster you buy at the store. It's big. So I want to frame it and put it in the theater. But if I hang up one, I feel like the other side of the room needs another one to balance it out.

There's gotta be some symmetry going on. Okay. And so I'm kind of like, let's find one that's sort of because I like this movie.

This is a fly fishing thing. It's very on brand for me. And we should have one that represents you. That makes sense. Yep.

And you said the Minions movie. No. No. You said Billy Madison. Yeah, you did.

You did. The movie you can quote every single line to, even without the show being on. Uh from start to finish. Yeah.

Because you've seen it four million times. And I I thought, yeah, no, that's that's very appropriate. That's on brand. That is that matches. Yeah. And that is a great representation of our personality. It is. I will watch a slow fly fishing movie. The nice message. Yeah. And you're over here going, too hot for a penguin to just be walking around. No milk will ever be our milk. Like you, it's one after another after another. Come on. It's Liffey's Your car is green.

But it has to be. I mean, it has to be if I'm representing myself.

Business ethics.

If I'm representing myself in that theater, it has to be that movie.

You got a responsibility. It's one after another after another. Who would eat 50 sack lunches? If there's a million lines you quote, what is a horseshoe? What is a horseshoe do? Are there horse socks? Yeah. All day I hear these lines. Yeah. I mean, for the past. 23 years been hearing those quotes. You are correct.

So it has to be. That's my movie poster. Yep. Without a doubt.

So now we have to buy a Billy Madison movie poster and frame it as well.

We were talking last week. Let me see if I can find the note. Um we were talking last week about like what's a movie quote that you would get tattooed on your body.

You were gonna get a blue duck because you've never seen a blue duck.

Oh, it's also from Billy Madison. Yeah. You actually found something that you were gonna, you were like, I don't know, I gotta think about it. And then do you remember what you were?

Oh it was from a river. A River Runs Through It. Yeah. Yeah, the line specifically is uh now I have to remember. It's the actual like the uh the actual movie quote. Um eventually all things merge into one and a river runs through it. That's the line. And that is very cool. That is very cool. It's a very cool thing.

So that's what you would get. Something sentimental, something thoughtful, something thought promoted. A little poetic, yeah. And I'm like, I'll get a blue duck. Yep. Yeah. And that describes our personalities. That is very true. All wrapped up in two movie posters. It's perfect. We're making it work, Josh.

Uh I have no problems.

I no complaints.

We learned last week. We are opposite opposites. Opposite opposites. That's the way it goes. It's working out, man. So far, so good.

I told Emory the other day that I think I'm allergic to pants that go all the way to the floor.

You like to show off an ankle. You are a capri pant kind of lady. Not capri.

Because capri is like mid-calf. And I'm not sure.

No, I think mid-calf is higher than capri. I would disagree with you. I think you have Bermuda mid-calf capri. Disagree. I'm gonna look it up. All right, look it up. Look it up. Go ahead.

Okay. So I typically when I wear my pants, well, first of all, I'm short. And so whenever I get a pair of pants, they're too long anyway. So I have to roll them up anyway. And then I just I don't know. I like the look of a rolled up pant with like a pair of sneakers.

I know that about it. That's kind of that's kind of my that's kind of my trademark look. So the other day it was a little bit chilly. I put on a pair of pants, and I said, All right, what if I just don't roll these up? And they looked so dumb. And I walked into Emery's room, because she is my style advice guru, and I said, Do these look dumb?

And she goes, No. They look like rug, they look like real pants. Like that's how they're supposed to be worn. And I go, I don't, I don't like them.

I don't think them. I don't think this is how they're supposed to be worn. And I think I'm allergic to floor leg pants. I don't think that I'm supposed to not roll these up. And she goes, Don't do it. Don't do it. Um as I was in her room, she was watching me. I rolled those pant legs up, and I said, All right, now I'm good to go.

Okay, here's here's the real deal. Okay. You have a classic full length pant. Okay. Which is what you're saying you're allergic to. Yeah. Also a stirrup can exist here. Ew. I know, but it does. It it does exist. A stirrup pant.

Stirrups were like my look in the sixth grade. Oh, yeah? Yeah.

They were your identity. You were a stirrup girl. Yes. Cool.

It wasn't my choice. It's what my mom bought me. Okay. Then see yours.

So classic stirrup all the way down. Okay. Capri is next as a low ankle showing. No way. Then seven-eighths is right above that, which is one fold. So capri is actually a cropped or hemmed uh short pant. That's a capri. No way. Seven eighths is one roll. Just above that mid-calf clam digger.

I thought a clam digger and a capri were the same thing.

They are not. Clam digger is your mid-calf. Then you move to a deck, which is a fitted press just below the knee. Then you move to Bermuda, then surfer, then jams, which is a full cut. Okay. And then boy short, which is short shorts. Yeah. But capri is the first step above classic. It's just ankle. Then seven-eighths is one roll, and then clam digger is next. I don't want to wear capris.

No. I think I've been wearing capris this whole time. Oh no.

You haven't. You've been wearing seven eighths because you roll it. You haven't been wearing capris at all. Capri is hemmed.

You've been wearing seven-eights. That's right. Okay. Are there pictures? I just have a diagram. Okay. Well, that's what I want to see. Okay. Okay. What did you Google?

I length of pants. Name of pant lengths. That's what I Googled. Name of pants. Name of pant lengths. Classic capri. And then it just keeps going. Pedal pusher is in there. Pedal pusher is just below the knee. Bermuda is above the knee. Jamaica cut shorts, short shorts.

You're telling me a capri is one inch above the ankle. It is right there. And it's hemmed. I don't well, mine aren't hemmed. There's just a roll.

Which is why you're wearing seven-eights, because our seven-eights is a roll. I'm breaking it down for you. According to the internet. Okay, well, do you think I look dumb? No, I don't think you look dumb. Okay.

Because that's what I wear. That's what I wear. Yeah. My pants are rolled constantly. Yeah. I wear rolled pants. Because you have little legs. I have little legs.

And they don't sell women's pants with an inseam. They sell them only with a waist. Uh-huh. And also, I typically wear chucks.

And so I don't have a length, or I don't have like a height.

Right. Which is which is just old school roll it up look from like the 20s, 30s, 40s.

I mean, that's my that's my go-to. It's my cold, that's my go-to jam. That's a good look. Okay. Thanks.

I mean, you could turn the chucks in for some kids. I wouldn't be mad.

Who sells kids anymore? Where can you get kids? In the stores, the internet.

I don't know. I'm sure you can. Probably the internet. But you know what I'm talking about.

Like just a white saw cop look. I like that. Yeah.

You could get black ones. You get some with flowers on them. I don't care. They don't want to just be white. Okay. Okay. I'm just saying It matches your rolled up pant look. Okay. I have a nice ankle. Okay. Good deal.

There I was cooking dinner last night, and I had just cut up some chicken, and you were preoccupied doing something else. And I had raw chicken. I had just had raw chicken in my left hand and my knife in the right hand.

Yep. And the dog starts to freak out because somebody's rang the doorbell. So I'm trying to wrangle the dog to settle down and try to figure out who's at my door. And I finally get the dog settled down enough that Emory can take her away.

So Emory picks her up, takes her away. I answered the door. I had my knife put down, so don't worry about that. But I hadn't had a chance to even wash the raw chicken off of my hand yet. So I'm standing there at the door with my hand raised.

So I'm not touching anything with it. I open the door and there's two door to door salesmen that's like, hey, can we talk about your gutters? And I went, Yeah. No. No, you cannot.

I'm in the middle. the middle. Well, you've got a nice looking house. It needs rain gutters. Because I I came around the corner and I went, Oh, someone's at the door. Yeah. And so then I went out there to get away.

I said, Tag you're it. I gotta go back to the kitchen to work on it. dinner. Yeah.

So uh seven dollars to ten dollars is how much it costs for a uh nice looking, no soliciting thank you sign. But uh are they required to abide by that? I just think uh if I have that hanging on the house and they come to the door, I'm just gonna point at it and then close the door.

Seriously, I do not like door to door salesmen, and it's not you specifically because he goes, Well, thanks for answering the door. A lot of people hate me. And I'm like, it's not you that people hate. Right. It's that you're at my house. It's at your house when I'm trying to cook dinner and you cost a whole kerfluffle in my house.

Right. And now I've got uh a raw chicken hand, my chicken's cooking on the stove. Yeah, and now I'm annoyed. And here's the thing. If I want your service, I was just about to say, I will come find you.

We've had our house since 2012. If I wanted rain gutters, I would have made rain gutters happen in the last 14 years. I didn't.

Well, and I stopped him pretty early on. I was like, listen, I'm sorry. I I have a lot going on. I I think our rain gutters are fine. Thank you so much. And he goes, Oh, but I went, no, but I've already told you no. Right. And he was like, but if you have like we just want you to be the model for the rest of your neighborhood. And I go, I don't care about that, quite honestly. Yeah.

And then you got a nice looking house. And I went, Yeah, thanks.

Here you come around the corner and I went, okay, you're it. I'm done. Yeah.

They had a lot less to say to me. Did they? Well, yeah. Interesting.

They thought they could swindle me. Is that what you're saying?

Well, I'm just saying, when I showed up, the sales pitch tweaked. And then he was like, Oh, you know, it's a nice looking house. And uh, you're kind of here in a good area where people could drive by and see our sign in your lawn. And we've got a deep discount for rain gutters if you want to put them on your house. And I went, I I don't. I don't.

I have to admit that I was a little annoyed when I opened the door because when I opened the door in Som and they had a clipboard, I went, Yeah.

Well, and what uh what else I thought was interesting is that the shape of our roof pretty much prevents rain from falling right on the walkway in front of the house because there's there's a uh I don't know the right words, but there's an eve that comes from the side there. So you have a little bit of uh a tiny tiny little bit of a roof before that eve comes up, but then all of the rain is where the walkway is not. So when it rains, it falls over on the flower beds.

You know what I mean? Yeah, but because of the point that's right there, all that water goes to the sides and then off the corners. So if I was going to do anything, I might put in like drip chain right there at those points. But I'm not putting in gutters, I don't need to.

But also, I'll come find it when I need it. That's why I haven't done it. Stop coming to my house. It's seven o'clock at night while I'm in the middle of cooking dinner. Now I'm annoyed.

And if I'm gonna do rain gutters, I'm gonna do a a water capture system so I can use the water for the garden. There you go. So I don't even want your gutters, my guy. Also no soliciting sign. Okay. It's how much? Between seven and ten dollars. Oh, we got blood. They're not expensive.

I just don't know if they necessarily adhere to those. They see them and then they just go, we're gonna disregard that. Well, I don't know.

I feel like this summer has been pretty exceptional. The amount of people trying to get me to change internet providers and home security systems and rain gutters and windows and every other thing. And again, like I get I've done that job. I did door-to-door sales with security systems for a summer, and it it's hard. And you get told no, and you're out in the middle of the day when people are at work and it's just awful. Yeah. But it's a job, so I understand, but also find a new job. Stop it. The only the only people I want coming to the door are the mailman and friends and family. It's pretty much it. Yeah, agreed.

The mailman, I could only if you've got good mail.

Oh, yeah. Because I don't want those boobs. Now stop it. We're bringing those.

I don't want to see, or woman, male person, male carrier. I don't know.

Or female carrier.

I don't want to see you unless you've got some good news. Yeah.

You got envelopes full of cash. Drop those off. Carrier, did you say? Yeah, you heard it.

You earned yourself a new nickname over the weekend. Gaslighter John. Or gaslighter Gerald as Gerald. did you say Gerald? I did.

Because it's gas, girl. Not ju. It's not gaslighter. It's gaslighter. And then you used J names, gaslighter John. And I went. That's not even alliteration. Nor is Gerald. Oh, sorry. I mean, if you're gonna give me a nickname, give me one that makes sense. Gaslighter Gerald.

You like to you like to gaslight a little bit. Who? You do. I don't know about that. I'm sorry. You should be. I just I don't even remember what we were even talking about.

Exactly, because it's not gaslighting. It is so. I don't gaslight people. You do. Prime example. Of what? That's not gaslighting. That's how you used to light your homes back before electricity. I think it was oil, not gas. Maybe gaslighter Gary. That sounds better. Yeah. Any g name. G. Yeah.

Gabriel. No, that's got too many syllables. Gabriel. That's three syllables. Yeah, there's gas. Gaslighter. Too many. Can't have that many. Gaslighter Gary. That fits. That's what you are. Grant. GG. Ooh, Grant would have been a good one. Grant's too cool of a name, though.

Instead, you picked John and Gerald.

I didn't pick Gerald. Why did I get this nickname? Because you were trying to gaslight me. I can't even remember what was happening.

Because I wasn't.

Uh, excuse me.

Why would I ever?

I can't remember what was happening. And I said, Oh, quit gaslighting me, gaslighter John. And Emory said, should be gaslighter Gerald for alliteration.

And I said at the time, these neither of these names are a alliteration. No.

George. Also, no. It's not. It's not. It's a ju sound. It's not the g. gu. Gaslighter is g. No kidding. George is not.

Gerald is not. John is not.

Look at the brains on this one. Oh, funny. I'm just saying, Josh, don't you gotta stop. You gotta stop earning that nickname. I don't gaslight people. Let me write. Let me look and see if I wrote down what you were gaslighting me about. Yeah. I'd like to know. I would also like to know.

Yeah, because I don't think I was. I think you felt like you were being gaslit, but you were probably just wrong about something. That's what I think happened. And so instead of just being like, no, you're right and I'm wrong, you're like, you're gaslighting me. There's no way what you're saying could be correct. It has to be a fallacy. You're making up. be possible.

You think? And so instead of just accepting that you were incorrect about something, you have to say that it's impossible for me to be incorrect. You have to be making up what you're saying to make me think that I'm wrong.

I'm that's not always the case. Here's what happened. I think you were you were being mean to me. You were bullying me.

Why are you always getting bullied?

Any Anytime talks to you, you're being a bully. Everybody is a bully. Because somebody probably said something that you disagreed with, and so you're like, you're bullying me.

You're right. Somebody telling me that a goat is my spirit animal.

That's not what we said. That's what they said over and over and over when you brought that up at home again. Both of them. We never said you're a goat. We You said you have characteristics of a goat.

Which is rude. And that's being.

And those characteristics were chin hair, snaggle teeth, cloven hooves.

Well, but wait. Snaggle teeth was never part of the equation.

A noise that goes, meh. who said snuggle teeth? I'm just talking about things goats have. Do I have snaggle teeth? A tongue what flops out the side. No, I'm not saying you're a goat.

Yesterday, somebody here at work said that I was, he goes, when you when you're that thing. So you're right. Nobody bullies me. I'm I am a victim. Wherever I here we go.

Who's gaslighting now?

I did nothing to provoke any of that.

Gaslighting Glinda. Good one. Yeah. With a girl, a guh. you are strong at comebacks today. You are very, very That's a well. I don't even know the right words to give to what you just did.

Yeah, exactly. No comebacks for you. Okay. Gaslighter. Gary. Glinda. Emory and I were talking the other day, and we were talking about what we would like to be known as when we die. Like what words would people use to describe us after we've passed away? Okay. And I've determined that I want to be known as funny, happy, and kind.

Okay. Those are good traits. I like that. What about you? Uh giving, thoughtful, and uh I I like kind. I think kind is kindness is huge. So I'm gonna steal kind. Okay. But you can have it.

I think giving and and thoughtful, I think are important too. Okay. Yeah. Good ones. Yeah. Those I think those are good ones. Those are good ones.

What else uh would be good characteristics to have. I mean, I think there's a lot. There's I don't know. There's a ton. I don't know why I want to be known as funny.

That's just important to me. Okay. I want people to think I'm funny. How's that going? No one has ever said that. No one has ever said that.

I disagree. I've been there when you've been told that you're fun and funny.

Fun is different than funny. For sure I'm fun. For sure.

That's not in question ever. I'm always fun.

I'm not always fun. That's that's a ill correct statement. Because there have been times where you, my family have been around and and you're like, you are no fun.

I don't know that they've ever said that about you. I think uh family said that about me, certainly. Oh. They've said, like, what's wrong with him? Why isn't he having fun? It's more fun when he has fun. Why isn't he having fun?

I always think it's more fun when everybody's involved in the fun. And if there's somebody that's like, oh, I'm gonna sit this one out. I I totally understand your reasoning, but it still makes me sad because I want everyone to participate. Because it's more fun when everyone participates, isn't it? Isn't it? It is. Okay. Okay. You don't want to be known as funny or fun.

I mean, I would hope that people are like, I had fun being around him. But I don't necessarily like I'm not worried about people going like, he was hilarious. Like I'm not some comic. Like, that's not my guy.

No, I know. That's I That's either, but I want to be known as like fun or funny. Oh man, she was a riot. Okay. Like if somebody's giving your eulogy. No, I understand. I want people to be like, yeah, yeah, she was pretty good. Okay. That's all.

Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. They can stand up at the thing and they go, oh man, that lady, I tell you. She was a good one. Lots of jokes.

Man, oh man, she was always cracking jokes. Yeah, oh yeah. Oh, yeah.

That's what you want. That's how you want it to go. Oh man, let's all just for a minute, let's just think about a funny time. Oh, isn't that fun? Yeah. Yeah. She's a good one. That's how I want it to go. Okay.

That's exactly how I want it to go. Uh-huh. When people are remembering me, be like, oh yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I remember. I'm gonna miss her sense of humor. That's that's what I want people to remember the most. Yeah. You don't act like you're agreeing.

I just it's fine. That's if that's what you want, that's great.

Okay, well, if I die before you, then you have to make sure.

Then I go up there and go, oh yeah, yeah, yeah.

Yeah, you guys remember how funny she was. Oh, I tell you. She's a good one. Something cool happened yesterday.

I got an email about this. Yeah, really cool thing that happened yesterday. Uh the Idol Falls mayor, Lisa Burton Shaw, officially named September 19th. This Saturday. This Saturday uh is Idaho Falls Arts Day, uh, which is really cool. And the entire day is going to be filled with uh all kinds of different art uh around the Idaho Falls area. And then it there's a big giant 90s throwback mixtape live concert that is free in downtown Idaho Falls, uh, which is gonna be a ton of fun. They're blocking off the whole street, they've got a stage that's going up. Uh, and I know I'm gonna be there and you're gonna be there, uh, which is really cool. So you can stop by uh and you can you know find us there. Uh let's see.

But the Arts Day, it starts at 10. That's what I was gonna say, yeah. 10 to 2. Okay. The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho is gonna be doing oversized prints using hand covered wood blocks and a full-size steamroller. No way you can create your own custom print on a t-shirt or a canvas tote bag while supplies last. That's cool. Then uh at two different times from 11 30 to 1 30 or from 145 to 345, there's gonna be free live jazz outside of Pachenga's Mexican restaurant. And this is presented by the Eastern Idaho Jazz Society. Nice.

Then from two to five, you get free admission at the Artitorium on Broadway. Okay. And you, if you've never been there, that's the coolest place to be. Yeah, interactive art, uh, very, very cool.

Yeah. Then at 5 30, there's gonna be a free Idaho Falls Symphony concert in the park at Freeman Park Amphitheater. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets for an evening of music under the open sky.

They're presenting Sounds of America. Okay. Then at 6 p.m., the Idaho Falls Arts Council is going to be doing season preview uh for their upcoming shows inside the colonial theater. Gotcha. And then there's gonna be live music with a 90s mixtape band at 8 p.m.

So that's gonna be a lot of fun. And it looks like the colonial theater is doing free popcorn water and soda, and they will have because it's the 90s, you gotta have it, a street party, a bunch of glow stuff.

Yeah. So there's a bunch of glow swag that'll be handed out as well. It's gonna be a lot of fun. So if you uh want to check it all out, that's all happening Saturday.

It's a full day of art. Yeah, and and the proclamation from the mayor, I was just looking at it right here. It just says that like whereas the arts inspire creativity, foster innovation, preserve cultural heritage, and enrich the lives of individuals and families throughout the city of Idaho Falls.

Uh, and it goes on to talk about all of the different things that'll be happening. Uh the Greater Idol Falls Transit gift will be providing complimentary shuttle service between the participating venues so the community members can easily experience the day's events. Um, all of these organizations have joined together to present Arts Day September 19th. And therefore, I, Lisa Burton Shaw, mayor of the city of Idaho Falls, do hereby proclaim September 19th, 2026 to be Arts Day. Arts Day. Super cool. Yeah. So I love Arts Day.

of art. Uh, and that's gonna be what Saturday the 19th. Uh-huh. So uh take part.

There's a lot going on. It's gonna be tons of stuff in downtown Idaho Falls and at different venues, and you can get, I'm sure all of those details are online somewhere.

Um, I know you can go to Idahofalls Arts.org and there's gonna be information there. You could also go to the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho to get their information. The Symphony, I'm sure has their information. Perfect. So go check out art on Arts Day.

Definitely come see us at Street Party on A Street, downtown Idol Falls on Saturday. I'm gonna be there. I will be there. It's gonna be a lot of fun. So come hang out. Wear your 90s garb. Yeah, dress up in the 90s stuff and come get some uh neon glow stuff. It'll be fun. It's gonna be a party.

Okay, I saw this question yesterday, and I thought it would be hilarious to ask you. What is something that I complain about constantly but continue to do anyway?

Oh, I'm I there's gotta be a just a bag of examples. I know.

Whenever, Okay, in 23 years of us knowing each other. Uh we have learned how to communicate a lot over the years, and there you are a fixer. Sure. By nature, you are just like a here's a problem, fix it. Yeah. And there's lots of times where I just need to complain or vent.

Sure. And there were a multitude of examples where I'd come home from work or a bad conversation, and I'd be like, Oh, I just have to get this off my chest. And you'd be like, okay, how do we fix this? And I'd be like, I don't want to fix it. I just want to complain about it.

Right. And so then we learned that you would start out by saying, Do you want a solution to this problem or do you just want to complain about it? I'd be like, I just want to complain.

I think the and I do that less and less these days. Like most of the time you just want to complain. And I've figured that out. So I just go, okay, go go ahead. I'll just be over here listening.

Um listening is a loose. term. What? I I think you pretend to listen to the side. I listen. I listen. And I don't judge. Well, half of the time you walk away when I'm in the middle of a story, and then I stop and you go, I'm still listening.

Yeah, but I got other things to do. You've got to get it out. I'm listening, but I'm also trying to do stuff.

Just gonna start following you around.

That's the that's great. Do that. Like, oh, we're going over here now. That's right.

But you most often do have a good, you pretty you're pretty good about coming up with solutions to problems that I have.

I like when you're telling a story and then you're like, and then I said this, and I go, there's no way you actually said that. And I go, Did that happen? And you go, No, but I should have. And I don't include it in the story. If it's not part of the thing that you're trying to tell me about, then don't add these embellishments of like, and then in my head, this is what happened.

Because that is not reality. No, but no, but this is what I wanted to have. So that's a thing that you do anyway. That's not reality. It's not something you complain about. No.

Can you think of anything that I complain about, but I continue to not solve the problem and I just do it anyway.

I mean, besides me, like you you complain about me, but then continue to be like, yeah, but I still

uh I mean there's the good qualities outweigh the bad. So still hang out.

Something you complain about, but just I mean, work in general. You complain about like I gotta go to work. Yeah, I don't want to go to work.

I just uh I just saw a TikTok where a woman had all these post-it notes on her computer about why uh reminders of why she still needed to be there. Yeah, that makes sense. Gotta pay the bills. Yeah.

Um I think you complain about like, I don't have time to do this, or I don't have time to do that. Or just earlier you were like, the internet is boring, but then you're still like, what's going on on the internet?

What am I supposed to do while I'm sitting here?

You just said waiting. I need something else to do because the internet is boring. It is. And I was like, well.

But that's true. I do complain about like, oh, I don't have time to do this, and then I'm sitting on the couch, like scrolling. Right. I what I need to do here while I'm here, because listen, we're here for I'm here for four hours.

Right. And we talk on the radio, and then there's like parts where the music goes, and then I don't necessarily know what to do in that downtime. And you and I have to give you projects. No. Um but I thought about bringing something to do, but it feels like a drum kit.

You're just gonna practice drumming and before. No.

I should get an electric drum kit. I've brought a book before, but it feels wrong. I need to ask my boss if that's okay.

You should stay like he's gonna give you jobs.

I know he is. I can't.

Then let's give you jobs to do. Let me give you tasks that you can like enjoy. So you don't have to go to your boss and go, hey, uh, I got this downtime in between stuff.

What can I fill it with? Because he's gonna go, cool. Here's a list of stuff you don't want to do. No, yeah, don't tell me. Let's find find some stuff that you you want to do. Okay.

Okay. Nobody tell my boss that I've got some downtime. In between songs, like in between breaks. Yeah. Where we play like three songs. You're like, I got 10 minutes. What am I gonna do with this 10 minutes? I hope he's not listening. Because I can't talk to Josh Moore.

Well, listen, sometimes we just do an awful lot of talking to one another. Awful lot. Wow. Whatever. You've said that before. I've never said. Are you insane? You have. You've said before. We talk a lot to one another. We hang out a lot. You've said that. Have I? Yes, you have. Don't. What was the Don't gaslight Gary?

What was the context in which I've said those things? Were you frustrated at me? And I said, Maybe we've spent a lot of time together.

No I think I've just been chatting too much sometimes. And you've been like That never happens. You're talking a lot. And I'm like, yeah, I know. What else are we supposed to do? I don't know.

The other day I did say, you know, maybe a little time apart might be okay. You said that? Yeah. This was like before Labor Day.

Did you say that out loud to me, or

did you just say that in your head? Bringing it back up.

Oh, yeah, you did say that. You said I need a break.

That's what you're doing. I don't add the made up parts of the stories like you do. Like when I tell you a story, all of it's true. There's not a part in there where I'm like, and then this other thing that I made up.

That I wish it happened. Yeah. And I go, did they say that? And you're like, no, but that's what they meant. And I go, that's not what happened. You can't add your own interpretations into the story.

Yeah, I can. And I do. I know. So you did say you needed a break from me the other day. A couple weeks ago. Weeks ago. Yeah, you were like, I think I know. I need to. I still haven't got one. I'm just kidding. Go then. Where? Go. Where am I gonna go? Get to go. today. Go on, get. No.

I'm gonna see you more today than I've seen you in most days. So you're welcome. Because you're all like, I'm gonna go home after the show, and then I'm gonna go to lunch. And I'm like, yeah, I'm going to lunch too. Yeah, I know. Yeah.

I took the day off so I could spend it with my daughter on her birthday. And you were like, well, I'm gonna come too. And I went, okay.

What's she my daughter too, bro? Okay, I guess we want to celebrate your daughter's birthday with us. That's fine. Give me a break. Would you rather this or that?

Would you rather have a 9 a.m. meeting or a 4-30 meeting every day? 4 30 p.m. Oh, okay. Like you're leaving at five o'clock and your boss is like, nope, ready for our 4 30 meeting.

How long is the 4 30 meeting? Because here's here's the deal. A close out meeting so that you can be prepared for the next day that's a standing like 10 to 15 minute meeting as you're getting ready to leave.

Fine. Where you like it depends on what your job is. Right? Like I if I've been working all day and I have a report at the end that I have to like uh meet with the team and I have to do like we have this standing 10-15 minute meeting at the end of the day where we all go, okay, here's what happened. Here's or if it's a change of shift and you're going, here's the here's the plan, here's where we are. Like doctors in the ER and stuff, like and the nurses. They've got to do a debrief to go, here's the patient load, here's where we're at with this, and you gotta hand things off. That's gonna be an end-of-day meeting. Okay, so I'm cool with that.

Okay, if it's that, if it's that function, if it's just hey, here's our strategic planning meeting and we're doing it at 4 30, and it might not be done by exactly. I'm not I'm not into that. Okay. So I'd rather in that situation, I'd rather that meeting be early.

Oh, like right when you get there. Sure. Oh no. Oh, I wouldn't mind that.

Sit for a minute and again, if you're working in the same situation where I just said with doctors and nurses and turnover and shift change and all that kind of stuff. If you're getting to work, you're having that same meeting. You're going, okay, tell me what I need to know because I'm getting ready to work. Here's the here's the handoff, and then you start your day.

Or you walk in and you go, All right, here's your strategy meeting for the week. Let's go. Here's the plan. Here's what you got to get done.

Here's the focus, here's the the things. Ready break. But again, 15 minutes. Every meeting should only be 15 minutes. There's no reason to have a meeting longer than 15 minutes.

I 100% agree.

So I'm fine with either so long as it has an agenda and it's limited to 15 minutes.

I'm gonna pick 4 30, but it's gotta stay 15 minutes. If it goes past five, I'm out. I'm gonna stand it up and walk it out. I say that I am gonna do that. I'm a big talk.

That is exactly right. Look at you. Look at all the big talk you're spewing. Oh, yeah, I'm walking out. If this thing hits 445, I'm gone. Watch. Watch me. Yeah. 445, 446, 447, 506. I'm gonna stand up in two minutes.

I promise.

I swear. I swear. I'm done here. This meeting goes five more minutes. I'm out. Yeah. That's like when I say one more cast.

Yeah, exactly. This one's gonna bite. Yeah, no, this is the one.

That wasn't the one. One more cast. I'm gonna leave. I just gotta catch one more fish. It's gonna be this cast. Would you rather this or that? So we didn't really uh get to say goodbye today. A lot of stuff kind of happened in the studio. Things got a little bit crazy. And so uh the end of our show.

Yeah, our boss came out. came

in and was like, what are He was like, Do you never say that again on the ring? No, it was nothing like that. We just had a whole bunch of conversations happening. And so we weren't able to kind of do our final like hey, see you tomorrow, uh for the show. So I just wanted to say to the podcast listeners, thanks for listening. We'll see you tomorrow on the show. Uh that was really all.

I just didn't have to do that. We just needed to end it. Yeah, there was no like, yeah. There was no uh goodbye, see ya or anything. So we would just left.

Anyway, so goodbye. See ya. Thanks for hanging out. And uh we'll have a brand new show for you tomorrow morning. All right. Goodbye. Okay. bye.
