Sweat & Equity Show

What is Sweat & Equity Show?

Global speaker, advisor and wellness entrepreneur Ariel Belgrave, peels back the curtain on about what it takes to build, grow, and sustain an enduring business in the industry. No gatekeeping allowed!

Ariel Belgrave: The fitness and
wellness industry teaches us how

to be exceptional at what we do.

We get certified, we coach, we teach, we
train, we motivate, we show up for our

communities, but we're rarely taught how
to turn our passion for this work into

a business that's actually sustainable.

A business where we're not
always trading time for money.

A business where we can grow
our impact and our income

without burning ourselves out.

A business built on ownership.

Leverage equity.

And the reality is conversations
about building fitness and wellness

businesses like these do exist
and are absolutely happening.

They're just happening behind
closed doors or rooms that may

not always feel accessible.

It's giving gatekeeping.

And guess who's here to change that?

That'll be me.

Put me in, coach.

Welcome to the Sweat and Equity Show.

Now, before we go any further, let
me take a moment to introduce myself.

Hey y'all.

I'm Ariel Belgrade, but you
can call me Ari, and I'm the

founder of Gym Hooky Media.

I've spent the last 11 years
building a portfolio of fitness

and wellness brands for women.

Five years as a side hustle While I
worked in banking and tech and six

years all in, I've coached one-on-one.

Taught group fitness online and in person.

Built programs and digital products,
spoken on stages, hosted wellness

retreats around the world, launched
a merch line, partnered with dream

brands and companies, worked in media
and commercials and so much more.

So let's just say I've seen this
industry from a lot of angles and

trust and believe, in this time.

I have learned a whole lot.

As someone who kicked off my fitness
career as a creator, I quickly learned

that my personal brand and content
helped me open doors, but it was my

big girl business decisions and systems
and teams and strategies and tools that

helped me walk through those doors.

I also learned that success in this
industry doesn't come from doing more.

It comes from thinking
and moving differently.

It wasn't one program, one
viral post, or one big break.

That changed everything for me.

It was how I thought about my
business, the decisions I made,

the investments I made, the
relationships I built the people.

The people I surrounded myself
with,, the team I hired.

'cause yes, getting help, but I didn't
always think this way in the beginning.

My formula for increasing both my
income and my impact was more effort.

If I have more sessions, if I
create more output, if I post

more content, if I just do more.

It would all work out well,
spoiler alert, it didn't.

It actually led me to bring out, and at
some point I found myself asking, dang, if

I'm this skilled, why does every part of
my business still depend on me showing up?

If something were to happen to my
body where I needed rest or recovery,

how would this business survive?

And that's when I realized passion
alone wasn't gonna pay these bills

and help me build a sustainable
fitness and wellness business.

I had to shift from thinking like
a trainer, a coach or creator,

to thinking like a founder,
A CEO, an operator and owner.

I had to move from being a doer to
becoming a builder, from focusing

only on the work to understanding
how the work fits into a bigger

system and an ever changing industry.

And this shift changed the
game for me and this show.

Is where we're gonna talk all about it.

Not just what looks good online and on
ig, but what actually works over time.

I'm excited to take you behind
the scenes of my own journey.

No gatekeeping here.

The thinking behind the decisions
I made as I build and scale, and

I'll bring in some of your favorites
in the industry to talk about how

they've built their businesses too.

We'll talk about the wins.

The trade-offs, the pivots, the mistakes,
the brand deals, the strategies, the

burnout, the hires and fires, the
seasons where growth meant letting go,

the money conversation, because that
part and the mindset shifts You'll also

hear from experts who will help you
understand things you need to know as

you build, as you grow, as you scale.

Because trust me, there
are levels to this.

And listen, I truly wanna see us all win
and believe that we can all eat at the

table, that we can make a profit from
our passion and we can take ownership.

Of our craft.

My hope is that each episode
sparks something in you.

Maybe you'll have more
clarity, more confidence.

You'll take action, make better decisions
in your business, or simply remember

that you're not alone and you feel seen.

So officially, welcome to
the Sweat and Equity Show.

for some real conversations.

Where we'll go even deeper
into these conversations.

I'll drop the details below in
the show notes for your reference.

think of three fitness and wellness

professionals in your network who
could benefit from these conversations.
