Charted

What is Charted?

Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.

We need not go to heathen lands, or even leave the narrow circle of the
home, if it is there that our duty lies, in order to work for Christ. We
can do this in the home circle, in the church, among those with whom
we associate, and with whom we do business. – Steps to Christ, pg. 81
“Josh, what do you want to become when you grow up?” an
elderly lady from my church asked.
Answering with confidence, I replied, “I want to be a
missionary in some remote part of the world.”
“Well, now is a great time to start,” she advised.
I had been brought up with stories of mission pilots who had
circumnavigated the globe. My idea of a missionary was someone
who travelled to distant, exotic lands where people were cannibals
and wore almost no clothes. They had to be like Nate Saint or David
Livingstone and leave their motherland to save lost souls.
I thought the way I acted at church and home didn’t influence
others or have any effect on their spiritual lives. However, when that
lady spoke those words of wisdom, I realised that I was already a
missionary for God. There were people around me who didn’t know
who God was, and I believed God had put me in the right places
to witness to them. I was now employed and working under God,
spreading His gospel. For some time after that experience, when I
was asked the question: what do you want to do when you grow up?
I would reply, “I’m already employed by God to witness to the people
around me.”
