What is iGaming Daily?

A daily podcast delving into the biggest stories of the day throughout the sports betting and igaming sector.

speaker-0 (00:00.076)
We've been waiting a decade for GTA now too. I just think that it's two different spaces and casino content can be similar. There's always room for the games with the longevity that sits and grows in your lobby, but there's also room and a need for content that captures attention based on what matters to the players today.

speaker-1 (00:02.732)
Yeah.

speaker-2 (00:23.406)
In the very competitive iGaming world, one developer is taking a deliberately different approach to content. And today we're gonna find out who they are. Welcome to iGaming Daily, brought to you by Optimove, the creator of positionless marketing and number one player engagement solution for iGaming and sports betting operators. I'm Fernando Nott, media manager for SVC, and your host for today's episode of iGaming Daily, where I'm joined by two of MoFo's finest, Jess Collin, brand manager at MoFo.

And Jenny Strandberg, CEO at Mofo Girls, how are you today?

speaker-0 (00:57.336)
Very good, thank you. We arrived here in a slight drizzle so my feet are still wet but other than that, grand.

speaker-1 (01:04.268)
We're good. I mean, we showed up in a freaking Lamborghini, so we're great. It's been my it's been my office the whole week.

speaker-2 (01:10.592)
I mean money isn't everything, but when you have a Lambo, I guess it's probably a little bit easier. Yeah, absolutely. But I was saying, Mofo probably some of our listeners, some of our audience doesn't know about you guys. So just I'm gonna start with a very simple question. Who the F is Mofo?

speaker-1 (01:29.624)
So honestly, we're here to kind of shake things up. We're kind of here to be a bit disruptive as well. And but you in in short, we're we're an instant game studio. I think what makes us really interesting is the attitude behind the team and the energy we put behind it. And essentially what we're doing differently is we're looking at culture, we're looking at trending topics, we're looking at everything relevant in the world, and we we're really, really keeping on trends. So honestly.

If if you see trending news out there, we can make a game out of it. We can make it happen. We're just here to be to make a lot of noise and and be fun. Whilst making really cool games.

speaker-2 (02:08.84)
Okay, I'm looking forward to it. But so you're you talked about trending content and of course Jenny casinos traditionally work months ahead, and casino developers work months ahead with the content and and how they develop their their their content. so is that like out of date right now where where everything is like immediate and and pop culture is like the most relevant thing right now?

speaker-0 (02:35.278)
I don't know, I don't think it's outdated. I think there's a need and there's room for both types of content. If we would draw a parallel to online viewers in general, we have billions of hours being consumed over instant content from Reels and TikTok and whatnot. But we're all still very happy to wait 12 months for the next season of our favorite series. We've been waiting a decade for GTA now. I believe we have. I just think that...

It's two different spaces and casino content can be similar. There's always room for the games with the longevity that sits and grows in your lobby, but there's also room and a need for content that captures attention based on what matters to the players today.

speaker-2 (03:18.622)
Yeah, all right. And of course Mofo is a quite a unique name. so it it really pops up. So what's the first reaction you had Jess when you first heard of it?

speaker-1 (03:30.176)
It's memorable. And I feel like you hear so many companies in iGaming and you you forget the name within within five minutes. You have to, you know, you have to check on on socials and so on. But we definitely don't have that problem. So we try and be a little bit fun, a little bit provocative, a little bit naughty out there. But I I think it it does help. Like it it does keep an image in people's minds. Right.

speaker-2 (03:52.15)
And Jenny, do you think that going back to content and and immediacy, do you think like developers should have like and casinos should have two different strategies or or a dual strategy where you have the evergreen games on one side to be permanently like relevant and the those player favorites that they always go to and the relevant ones on the on the immediate side like pop something that happened recently or

A pop culture reference, something like that.

speaker-0 (04:23.546)
Yes, that's exactly what I meant when we spoke about Everwing content. I think we've been chasing players for years with copy and we just... and banners and increasingly, know, bolded fonts trying to get their attention. And in reality, they came here to play. So why won't we just have what they came for as the marketing message? And that's kind of the space that we want to capture.

that you were not saying that the evergreen and the longevity of the games, the most beloved instead of games in the game lobby should should be replaced. But we're saying that we can create something that you can use as your marketing message.

speaker-2 (05:01.582)
And of course Mofu has a very unique approach. So Jess, what do you think it actually does that's different from your regular DCN?

speaker-1 (05:10.882)
We're brave. We're really freaking brave. Like we're not afraid to go look at something and go, you know what? That's completely ridiculous. That's a bit too out there. Let's see if we can make a game out of it. Yeah, I mean that's we're not trying to make everything, you know, polished and predictable. Like we are here to kind of rock the boat a little bit.

speaker-2 (05:31.904)
And how do you determine do you actually determine what's relevant like any trends that are happening? Of course you're not gonna pick up every trend. Okay. Like some may be relevant to a casino developer, but some may not. So how do you determine which is something that you wanna pick up and make a game out of?

speaker-0 (05:52.864)
I would say honestly, it's really not up to us to say and dictate. mean, sure, we have our ears to the ground and my own screen time for them would be embarrassing to share, honestly. I also have a background in operators, so I like to think that I have a good idea of how I can support other operators and how our games fits into their journey. But at the end of the day, every casino knows their players best.

So we want to work individually with casinos and they will tell us what matters to their players today, what's coming up next month. And we will grab those ideas and we will make them into something playable.

speaker-1 (06:32.888)
But also to add from that as well, so I also Philippe Lisa with my background in media as well, cause your background with very B2C. So we kind of think of everything as a whole. So our customer is B2B, their customer is V2C, and essentially we're thinking about everything. So we're also kind of predicting things for clients, kind of giving a more a consultative approach as well. So we can we can kind of look at someone's lobby and like, you know what, we think for

you know, where they're for where they're based. We can look at certain trending topics in that exact area and we can really, really target the games to to the player and really really maximize on that as well.

speaker-2 (07:09.75)
Yeah, it's a very interesting approach because like right now everybody is like moving from one thing to the next, no you know, like something happens, th everybody's all over that, but then the next day maybe something else happens and everyone keeps forgetting about the the last thing and they're moving on.

speaker-1 (07:25.074)
And that's the great things about us. I I mean we're we're pretty freaking instant. So if we we see something out there, what's going on, can make it.

speaker-0 (07:34.098)
The strategy is not for us to go down 150 games, so what we think is the most trending topics and then just kind of hope that it works for the casino. So strategy is to tailor and custom make games for each individual casino.

speaker-1 (07:46.638)
No, for sure. And we can also kinda roadmap it as well and we can we can kinda predict it and kinda forecast as well, which which is kinda cool.

speaker-0 (07:53.294)
Give us the CRM plan for next month and we'll you done.

speaker-2 (07:57.25)
Alright. Right now we're gonna do a very quick outbreak, but we will be right back with more with Mofo. Learn how Optimov's positionless marketing is changing how iGaming teams operate. Discover how operators are using Optimus positionless marketing platform to launch personalized CRM campaigns, dynamically change casino lobbies and bet slips and create engaging gamified experiences. Learn more at Optimove.com. And we're back with more iGaming Daily here with Mofo, Jess Collins and Jenny Strandberg. So Jess, so

Mofo is all about making noise. What do you think making noise actually means?

speaker-1 (08:31.926)
Honestly, just making us impossible to ignore really, right, Jenny? I think you know, being visible and not being scared to be a little bit edgy. I honestly do I'm a I'm a firm believer and with my background in PR, I don't think I think all attention can be good attention if done right. And I think I think we do a good job a good job at making a lot of noise. Yeah. We were quite literally arriving at people. Once they were walking into SBC.

Yeah, okay.

No, I just think it's just about being visible and and consistent as well.

speaker-2 (09:10.542)
Yeah, absolutely. I think that Lambo definitely make you visible up front here at SBC Summit. But now I want to play a little game because we're talking about games. And you guys, we've been talking about like the immediacy and the content that has been happening like that happens and how you pick it up immediately or or you decide out what to pick up immediately. So we're gonna play skin it or bin it. something that's happening, whether it's a game

I don't know, a situation, anything you decide whether you dis you make a game, you skin it, or you discard it, you bin it, you move on, you pass from that. So EA Sports Football Club 27 is coming out. it has this packs opening mechanic, people like to to like pack open packs and and I mean that trans

speaker-1 (10:03.224)
Cardrail And like when different mechanics would work well with that too. Skin it. The skin it

speaker-0 (10:04.148)
Yes, yes. You could play for the rep.

speaker-2 (10:13.838)
And of course, probably the pop culture event of the year of the decade is gaming related, video games related, GTA six coming out. You said something, Jenny, in the first half about GTA. So I think I already know the answer. Skin it or bin it?

speaker-1 (10:31.694)
So funnily enough, we've we've done it, we've skinned it. We've skinned it.

speaker-2 (10:39.362)
Looking forward to playing the not only GDA six but also the game. Yeah, definitely one of the main events of this year, GDA six launching. But another main event every year is the iPhone launch. Would you make a game about iPhone?

speaker-1 (10:55.085)
It's

speaker-1 (10:58.732)
Yeah, no bin it, been it.

speaker-2 (11:01.098)
Okay, so TikTok. A viral TikTok trend explodes, like really blows up. And are you do you guys have TikTok? Do you do TikTok dances?

speaker-0 (11:12.878)
did not do the dances but I know all of the TikTok trending sounds. was gently singing for Jess yesterday.

speaker-1 (11:19.624)
Or serenade it. So you know what? Skin it You know what? Skin it, for sure skin it. Ooh my favorite top.

speaker-2 (11:25.336)
Yeah, yeah, okay.

go to sports. Sport topic. Football, soccer, basketball. A player gets transferred last minute to a different club, a different organization. Absolutely.

speaker-1 (11:40.206)
Skin it'll be skin it. Absolutely skin it skin it. I just think there's especially there's so many relevant moments in sports and and we just had the cricket as well, the cricket, like yeah, honestly skin it.

speaker-0 (11:50.754)
Honestly, I think it's a gorgeous moment to be able to work on the cross-sell between sports and casino. The impossibility over so many years now, we will get is sports better to be attracted into casino. Make the casino game into a game that they resonate with. They came to bet on their team, give them a halftime play-on.

speaker-1 (12:01.475)
Yeah.

speaker-1 (12:07.756)
Our games. Then come on, F1 games. Super freaking cool.

speaker-0 (12:10.732)
Right. Skin it.

speaker-2 (12:13.518)
I was hoping you said that. So my dad is a big fan of Wordle. Like every morning, every morning in his five AM, like, what are you doing awake dad? He sends me like, okay, so I'll solve the wardle. I solved the wardle in like three tries. Would you skin it or beat

speaker-1 (12:31.182)
You know?

speaker-0 (12:31.502)
I think it could be a very interesting minds game. I don't I will go into mine

speaker-1 (12:36.814)
I think it depends on the mechanic. My thing's mine could work. Maybe mines. Okay, skin it, skin it. That's what I'm going We're gonna have to make it happen now.

speaker-0 (12:46.51)
I mean for that

speaker-2 (12:49.792)
Yeah, yeah, that one goes to that. Yeah, thank you. He'll he'll appreciate it. He'll appreciate it. Celebrity scandals, everybody loves a celebrity scandal. No, that least. so with this any celebrity scandal, something happens and

speaker-1 (13:05.006)
I personally believe skin it. But but it has to be

speaker-0 (13:11.594)
Stay classy though, I think that is something that we can...

speaker-1 (13:14.232)
No. PR bad Brown. Honestly, I think yes, get in the moment, get on top of it. I think if it's done right, we can definitely you know, we can definitely maximize on now for sure. Yeah.

speaker-0 (13:26.934)
it in the right scams.

speaker-2 (13:28.942)
Okay skin it. Skin it. Let's skin it. Let's skin that one. And I think this next one is also gonna be a skin it because I know I would. Political situations, elections, like breaking political news something happens in the political scene. Skin it or be next.

speaker-1 (13:45.752)
So I think this one's really good because you can be very you know, we can really focus on geolocation. So we can really maximize with our clients that are, you know, in in certain parts of the world, especially like Latam, especially with what's going on there. I think we can be very, very strategic with how we skin it. So I think absolutely yes, skin it. Skin it. That's trending topics. Yeah. 100% skin it.

speaker-2 (14:08.096)
Absolutely. And finally, artificial intelligence is has been all around I don't know, like d you know the brain rods or something like that. skin it or bin it.

speaker-0 (14:20.428)
I think by... yeah, my first off the top of my head, I would say Binnet. It feels like, again, sort of an over discussed topic. But then again, I mean, like we said, bring us the idea and we'll bring the game. I feel... Probably put a spin on it if that is something that works for the audience. Maybe, maybe. All right. We skinned most of these, right? Yeah.

speaker-1 (14:34.808)
We

speaker-1 (14:38.366)
Datrix.

speaker-2 (14:42.35)
I think we're you have some work to do now. Going back home. so Jenny, Jess, thank you very much for joining iGaming Daily. I think everybody now knows kind of who Mofo is. So I'm sure you'll get a lot of messages after this. You'll hear more from us. Wishing you the best of luck going forward. And yeah, thank you very much, Naya McDonald, for producing this episode. I'm Fernando Nott, and to our listeners out there will see you in the next one. Goodbye.

speaker-1 (15:11.244)
