game of this three game set.
Texas trying to avoid a seventh straight, did
not stutter on that seven straight road series
loss.
Hard to believe.
We know that this is a much better
team at home than on the road.
Seven straight road series losses.
That almost feels like hard to do.
I don't know about you guys.
That, that almost feels difficult to do at
this point.
She will see if they can come back
here.
We will have looks like coming up in
the top of the ninth Peterson Freeman and
Carter.
So you got a pretty good band and
a pretty good band to put it all
together.
Peterson just missed one earlier on in the
game.
Oh, for one came into pinch hit, gave
it a ride.
That's sky high man to the track and
just did not quite get over the wall.
Trevor Megill, by the way, coming in for
the brewers here to close this one out
on the season.
Megill will give you some of the numbers
to 28 ERA.
He has 24 saves.
Looks like in terms of blown saves, just
two on the year.
He does have three losses to his name.
And so at this point, Rangers are going
to have to figure out a way against
one of the league's best.
Look Megill in his last outing against the
Mets on the 25th.
So it's been about four days since he's
pitched, did allow three base runners in an
inning and a third, but no earned runs.
And over his last 15 games, Megill is
sporting a 0.59 ERA one earned run.
Am I injecting this conversation with hope right
now?

that doesn't hit many homers, he sure acted

forever in a day, rounding the bases on
his home run.
I don't even care how far Contreras has
went, man.

that is holding an entertainment show for about
an hour, rounding the bases.
But Cody Freeman stands and admires a fly
ball, a home run for three or four
seconds.
And we got to make sure we say
something about it.
Come on now, man.

The pitching has been pretty solid.
Drohan, I wouldn't have maybe said as a
guy you were super worried about.

Evan Carter, a little charge in this one,
but it is going to be caught right
before the track.
Rangers are gonna drop this one by a
score of 5-3.
They go down 3-0 early.
Cal Quantrill, I don't want to say rusty
or shaky.
You know, Cal just got hit around a
little bit early on, but you had him
retiring 14 straight brewers to end his outing.
It's hard for me to sit here and
get on Cal Quantrill.
I mean, Cal gives you a quality start.
He is totally outperforming any expectation you had
of him.
And Cal gives you another chance to win
today.
I mean, Cal allowed four base runners all
night long in six innings of play.
I mean, it's just the Cal Quantrill stuff.
Nobody should be saying anything about this, Matt.
Nobody.
I really felt like I exercised good discipline
because I know there were some people firing
off, you know, oh, it had to come
to an end sometime when it came to
Cal Quantrill giving up those early deep balls.
But at the end of the day, he
goes six.
He allows three earned runs, four base runners.
And look, two of those base runners were
homers.
Eight strikeouts, retired his last 14.
Yeah.
Yeah, I cannot go Cal Quantrill slander at
all tonight.
If anything, you got to go praises.
You limited one of the best, if not
the best team in baseball to four base
runners.

The only chance for the Rangers to win
is for the pitchers and the bullpen to
combine for a shutout.

I mean, come back here in the eighth

It wasn't untrue.

And the Rangers, at least it looks like,
lose a close game, right?
Pretty much, Brewers had this one in hand,
I would say a majority of the game,
right?
At no point did you really feel like
Texas was super close.
I mean, you had some opportunities.
The Rangers left seven on base.
They were one for four with runners in
scoring position.
On the flip side, Brewers were three for
seven with runners in scoring position.
Brewers have just played better.
I mean, look, I think it is 100
% fair to say, hey, the Brewers are
a good team.

Brewers are a good team, no doubt.
And it's hard for me always to know
exactly how comments are intended, but I'll just
say what this comment makes me think of.
It's just that there's no time.
There's no time for anyone to be qualifying
losses.
I don't care if the Brewers are a
good team.
And again, my guy, I'm not saying this
comment is, and what I'm about to say
is directed at you.
It's just what it made me think of.
It cannot be something that we do, qualifying
losses at this point in the season.
You have 26 games left.
You have 26 games left.
It doesn't matter who the opponent is.
You have to win games.
You have to win ball games.
And maybe there's going to be some people
pointing to the Houston loss today that does
make it a little better.
Depends on how you look at it, or
does it make it more painful?
Because you could be gaining ground, but instead
you're doing this.
I just can't qualify losses anymore.
There's 26 games left in the year.
This isn't March.
This isn't April, hey, we just ran into
a good squad.
I mean, with all due respect, what are
we going to be facing in October if
we're lucky enough to make it there?
What are we going to be facing?
Probably good teams, right?
So for me, I'm not interested at all
in gassing up the Brewers.
Don't even need to do that.
We all know they're a good team.
That being said, this game was not out
of reach, and the pitching that we faced
was not so lights out that a comeback
is just totally improbable, impossible.
You face Drohan, who came into this with
a near four ERA.
The bullpen guys that they face today, Megill
excluded.
Megill has been very, very good for the
Brewers, but Senzatela and Patrick, I mean, both
those guys have been like solid, but not
locked down, shut down.
I just can't sit here and just say,
hey, good team.
Rangers had their chances in this one, man.
They really did.
Are we making it to 500 this year?

I mean, look, the Rangers, if you just
do the fast math, they would have to
go 16 and 10.

I mean, 15 and 11 doesn't sound like
the most difficult thing in the world to
achieve, but this is the 2026 Rangers we're

complicated, but then again, we have watched this
team for many games and I do think
if you have sat through all 136 gamers
at this point, you probably understand why 15
and 11 raises some concern, raises some doubts.

Screwed it today.
I mean, sure.
No doubt all three of those things played
into it, but really at the end of
the day, the offense just didn't hit enough.
You didn't score enough runs today.
You had two big hits, Freeman and Nimmo
that, that made this respectable, but you just
didn't have enough, enough hits today.
You didn't have enough big hits today.
And you had some opportunities, right?
Duran had a first and second two outs.
You had some opportunities, right?
Jansen had a big opportunity.
He had a two out AB with a
runner in scoring position that didn't work out
like the Rangers had chances today.
I definitely have to push it back to
the offense.
I understand like the Freeman, you know, running
into the out at home is frustrating.
Zeke Duran, you know, getting moved from center
field.
The second base kind of boots the ball
around a little bit.
I mean, I get those things add up,
but the offense just did not hit enough,
man.
They didn't.
You had, you know, Jansen 0 for 4,
Ohoppy plus Peterson 0 for 4.
You had, you know, the middle, the heart
of the order guys, Langford 0 for 2
with a walk.
There just wasn't enough today.
Was not enough today from the bats.
For me, I don't even know if they
showed RJL.
Did they show the replay?
Was Freeman getting waved home on that one?
Anybody chime in.
I don't know if they ever showed the
replay on that.
Was Ragsdale waving him home and he was
just following orders or was that him trying
to be aggressive?
Did anybody actually catch that?
I had the broadcast guys in and out.
I really can't listen to Smoltzy and, and
the Fox guys for too long.
I had it on for a little while
after the Cody Freeman thing.
I'll admit I got a little pissed off
and just said, man, forget these guys.
I'm just, I'm just going to listen to
this one a little more quietly.
I turned up the volume whenever there was
a big play or anything like that, but
I just didn't care for the in-between.
Yeah.
I'm not sure if it was Cody getting
waved home or if it was him trying
to take that extra base and just be
a little sneaky, but either way that was
big.
That was big.
Rangers are going to have to try to
salvage a game tomorrow.
You got Kumar Rocker on the bump.
Uh, I gotta just be real.
I think this is a nightmare matchup for
the Rangers Kumar Rocker on the Hill.
I hope that I'm totally wrong and totally
off base on this one.
And I'll be happy to eat a massive
plate of crow, but I don't feel great
about the game tomorrow.
And I don't say this all the time.
You guys, you guys know this.
I'm not always glooming and dooming, but I
just don't feel it's a very good matchup
for Rocker.
Uh, this team, this Brewers team, they have
a great eye, great play discipline.
They take a lot of walks.
We know that Rocker very susceptible to the
walk.
This team does not give away a lot
of it.
Bats.
They are going to make Rocker work tomorrow.
I just don't anticipate a great game from
Kumar.
I really do hope to be wrong y
'all.
Uh, again, I'm not constantly proclaiming L's if
anything.
And I think some of my long-time
listeners can attest to this.
If anything, I'm, I'm always mostly trying to
find the reason to feel good about a
game, but the offense has looked bad.
Uh, the offense really hasn't looked great all
week.
I mean, you had the Chicago games, but
I think I kind of clarified this.
Like I know we scored a lot of
runs in Chicago, but it just doesn't hit
the same for me.
You can say, Hey, 22 runs in the
white socks series.
But the more I reflect on it, it
just doesn't hit the same when, you know,
most of those runs are being scored when
you're already down 10, one, right?
I mean, that, that was the story of
the Chicago series minus Monday night.
Monday night was a good game.
Rangers scored a ton of runs, but then
going into Tuesday and Wednesday, just from there
just felt like most of the offense came
when the game was out of hand.
Uh, and then in the other game, what
was it?
The finale or, or maybe the Tuesday game,
I'm forgetting which one long week offense just
got shut down.
Right.
So at this point, I'm not really taking
away a lot of positives from the Chicago
series.
I think, yeah, in a vacuum, 22 runs
sounds great, but let's just focus in on
tomorrow's game.
I'm not sure who the pitching matchup is
yet.
I don't know if they've announced it.
Let's see what we got tomorrow is, uh,
May.
All right.
So righty four 56 ERA may did not
throw a lot.
Uh, didn't he just throw one pitch and
then had to exit pretty sure in his
last start, he threw like one pitch and
had to exit the game.
Yep.
He did.
He threw one pitch, did get an out,
but the ball deflected off him and he
left the game that was on the 26th.
So they're starting them again here on the
29th.
He has kind of gotten lit up.
I mean, Milwaukee versus Seattle, he allowed seven
earned runs.
He allowed five earned runs in a game
on July 18th against the diamond backs.
That was when he was pitching for St.
Louis.
He's been a little bit up and down
this year, but I just go back to
Kumar rocker.
I mean, this is again, an offense in
Milwaukee.
That's going to make you work.
Kumar already has issues limiting pitches.
This team, this brewer's team takes a ton
of walks.
They attack baseballs in the zone and with
Kumar rocker and the way that he holds
runners or doesn't hold runners very well.
I can imagine the brewers are going to
be trying to exploit the running game on
him.
I can't say I have a great feeling.
I don't want to go on and on,
but I do not have a great feeling
about the Rangers salvaging a game tomorrow.
Hope you'll be wrong.
As I said on the show last night,
this team is so unpredictable.
Tomorrow could be an excellent Rangers win, but
I think on paper, it does not look
like a very promising game for Texas.
Let's see what else we got.

A road trip has mirrored the Tampa Bay
Houston trip so far where we win the
first game and lose the rest.
So frustrating.

We're talking about the end of July, right?
It's like the end of the month, the
end of the month blues for Texas.
They really have had some issues on the
road.
I think when you go to the standings,
it'll back that up pretty nicely.
Rangers this year are looks like 30 and
40 on the road.
You're 10 games under 500 on the road.
It's just been an issue for them all
year.
There's seven games above 500 when they play
at home.
So this team really does need to get
back to Globe Life, get some home cooking.
Hopefully they will win some games.
You got the athletics coming to town Monday.
Hopefully that will help, but I feel like
the Rangers are going to have to take
their butt kicking and then get on that
flight and hope to really come on strong
when they get back to Arlington.
I think that is the game plan.
If they can steal a win tomorrow, I
think you got to feel really good going
into the home stand.
I'm not counting on it.
I'm not holding my breath for it, but
I sure would love to see Texas find
a way to get a dub tomorrow.
Then you go down back home and hopefully
you can go on somewhat of a run,
at least win a couple of series.
That would be phenomenal.

If rocker can give you like a gem
tomorrow and then you somehow find a way
to get the bats go bats go in
and get on a flight to Arlington with
a win under your belt, that'd be huge.

Why in the world does he play in
the outfield with arm issues?
Either it should be put on the IL
or DHA.

You know, Langford has had an up and
down year, both at the plate in terms
of production, but also in terms of his
health.

I think that I feel very, very similarly
to this take Caden.
Appreciate the comment.
I just feel this is going to be
used as an excuse in the off season
for the Rangers to not do a whole
lot.
I mean, we, we just never had everybody
fully healthy.
I can, I can hear the CY interview
now and I'm looking forward to this upcoming
season.
You know, we just were never at a
hundred percent in 2026.
And now that everybody's healthy, I'm looking forward
to seeing what the guys in the clubhouse
can do.
And, you know, I think we're, we're looking
forward to competing for another world series championship.
And again, maybe that'll come after very limited
to potentially no major moves.
I would not be shocked in the slightest
to hear that interview from CY or any
of the front office guys.
I think they will absolutely be thinking about
that and it's delusional.
Langford just playing, continuing to play.
Hopefully you're not messing anything else up long
-term.
Surely it's kind of a pain tolerance thing
at this point.
That's what I got to think.
It's, it's gotta be pain tolerance.
Otherwise, if there was any risk, I'm not
sure why you would be keeping them in
there.
Texas, they definitely need a bat like Wyatt
Langford's, but if the bat's not working, the
bat's not working and you're playing hurt, not
a great recipe, just not a great recipe.
Langford, by the way, I mean, he has
looked very interesting out there in the field.
He's had some nice plays despite being hurt,
but he has had some interesting throws.
I'm trying to be nice.
He has not looked himself really rolling around
out there.
I would love to see Wyatt Langford at
100% health.
Not sure we're going to get it in
2026, but I think Wyatt at this point
is an injury prone player.
I don't think there's any way around it.
I know some people get really sensitive when
I, when I make conclusions like that, I
just try and let the numbers speak for
themselves.
I mean, this is a guy that every
year misses, has missed at least 30 games.
He's missed over a hundred games, uh, in
three seasons and a hundred games.
You've missed a hundred plus games in three
seasons of play, not even three full seasons.
I mean, I don't even know if Wyatt
Langford injury prone is debatable at this point.
He's an injury prone player.
We have a lot of Josh Young, I
would say is teetering.
I know some people have already declared him
that I think he's teetering on the injury
prone.
Wyatt's quote, by the way, I mean, I'm
not hurt, but I am playing through something.
I mean, I guess I know when, when
I coach middle school football, one of the
coaches that I coached with, uh, always talked
about the difference between being hurt and being
injured.
So I think I understand what Wyatt is
saying here.
I mean, he's, he's not injured to the
point where he can't play, but I mean,
nevertheless, uh, he's playing through something.
It all started with the strain and it's
still kind of lingering a little bit.
I'm not in pain.
I'm not hurting.
I try to get to them as quick
as I can and get them in as
quick as I can.
Okay.
So kind of a confusing quote there from
Wyatt.
I mean, look, I know not all these
guys are, you know, media savants, but kind
of a, a confusing quote from Wyatt.
Uh, I, I felt confuzzled just reading that,
but, uh, look, I think it's fair to
say he's got some issues going on.
Uh, and if he didn't, this article wouldn't
have been written.
He missed time by the way, with a
forearm strain and a hamstring strain.
If you were not totally up to date
hamstring and forearm strain, I'm assuming he's referring
to the forearm strain.
The forearm strain was what kept him out
most recently, right?
All right.
There's the Wyatt Langford update for you.
I just don't like, you know, in the
lowest part of the season, the lowest part
of the season, I just, I don't like
these excuses coming out.
I don't know about you guys.
I'm just not a fan of, Hey, we're,
we're hitting a rock bottom.
Let's bring up excuses for why it's just
not my favorite.
It's not my favorite at all.
I would love if Texas could just like
NHL, like hockey, just keep it on the
shelf until the off season, man.
I mean, look, I think hockey does that
better than, than almost any sport.
I love how in hockey you, you really
don't hear about injuries until after the season's
over.
Right.
Like, I love it like the, like the,
you know, Dallas stars.
I mean, out here, obviously I get a
lot of golden Knights coverage living out in
Vegas.
I love how it's like, you know, he,
he broke his leg three weeks ago in
the opening round against Colorado.
And you know, it's, it's been an issue,
but you know, he, he managed to still,
you know, have a great postseason, even with
a broken leg for three weeks.
I love the NHL for that.
Those guys are just tough as nails.
I have a ton of respect for hockey
players, ton of respect.
I just 100% wish that they would
leave this stuff on the shelf till the
postseason or till, till after the season, I
guess, to clarify Natalie, thanks for the correction.
If that's the case, thank you for the
correction there either way.
It's not essential to the point.
The point is he's dealing with injuries that
have still been lingering from earlier in the
year.
I do feel like Wyatt is an injury
prone player that needs to figure out a
way to stay on the field.
It's, it's a part of everything that you
have to consider when you think about players
and they've got to be on the field
for you, man, especially a guy like Wyatt
Langford.
Like if you're going to tout Wyatt Langford
as one of your big offensive weapons is
one of your big offensive players.
You can't keep doing that.
If he's going to do this every single
year, you have to stop treating him like
he's actually a reliable offensive place for production.
He's not, he hasn't been, he has talent.
He has a lot of talent, but the
injuries and then the consequences of the injuries
have just been brutal for him this year.
Brutal.
Ethan, you can lay that draft lottery on

If you want my guy, we'll, we'll check

I will always say until the Rangers are
fully eliminated, we don't get too excited about
that kind of stuff, but why not, man?

guy that the Rangers traded for, you know,

I think a lot of us though, and
it's kind of just the state of the
team right now, isn't it?
You didn't necessarily feel like that Nimmo charge
was going to turn into anything significant.
I just think it's indicative and it's a
direct result of how this team has played
through the first 136 games of the year
here.
I don't really judge the offense any differently,
whether the home run happened or not.
I just don't think the offense did enough
tonight.
You really had all of your offense coming
off of big swings.
Look, the brewers hit some homers tonight too,
man.
They, they don't hit a lot of homers.
So if you ever have a night against
Milwaukee, where they're actually hitting the ball out
of the ballpark, it's usually not going to
go too well.
It's not going to go too well.
Got to give Cody Freeman a little bit
of love.
He had a home run tonight that made
it three one.
I know he runs into an out really
hard to tell on that play.
Was he getting waved home?
It made it seem on the broadcast, like
they were waving him, trying to be aggressive
there.
If they did wave him home, that is
a really bad send by Ragsdale.
I mean, you're almost betting terrain is going
to boot it.
And I'm not really sure why you'd be
betting terrain is going to boot it.
They're terrain pretty solid defensively, but look, Cody

Cal was good, man.
He was good tonight.
He, he gave up the two early homers,
but then he retired 14 straight Cal Q
continues to just exceed expectations.

quick on the trigger with Cal tonight.

No, it's still a good run.
It's a great run for Cal.
You really cannot complain with what he was
able to give you tonight.
I mean, he goes six strong innings, three
earned runs, eight strikeouts, no complaints from me
about Cal Quantrill.
He kept the game in reach against the
best team in baseball.
I don't know how anybody can criticize or
cut down Cal and what he has done
this season.
He gave the Rangers a chance to win
and they refuse to help them out.

You know, I think it's going to be
one of the big questions of the off
season.
I do think this next month is going
to matter a lot.
I don't think they're going to move on
from Wyatt Langford by any means.
So let me just cut to the chase.
Evan Carter's a little bit more interesting.
I do think it really depends on free
agency and what happens with the lockout.
You know, are the Rangers going to potentially
go out and get a little bit of
help in the offense department?
Is that offense going to be in the
form of an outfielder?
Could Evan Carter potentially be a little expendable,
maybe on the trade block?
I think that a lot is going to
depend on what he does the next month,
but I will say this, and I said
this on the show, I think last night
or the night before, you just have to
stop thinking about some of these players in
terms of potential, what they could be, especially
when they've given you like three seasons in
a row of a body of work.
Like at some point, you know, what are
we going to set as the bar or
the threshold for runway for players like Evan
Carter?
I think that is a really tough question,
but at the same time, I would probably
err on the side of if Evan Carter
does not produce at the end of this
season, if he does not catch fire even
a little bit in September, I'm not really
sure why you wouldn't potentially use him as
a trade ship to accomplish something else that
you want.
You've got some options coming up in the
minor leagues.
You have some outfielders that are on the
rise.
I'm not saying that any of them are
going to turn into an all-star level
player, but I don't see Evan Carter as
irreplaceable.
I love Evan Carter, think he's a great
dude.
I don't see him as irreplaceable on the
team.
I think he is going to have to
earn it a little bit here.
Feel the same way about a couple of
other players, like nice players having good seasons,
but I don't think that they're necessarily irreplaceable.
Like Josh Young fits in that category for
me.
Is he having a great year?
Sure.
He is having a great year at the
plate, not having a great year in the
field, not having a great year in terms
of his health, but at the plate, when
playing, yeah, absolutely.
I don't think the Rangers have a lot
of players that are irreplaceable.
And so I don't see them trading away
Langford or giving up on him.
I do think a lot of other players,
if you can find a deal, yeah, absolutely.

Langford extension is a couple of the comments

I think that many of us would have
been willing to pull the trigger on something
like that.
And I think in some ways, if you
can get it at the right price, I
think you do consider it.
But that being said, I'm not giving up
any kind of crazy dollar amount for Langford.
Now, Langford's controllable for a few more years.
I believe it's 2030.
If I'm not mistaken, I think it's 2030
that you have Langford until he and Evan
Carter on the exact same track.
I feel like, you know, if you can
get a deal made with Wyatt to cover
the next three seasons, 27, 28, and 29,
plus maybe two more years, maybe like a
little five-year contract.
I don't think you put that off the
table.
Now, like the 10-year contract, I'm not
sure if you're doing a 10-year deal
with Wyatt right now.
But like, if you want to do something
to cover the rest of his arb years,
Wyatt's going to be, I think, in arbitration
after this season.
I think he's in arb one, if I'm
not mistaken, next off season.
If you want to do a deal to
cover Wyatt's arb years, and then maybe you
sprinkle a couple more years on top, I'd
be a fan of that.
I think you have to get it at
a good price that you're comfortable with.
And Langford, probably not in the best negotiating
position right now.
If I was Wyatt's agent, I would definitely
have to see what I'm being offered in
terms of money.
But you definitely don't want to tie yourself
down too much if you're Wyatt, because if
you pop next year, that's a pretty big
loss of income if you sign some kind
of weird team-friendly deal this year.
But at the same time, if injuries and
this kind of thing is going to continually
plague him, might be nice to have a
little security for the next five years.
It's a tough one.
I mean, we've seen it work out well.
We've seen it work out poorly, a la
Joey Gallo, right?
Joey, infamously with Scott Boris, rejected a pretty
nice extension from the Rangers, and he got
traded off to New York, then LA, and
the rest is history.
I think that right now, everybody's probably going
to hold.
I don't think there's any rush to get
a deal done with what Wyatt's gone through
this year and his ups and downs as
a hitter.
We keep on going.
I do think with Wyatt, you definitely keep
him.
I don't think you try and trade him.
That would be the guy that I would
say, probably keep off limits.
I'd like to see Langford and Walcott play
together.
I think everybody else, though, on the team,
you're pretty willing to let go of.
There's not a lot of players that I
would say, nope.
Even, you know, Rocker and Leiter, I don't
think Rocker and Leiter are off limits.
I really don't.
I know that there's a lot of Rangers
fans that want to continue to preach patience
with Rocker and with Leiter.
Again, I'm not saying you trade them for
a bag of chips, but what I am
saying is, if you find the right deal,
I wouldn't be, hey, no way a deal
gets done if Jack Leiter is one of
the pieces that you need.
No way a deal gets done if Kumar
Rocker is one of the guys that you
like.
I think the only player, the only two
players that I would really be hesitant on
the 40 man to trade away, Walcott, Langford.
I think those guys are going to be
the untouchables at this point.

I would love to see in the off
season this team go much more, much harder
on the side of what Milwaukee is doing.
Don't need all the homers if we get
them great.
I just need players that can put consistent
pressure on defenses, low strikeout, high contact speed,
all those things.
Good base running.
That needs to be the priority for the
Rangers in the off season.
If they do go more of a robust
rebuild route, that's got to be priority number
one.
If you're looking at the offensive side of
it, you've got to get away from these
one-dimensional players that are either going to
be slug or nothing.
This year, the Rangers don't have a ton
of guys hitting home runs.
You've got Burger.
You've got Joc Pederson.
But then in the in-between, it can
be a little bit bare sometimes.
I'd love to swap out either one of
those guys for someone that's consistently putting the
ball in play, can hit against the lefties
or righties, doesn't need to be a platoon
option.
It definitely feels like the Rangers have way
too many just one-dimensional players.
I know I've said that before.
I'll just keep saying it, hoping that finally
somebody in the front office hears it.
You've got to stop acquiring and developing all
these players that are just very one-dimensional.
I can only DH.
I can only hit against lefties.
I only hit homers.
Otherwise, I strike out and I don't walk.
You've got to get players that can do
it all.
They can put it in play.
They can walk.
They have a high contact rate.
They can run around a little bit on
the base pass, cause some havoc.
Things to be thinking about in the off
season.
And then you think about the other side
of the game, the pitching side for the
Brewers tonight.
Drowan was never unhittable.
This was a totally different night, I felt
like, from Henderson last night.
Henderson felt pretty unhittable and Henderson is good.

ERA around 250 in 2026.
Texas got six hits off Drowan.
I think, did they get a walk as
well?
They got a walk as well.
You had traffic.
Every inning, basically, you had an opportunity.
Maybe not perfectly in scoring position, but you
had an opportunity.
And they just continued to not convert chances
on the base pass into runs.
Offense, I don't feel like was necessarily overwhelmed

I didn't feel like the offense was totally
overwhelmed tonight, but I mean, it's just the
story of the season.
You get opportunities and then at the end
of the day, you just don't end up
converting them.

Houston losing tonight is a blessing, but it's
also frustrating because you had an opportunity to
get back into it and you just couldn't
make it happen.

I think that the Rangers have really done
this way too consistently this year.
They see a team ahead of them lose
and then you come out and you have

get anything going and you're not able to

I'm going to preview it here really shortly.
I don't feel great about it y'all,

explain why.
I already talked about it a little bit,
but we'll circle back to that.
I think best case scenario is the Mets
beat the Astros.
And, you know, even though you get swept,
Astros lose two out of three.
So you don't lose that much ground.
That would probably be best case scenario here.
But tomorrow, Rocker versus May and Rocker against
the Brewers does not have any numbers against
any of them, but I made the point
earlier and I'll make it again.
This is a bit of a nightmare matchup
for Rocker, in my opinion.
You've got a Brewers team that walks a
lot.
One of the best walk rates, if not,
I think it might be the best walk
rate in baseball.
We know Rocker can struggle with control at
times.
Rocker goes deep into counts often.
This is also a Brewers team that punishes
pitches inside the strike zone.
They do a nice job flicking that ball
the other way.
It's not a great matchup for Kumar.
They also like to run a lot.
We know Kumar Rocker has had issues controlling
the running game.
It's not a great opportunity for Texas tomorrow,
in my opinion.
Now, the offense against May, we could potentially
see a little bit of a breakthrough.
May can definitely be shut down, but he's
got a 456 ERA.
He did get lit up by the Mets
a couple of starts ago.
Against May, Burger 0-2, Carter 1-2,
Duran 0-2, Diaz 0-2, Nicky Lopez
0-2, Brandon Nimmo 2-9, O'Hoppe 0

It'd be good to have Joc back in

I want to make sure I talk a
little bit about Zeke Duran.
He played center field tonight, had a great
catch, had an outfield assist.
I know he booted a ball that ended
up costing Texas there in whatever it was,
the fifth inning or the sixth inning.
Maybe it was even the seventh inning.
I don't know.
One of those three.
33% chance they're getting that one right.
I think it was the seventh when Peyton
Gray came in.
I know Zeke booted the ball there, wasn't
able to get a hold of it, but
Zeke had a great game out in center
field, didn't he?
He had a nice, strong throw.
Another thing that the broadcast booth was hating
on, pretending like Zeke made the worst throw
in the world because he slightly short-hopped
it to Corey Seager, man.
The throw is the reason why you had
a chance to get the runner out.
Zeke's speed, getting to that ball quickly and
cutting it off, and then the strong throw
is the only reason that they had a
chance, yet the broadcast was acting like it
was the most awful throw in the world.
Another thing I just didn't get, but shouldn't
be surprised from the Fox broadcast that that
made little to no sense to me.
Zeke Duran then had a great catch, running
down a ball to his right.
Did he need the dive?
I know some people were kind of going
back and forth about this.
Look, whatever.
He was flying to that baseball and made
a nice catch.
Zeke's position is going to be interesting next
year, but before I get to that, this
guy's got to be leading the Gold Glove
utility race, man.
They do give a Gold Glove to a
utility player.
It's got to be Zeke Duran.
I think he has a neutral or positive
OAA, outs above average, at every position he's
played this year.
I don't think he has a single negative
OAA at any position.
It is incredible what he has been able
to accomplish out in the field defensively for
the Rangers, and I think he's got to
be candidate number one for the utility Gold
Glove.
So, got to give him props today.
I know that at the dish, Zeke on
the day did have one hit, didn't come
through in a big moment, but you know
what?
It does so many things to impact the
game.
I think it's pretty clear he is the
Rangers' best player this year.
Probably should be the player of the year.
Probably should win a Gold Glove at the
utility spot.
Very impressed with him.
Very impressed with Zeke Duran's play.
He's got a number of different ways that
he can hurt you.
Great defense.
Great speed.
Can put a charge into a baseball here
and there.
Don't want to think about where the Rangers
would be without Zeke Duran this year.
Don't even want to think about that.
Now, let's go to the position for next
year.
I think there's a number of different directions
you could go.
I don't feel like the club really wants
to or is going to run out Josh
Young again at third base next year.
I think they should try, if they aren't
going to trade Josh, which I think is
a possibility, I think they should try and
make Josh the permanent DH next year.
You're moving on from Joc Pederson.
You're probably not married to Justin Foscue.
I think they should try and make Josh
more of a permanent DH fixture.
Maybe you let Josh play the field occasionally,
but I really don't want to see Josh
Young as everyday third baseman next year.
I don't think that's a wise move.
Walcott probably going to break camp.
I think he'll probably make the roster.
If not, right away, they'll probably call him
up within the first few weeks if they
want to do the Chris Bryant service time
thing.
I could see that happening.
I just don't think they want to trot
out JJ for 162 next year at the
hot corner.
It was not good this year.
Another year on the tires for Josh, already
dealing with some injuries here and there.
For me, I think if Walcott makes the
team, he's a prime candidate to play third
base.
If Walcott doesn't make the team, I think
Zeke should be the third baseman.
I don't think you can waste Zeke Duran's
arm at second.
I know this year they have to do
it because of how they planned.
I don't think you can continue to waste
Zeke at second base.
The arm is too good.
The dude has the best arm on the
team, I think, at this point.
I don't think it's particularly close.
I don't think you can waste Zeke Duran
at second base.
I think he's got to either be playing
third base, shortstop, or one of the outfield
positions.
We're talking about Evan Carter earlier.
Zeke doing okay out there in center field.
Evan Carter does not turn it on.
I think you could be seeing Zeke out
there in the outfield next year, especially if
Walcott comes into play and starts taking over
at one of the infield spots.
I think Zeke in the outfield could definitely
be a thing.
Again, if Walcott's not ready, I think Zeke
at third base makes a lot of sense.
Josh Young, I don't know what they're going
to do with him.
Personally, again, I'd be looking for a trade.
If it was me, he has years of
control left, but all he can really do
at this point is hit and he doesn't
have a particularly high amount of slug.
If you don't have slug and you're not
fast, that's really tough, I think.
You're not a slugger and you have not
a lot of speed out there on the
base pass.
That's tough for me.
I know Alejandro Osuna is not a speed
demon, but the dude can move around a
little bit out there.
You can't be no slug and no speed.
That, to me, is a big no-no.
I would trade Josh Young and I would
open things up for other players, but I
know there's a lot of people that don't
want to see that trade happen.
Sometimes you got to get a little uncomfortable.
We love a lot of these players, but
at the end of the day, it's a
business.
You got to do what's best for the
team.
I'll just go back to what I said
earlier.
There's not a lot of untouchables on this
team.
I think Walcott and Langford are probably about
my only two true untouchables.
Everybody else, if you can get good value
in a trade, why not?

Still unsure about the offense's ability long term,

watching as the series concludes here, I am
going to be watching closely Kumar Rocker, what
he does tomorrow against a pesky team that
I think in a lot of ways on
paper is a bad matchup for him.
If Kumar Rocker can really shine tomorrow, I
think we got to be giving him a
ton of credit and respect.
If he can give you a quality start
tomorrow against this Brewers team, I think that
is huge for him.
So that's the biggest thing I'm really looking
out for tomorrow.
Of course, I want to see the offense
get going, but if Kumar Rocker can give
you six innings, three earned runs or less against
one of the best teams in baseball, that
is a big step and not something to
be taken lightly.

Texas, after they close out tomorrow's game, we'll
head back home for a series with the
A's, where hypothetically, theoretically, they should be able
to get a few wins.
We'll knock on wood.

good hanging, talking Rangers baseball, little group therapy
session tonight, as we like to call it,
every night after a loss.
It's good to have a place to hang
out, vent it out a little bit, express
some frustrations, and try and continue to keep
the faith that this team figures out a
way.
Make a little run.
You still have everything in front of you
here with 26 games left and just a
two-game deficit.
I know it's three with the tiebreaker, but
they've got a shot.
Not giving up on them until they are
totally eliminated, and even then, we'll keep watching,
give you the outlook for the next season,
for the offseason, but we're here till the
bitter end.
