And no, Carolyn is not crying.
She just has an eyelash in her eye.
But we're going to talk about everything
that's going on this weekend next on
Sunday Night CrossFit Talk.
What is going on, everybody?
Welcome to Sunday, Sunday,
Sunday Night CrossFit Talk.
Don't forget to like and subscribe.
Hit that notifier so you're the first to
know when new stuff comes out from us.
And I think we have a pirate as
one of our co-hosts tonight.
I literally can't open my eye right now.
It's just gonna make me cry.
Oh my goodness.
Keep the mic up.
Bluff it out.
One of the toughest athletes in the
CrossFit space.
Taken out by an eyelash.
Taken out by an eyelash.
I think we're almost there.
So what Carolyn's seeing with that,
this chat came in really early this
afternoon from Victor Machado Reyes.
I don't know.
If you find something on this,
please address the last minute changes
made by LATAM masters in the programming.
WAD-Five was canceled for some age groups
a few hours prior to the start.
So I'm trying to figure out the details.
Holly,
our crack stats research and information
person,
has been working on this all weekend.
She has some details.
But it's really sketchy at this moment
what actually went on down there this
weekend.
So with that, wow.
I'm just going to take Carolyn out so
she's good.
there's a language barrier there are posts
being made in both in couple languages
she's researching it we're trying to
figure it out but it seems like at
least one event was cancelled after the
start or just prior to the start of
the event and then they were promised if
they made a certain level they would get
to do the last event that line changed
part way through the competition
There are very upset masters athletes who
paid a lot of money to travel to
South America and are now doing two less
workouts than they intended on doing.
So we're trying to figure it out.
It's bizarre to me that all of this
is happening and they still in the younger
divisions give,
get to give three tickets to the CrossFit
games.
Yeah.
Well,
I don't think it matters.
I mean,
I was worried about this one from the
get-go.
I know I've expressed my concerns to you.
I didn't think... I mean, this...
It's never even gone well for the elites
in the past.
Arguably, that and Asia,
we've talked about it.
I appreciate that they opened it up
geographically because in the past,
there's athletes that are irrelevant at
the Games.
So,
To give these locations, these spots,
is not a great idea.
And I don't think they've had, I mean,
this goes back to the Seth spin
conversation with who should be running
comps.
I mean, is there any vetting process?
Because, like, this isn't going well.
And if Boz is there, how, like,
what is happening?
Like, how was this stuff not known?
How do you have seven events on schedule,
get down to six,
and then maybe not even do five?
I mean, we've seen it happen.
We had it happen at Legends.
There was supposed to be six and we
did five.
It's just not good.
And it becomes a pay-to-play type
situation,
which I don't think is the way to
proceed with Masters.
That's just like who was willing to fly
to Latin America to earn a spot at
this point.
Yeah, I mean,
I looked at the leaderboard and
I actually,
I thought there were a lot of bigger
names from the master space, not,
not throughout the leaderboards,
but there were some pretty big names who
were in a qualifying spot.
Last I looked, I saw Ryan rec.
He made it.
He might be the only one that I
like.
Okay.
Okay.
Um,
there were a couple more like peppered in
there throughout some of the divisions.
Um,
that I thought were legit athletes that
should have a ticket to the,
the games that makes sense.
Let's just say that.
Okay.
Should is probably the wrong word to use,
but are,
have been there in the past and it
makes sense.
Okay.
Uh, Shannon brings up Arthur Wolf.
Yeah.
I mean, there's, again,
they were sprinkled throughout,
but there was a lot of names I'd
never even heard of.
Right.
So there's going to be several people
there that you're just like, I mean,
I don't know.
Will they come in and not be last?
Very possibly.
But I just I just don't this this
for for Masters qualifying.
think the whole semi-final thing needs to
be looked at in all divisions not just
masters but elite and everything and we've
talked about that a few times but and
we'll probably get into it a little bit
if Carolyn can see at some point during
the show just I don't know what it
is it's like it feels like my eye
is getting scratched every time I blink so
like I can't find the eyelash in there
and I don't know if it like a
nail went in there
I don't know.
I can't see anything.
You got rope fibers?
It's scratching me every blink.
Still, so I'm just trying to.
Well, speaking of the weekend,
it was a wild weekend of sports.
If you watch,
if you're a sports head like me,
I don't even watch the NBA generally.
I watched the entire NBA finals this year.
Really?
I did.
Wow.
Yeah, it's a weird thing for me.
Jalen Brunson, Mikael Bridges,
and Josh Hart were all Villanova players.
I rooted for them when they won the
national championship at Villanova.
And I picked them to win in my
March Madness poll at work,
and I won eight hundred dollars because of
them.
So because of that,
I was rooting for them in the NBA
finals.
I know it's a weird thing.
six degrees of kevin bacon but and jalen
brunson's so easy to root for compared to
some of the other stuff that goes on
in the nba so i was really pumped
and the knicks won for the first time
in like fifty years so that was a
it was a fun watch every game came
down to the last second
Shanna,
irrigate the eye with saline if you can,
clean water if you have it,
or any non-medicated eye drop.
I'm calling you out on that win.
That was years ago.
It's the statute of limitations.
It's expired.
I'll be right back.
Okay.
um so there you go ken but anyway
i watched that whole thing this weekend
and i've never sat down i probably have
since the mid-eighties i've not sat down
and watched the nba that much yeah i'm
just not really a fan of the nba
i like college basketball but and then um
my mom came in so we uh
We did a lot of stuff with her.
And then I tried to compress.
Just because.
Just because.
I mean,
my nephew lives here too with a brand
new daughter.
Nine months old.
She wanted to see her great grandbaby.
And so she came in for that probably
first and foremost.
But she gets to see Julie and I
as well.
But Julie and I are working on all
these home projects.
And then we tried to compress everything
into a much smaller window.
And I'm whooped.
I'm so ready for bed tonight.
You still got to get that sign hung.
I know that was one of the things
I had on my list for the weekend.
And, um, and I, it just didn't happen.
It got,
it was so off to do it sometime
this week, but Julie may actually,
she's actually pondering going to
Pennsylvania tomorrow.
Cause her,
her mom fell and she just went through
radiation for.
a tumor and all that stuff.
And so she just,
I think wants to be back and help
take care of her at least for a
week.
And her office will let her work from
Pennsylvania for a week.
So we've got a lot going on,
but cause that sign is a two person
job, just so you know.
It's a large sign.
We have shirts with the new logo we
can wear to the games.
I'm working on something, Ken.
I should know more in the next couple
days.
Shanna, whoop to hot, hot,
hot here and getting ready for session
two.
Yeah, it's been hot here for a week.
Today, we got torrential downpour.
Yeah, we got rain on, too,
and it dropped quite a bit.
I mean, twenty degrees or so.
It's not going to be very warm this
week.
Seventy, maybe.
Sixty-five.
Yeah,
so I should be able to get a
lot of dirt move this weekend,
or this week, in those lower temperatures.
Yeah.
So, looking forward to that.
You do anything fun this weekend?
Uh, no.
I went to Portland,
which is not very far away, thirty,
forty minutes away,
and watched my nephew play baseball.
They lost.
I just went to the gym,
caught up on some stuff, caught up on,
watched all of eighteen eighty three.
I've not.
That's one Taylor shared and I haven't
watched.
Did you watch Nineteen Twenty-Three?
Nope.
Oh, okay.
We're starting that.
We finished Eighteen Eighty-Three,
starting Nineteen Twenty-Three.
And I haven't watched Episode Six of Gun
Ranch, so.
I have.
I've watched that.
But Five was excellent.
Yeah.
This one wasn't very action-packed.
Okay.
But it's one of those, like,
has to happen to shift the tide.
Yep.
Yeah, eighty three was good.
So I started it twice.
OK.
And I don't know what keeps interrupting
us,
but we just never we never get into
it.
So Kipping is asking, how did Carolyn do?
I don't even know if she did it.
I think she did.
She she was she had the post with
her doing the jump rope and the wobble
one.
I think she did them.
I did them.
Yeah.
Okay.
She took the time to find judges.
So she did them.
Yeah.
I got someone,
we had a few people from last year
that still had their certification.
And then I got one more person to
do it just because people were busy this
weekend.
Yeah.
I did them.
Not because I think I'll qualify.
Just throw,
got to throw a wrench in that leaderboard.
I got to mess up some stuff.
At least in one workout.
Yeah.
That deadlift one should be good for you.
Yeah, that one's good.
That's about it.
I just...
So I guess we'll dive into that.
That one's very good.
The double under is very, very bad.
See, I like that one.
It was very bad.
Yeah, I like the wall ball one.
So I think when you're looking at the
workouts that came out and you're thinking
of the people in your head who could
do them,
a lot of that's for a lot of
people there's a lot of oh they'll be
really good at that but not so good
at this absolutely so in that rep in
that because i'm not into like the
programming details that you two are but
for me when i'm thinking that way that
means it's got to be a pretty decent
test if you everybody you can think of
has some good and some bad
But that's just my layman's look at it.
Yeah.
No,
that's a good way to look at it.
So I still hate the fact that the
most dramatic weekend in CrossFit is
unseen.
Yeah.
The only thing we get to see is
Jacob Marlowe or Hiller's kind of post-
talks with people who were doing it but
you're still not really even seeing but it
gave me this idea why couldn't you either
a have everybody do it and have that
the top people in the sport have a
film it they have to film it anyway
right yep and then put it together like
rogue had the screen with ten people on
the screen and you see it after the
fact and you don't release the leaderboard
until each competition is done or b how
you have to do workouts one and two
on friday
You post-produce that.
I love it.
That part of the leaderboard's off.
Yep.
Three and four.
Post-produce that.
That part of the leaderboard's out.
And then five.
I love it.
That eliminates most of the redos,
and it forces an order, pretty much.
And I think that's the proper way to
test.
There's too much gaming of these online
things that, yeah, I would prefer...
like a twenty four hour window, submit,
throw those out.
Yep.
Keep doing that.
And because if you do it in person,
you don't get to pick the order.
Exactly.
Right.
And then at least it's and use the
videos that are being submitted and just
put them in ten boxes.
Yep.
Let them go.
You know,
the top ten times because they did it
during the online semis of twenty twenty
one and
Um,
cause I remember watching some of the top
scores.
I don't know if it was ten was
like five or six of them within like
the worldwide that they would show like
for each workout.
And I thought that was cool.
I would even take top four, six,
something that is even for the thing,
right?
Yeah.
Because you know the top times.
And then they can have the scores.
They did it like you could see how
many ahead each person was.
They did it before.
And it was basically the same system that
Rogue had done the year prior in twenty
twenty.
And that would be cool.
Because you control the leaderboard.
You don't release it till you release the
videos.
Then when the videos are out,
then you release the leaderboard if you
want to see everything down below that.
And it's a spectacle then.
Everybody tunes in to see the top six.
And then immediately after,
they're going to your website to see the
leaderboard.
Yep.
instead of just blind all weekend long and
hope people are doing well.
And Ooh,
I got an Instagram clip here and Jacob
Marley, Jacob Marley,
Jacob Marlo is willing to do it live
for everybody.
So you get to see that.
It's just a mess.
Cause she's not doing it for anything but
money.
Or Ben Smith,
just because he's old and he wants to
show he still got it.
Or you get a random James Sprague post,
one of them,
to show what he can do on it.
Yeah, I mean,
you know you knock one out of the
park and you haven't.
Twelve-thirty, wow.
Is that the double underhand sandwalk wall
ball one?
Yeah.
Okay.
That's crazy, though.
That's crazy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So now that we've solved the semifinal
online.
Figured it out.
Take notes.
So, Carolyn, you've done the workouts.
I know you're not going to reveal how
it went,
but like the workouts as a whole,
how do you think that the test was?
I think the test was fine.
I think it was a fair test.
About what I expected.
I thought that we'd see some sort of
GHD or Tostobar in there,
like some sort of core movement that was
more involved.
A lot of short workouts, I guess.
Like if you look at the time of...
What's that?
I said no Tostobar at all.
What'd you say?
Carolyn's breaking up.
I can't hear what you're saying.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Your internet's breaking up a little bit.
Yeah, I mean, you have... I'm breaking up?
Okay, sorry.
Yeah, I think it was fine.
Like, there's a lot of rope climbs, like,
twenty-one.
It's the same snatch weight that we did
last year.
I was expecting a clean and jerk this
year.
versus like the same type of athletes that
are going to do well from the Isabel
from last year.
Um,
burpee one was like probably the more like
high heart rate one still had a moderate
heavy deadlift for some people.
Um, that was okay.
Um,
I still like a test that still has
something that's light and go.
Not everything needs to be moderate,
heavy, or high skill.
Because then we're just putting all the
emphasis on this at this stage.
Yeah,
we've done all the other stuff earlier,
but we still started at zero.
So now the only emphasis is on these
five tests.
Which are very
yeah like you have a heavy wall ball
to a high target for the females a
moderate heavy-ish barbell and two
workouts a lot of rope yeah i don't
know i think it's okay though so as
expected like they always you get to
semifinals and this is what they do all
the time for the most part so
just a side note and just because it
i want to show you how much you
guys have affected my thought process so
i'm watching hiller's video today about
twenty-year-old dallin could beat twenty
fourteen rich
And the example he used was that Matt
Torres was watching Rich do GHD sit-ups
and said, too slow, too slow, too slow.
And I'm thinking, well,
that's because Rich actually extended his
hips all the way down and touched where
all the athletes today do that short frog
GHD.
Mm-hmm.
And so I just wanted to show you
what effect you have had on me now.
I had the exact same thought when they
showed the GHG.
I'm like, oh, look,
his butt is actually pretty far down on
the GHG.
Yeah.
Fergie has question of the week for Caro.
What feels better,
going wire to wire winning the Masters
games or beating Tia Toomey in an event
at the games?
Wire to wire.
Wow.
I thought that would be tougher than that
quick answer.
I think winning the Masters games is a
tough thing to do.
And it's like the early divisions.
I think in all my career at the
games,
I think I only beat Tia maybe once
on a sprint event.
I'm trying to think of other times.
I think that's about it.
She has me in everything else.
So there's a debate in the chat right
now about Alex Kazan doing it for the
money.
And should she be allowed to do it
just for the money,
even though she's already qualified?
I will say,
I get Tessa's point a little bit.
I think the way she's doing it,
I can respect.
She's doing it,
putting her time out there.
It's giving people a score to chase,
which...
Changes things for sure.
So if you're going to do it,
I'd say this is the way to do
it.
Do them.
Put your video out there.
Let people see the time to beat.
They know it's possible.
And if they can't beat you,
they can't beat you.
And then I guess she deserves it.
I can't stand it.
I mean, we talked about it before,
like athletes that are entering semifinals
that are ineligible for...
Unless she gets first overall on every
single event,
her scores will affect the leaderboard to
some extent of people's qualifying spots.
She could push someone back one point but
not affecting someone.
She can middle the right people.
But, I mean, within the rules,
it's within the rules.
And she has a great shot of winning...
you know, a decent amount of money.
So like, I don't falter for it.
Like I,
I feel like I'd be doing the same
thing.
Like if the masters online semifinals had
money for like placings,
I would have probably done it.
Even though I had already gotten my spot,
like you can't falter.
Yeah.
The rules change though.
Like syndicate,
you weren't allowed this year to go if
you had already qualified.
Cause they didn't want to deal with that
and mess that up here.
Like it,
it is a little frustrating and confusing
for people.
Which one can I do?
I hate it.
It is so counter to everything else
athletic or every other sport.
You have your path to the championship.
You don't get to bounce around and do
multiple paths depending on what you want.
But it's just like everything else we've
said this year.
I can't fault the athlete for taking
advantage of the rules that are there.
And she asked.
No, I don't have it.
I'm not blaming Alex for it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
No, not at all.
I just hate it that it's available.
I just don't like that it's going to
affect,
because it's going to be tight at the
top.
Okay,
so if she wins and they pay her
and then they pull her off the
leaderboard, would that work for you?
But that's not going to happen either.
Unfortunately.
We've been bitching about that for five
years.
She's going to middle someone in effect in
multiple workouts.
Unless she gets first, of course,
which she could.
I don't know how many of them,
but I don't see her winning all five
of them.
She is going to affect, to some extent,
some people's scores.
I don't love it,
but I also get it.
I fully get it.
These are great workouts for her,
so why not?
Yeah.
She can win money, like do it.
Again, I do not fault Alex at all.
It's in the rules.
She can do it.
Just like we've said with other things
this season,
I don't fault the athlete for doing six
semifinals because it's in the rules,
but I hate it.
I think it's dumb and it shouldn't be
in the rules.
Right.
But I think it'll make CrossFit think
about the rules,
hopefully to adjust because they probably
didn't even think that someone would do
that.
Oh, I don't know about that, man.
This stuff has been,
we've talked about this year after year.
Well, how has, did anyone do that?
I guess last year was in the middle
and people hadn't qualified yet, but,
or at the beginning.
Yeah, I guess we haven't,
they haven't had the,
this is the first year of this,
where this is at the end.
They didn't, but we, we did talk about.
letting people go to semis.
And,
and a lot of people complained about that.
And only syndicate is the only one that,
and they took it upon themselves.
Like the fact that CrossFit didn't say
step in and say, Hey,
once you've qualified your path stops,
like stop messing things up.
They saw it last year.
So they could have stepped in and
corrected it this year.
It just, it makes no sense to me,
but okay.
Um,
I'm sick of complaining about issues and
trying to be less whiny,
but I feel like there are a lot
of issues.
I have that same issue.
I have that same feeling.
I don't want to bitch anymore.
Same.
I'd rather come in here and be happy
for athletes and show the great feats that
are being done.
But one, we can't see them this weekend,
so we don't know what they are.
And two, there are a lot of issues.
I totally disagree, Max.
We don't need more data points on this.
And if she middles someone,
she is really just highlighting the
difference between those two people's
scores.
But she's affecting the scores differently
depending on the event.
Of the five events,
she is affecting the leaderboard
differently in each event,
depending on that athlete's strengths or
weaknesses.
So it's then making a bias
to one or the other.
So, there's that.
I wanted to go a little bit into
Hiller's video.
Did you guys watch those this weekend?
I was waiting for one today.
Was there one today?
Did I just miss it?
Just the Dallin one.
Yeah,
I almost saw the day one and day
two.
Yeah, I was hoping he'd have one today.
i won one first of all really great
job and apparently if you get shocked by
a dog collar you can get them to
say anything that and be open and honest
about everything including poop pee and
everything else right but oh my gosh like
i just want alexis raptus to be healthy
I wanted that whole six or the whole
ice pack thing after.
Oh man, I want that treatment.
Cause like I finished workouts and I was
done like overheated and all.
And I feel like, you know,
just all over and I'm like, damn,
I need this,
this crew to come and just put a
bunch of ice packs on me.
But there was a lot of, uh, TMI.
She doesn't have quite the pit crew.
Well, and then their pit crew is busy.
When I looked at it and I looked
at their pit crew and everything that's
involved in the background of like every
workout, like finishing a workout,
having all these people that like
massaging you after like a snatch work.
I'm like, I don't have anything here.
I have two people in the whole gym,
which are both of my judges and I'm
alone.
And I'm just doing it by myself.
Like no pit crew, no,
no food that's like given to me after
like, there's just, it just,
you just realize how different your
environment is and competitive season than
other people's.
It's crazy.
I, um,
and I've been to Jamie's gym during those
sessions and,
jamie may have the pit crew but she
doesn't she's such a control freak that
she doesn't let anybody help her with this
stuff i let aaron nobody else reads i
do aaron's my guy aaron and i get
fought with on every item every topic
every subject during those things
Yeah, I'm learning that I need to just,
like, if he is available,
just let him do his whole thing.
It's hard.
Sometimes I'm like,
you're taking too long.
But I should just, like,
not stress about it and try to, like,
relax and let him handle it.
is hard i am very carolyn it is
such an issue like she has the clock
on her app and she has the clock
in the gym and they're off by five
seconds and jamie is so worried that it's
going to be off she hits the clicker
herself so i've in the last like
But you were that way.
Oh yeah.
I was really bad about that,
but it's gotten so bad that like I've
stopped.
So I won't even run the gym clock
or I'll run it.
It'll be running.
It'll be like on a thirty minute clock
and I'll just try to and I'll just
try to start if if I care to
see a clock,
like I'll try to start at minute five
or something.
Yeah.
so that I can kind of have an
idea of pacing.
But like,
I've stopped doing that because what has
continuously happened when we try to do
that is I'm off and then I go
rewatch my video and I started either a
minute,
either a second early or a second late
or two seconds late.
And I'm like, well,
that's just wasted time.
Because you can't tell,
you can't tell the clock,
the people watching the video after, hey,
I started two seconds late because I was
using this clock over here that isn't in
my video.
So my time was really nineteen thirty
seven.
But I know it says nineteen thirty nine
on my clock.
But if you look at the beginning,
I didn't start till second two.
Like you can't make those explanations and
in can't post produce.
You can't be like, here, look.
So I've I've kind of stopped syncing the
clocks and I just you I like make
someone stand at the clock.
behind the camera and count it down and
yell at me or it like,
if I don't have a running clock,
they just have to stand there and watch
the phone phone and tell,
and that way someone's watching and make
sure the camera is running the whole time.
Yeah.
It's, it's so funny.
Cause when I came up and did the
documentary with you,
I was doing the documentary with Rudy here
and Rudy has a full pit crew.
That man doesn't touch a thing.
when he's working out.
Like it is, he has three camera people,
two judges.
I'd be curious how other people do the
clock thing though, because I know,
I know that that like you,
that especially if you're running two
phones, you can't do that.
Like we've tried that in the past.
We've tried to sync the two phones.
So they don't use the app.
See, that's the issue.
Like I try to keep everything in there
and yeah,
I think it's caused problems in the past.
I just like do everything myself.
Like I'm grabbing the camera.
I'm filming all the weights, everything.
Like I don't have five people filming
everything while I'm continuing my warmup.
So yeah,
I would watch Rudy's crew do that.
Like I just look and I'm like, damn,
like a lot of high maintenance, I guess,
like athletes in the space I find.
I would watch Rudy's crew do all that
and then go up,
visit Jamie and see Jamie do everything
herself.
It was such a stark difference between the
two.
It was amazing.
It was fun.
But yeah, I thought the video was great.
Hiller did a great job.
They were great.
I know how hard it is to edit
and get those out the same overnight.
I did that for one of Jamie's
documentaries and I was like up until
three in the morning in the hotel editing.
It is crazy.
The fact that he does that and gets
those out so quick.
One,
they're more relevant and it's a better
content because of it.
And two,
he's busting his ass and should be given
credit for it.
Yeah, they're great behind the scenes.
Just gives you a different visual of like
how different every athlete is in the way
that they like certain stuff,
which I'm sure like other athletes can
relate.
take little bits and pieces of,
of things there,
or you get to see some of their
movements were, you know,
beginning of wads.
And then you're like, okay,
this is the pace.
Um, but yeah, no,
Hiller's done some really good stuff in
the last, I mean, really for a while,
but these last months with the syndicate
really good.
I like grants, um, keeping it real.
I don't know on which account he did
it.
The, the one of the girls,
like with all the things that they talked
about it in the video was hilarious.
I didn't miss that.
I missed that one.
Just like poking fun at like some of
the things that they were saying, uh,
inhalers video from the weekend.
Okay.
Yeah.
No, it was good.
Um,
someone historic fitness i don't know if
those girls are good enough to have that
kind of pit crew they have it so
yeah i mean clearly they are they
apparently they're nice enough people that
people want to help them yeah um and
to me that's that's what it's all about
multiple year games athlete like i think
that's when alexis is what couple time top
ten yeah for sure
so yeah at least two i think i
didn't uh i didn't get the sense that
janie had quite the same she wasn't on
camera as much and maybe she just wasn't
ret like she's still pretty young and new
to the sport um she's with brute right
yeah i think she is with brute
Cause I didn't,
I don't feel like I even thought like
you saw her dad talk occasionally.
So obviously she had her dad there,
but I didn't see a whole lot of,
I mean,
Kyle talked and Matt's there talking.
And I think I was even in there,
right.
Talking like I didn't see L L not
in there in that.
No.
Cause, cause fee and matter are together.
Right.
Kyle and Alexis.
And then,
Genie, and I don't know who,
Genie's is not L or Matt, right?
Yeah, but who is Josh's coach?
He's not one of the two either.
I don't think.
Maybe.
I kind of thought he had L.
He had L for sure, and I think,
yeah, he did have L.
Raph, congratulations, Raph,
on your ticket to the games.
Hey, everyone,
it's an important weekend for athletes.
Can't blame them for getting a bit of
help to not deal with logistics like
getting on a ladder to measure a rope
climb.
Dude,
all I was saying is I've seen it
every way.
And if you're nice enough and there's
enough friends in your corner to do it,
they should do it.
And you trust those friends.
Um,
I think people are like misunderstanding
what I'm saying.
I don't know.
I feel like people are like ripping me,
I think in the comments,
but I'm just saying like,
not everyone has this like fit crew.
I'm not saying I wouldn't want it,
but I don't need it.
That's for sure.
Like,
I don't need like people to do everything
for me, but at the same time,
I'm not like, I'm just saying like,
it's a different reality that I live
versus what other athletes.
And like, when you see it on video,
that's what I'm looking at.
I'm not blaming the athletes for how,
like it's,
putting them in the best position to
succeed.
It's not anything like that.
I think people are being defensive in the
comments.
But I'm just saying like, yeah,
reality of how I have my setup is
just different.
Like it's not everyone is at the same
level playing field.
when we're doing these online qualifiers
is what I'm saying.
It's not taking anything away.
And it's just facts that like some people
are more high,
like more high maintenance in the way that
they need more things.
They're less like we need more things done
for them in order for them to perform
at their best.
I don't need that personally,
but it's not ripping them apart.
It's just, that's what they need.
I don't need that.
We're just at different levels.
Raph is with you.
Just jealous, Carolyn.
I wish I had that too.
Jason Burke is Janie's coach.
Okay.
Who's that?
He's with Brute.
I just.
Okay.
I wonder if he was there.
Because I feel like he didn't talk at
all.
Yeah.
Maybe she just wasn't as open with Hiller
as the others.
Maybe her demeanor is just different on a
weekend like that.
Maybe Hiller was more focused on the other
two girls.
Well, if you've ever been around Fi,
Fi is just that way a hundred percent
of the time.
It doesn't matter if it's in the middle
of a competition or whatever.
She just is open and talking all the
time.
Alexa is very much like that as well
when I've been around her.
I wonder if there's anything to any of
these workouts that like either maybe turn
Janie off or
I mean,
you could see him come out and be
like, well, shit,
that's not what I'd hoped for.
And I kind of... I mean,
I don't know enough about Janie to know
how strong her deadlift is.
Is she going to do good in that
one?
I mean,
it looked like it was tough for Fi.
Grant says we don't know there isn't a
third video.
So maybe she's going to do more in
the next one.
That's true.
If there is one.
And Carolyn, Shanna says,
I'll be your support person anytime.
I'll bring you ice and take your shoes
off.
I think we're just taking it the wrong
way.
It's all good.
I'm moving past it.
Yeah.
We weren't endorsing one way or another.
We were just saying... No,
I'm just saying, like,
it's just you look and you're laughing
because it's like it just...
We're not in the same type of environment.
Well,
I think the gym they go to is
very, very supportive of them.
when they do these workouts because i
don't they go to that gym for a
reason because that is not near alexa's
home in indiana michigan wherever she's at
now
Well,
I think you'd want to go to whatever
gym a few of the athletes can also
do the workouts together to get, you know,
one,
an atmosphere that might push you to go
a little faster,
especially if you have a person to go
against or a score to beat or,
you know.
So I think it makes the most sense
if that's the area that they can get
a couple of people to go to.
versus maybe just being on your own
because in an online semifinal where the
blind leaderboard is,
is there at a huge advantage to have,
you know,
definitely people that are games level
competitor, or at least, you know,
close to, um, to push against.
Yeah.
All right.
So let's, let's talk some games.
Um, this week, uh,
some announcements were made.
Um,
Carolyn Prevost needs an optometrist on
her crew.
Yeah,
because the only thing that takes Carolyn
out is an eyelash.
I don't even know what that was at
the beginning of the show,
but it's fine now.
As soon as I got the warm wet
cloth and tried to just pat it down
a little bit, it felt better.
They made a couple of announcements this
week about the CrossFit Games.
The first announcement that came out is
there are going to be
thoughts on twenty events it's hard to
have thoughts until we kind of see what
type of events it is it's a lot
of events that's for sure I don't hate
it I mean if at the end of
it you have to
You have to think the person that wins
has to be the most well-rounded because
I'm assuming they're going to test short,
long, middle, all of the in between.
So, you know,
you have twenty tests to prove yourself.
And if that's not enough,
then it'll never be enough.
Right.
So hoping that it's.
still pretty i mean it has to be
broad like it there's no way that he
makes twenty events and it's not and it's
so skewed to short like there's no way
um so i'm looking forward to seeing it
it's got it it's getting me excited about
the games that's for sure um
Just about like the twentieth year,
just like the hype up that he's talked
about it being like this is going to
be crazy and all that and new implements.
And I'm just looking forward to seeing,
you know,
what they come up with and how the
athletes, I guess,
adapt to it and what direction he's going
to turn for this programming.
Right.
Yeah.
I have two thoughts.
One is it's great content for us because
there's so much speculation of how do you
fit twenty events in four days, right?
What format does it have to be in
to get that many events in that short
amount of time?
The other thought I have is I just
hope that it doesn't stray from what the
CrossFit Games have been.
That we don't go to just like rapid
fire stuff because this is the twentieth
year celebration.
You should be celebrating what has
happened and what got you to this point.
And I just want it to be in
that same vein.
But there are short periods.
events that have been done in the past
that you could almost repeat to bang a
bunch of them out quickly so it can
be done it's just i i want it
to stay in the same format type and
the other thing like the games used to
go late like it was early till late
and then then in like eighteen or nineteen
they switched it to like a six pm
curfew in madison
don't know that sandbag clean went till
like eight thirty nine o'clock at night
yeah that was that one that was boss
and it went way longer than anybody
thought it was gonna go yeah but for
the most part it's been try to get
over try to get it done early yeah
and this year they're on the west coast
it could go late true so certainly for
the east coast people watching it yeah
Um, so anyway,
so I'm assuming the Wednesday is a bunch
of events Thursday off and then
Friday begins the regular in the comments
when they announced the twenty.
There was definitely some people that were
upset that they, you know,
would have arrived earlier.
But like,
do you think it's even going to be
possible for people to see any of the
events on the Wednesday?
Or do you think it's fully closed?
Because like you would think if people had
the opportunity to go see that they would
they would have released that maybe a
little bit like earlier.
I agree.
They say it's open to the public.
Some of the locations are open to the
public.
Just like the swim,
the boardwalk was open to the public if
you wanted to go out, right?
Because it sounds to me like some of
these locations are just in a park or
whatever that is not gated off.
But if they go to the ranch,
that's not going to be open to the
public.
The zoning there is so tight.
that it'll be closed off.
So I don't know.
I mean,
I think they said in the email that
some of the locations would be open to
the public and there would be no ticket.
So knowing that,
do you think that they should have
released that earlier,
that the competition would be starting on
Wednesday and certain events,
without them saying anything about
location-wise?
Just to allow people to get there earlier,
do you think that that could have been
done?
They should have said the game starts on
Tuesday,
and here's one ticket for the whole week.
That's what they should have done.
Yeah,
I don't really care that they didn't say
anything ahead of time.
There's still plenty of tickets left.
There's still people making flight
arrangements and hotel arrangements.
You can modify your stuff.
If you go to a CrossFit event,
the weekday events are very low attended
anyway.
So what impact is it truly making?
That's my thought.
Like we have way bigger fish to fry
than that.
So we know it's twenty scored events.
We know the email came out.
It's over four days.
So Carolyn, you have to be right.
So it has to be Wednesday, Friday,
Saturday, Sunday.
That's the old format.
no like like the individuals start
Wednesday the teams start Thursday but um
I think the individuals will get Thursday
off and then we'll continue Friday
Saturday Sunday so they're still getting a
four-day competition with the rest in
which we've seen that format of like a
few times we've seen a four-day Thursday
Friday Saturday Sunday and then we've seen
the big day on Wednesday rest
Like the day that they had like twenty
eighteen,
I think was like a big day on
the first day with the marathon row.
The.
Like,
I think they had a thirty ring muscle
ups, like a few things,
and then they rested.
I think the athletes will like that.
Yeah, I think so.
A bunch on Wednesday,
take a little bit of a break,
then reset Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
I think that I think that's a good
format to go.
Well,
and that Wednesday has always been like
the long swim or the marathon row or
the,
so you can beat the athlete up and
then they have a couple of days to
recover.
Yeah.
And it looks like there's going to be
a swim at least for the individuals.
I don't know if that'll go to the
masters and teams.
So, yeah.
The other thing is it did say the
Wednesday locations are,
were mentioned, there are two of them.
One of them is one of the sites
from the Twenty Twenty Games.
So in the COVID games,
you had the ranch and then you had
the one park that they went to.
That is going to be a location.
There's a thing called the Red Barn.
That's going to be a location.
And then it says other locations.
That pool one was Twenty Twenty, right?
It was.
Where's that pool at?
That I would,
I was trying to think about,
let me see if I can pull it
up quickly.
Okay.
So here is the post by CrossFit.
Uh,
where it starts the one-on-one red barn
Morgan hill outdoor complex.
Okay.
Um,
that is where they did like bike to
work.
Um, the,
it was like a snatch or snatch or
overhead squat with a handstand walks was
done at that complex as well.
I don't know if the swimming pool was
called Morgan hill or not.
I think they'll use like that similar pool
or,
or at least they're certainly not going to
the ocean,
but like some sort of swimming pool,
I think they'll do a workout.
They could redo that.
Just because like,
that was a super hard workout,
but they only got to do it with
five athletes.
So I wouldn't be surprised to see
something like that.
Come back with like a full field.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean,
do you think there's any chance he pulls
past workouts to try to... Or no way,
coming up with new and innovative things
for...
Like you think from each year pulling...
Something, yeah.
Or even ten brought up and ten new
ones or...
A ref says fairly certain that's where the
pool is.
And Historic Fitness says Morgan Hill has
an aquatic center.
Gotcha.
I just don't know that he won't want
this to, I don't know.
I don't, I, I can't think of what,
how he would do that.
Like I can see like some of the
nostalgia of pulling some events,
but also I feel like this is the
twentieth and he wants to program it all.
And he wants it like,
he wants it to be all new stuff.
There's new things that he said that we
haven't seen before.
And then the athletes haven't done.
So you can't grab any,
like all the twenty years or less and
then twist it with like.
I actually think I don't think I would
enjoy that if you literally took one event
from each year and just made it.
I don't think I would enjoy that.
I don't think he'll do that because I
think he's been sitting on some stuff for
many years and I think that.
He'll be bringing some of that out,
like I'm really excited to see
programming this year for for the
individuals i do think it's a safe bet
something is going to get pulled from the
past and maybe a couple from the past
but i don't it no way is it
straight that would be boring and i think
the more interesting bet is dave has
programmed every games but one do any
workouts get pulled from the one he didn't
program and i would say the odds are
that he would not
Just for that fact alone,
I don't think he does one from every
games.
Right.
Cause I don't think he'll put,
I think he is so bitter about what
happened in.
He would pull nothing from those games.
He's gotta admit there was some good
workouts there, but people have said,
but this was a good workout.
And he goes, I don't know.
I didn't watch it.
Right?
Like that's his answer.
Well,
then he definitely can't pull one because
if you didn't watch
I mean,
he watches the other games because he's
there watching his own events.
But, yeah, that would not work.
You got to know the history around the
event, how it played out.
I don't want to choose it.
Yeah.
I mean, he says that publicly.
And Boz is on his team.
Boz did the programming.
Right.
I don't know.
I think that's the more interesting bet
anyway.
So...
Those were the announcements of the games.
You think that changes how people train?
I hope so.
I hope it changes the way people train
to think that anything could happen again.
I think we have siloed down into this
is kind of the format the games are.
They're all indoors.
It's all you're going to get a row.
You're going to get a bike.
You're going to get
And I hope that now that because they're
going outside and James Hobart said there
is one new implement coming,
like those are things that you better
start training outside the box.
Yeah.
Like I saw Tudor Magdalene on his
Instagram doing sandbag carries with a
really heavy sandbag.
Like that's the stuff you better be doing
some odd object stuff,
figuring out some stuff.
I hope.
I hope David Reed's right.
I hope unknown and unknowable is back.
Because I do think the last couple arena
games have been very similar.
The other thing that happened this week is
the new CEO, Bruce Edwards,
spoke at the Two Brains business
conference.
He was very open and honest at a
thirty-minute Q&A with Chris Cooper,
the owner of Two Brains,
and fellow Canadian Carolyn.
He was asked very pointed questions
because Chris Cooper is de-affiliated.
And he was asked about that.
And Bruce was like, if you deaffiliated,
I understand why.
And if you're ready to come back,
we're ready to take you.
If you're wanting to wait and see what
we do, I understand that too.
I think that is a completely different
approach than things that have been said
in the past.
Like promises that can't be kept and like,
come back, we'll do this, this, this,
this.
The stuff that he was saying that were
more definitive were that they are an
education company,
that they need to have more media,
that it is going to be affiliate focused.
He loves the games,
but they need to be prioritized correctly
in the overall scheme of things.
And through that conversation said,
if you grow the affiliates and you grow
the community,
the games will grow with it.
That begs a regional type feel to truly
grow.
Again,
he didn't get into any details of the
games or the game season.
And he said that there's a lot of
people doing silly things.
at CrossFit HQ and he wants them to
be more laser focused on what's important.
And when that happens,
the silly things are going to fall away.
Okay.
And it sounded like a lot of his
stuff,
a lot of his vision and plans are
going to be implemented by this fall.
Okay.
I got a lot of questions.
Go ahead.
There's too many high-level middle manager
type people.
He didn't say anything about the structure
of HQ.
Basically, this was his analogy.
He had a friend who's an affiliate owner
who said it feels like they gave CrossFit
HQ their beer money to go on a
beer run.
CrossFit HQ went on the beer run and
never came back.
And he said he's here to bring the
beer money back.
OK.
So, again,
he didn't get into like specifics like
we're firing these people,
we're making this structure change,
we're doing this.
He just said our priorities are education,
media and affiliates.
And I think those are the right three
foundational
pieces of CrossFit that you should be
pouring a lot of your resources in.
So that's a good start.
Yeah,
they're saying and then there's doing so
we'll see.
But that's, that's,
that's really good to hear.
Um,
Yeah, I was real.
I was very, very optimistic.
It was a very,
if you have not seen it,
it's only like, twenty eight,
thirty minutes to brain business YouTube
channel.
They put the entire Q&A out.
The first five to ten minutes is like
a background of Bruce.
And then the last twenty is about the
rest of it.
And
Chris Cooper,
because he is a de-affiliated affiliate
owner, was asking, what are you bringing?
What are you adding?
And then when Bruce was done with that,
said, well, what are you taking away?
And that's what he said.
We do too many silly things.
And the focus is going to change.
And that laser focus is going to make
it so the silly things go away.
So, I mean, Chris did not pull punches.
It wasn't like an expose either.
It was kind of in the middle.
And for someone who's only been on the
job for a month,
I thought he was very open and transparent
as much as he could be about what's
going on.
And I do kind of.
Um, Avera by media,
I hope Bruce means he will have an
CrossFit after every GLP one commercial.
He talked about GLP ones too.
He said that those are people spending
thousands of dollars to try to get
themselves into a better place.
And those are the people we should be
bringing in to show them the right way
to do it.
Yeah.
And Chris Cooper told a story that he
had a woman in the gym who was
just tearing it up.
She was like the best of everything.
She was like the best customer he had.
And he wrote a post about anti-bariatric
surgery.
And she was like,
that's the only reason I'm in this gym.
And he said it like knocked him in
the face and was like,
I'm looking at this all wrong.
It's a very good, very good conversation.
Very easy to listen to.
Yeah,
I caught Matt's snippet of it when he
talked about it.
Yeah,
I watched the entire thing probably
Thursday maybe.
Okay.
I think it came out that morning,
and it's really, really good.
I wanted to bring this up to you
guys.
Because I think that we might have a
short show tonight because we don't really
know much with the weekend.
But I saw this,
and I'm going to pull it up because
I saw a couple of these on Instagram.
So this is...
a guy named Matt Kirby.
So High Rocks has banned us from sharing
content of athletes competing at High
Rocks events.
I get that Puma pays to sponsor the
event,
but wouldn't the title sponsor want
maximum eyes on the event regardless of
who is posting it?
Stopping other brands just limits exposure
for the sport and the athletes.
Personally,
I think the more content we share,
the better it is for the sport of
high rocks and the athletes competing in
it.
What do you think?
Where's the line between the title
sponsor's rights and the athlete's
exposure?
I saw another post on this from LSKD.
LSKD was forced to pull down content that
they grabbed from a High Rocks event
because of the relationship High Rocks has
with Puma.
So CrossFit had its own shoe wars at
one point in time.
The crazy thing is I read that Nike...
um reebok other big shoe companies are
signing hyrox athletes and now these hyrox
athletes are going to be finding that
they're not able to advertise for them
they they can't use any photos from a
hyrox event because of the exclusive deal
that hyrox has with puma
So an athlete, I'm sorry,
I'm trying to get this right.
An athlete who would be sponsored by
something other than Puma can't post,
can't be putting out content from the high
rocks event.
Like they couldn't have a post of them
doing their wall balls or even running.
They would only choose athletes that are
wearing Puma stuff.
Well, it's going to make no, no, no.
Well,
I would think it would affect who wants
to sponsor who,
why would you want to participate in a
high rocks in another shoe?
But you can't take a picture of yourself
running a High Rocks in a Nike and
post it on social media saying you were
at a High Rocks event.
Like on your own personal social media?
Correct.
For instance,
if Tier was a sponsor of mine and
I took a picture of me finishing with
Tier and tagged Tier or Rad or whatever.
Yeah,
these people are saying they're being
forced to pull them down.
For like a regular person doing a High
Rocks?
or just the elites i'm assuming the elites
and the sponsored athletes are who they're
going after right now i would i mean
it's i feel like it's going to affect
the sponsors like they're they're going to
know this so they're not going to sponsor
some they're not going to sponsor people
right i think it's going to hurt the
athlete correct i mean sure you'll get
training footage of them and stuff like
that but not race day footage
And if you remember, like this happened,
Reebok had the exclusive deal.
You couldn't even wear anything but Reebok
at the games for a very long time.
But there were other events.
You could go to Wadapalooza and that
restriction wasn't there.
You could go to Rogue and that restriction
isn't there.
So you had other avenues to show off
your gear.
And even the regionals weren't sponsored
by Reebok.
So you could wear your shoes at regionals.
Hyrox, there are no other,
Hyrox is one thing, one entity.
So by shutting this down,
there's no other race unless someone comes
up with a different league for them to
go show this stuff.
But the athletes aren't forced to be
wearing Puma like we were forced to wear,
like the athletes were forced to wear.
Correct.
You just can't use it to advertise for
them.
I wonder if they would ever go that
route.
Well,
they'd have to provide shoes if you're
going to do that.
Yeah, yeah.
Like provide shoes for all the elite
fifteens and... It just is really...
And this is where I'm going with it.
My head works in weird ways.
Is that...
if I'm a high rocks athlete and I
have the chance at a Nike deal and
I'm a really good athlete and now I
can't get that deal because of high rocks,
I'm looking for an alternative.
I mean, right.
No, no, no, no.
I'm looking for a different place to show
off my athleticism.
Yeah.
I'm looking at Xenon.
I'm looking at CrossFit.
I'm looking at these other things to be
able to go do that.
Both of those are too high skilled.
Yeah.
Well,
got to put in some other work than
just those ten events.
Yeah.
If you want the big money.
I agree.
It definitely impacts the athletes.
I do think they lose some...
Or you go to Spartan,
or you go to... I don't know,
maybe Spartan comes back because of this.
Or they're just another created that
splits High Rocks into different factions.
Right?
Like, I don't know.
Yeah.
But, you know,
the Golden Child right now has been High
Rocks, High Rocks, High Rocks.
Now they're starting to hit the same...
issues that that played crossfit i mean if
xenon does it right this could be huge
you got to be able to weightlift of
course of course but you can learn um
One hundred percent impacts athletes and
only benefits High Rocks strengthening
their deal with Puma.
Yeah,
but if you start losing the Elite Fifteen
because they can't get a sponsor.
Because I would wonder,
I would love to see a study.
Puma sponsors High Rocks.
How many of the individual athletes do
they sponsor?
Or do they say the overall is all
we got?
No, I think they...
sponsor quite a few of those top athletes.
They sponsor Hunter.
I'm pretty sure they sponsor Jacob Jacoby.
I thought they might sponsor
What's-Her-Face that does a little bit of
CrossFit at Lauren Weeks.
So I Can't Believe It's Not Butter lists
the people that are sponsored by Puma.
I would say those are all definite
Puma-sponsored athletes.
And I think there's a couple more.
Raf says,
I think the elites will be able to
get sponsored if they have enough of a
following,
but the up-and-comers get screwed unless
they can land a Puma deal.
And what are the followings like in High
Rocks?
I don't even know.
It's not something I've dove into.
So I don't know,
it was just I saw it pop up
and I grabbed it as something to discuss
because I,
I do think it is a disturbance in
the space.
How it's all going to play out.
I don't know.
I just find it interesting because it is
definitely a disruption at the very least.
Because you know,
everybody today is saying CrossFit is not
where it used to be because we don't
have the Reebok money.
Yup.
Right.
Well now high rocks may be having their
own problems with Puma money.
Puma must've made a sweet enough deal.
Yeah.
I don't know.
It's interesting.
Has Carolyn talked about reduce yet?
Did you redo any?
You did.
Oh, wow.
You know, I redo me.
I think there's only one year I didn't
redo.
I'm taking a half day tomorrow to redo.
Oh, my gosh.
I'm just mad at myself.
I can't double under.
It's so frustrating.
It's so frustrating.
I saw that workout come out and I
was like, cause you said last Sunday,
I know the workouts come out and they
look good for me.
I'm going to do it.
And then I saw the first thing was
three hundred double unders or whatever or
fifty to be fifty four hundred fifty
double unders.
I was like, nope,
Carolyn's not doing the workouts this
week.
No,
I wasn't going to quiet in our chat.
I wasn't going to.
And then I thought to myself.
This was my reflection was the rules
change every year.
I've qualified for semifinals.
I don't know how many more years I
can qualify for semifinals.
These are good workouts.
I mean, I qualified.
Okay, but the rules can change.
It doesn't need to be two thousand.
The next year could be just two hundred.
Like you don't know.
And I'm like,
they're not bad workouts to do in
training.
Yeah.
just do your best and then continue with
your training.
And, um,
as much as it hits my ego on
the double one, Oh,
it's just so frustrating.
It's a pair that like,
so anything that's very shoulder
intensive, whether it's handstand walk,
handstand pushups,
wall balls paired with double unders is
just a nightmare for me.
And, uh,
yeah it's uh you have good days you
have bad days and you have days where
i don't even know if i'm doing crossfit
anymore it's just so bad but it's so
funny every time i see you do a
double under workout now i'm just like i'm
counting like she's she's going on broken
she's going on broken can she do it
can she do it i went on broken
in the last fifty that's all i can
say last fifty and i was like oh
i can't do it every other round
Haley's probably happy.
She qualified at syndicate.
I didn't have to do this one.
Uh, do you,
it says double unders with a lot of
cry emojis.
It's really how I feel every single time.
Like last year at the Masters Games,
I think I took a second or a
third in the double under workout,
and I was shocked because I finished dead
last every single competition that has a
large volume of double unders.
So I made up some ground somewhere else
in that workout to help me.
But yeah, it's... Grant wants to know,
what workouts does Carolyn think she'll
have the best finish on?
If you have to ask that question, Grant,
you do not know who Carolyn is.
To be fair,
I think you'd have a decent one on
the ring muscle up just to work out.
I'm resting too much.
You know what?
The reflection I had this weekend was not
that I feel out of shape,
but I just miss training in a regular
routine.
And I feel like I've done a lot
of competitions.
I can maintain a certain amount of
fitness,
but I just don't feel like I'm in
peak shape anymore.
Yeah.
Like I've done three comps.
This is my fourth comp.
And I don't know if I'm spreading thin,
but like, I just don't have like that,
like that extra gear.
I'm just a little bit more winded.
I need to focus,
certainly need to focus these next few
weeks to prepare for the games.
And I will, because it's just like,
you're doing the workouts and you're just,
yeah,
you're just a little bit not focused.
exactly where you should be.
But yeah,
that one should have been better.
But to answer your question, Grant,
it's one thousand percent the deadlift
workout.
Not even close.
It's just that I won't row as hard
as someone else.
I can make up a lot just off
of that alone.
So that one will be by far my
best one.
And then I feel like I have one
very, very good workout,
one
trash in the way down in the trash
workout um two that are three that are
like meh that's how i feel this weekend
do i need to redo no but i
just i'm i'm of the opinion that like
if i put my name on a leaderboard
no matter where i finish i want to
leave that weekend knowing that i at least
tried my best to do whatever i could
And if that's where I land,
that's where I land.
Like it just,
it is what it is like that.
This is where I placed on those workouts.
I did what I could.
I feel like when I have regrets where
it's like, oh, I should have redone.
I could have done this.
Well, you didn't like,
that's what you got.
So at least I'm like, okay,
I could have done this and I don't
do it.
It's like, okay, I'm not,
I'm just not there where I think I
am and where is reality.
I'm not there.
So yeah, that's, that was my weekend.
Did you guys mention James versus Tudor?
I haven't seen that.
Where's that at?
We didn't, Grant.
You know why?
Like The Rock said,
it just doesn't matter about Tudor and
James because they're already qualified.
Did they do it together just for fun?
I don't know.
I'm not close to that score,
I'll tell you that.
Yeah, James' fitness is just...
He's so good.
But you know what?
Tudor's fit too, though.
Tudor's fit.
Tudor's looking good.
Yeah, he's looking good.
But if James is beating him by a
minute when Tudor's dubs are that fast...
That's insane because Tudor is arguably
faster on his hand also.
So the wall,
the wall balls slowing him down that much,
or it's just.
So it was James unbroken then on the
wall balls, everything.
Yeah.
That's insane.
A minute.
Yeah.
Tudor's handstand walk is great.
Yeah.
It's crazy.
I'll certainly look at that video when
we're off the air.
I just want to see it.
When you see a score that's so good,
it's just fascinating to see because you
know what you did and you just appreciate
that score so much more.
It's just so impressive.
Colton's fitness is just a little bit
above everyone else.
Here's what I don't like about James and
Tudor and Alex doing all this stuff.
They don't have the pressure.
They get to just let it rip.
If they go all out and the wheels
fall off, they just don't post the video.
They didn't warm up, measure everything.
That stuff takes time.
They may have not done the other four
workouts.
I think
While it's cool to say they could do
it like this,
they don't have the pressure.
They don't have the fatigue.
They're just training and they're just
doing it.
We don't know what is surrounding their
scenario.
We don't know what James Tudor,
but Alex did them all,
did the proper videos,
measurements and everything,
is doing them.
Her snatch one was crazy.
Oh, gosh.
Oh, my goodness.
She's strong.
I'm like, man, goals.
That last snatch, should it have counted?
Not even just the last one.
There was multiple that she just presses
out.
She's just so strong.
I might have went no rep on that
last one.
Why?
Because you have to clear the head.
I'm not sure it got above her head.
It did.
It did.
It was caught here.
She pressed.
She was arched back so much.
I didn't even think about that.
It's still a one motion.
I didn't stop at the shoulders.
Former judge right here.
It has to clear the head.
I would give it to her.
i like justin's response at one point i
think it was on his story or something
and it was like like they do so
much work but like it's just like you
know she goes back to her habit he's
like i swear she doesn't lift like this
on the regular but man that girl's strong
one of my best friends the first open
we ever did was the burpee to target
snatch increasing weight yep his first
one-thirty-five snatch we never snatched
in our gym we were all like newbies
look like alex's snatch that's how jim
snatches it's oh we we called it the
uh snatch and jerk yes
Yeah, it was so bad.
Doing the limbo to catch the snatch is
not ideal.
Yeah, she's good.
She said she can squat snatch or power
snatch light mid-weight.
She has no in-between.
Oh, yeah, Avera.
She was going to press it.
If I ever got into that position,
there's not even any fight in me.
It's like, you just drop it.
Right.
But the fact that like,
she can catch like this and like,
there's not even a thought that's like,
bring it down.
It's like, no, like just lift the bar.
Like, it's just crazy.
But I don't know.
Cause I feel like I'm similar to you
would fight it.
Yeah.
I, I don't, I don't snatch like that,
but I do feel like,
I think,
I think I'm similar to Alex in that
my like upper body full strength is like
probably my best thing.
So I think, I don't know,
I don't know if this is her issue,
but for me,
I know that I don't like,
like I want to be in control of
the weight the whole time.
It's why I'll never get great at Olympic
lifting, like,
and probably because my shoulders are
torn and so like I don't I don't
ever want that weightless feeling and then
catching so like I want to be in
control of it the whole time when I
watch her it reminds me of what I
want to do when I jerk when I
do anything like I what you want to
do well it's kind of what I do
like I don't really jerk like I press
it out like I will not get under
the weight I will press it out
I would like to go at the end
of the week,
but my mobility doesn't allow me to.
I will end up pressing the end of
jerks.
Who do you guys think is the strongest?
It would just hurt my shoulder to fight
for that position.
I would just drop it and reset.
That's smart.
Who do you guys think is the strongest
woman you've seen in CrossFit?
it's hard because they're strong people in
CrossFit,
but they're just not in what as like,
like, yeah,
I guess the strongest woman I've ever seen
as a team athlete.
And it is, I,
From Move Fast, Lift Heavy?
Yeah.
Yep.
I know.
Yep.
Is it Leviticus or Christine?
Christine Middleton.
Christine Middleton.
That's it.
Christine Middleton.
Is it Zol?
Did she change her last name?
She may have.
She may have in the last year or
two.
And she's not big.
No.
Like pound for pound is like pretty,
like it has to be up there in
terms of, yeah, that's the one.
she has to be up there because like
when I saw her,
cause she was at the games last year
too.
And so impressive on the clean and jerk
that she had.
She missed it behind her.
Like at like, I don't even know,
two eight years on the two sixties
something.
But I was expecting someone.
Cause I,
I don't remember competing against her
very often.
I think because she was a team athlete
and I was expecting a different body type.
And then I saw her and I'm like,
wow like she's got all that strength in
that body which is like crazy because you
just you figure she'd be more on like
the bigger end to be that strong but
very very impressive yeah she's gotta be
one of the strongest but again it depends
on the lift because i don't know in
certain lifts like who's strong like it's
yeah i think in the in the elite
division spiegel's pretty damn strong
yeah she'd be hard to go against and
and in their prime um another christine
why can't i think of her last name
yes before christine kohler brander in her
prime yeah certain yeah that's like
barnhart too though like certain like the
clean like she's
But Christine was...
In the field that we have in the
last couple years...
I don't think Gazan is one of the
strongest.
In terms of raw strength,
I'd put her up there.
In terms of technical strength,
her clean and jerk, I'm assuming,
is way up there,
but it's just her snatch at two hundred
or two or five.
Hannah Black.
Oh, would it be Hannah Black right now?
Yeah, probably Hannah Black right now,
for sure.
And she doesn't even lift anymore.
What does Hannah deadlift?
She deadlifted,
I want to say like four fifteen or
four or five at WFP,
somewhere in between those two,
maybe four or five.
I don't know,
I feel like you'd have to do a
true like power lifting total.
Dana Perron would be also probably in
terms of all power lifting and Olympic
lifting I take my answer back with Hannah
Black I'd pick Dana right I'd love to
see it I'd love to see a showdown
with the two not even close to above
like above Olivia but she's not a games
athlete but Dana in terms of like the
semi-final field
She killed that deadlift at WFP, too.
She could have gone heavier, too.
If she was in the final heat,
she would have continued.
There's no doubt in my mind.
All right.
Well, that was a fun conversation.
We have, what,
a month and a couple weeks to the
games?
It's going by way faster.
I have a couple weeks left of school,
and I'm like, oh, my God.
I get to California, and I'm like, oh,
there's just three weeks left until the
games are there.
Like I didn't, I, I,
are we like a week earlier than we
normally are?
Yeah.
Okay.
Cause I feel like I have normally a
month of time where I can be a
full-time athlete.
And now I'm like, no,
I think I only had like three weeks.
Like this is much faster than I it's,
it's coming up way too fast.
Scott,
I don't even get to do brush posts.
Yeah.
That's the Michigan one.
It's on Saturday and I need to fly
out on Sunday or whatever.
Like I, it just doesn't work.
And, and that's not smart.
I should, I should.
Yeah.
That's crazy.
I might, I'm all paid, but yeah.
Fresh Coast is a week late and the
games is a week early.
So it just falls on like the same
week.
Well, and for masters, it's a month early.
Exactly.
Right.
Yeah.
Like.
I know.
Yeah, I mean,
you were end of August last year.
Now you're before the games this year,
which is insane.
And then there's WFP qualifiers July first
to eighth as well in there.
I'm working on a WFP story too.
I'm working on a WFP story.
Cool.
Hopefully we'll have some details on that
coming up.
With that, guys, it's been fun.
We're going to have shows all week.
I only have a four-day work week this
week.
Oh, you get Juneteenth off?
Juneteenth on the Friday we have off.
So I have a long weekend.
That's going to be fun.
Yeah,
Kelsey Keough was another really strong
athlete.
I liked her post the other day.
She was like eight months pregnant.
She had a good little post there.
yeah with that guys it's been fun don't
