Full show transcript:
Sometimes TikTok is pretty amazing, and I love I love some of the videos that I see. So I was watching this couple in a tent, and they have captioned at the top, our campsites are really close. And they are in their tent, and there's a little girl outside of their tent that you can hear saying, Jake. And he says, Yes.
The guy in the tent. The girl says, I need a marshmallow. And he says, Oh yeah? And she goes, Yeah, do you think I can go get one?
And he said, Yep. I'm pretty sure it's okay. Just make sure somebody knows that you're exiting the tent. And she goes, okay. And then he leans over and tells his wife, girlfriend, whoever's in his tent with him. Explaining to us, the viewer, essentially, that she is camping with her parents. The little girl is camping with her parents that are both deaf.
Oh, no way. And she doesn't know that she is, they don't know that she is talking to her new friend Jake, who's in the other tent. In another campsite. In another campsite. But the campsites are so close that they can hear and they've been talking and they've made friends through these tents. That is so funny. Hey, uh Jay.
Can I come sit by your fire? So her parents are deaf. Are deaf. Yeah. That is interesting.
And he said, yeah, and the whole time they're trying to get to sleep, but she's like, no, I'm I'm ready to chit chat. And she, the next video I saw, she said, I got a new necklace the other day. And he was like, oh yeah.
This is all in tent. Tent to tent. Yep. Oh, geez.
It's blue. I got a blue necklace. And he's like, that's great. How old is this girl? You think? Uh, she's probably, she's gotta be like four or five. Yeah. How funny. And Jake, her new best friend is a grown man.
He's a grown man. Yeah.
Camping with his significant other. How funny. Yeah, well. It's just sweet. Hey, uh Jake. Hey, Jake, I need a marshmallow. Okay. Make sure you tell somebody you're going to get one.
Like, I'm not part of your family, but maybe let your parents know.
Maybe you gotta tell somebody. Like your parents need to be that's funny. No one.
Yeah, I mean, I prefer camping a little bit further away from people than that. Yeah. I've been at camps, like, you know, you go to scout camps or summer camps or whatever, and you're in proximity of tents. We've talked about you can hear people snoring and stuff like that. Yeah. But I don't think I've ever had tent-to-tent convo.
Really? I don't think I have it. Like if I've had if I've had like nearby tents, I'll get out of my tent and go over and talk to someone through their tent. But I've never been like, hey, can you hear me in my tent?
We used to camp. I used to camp when I was in college and our friends would go and we would rent a big you could rent gear from like Ace Hardware. And so we would rent a big tent from Ace Hardware.
Or the campus would rent stuff. Yeah, they have all the outdoors. And so we would rent a tent that would hold enough of us and we would all sleep in this big massive tent.
Right. But uh I remember it was it was always it's always hard for me to sleep while I'm camping. And I have a friend, my best friend, who is a little bit of an insomniac. So she and I would be always the last ones awake, but everybody else was sleeping. So we'd be quiet in the tent. Yeah, right. And she would go, psst.
Because you would be giggling. Yeah. Psst. And then she would say, I love you. Oh, jeez. And you'd laugh. Yes. And you'd have a good time. Yes. Memorable moment. You're Ridiculous. This show today, as a heads up, as you said, uh, goes a little bit off the rails. Yeah, it gets a little bit goofy.
I don't know. I mean, one conversation led to different things to different things. We did some internet research, which we know people love to listen to as we Google and learn things. Um, there's a lot going on today's show, but thanks for hanging out and enjoying it with us. And uh next week is kind of a big deal. Next week is next week we will hit our 500th episode.
Hey! Uh, which is really super exciting. We're getting really close. I think today's episode is going to be episode 498. Um, and so we're real close. So, like next Tuesday is our 500th episode.
Put it in the calendar. Let's do something fun.
We've got to do something big for our 500. I'll think about it. It's it's our 500th episode of the podcast. It's well over 500 shows that we've done because we didn't start the podcast until last year. But in in just over a year, we've done 500 episodes. It's pretty incredible.
Some of them are good, some of them are.
All of them are good. Some of them are better than good. Yeah, I would agree. And today's a weird one. Today, but I had fun too. You had it, I did too.
Today was a fun one. Yeah. So enjoy the show. Thanks for hanging out with us. Um next week we'll be celebrating 500 episodes. We're gonna do something. Whatever it is, we're gonna do something. Booyee. No pressure. Oh god, I'll put it in the calendar. It's on Tuesday. Tuesday is our 500th show. Okay. Okay. Big 500.
Putting it in the calendar now.
Okay, good deal. Enjoy today's show. Well, hello. It's actually Friday now.
I know. Yesterday I thought it was Friday, but now it really is. And how do you feel about that? I feel great about it.
It's the Friday uh before the Fourth of July weekend. A lot of people have today off and have already extended their weekend a little bit. And we are not those people. Are you sad about that? Yeah. Duh.
Okay. But I do have my other job off. So after this is done, bada bing, bada boom, baby. Okay. I'm home.
All right. I believe today is also the observance of the Fourth of July holiday. So whatever that means. I think that means like a lot of the offices and stuff around town are closed.
Yeah, that just gives everybody an excuse to be closed. Uh-huh. That's what that means. Again, but not us. Not us. Okay.
Just to clarify, we are here. We are in the studio. We are live today. Yes. And tomorrow is the 4th of July, and we are going to be super busy tomorrow. All day. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I know. Okay. Are you not looking forward to that?
I just I look forward to the weekend. And if the weekend's already packed, then that makes me a little sad. That's all. It'll be fine. I'll have a great time. Okay. It'll be fine.
Well, it's 4th of July weekend. So that's exciting times. And uh, and we're gonna be really excited to be out and about and see everybody tomorrow. Yeah, absolutely. That's what I'm saying.
Okay, that'll be fun. I'm excited. All right. I'm excited. The Fourth of July is great. Yeah. I'll love it.
Grab a sparkler and do a little write your name in the in the sky kind of thing. Yeah. You know? I'll love it. Yeah. Our daughter last night saying they had 36 inch sparklers. And then she was a little bit like, who needs that? And she said, I do.
Because I love sparklers. That's what she said. A three-foot sparkler. It's crazy.
I haven't been to a fireworks booth in a good handful of years, probably. I just let the neighborhood light stuff off.
I know. We took We took a walk last night. We got a great firework show. It was awesome. Yep.
Well, here we are, Friday. Uh, we'll do some good news here in a minute, and then uh we'll get things rolling.
Here we go. All right. Good morning. Here we go. Good news. It's Friday morning.
Uh, and buttons aren't working, and that's fine. But this story is from uh England. There is uh a thing called the World Cup happening. I don't know if you've heard about it.
No, I haven't. Uh and in England, soccer or football is humongous. Yeah.
Yeah. And uh there is a big boost in popularity uh for the game right now because of World Cup. Uh in almost every city, groups of weekend warriors are uh all getting together, all different skill levels, and they're playing games. And so uh there was a big need for people to be able to communicate and set up games and find other people to play and find other teams to play. Uh and last minute schedule conflicts and players dropping out was causing people to like not be able to have as much fun because they didn't have all their players and stuff. So this uh app came out called Footy Addicts.
Oh, and uh it's developed literally to help soccer enthusiasts connect with others in their neighborhood so players can find local games at the very last minute, they can step in to fill rosters, and then they can get in on the game. That's okay. Yeah, so you'd be like, I want to play, but I don't have a team
or we're a team and we don't have a goalie. That's kind of important. Oh, that's great. Yeah, so uh so people can like do pickup games and get in on the action. Uh, the ultimate goal of the platform is to build community and give people an easy way to get out of the house, get some exercise, and steer clear of loneliness, which is a growing problem, especially a young among young men. Uh, and the booming success of the app is providing an instant welcoming space where new friendships are forming in real time, chasing a ball around a pitch. It's a lot of fun, and they're doing it with new people and others to kind of create this incredibly healthy human connection. And I think that's awesome. I think that's great too. Footy Addicts is the app. And again, it's it's specifically in London where this is really uh being used, but I think that's really.
That can take hold with anything.
Oh, it absolutely could. Great concept. I know uh there's groups on on the internet for all kinds of different hobbies and things, but that's pretty special doing something very unique like that.
Find something you love, find yourself a community and have a great time. That's good news. Uh it's come to your attention and mine, but mostly mine. I've had I've known this for a while. I'm not a fan of country music. Okay.
Not even kind of there's a couple of country songs that you play here on classes. Sure. Every time they come on, I go, ugh. Okay. If I could if I could, I would change the station. Wow. But I can't. That's a bold statement. I have to sit here and listen to it.
So the the songs that are country sounding that that we do play are country crossover hits. Oh, yeah. Are they? And they are, yes. And they are massive. Like I know they are. There's there's uh a great amount of people that really like them. I know. Yeah.
I know I'm I'm the weirdo that doesn't like country music, but it is it sounds so boring. Okay. All right. And I just told you, I go, it would be so boring to sit and play the instrument for this song because it's just the same murder. and Over and over and over. Uh-huh. And here's the thing. I like a wide range of music. That's very true. If you look at my playlist, I've got a little bit of everything in there. So uh one of them
that you struggle with is the choosing Texas. That's the one that I from Ella Langley that we've struggled with the most. I don't know, a half hour ago or something. Yeah, yeah. That song is the number one song in the world.
I cannot understand why. It seems so basic. Yeah, it's humongous. I know. I guess who's not choosing Texas? What this old guy.
I know, I know. I'm telling you though. That song is the number one song in the world. I'm looking at it right now.
It's crazy to me. Because that I could have written that song. Okay.
Uh Ella Langley has uh another song called Be Her, that is the number three biggest song in the world.
Guess who's not gonna hurt it?
Be her, not be heard, be her. Uh Olivia Rodrigo's new new album has a whole bunch of songs that are in the uh in the top. And uh then Taylor Swift, I knew it, I knew you is the uh number fifth most biggest song right now in the world.
Fifth most biggest, fifth most biggest. Uh those aren't country. No, I know. I'm just telling you that there is other stuff in there, but choosing Texas, number one. Uh huge. I know, but I don't know why.
Does everybody hate music?
As in, listen, no, everybody likes this song except you. Go as well. The song came out in October. Okay. It's just become a massive song. Um, which which I think is interesting. But just to give you uh kind of a view, I'm looking at I'm trying to see my my time frame. So this week, this is in the past seven days, twenty nine million streams. Oh, guys in the last seven days.
Let me let me show you some good music. Okay. Give me a list of all those people who like that song. And then I'm gonna say, hey, have you heard of this song? This one's good. Yeah, let's listen to some this.
Yeah, that doesn't that's just this week's streaming numbers. That doesn't include all of the uh people that have heard it on the radio or anywhere else. Like that's just uh collective streaming on demand listening and programmed listening.
I had a country phase in the 90s, sure. When I was maybe like 13, 14, 15. Uh-huh. Tim McGraw was like my first compact disc that I ever got. Okay. So I was really into Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks. So 90s country. I was like, yeah. And now when I hear 90s country, I go, oh yeah, I remember this song. Clay Wild.
So you like some of that stuff.
You just but for the nostalgia of it. Okay. If I listen to it now for the first time, I'd be like, oh. Okay. All right. I just can't. I just cannot get behind it. Yeah. That's interesting to me. Yeah. Is it? Yeah. I don't know.
I I mean, everybody has musical taste and preference. So I understand that. But the number one song in the world. And you're like, every time it comes on, you go, oh boy, here we go.
I know. Every time. How long is that song? Like two and a half minutes, three minutes. Something like that. I go, okay, here's a waste of my time. Oh, come on. And we share a wall with the with the hawk, the country music channel. Sometimes I hear it. And I go, uh where did Ella Langley come from?
Like she is uh sort of popped up out of nowhere, hasn't she? What's her whole deal?
I mean, I don't know. I'm not in the country world.
Well, here's what I can tell you. She's from Hope Hole, Alabama. She is 27 years old. Okay. And she has won uh an Academy of Country Music Award for New Female Artist of the Year. She's okay. Uh so she's got that going. I wouldn't give her an award. Okay. You are really having a struggle with Ella Langley.
I just really don't like that song.
Her music blends ready. Outlaw country with modern rock and traditional storytelling.
Modern rock. No.
Yes. She's drawing comparisons to Miranda Lambert and Brantley Gilbert.
I don't know who Brantley Gilbert is. A country artist. Okay. Anyway, that's all. Okay.
Outlaw country and modern rock with storytelling and uh traditional storytelling. Isn't that nice? Do you don't like the uh traditional story of choosing Texas? No. It's a traditional tale.
I listened to it for the first time today, like the lyrics. I was like, I'm gonna pay attention to the lyrics. Maybe if I listen to the lyrics, and no, it's just about her the guy she likes dancing with another woman from Texas. And she's just lonely watching them.
Well, she's from Alabama, so when she says, like, I thought I talked him into Tennessee, well, that's not even where she's from. So who's that?
So it's even a terrible premise of a song. It's a bad story.
Is she gonna be uh on tour anywhere near us soon? You want to go to the show? No, thank you. Well, you're in luck, she's not okay.
Good I somebody else can have my ticket. Okay. If you like Ella Langley. I feel bad for you.
No, you don't. You just have a different musical taste. That's right.
And that's okay. It's amazing that we have different styles of music. Isn't it? This is something for everybody.
How you feel about polka? You like that? You like a good accordion?
I like a little weird owl. Yeah. Okay. Every now and then. All right. It's not my main choice, but I'll dabble.
And you dabble in some country every now and then too. It's okay. I do. Not by choice. I'm gonna play the song over and over and over just for you.
You know how yesterday I said I might want to farm with some farm animals.
You changed your tune real quick last night.
Yeah, we finished the season of Clarkson's Farm. Yeah. Season. You balled your eyes out.
And you were angry, and you were not having a good time watching the end of the season.
No, it got really sad really fast.
And I said, now that's farming. And you went, I don't want to farm. I don't want to farm. No, like you can't deal.
Apparently, cows can get tuberculosis. And pneumonia. And pneumonia. Yeah.
All things not good for cows.
And sometimes when a baby calf gets pneumonia. Yeah. And it doesn't get better, you have to euthanize the cow. Yeah. And that was sad for that was really sad. I don't even want to talk about it anymore.
You were very upset.
But when I was telling Beck about it, I was like, our I was telling our son about it later.
What are you doing? Waving air at your face so you don't tear up. Is that what's happening?
Uh yes. So in the show, the mom cow had a couple of baby cows, and this particular cow that had pneumonia didn't get enough colostrum. So he wasn't able to get the nutrients and immunities, yeah.
Yeah, the immunities. Thank you. That's the word I was looking for to help him fight off bacteria and infection and all of this. And so that's why he was struggling so hard with his pneumonia. I was telling Beck this. I go, That baby didn't have enough colostrum from the mom. And Beck goes, Well, they're bad moms everywhere. Wow.
It Wasn't the mom's fault. That was not the mom cow's fault.
But isn't that true? Everyone always plays a mom for everything. Well. Go ahead. No. I'm just No, you go ahead. I have nothing to say. Yeah, you better not say anything. Yeah, you better. How did how does how do cows get tuberculosis? Josh. I don't know. What are you doing? I'm doing research. I was doing research.
But I don't know. I I don't know the answer.
And is tuberculosis from cows. Can it pass to humans?
I don't know the answer to this. I really don't. Uh spreads rapidly through contact with other inflected uh like in their food and their water. Um wildlife populations, including like white-tailed deer serve as uh reservoirs occasionally reinfecting. Uh interesting.
Look at us. We're gonna learn all that we can about I don't know. First we learned about confetti, now we're learning about bovine tuberculosis.
Yeah, I don't know. Uh but I will tell you that I I'm uh I'm in Jeremy's corner when the uh live animal skin testing is the method for um trying to see if it's if it's a real thing. Um, and I don't care for that testing method. I think there's got to be another way. There's gotta be a better I think some other way has to be developed. Uh it can.
You can bovine tuberculosis can infect humans. Well, there you go. So that's no good. But that's because if you if humans humans get infected by drinking the same water raw milk, or eating unpasteurized dairy products from the infected cow.
Okay, that makes sense. Okay. Interesting, isn't it? The things you learn about a farm when you watch a TV show. I know.
I know so much about bovine tuberculosis.
Yeah, okay.
But also, I don't want to have a farm anymore because it's too sad. Right. I couldn't do it. I couldn't do it. There's a lot of animals that are you know part of that farm,
and you have to do something with them.
Well, and the he uses his animals, uh, he actually eats them and then he sends them away. And I go pets. I couldn't. I couldn't do that. And I know people go, well, you can't name them.
That's part of it. What do you think food comes from?
I get it. I totally get it. I couldn't, I couldn't do it. I couldn't watch them drive away every day. Yeah. It's too sad.
Wave your hand. Get your air moving so you don't think about it. I'm glad you got over your farm thing, though. That was that we were close to having a farm there.
We were not close to having a farm. Let's be real.
We have this beautiful field behind our our house, and it's grown tall, and there's good-looking uh, you know, farmland back there. And as you look past from the kitchen window past the garden to the field, it kind of feels like we're on a farm.
It does kind of feel like we're on a farm.
You just have to stop before you get to like the new construction and then the busyness of roads and stuff. But if you just look just a little bit, it's nice. It is nice. Yeah, you can see forever.
And I'll put on some pig noises, so it sounds like we have pigs. But I don't actually have to care for them.
Can you go? That's a good idea. I know. Bunch of pig noises. You want pigs? Was that on the list? Yeah. Oh, you want piglets. Piglets and sheep. You need to visit a farm.
Yeah, I probably need to take it.
You just need to go visit a farm. Yeah. And then you'll be like, Yeah, never mind. I am so good.
Emory has been seeing a boy. Yeah. For a couple of months now. Right. And this boy that she's been seeing also has started to play video games with our son Beck. That's right.
And Beck told us maybe like a week or two ago. She can't ever break up with him because he's become my siege partner. Right. Siege is the game that they play. That's right. And I said, well, you're gonna have to find another siege player if that happens.
Right. Well, they they being Emery and her boyfriend were out uh hanging out yesterday, and you would have thought that our son was lost because he I want to get online and play, but I can't
because my siege partner is busy out with my sister.
And let's be clear the the boyfriend relationship started before the gaming relationship. So there's priority there. Correct. Oh, it's so funny. It is so funny. It's like, but he's good and and we gotta have this many people to play. And if we don't have all that people, we pick up randoms and I don't want to play with random, so we've got to have a full team.
Okay, I don't quite understand it. So apparently they play what's called ranked.
Okay, yeah. So you there's casual gaming, right? Where you're just playing for the sake of playing. Okay. And then if you get your level up high enough, you can go into ranked matches.
Okay. Where you play against similarly ranked people and you climb in the ranking as a team and as an individual into a higher standing. And the higher you go, the more uh the harder your competition gets. But then if you're really, really good, you can get invited to tournaments, you can make money, you can like, but you've got to play ranked consistently and climb the ranks to get closer to the top to be like someone out there is the best in that game right now. They are the number one ranked player.
So the but the boyfriend and the brother. Yeah, our son.
Our son and our daughter's boyfriend,
yes, are uh playing these ranked games. Now Emory plays with them sometimes, but she's not as good as they are, correct. And so she doesn't play with them when they play ranked because she can't get into their level.
Uh not necessarily just skill, but also because her profile doesn't play as much, it's not as high ranked. And so if they drag her into a ranked game, it's gonna flag that account, and then she's gonna get banned. Wanna know how I know?
Because She was playing as well.
Because they were playing on my account and they did that, and my account got banned. So I can't play the game anymore because my account got banned when I wasn't even playing.
Oh no. Yeah, what are you gonna do? Well, I tried telling the game company that, but they went, nah, sorry, dude.
It's not the way it works. And I went, that is lame. So I don't have an account. Sorry. I think you're gonna be okay. I am okay. You have an account. And it's frustrating. I understand. And plenty of other hobbies.
I understand.
But I But I can't even pick it up to play a casual game. It's okay, Josh. Lame. You can use her account. That's what she says. And I go, no.
No, I just want my account with my stuff on it. Anyway, uh, yeah, so they are there's a bit of a competition for Yeah, she was For some attention there.
She was coming home last night. He was her boyfriend was driving her home, and Bet calls and says, Are you guys are you guys gonna be around soon? Like, are you coming home so that I can play siege with your boyfriend soon? Like what's the deal? Yeah, what's going on?
Is it my turn to hang out with him yet? What's the story?
I love it. I think it's awesome. Yeah.
Anyway, that's what's going on in our house. Yeah. You ever have anything like that? Like, were you friends with any of your siblings significant others or whatever? Like you didn't, you weren't like, oh, I I'm totally going shopping with uh Monica. I picked a name. Is that a name?
That was my sister's friend. Yeah, awesome. Okay. I'm that was I was really stretching to get a name in there.
Good job. That felt like uh an 80s big hair name. Monica. Yeah, she had some big hair.
Right. So uh you weren't ever friends with Monica. What what do you think your sister would have done if you were closer to to Monica than she was? You've been like, well, we hang out.
I know it wouldn't have happened. There's a lot of years, and and they they you were 12 and they didn't like you so much. I get it. Hey hey, hey, settle down.
They liked me just fine. Sure, sure thing.
They liked you when you weren't around bugging them. Like a 12 year old little sister when they were 17, 18. Yeah. Yeah. They were driving cars, and you're like, but hang out with me. Please.
Can I just go for a ride in your car? I promise I won't talk. See? That's what.
Yeah. So what if Monica was like, I'm taking you, I'm taking your little sister. We're gonna run to the mall. But you can't come. That wouldn't have happened. No, but what if it did? Like you your sister would have lost her mall. She would have lost her mind. Taking my sister in the mall and on me. Yeah. Yeah. She would have lost it. Yeah. Did Burley have a big mall scene in the 80s?
We did not have them all. No. Our mall consisted of a JCPennies. And then there was a music store in there for a while, but that went away. So where'd everybody hang out? I don't know, because I didn't do a lot of hanging out.
Oh, because of the not wanting to be around you. Yeah. So you don't know where the cool kids went. No. All right. Probably just the Dairy Queen. Yeah.
The Dairy Queen was probably a good hangout spot. Yeah. I wouldn't know. Oh. man. So Emery hates our 16-year-old hates when I try to be cool. Yeah. Nah, I know. But you're so cool. Which fuels the fire. Right. Because that just makes me want to do it more.
Just just the other day, we're on the show. Was it yesterday? Yeah, just a little bit. And you said that ice cream slaps. And I said, no, no, no, no, no. No, no. No. But ice cream does slap. Okay.
Stop it. And then in the same conversation, you said, YOLO, you know. Like, you only live once. YOLO. Have as much ice cream as you want. YOLO. Which is also gross. And I don't think people still say YOLO.
But I also said I have bangers, like my music. Oh, yeah. Bangers, right? Oh, sure. So I texted her because I she doesn't listen.
That's a bop. You could throw that out. She'll hate that too. You'd be like, oh, this is a bop. Just do that once when you're in the car with her. Like you're taking her to voice lessons, crank up something, be like, oh, this is a bop. And she's gonna go, no. No.
She doesn't listen. And I really wanted her to know that I said this stuff. And I said, I texted her and I said, hey, just so you know, I said YOLO, and it slaps, and I have bangers on the show today. I said all three of those things. And then I said, hashtag I'm so cool.
And she went. You used a hashtag? Yeah. All right.
And she said, oh no. Yeah. Those are the worst things you ever could have said.
Yeah. And she said, someone's got to teach you new slang. And I said, I thought those were new slang.
No, you didn't. Yeah. No.
Yes, I did. And I she goes, Well, I mean, I go, bangers and slaps are new. No. But she goes, not really. I said, she goes, what does I have bangers mean?
Yeah. And I said, Oh, it was talking about my music playlist. And she said, she said, that's okay. I'll give you that one. Okay. And I said, sick. You said sick. Yes. You're so cool.
How do you do it? I mean, it's just natural. Oh, is it? It just, it just comes naturally. I mean, some people. you Some people you have to like they have to work to be so cool. But it just, I mean, I was born this way. Lady Gaga wrote a song about it. Yeah.
Yeah. It's not about being born cool. I mean, it's about accepting yourself for who you are, but that's fine. It's also important.
It's just muscle.
You should do that. Meet yourself where you're at. And that I believe you have. You're very accepting of yourself. Like, nah, I'm good.
This is YOLO. Listen to me right now when I tell you that I'm too old to change. Yeah. And I don't have the end. I'm too tired.
Hashtag too tired.
Hashtag this is who I am. Yeah. I can't be any more than what I am. Great. Huh. You're welcome. I knew she would appreciate it.
I just like that her initial reaction was the most appropriate one when she said, oh no.
I almost wish that instead of texting her, I would have like just said it and recorded her audio because she would have said, Oh no.
Yeah, no, you didn't. No, you didn't, is what she says. You didn't do that. Like you're you're embarrassed by association. Like, I can't believe I know you.
You have to listen. If you have a teenager and you like embarrassing them, you can't humiliate them. And there is a fine line. And you have to know, and I have crossed that line accidentally a few times. Right. But sometimes you have to know what buttons to push and when to push them. Sure. And so the other day we were at the store, and she really does not like when we talk to strangers.
Whether it's I like one thing she really doesn't like, and it's a fun bit for me. It's so fun. I know what you're gonna say. What?
When you call people by their name.
Yeah, oh, it drives her nuts. People wear name tags, and I go, Thanks, Jeff. And she's like, why did you call him his name? I'm like, because he's wearing a name tag. She is like in another world when that happens. Have a good day, Jeff. Why did you say his name? It's got a name tag.
What I like to do, one of my favorite bits is if I see somebody in a sports uniform.
Yeah, you go, hey, go team. Hey, good luck with those Seahawks, huh? You said at the grocery store. And the guy did not even understand a word you said.
So we were leaving the store the other day, and there was a guy in a Minnesota Vikings hat, and I was like, ha! One of my kind. Oh, you didn't see his shirt. I saw his shirt too.
He had a jacket on, and I and so the shirt. I didn't notice he had a hat on, too. I saw the shirt, and I thought, oh, here we go. I saw the purple with the little Viking logo, and I went, She's gonna say something. She's gonna go, let's go Vikes.
But I could feel and You were gonna do a skull. I could feel Emery's energy behind me. I was like, uh, it's not it's not the right time. Because she saw it too. She was already a little bit moody because she hadn't eaten dinner yet.
Ah, that's important. Feed the teenager.
You gotta beat her first. Yeah, she's like a gremlin.
Yeah, or you don't feed the gremlins, it's the anti-gremlin.
And I said, I'm not gonna say anything, it's not the right time. And then we walked out past the gentleman, and she said, Thank you for not saying anything. I went, be cool, my baby. Be cool.
Oh, yeah, that was that helps. That calms the situation. Be cool. Be cool, my baby.
I'm trying to give her lessons on how to be cool.
Yeah, well, it just emanates, you know. Look at you. This is what I have to give. So this couple that climbed the Empire State Building, they've like immediately gained some celebrity status.
I don't know if you've seen this. Like uh, so they were released after the courts, uh, after they went to court and stuff. Um and I can't, I don't know what their punishment or whatever is gonna be uh for for the stunt that they pulled, but they got engaged up there, they hung up the flag. Uh it's a message of love, like a lot of it's really interesting. Like they weren't like doing anything hateful or whatever. So it's it's been it's been being treated interestingly, but then they they left the courthouse. There was a ton of people waiting to get pictures and a bunch of media and stuff, and they've been like uh the subway, they've like been stopped, and people have been taking pictures with them, like they've like just blown up.
Yeah, my boss yesterday said he took a screenshot of right when he he went to the woman's Instagram page and took a screenshot of our followers, yeah, and then an hour later looked, and she had jumped like hundreds of thousands of followers It's going to be insane. in like a matter of hours, right?
Well, and even last night you were like, Do you want to watch the Skywalker show on Netflix? And I went, uh I don't know, maybe like it's not on my like must watch list, but it's I'm curious. But then I started doing some uh some learning about the Empire State building.
And did you know? And you may have because you've been there and you've gone up to the observation deck. It was too windy. You see, you didn't get to leave the elevator.
We paid a lot of money and we waited in a lot of lines, and we got to the observation deck, and they said, You can't go out because it's too windy, so you're gonna have to look from the inside. Okay, but you you were up there, yes. You just didn't get to go outside. It was a waste of money. Okay, and I'm still mad about it. Go ahead.
Glad I brought it up. But did you know that uh the spire up there was built as a uh airship mooring mast. I don't know what that means. So the Zeppelins, the big helium filled blimps, uh-huh, it was a like an airport for blimps. Yeah, look it up. Look up Empire State Building Zeppelin dock.
So here's the the whole deal though, was that there is such an updraft from the streets below that it it's an unsteady area, so the the action they really like historically, one was able to dock there for about three minutes, and then they did kind of a flyby where they picked up a mailbag without stopping, and that's essentially it. But then my whole my whole world gets really lost in like air travel with Zeppelins was a real thing. Yeah. And it's so bizarre to look at like pictures and video and stuff.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's so stupid. It is originally designed. The spire was originally designed as a mooring mask to dock zeppelins and let passengers step directly into elevators.
Correct. And then it would take you seven minutes to get to the bottom of the tower. You'd be on the street in Manhattan after you flew there from all over the world.
So yeah. However, it says the plan was a total failure. Correct. The building created extreme wind gusts and it made docking too dangerous, and the idea was canceled.
So they did it one time. They docked a Zeppelin to the Empire State Building once for about three minutes, and then they went, This is too dangerous. Yeah. But all of the mooring portholes and stuff are still up there. So is because I was looking at like the map of the tower because there's radio equipment up there. And so I was curious about like who was up on top of that building. Um and uh I found out about that, and I went, This is crazy. This is crazy.
Yeah, so they would they the Zeppelin would fly up, drop a heavy rope and tie its nose to the top of the tower. So it was kind of like suspended there, and then the passengers would walk out of the Zeppelin down a slanted bridge, yeah, and let every passenger step off. Unreal. And take an elevator straight to the street. Yeah. But yeah, it was like a leaf blower.
Yeah, it was just so much upward draft
from the airship up and down by 20 to 60 feet.
It's yeah, it was completely uh impossible because of that.
Because Zeppelins are so just large, yeah, they need crews of dozens of people to tie the heavy cables down safely. Yeah. And you had to do that almost 1300 feet in the sky.
I mean, the Hindenburg kind of ruined the travel for helium uh blimps, you know. But that is that's crazy. And Germany was huge, huge, huge with the Zeppelin air travel. Uh and they used them for you know, war machines and all kinds of stuff too. But that is just fascinating to me. That is fascinating to me. Looking at the pictures and stuff, I'm like, this is this can't be real. Like, it just doesn't seem real that this was what was going on in the 30s and 40s. They were blimps flying around the city. Crazy. Right? Like that seems so weird.
It's so dangerous. What are we doing, guys?
Anyway, but that spire still has the
Okay, so you said, hold on, you said they're still.
Yeah, the portholes are still there. Yeah, the mooring portholes are still there.
Explain what those are. I don't know.
So when they would drop the ropes down, they would anchor them inside the building, so the ropes would pass through the mooring ports. Oh, okay. So if you look at the if you look at the not where the radio tower is that's built on top of it, uh-huh, but where the the where the little uh I guess where the tower originally ended, there's there's holes all the way around it, little portholes like a ship that the ropes would pass through, and that's all still there. Like that's that's all still part of the construction of the tower. They didn't like close that off or rebuild it or change it or anything.
Those portholes are still there. Anyway, it's so interesting. Would you ride a zeppelin? No. I won't ride on a hot air balloon. I'm not gonna do it in a helium one. No, thank you. Although this does have maneuverability, so there is that like a hot air balloon, you can't steer.
It's just up and then wherever you go. No thanks. Nope. There's A lot of pressure on one person.
That's what the meme said. It said it's a lot of pressure to be the only one who can prevent wildfires. Only you can prevent wildfires. That's a pretty good smoky bear. Uh if I don't say so myself.
Time out because I have just learned that his name is Smoky Bear. Yeah. And it's not Smokey the Bear. Right. My whole life I've thought it was Smoky the Bear. Oh. Smoky Bear is his name. Yeah, there's a song. What is it? Is it like Pokey Bear?
Uh, it's different, but yeah. Because Pokey Bear is not smoky bear. So it's different, but also a song about a bear.
How does it go? I don't know the Smoky Bear song.
Because Pokebar gets slow. Yeah, because Pokey Bear is slow.
Pokey Bear. Right. Pokey Bear.
Smoky Bear uh loses his hair because of the fire. Oh no. It's a sad song. I don't remember it that well. I just remember my aunt sang it a lot. It was a smoky bear. You Why do you have no hair? I can't remember. Okay.
It If it was Smokey Bear, you have no hair. It's been so many years. I'm really trying to rack my brain for the past like 40 years to figure out what the words to that song are. I don't even know. I've never even heard it.
I wonder if they copied the song from Pokey Bear. But they just added. No, it's not the same tune. Smokey. It's not. No. Okay, I just looked up Smokey the Smokey Bear song.
Smokey the Bear song from Eddie Arnold, I see.
Smoky the Bear. That's right. I'll tell you, is what it says.
From from Eddie Arnold from 1952.
I think the internet is trying to gaslight me. I think the internet is like, no, it's always been Smokey Bear. And I'm like, you're wrong because it's Smokey the Bear, not Smokey Bear. And I think they're confusing Smokey the Bear with Pokey Bear. No. And they are very different. I don't think so. Yeah. I do.
Because when you go to Smokey Bear.com, that is where you will get to know Smokey Bear.
I'm sorry. Everything I'm looking has Smokey the Bear. Go to Smokey Bear.com. Smokey Bear.com is new.
Smokey Bear.com is not new. Smokey Bear.com is where you go to get wildfire prevention tips. You can learn about wildfires. You can learn all about Smoky Bear. Smokey the Bear. No. Your gaslighting.
For more than 80 years, Smokey Bear has taught generations of Americans about the importance of wildfire prevention. Only you can prevent them, though. That's right. It's a lot of pressure. You're right. It's a lot of pressure. Whoa.
Smokey the bear got just Smokey Bear. He's ripped. Yeah, he got like updated. Yeah, look at him. Are you at Smoky Bear.com? If Smokey the Bear is always in the wild. That's right. In the woods, why isn't it up to him to prevent the wildfires?
No, he's there to remind you.
Maybe he could just be a little proactive. Hey, he's a bear. He's there to remind you to take care of the forests.
That's his whole deal. I have a picture with Smokey Bear somewhere. I gotta remember where that is. Yeah, I met Smokey. When? Oh, that's a good picture. Where? The thing. How old were you? Old. Like it was within the last 10 years. Were you so excited? I kinda. Were you like I like Smokey Bear?
Bro, I've been I've been doing my part.
There's something about a bear wearing just jeans and a hat. You know? He's like, shirts? No way. I don't need them. I got jeans and a hat. Why doesn't he have a shirt?
I don't know. Does he I mean I'm not mad. Like I just realized he runs he rolls around pants and a hat. Does he have shoes? I don't think so. He's just got bare feet. Pants, belt, hat.
He's keeping it cash.
Shuffle. Let's go. He's keeping it real cash. Yeah, no, he doesn't have. I'm looking at Smokey through the years. He doesn't have shoes. He's pants belt hat. He has a belt. Yeah, oh yeah. Belt buckle. And I think his belt buckle says smokey on it, too. It says something.
So his hat says Smokey and his. He's into Brandon Merch. Yeah. He's really into it.
What is his belt buckle say? Now I gotta look at it.
Okay, I'm also looking at Smokey through the years. Yeah. And it's just a recent change, the Smokey Bear. You cannot convince me that we didn't used to call him Smokey the Bear.
you having a Mandela effect?
I know I'm telling you right now, I'm looking at this magazine from August 1959 where it says Smokey the Bear Nature Stories. His name is Smokey the Bear.
Okay, but 1957, it says Smokey Bear's story of the forest.
I don't even care. It's Smokey the Bear. Okay.
Don't even I mean, I'm just saying in the timeline of things, he's been Smokey Bear more than he's been Smokey the Bear. Disagree. But here's the thing. I don't think it matters. We're talking about a bear who wears pants, a felt and a hat. So you know. Only you. Oh, time out, time out. Can prevent wild.
I found the uh song. It was made in 1952, and it's called Smokey the Bear by Steve Nelson and Jack Rollins. Okay, that's a different story. Uh different song. They wrote a popular anthem. Okay. That would launch a continuous debate about Smokey's name to maintain the rhythm of the song. Sure. They added the they added the between Smokey and Bear.
Due to the song's popularity, Smokey Bear has been called Smokey the Bear, but in actuality, his name never changed. He's still Smokey Bear.
There you go. So look, uh you're still calling him Smokey. I think that's the big deal. Also, cool name. Smoky. It's pretty on the nose, isn't it? It is. Yeah. If you smell smoke, there could be fire. Hey, and only you. Only you.
And is it forest fires or wildfire? Wildfires.
Only you can prevent wildfires. Uh is the thing. By the way, Smokey Bear.com, just as a PSA, you can get uh resources for kids. You can learn about wildfires. You can learn about wildfire prevention. And in this year, it's probably a good idea to educate yourself a little bit about wildfires. Uh campfire safety, debris burning safety, vehicle safety, lawn and power tools. They've got outdoor grilling safety and home safety on here. Maybe educate yourself a little bit.
They do. This is actually it is actually a really cool website because they've got all these resources for kids where you can like get an activity book and there's puppets in a stage that you can print out. No kidding. Yeah.
In the educational resources thing. Yes. That's cool.
I know. It's really cool. Yeah.
Anyway, uh, maybe uh maybe check that out. I am checking it out. Smoky Bear.com.
You could even print out a Smokey the Bear partner certificate. Whoa. And then only you can prevent wild.
Has only been me. It's the whole time.
You gotta get that pants and hat look going. It's ridiculous.
I've been doing this thing that I call memorable moments. And so I am tracking the following day. I'm tracking the prior days, like a memorable moment from the prior day. A memorable moment. It's kind of like a gratitude journal.
Yeah, that's what I do in my journal.
Yeah, it's like a just a nice like this cool thing happened. Or like I enjoyed the sun. I mean, it could be as simple as like I enjoyed the sunset on the deck. Or I had a quiet, like bath, and it was awesome. Like just silly little things like that. Not silly, because it's what makes life life, right? Yeah.
So at the top of my journal page is that what was great about today. Josh. Yeah. And so I haven't written in here yet, but my my thing from yesterday that I was gonna write in to my to my journal for what was great about yesterday. Yeah. Was tell me yours, and I'll tell you mine.
Snap peas in the garden. Oh. It was awesome. That was awesome. Yeah.
Hanging out, taking you on a garden tour, and we're grabbing snap peas off the off the vine and walking around looking at plants, eating snap peas. That's what it's about. That's going in the journal. That was a good yeah. What was yours? What's yours called? Things I enjoyed about today. It just says what was great about today.
Oh mine is called Memorable Moments. Memorable Moments.
See, uh, and I do mine in a physical book. You're doing uh spreadsheet. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah.
Which is fine. I'm a little more analog in my process, but I'm also tracking habits. Like you haven't seen this whole thing.
No, no, no, but I'm also tracking habits.
Yeah, so I've got my habit tracking in here and then my uh my sleep score and my day rating. Yeah. And then I have a thing down here to track weight, and you'll notice it's blank.
Have you not been tracking your weight, or you just don't want to track it? I have uh both. Yeah. I've done that.
But I upgraded. This is what it used to look like, but it was the same concept for the past couple of months. And these were called, what does it say? Memorable moments. Memorable moments.
Memorable moments. Yeah. I just changed it to this month. I changed it to what was great about today. Why'd you change it?
I wanted to change my head. Okay. About it.
Okay. Because a memorable moment doesn't necessarily have to be a good thing. It could be just a it could be anything. Like it could be something that sticks out. Like today was hard. Sometimes that's what you write. Yeah. Right?
I've written that before where it's like, yeah, I don't have much to write today. I've written that before. I don't have much to write today.
So yeah, no, uh, I think uh like I started doing this in March, I think is when I got the book and started doing stuff. Yeah. Same.
I think because you saw somebody on TikTok doing it, and you were like, I'm gonna do it. YouTube, but yes. And I go, me too. Do you want to hear about my memorable moment from yesterday? Sure thing. Thanks for asking.
Go ahead. We've been trying to take nightly walks. We haven't been always successful because life gets in the way and we've been busy. And so we decided to take a walk last night and we convinced our son to go to go with us. Big deal.
It was a big deal. Because he gets home late from work. He's off and tired. He goes directly to his room. He comes out to eat dinner and he's like, yeah, I'm gonna go chill out. And we're like, okay, do your thing. But we convinced him to go. And he was a little bit of a chatterbox.
He was. I think he enjoyed it more than he thought he was going to do it.
going to. I think he did, too. And he was telling us about the clouds, and he loves space a whole lot, So he was telling us all about space and Yeah. there was a lot of listening. There was a lot chitch.
I did a lot of listening.
Which is good. I'm good with it. I loved it.
Because usually when it's just you and me on the walk, I gotta do a lot of listening. So it was just I was in my comfort zone. I saw a thing yesterday. And it said uh there are two types of people that marry each other. One who has to think about everything and process it before they can talk about it.
And one who has to talk about it in order to process everything. And that's just where you put the talking about it. And I'm the I'm gonna be quiet. I'm gonna think about stuff, I'm gonna ponder, I'm gonna spend time with it. Yeah, and then I'll talk about it. And you're the I've got to talk through this right now. Yeah. To get it out of my head.
And I often I have to do that multiple times. I'm like, I know I've said the same thing multiple times, but I gotta talk about it again. You're just the sounding board.
That's right. And I love it. Just kidding. Just kidding. Uh anyway. You are though, I know you well enough now to know that you are a thinker first. Oh, big time. And then you'll talk about it. But you don't always talk about it.
No, because if I process it and there's nothing to talk about, that's what happens. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But sometimes that drives me a little bit crazy because I want to know how you've processed it. And I go, tell me what you're thinking. And you're like, no, I I sorted it out. I'm fine. There's nothing to say. But I want to know.
There's nothing to know. There's nothing to say. But talk to me about it. About what? There's nothing to say about anything. Anyway. No, that's a good memorable moment. That's a good uh one.
Snap peas peace in the garden.
Snap peas in the garden was pretty. That is pretty great. Yeah. And I threw one from outside the garden and it made it into the compost bin. I felt very accomplished. It was uh swish.
I know. And I've never been more attracted to it. Oh, is that right?
Can we talk about uh Idaho's birthday? Yeah. I mean, we're talking about a hundred and thirty-six years Idaho's been around. She's so young. Today is Idaho. Here we have Idaho.
Here we have Idaho, winning her way to fame. That's right. Look at her. Look at her go. I mean, listen, a lot gets lost in the shuffle of America's birthday. But true story. Let's take today and celebrate Idaho.
Ah, okay. What do you what do you uh what do you want to celebrate? You want to celebrate our mountains, our prairies, our deserts, our rivers, our lakes. What do you want to celebrate? All of it. Our people.
All of it. Our agricultural uh roots. Dominance.
Agricultural root. I don't know. Dominance? Yes.
Is that a thing? Okay. All right.
Sure, sure, sure, sure, sure. Uh, we've got quite a quite a bit of uh famous mountain ranges. Yeah. Let's name some.
Okay. Name a mountain range in Idaho. The sawtooth. Great choice. Good one. Thank you. Yeah.
Name another one. Tetons. Those are in Wyoming. I know.
I knew that after I said it. Uh another mountain range. R uh just to the east of the sawtooths.
I have spent a week in there. Uh butte. No.
The white clouds. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
What about the bitter root mountains? We've been there. The lot. Yeah.
The Lost River Range, the Lemhigh Range. You've been past all of those. Yep. Because we drove right down the canyon between the two. Yes. Yes. For hours and then ended up in the beautiful deserts of the Ledor and Mackey area. Beautiful.
Beautiful. Flat land.
You struggle with the uh with the desert thing.
I am not a fan of the Mackey area. Okay. I know. I know. People are going to come at me for that.
No, what's the what's the struggle?
It just seems so dry and desolate and flat. Yeah. And that is not it's not my idea of beauty. Okay. But I know for a lot of people, they really love it. And I'm not trying to harsh your style. Okay. I'm just simply saying that's not my jam.
What about we've got uh we've got craters, uh like craters of the moon. We got lots of lots of lava.
Yeah, I guess. We've got my favorite sagebrush for days. Yep.
Which means we have rattlesnakes and antelopes. And rabbits. And jackalopes. Yes. What's uh hey. You're gonna let jackalopes go. Okay. Cool. State animal, the jackal.
It's not the state animal. But do you know what the state horse is?
Uh is the Apaloosa. You got it, Pat. Yeah. Yeah. I do remember fourth grade. Yeah.
I wish I had my Idaho State history book. Don't you wish you still had yours? No.
I've Never once been like, man, I wish I still had that textbook. No.
It wasn't a textbook. It was a binder that we made ourselves. Oh, yeah. And it had like, yeah, coloring pages. And cool. I made mine so pretty. I wish I still had it. You can make a new one. I drew an Appaloosa in it.
No way. Sure. I want to see that. I know.
I gotta go dig through my mom's house. I she probably still has it somewhere. Yeah.
So take a look at uh at an Idaho map like of counties. Okay. So pull that up. Do you know?
Hold on. Do you know what our Idaho motto is?
What's a motto with you? Is that what it is? Wouldn't that be funny if they were like, what's the state motto? And it was what's a motto with you. It's not that. But what is it?
It's Esto Perpetua. Yeah. Let it be perpetual.
Yeah. Let it be forever.
I wonder who comes up with this stuff. Okay, what am I looking up?
A map, uh, Idaho County map. Okay. Why? Uh, because I wanted to, I want to see uh which which counties you've been to. It's fascinating. It sure is.
Okay. I used to know the counties.
Yeah, you had a song that you sing, you sing. you know, like two of them. Now I get stuck at the C's.
Ada Adam's Bannock Bear, like Binowa Bingham William Boise, Bonner, Bonneville, Blaine. Look at you. No, it's all wrong. I got it all wrong. Okay.
So I'm looking at this county map. Uh you're big on Custer County. You like a seven C. That's kind of your big area. That's where Mackie's at. Your big, your big Custer County girl. You like it.
Lemhai and Custer. Right there. Central, North Central Idaho. That's it's your spot.
Yeah. Where do you like? I mean, I know I know we're down here, Bonneville, Bingham, Bannock area, Madison, Jefferson, Teton. Like we spent a lot of time in Clark and Fremont, power. You go over to Casha and Minadoka. You like those areas. Well, that's home base. Yeah. Okay. I mean, this is home base.
Uh definitely Bonneville and Bannock are home base because I've lived there longer than I lived in Gaza. Okay. But casual's like home home base. All right. Like that's where I this is where I that's my stomping ground.
Is that right? The mini casha area. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. How much time do you spent in Hawaii? None. Me neither. Actually. And that is that's a problem. Because I've driven through Elmore County. I've never stopped. Never. I've spent plenty of time in Blaine County. Uh not much in Camas County. Uh-uh. Same. Little bit in Ada. And not much anywhere else. I mean, we've only been up into like Kootenai County like once when we went to Hiawatha. Right.
We haven't spent any time in Valley. Or Idaho.
Idaho County. Look how big Idaho County is. It's huge. We gotta hit all the counties. We gotta hit the counties. We've gotta. It's just it's just gotta happen. We've been to Shoshone County.
Because we hit Wallace up there. That's true. Center of the universe in Wallace, Idaho. We drove through. You know, there's really not that very many counties. We gotta go hit them all. Let's make that a like a thing. Yeah, that could be fun. Yeah.
Visit all all counties in the state.
Here's the thing. My dad was a truck driver. Sure thing. And so he would go all over Idaho. And so when he talks about like when I'm seeing some of these places like Weezer. Uh-huh. He was always in Weezer and he was always in Bonner's Ferry. I gotta go on a Bonner's Ferry tomorrow.
That's all the way up there. That's a big drive. Yeah, that's what he would say. From Casha County all the way to Boundary County, which is the boundary of Idaho and Canada. Yeah, all the way up there.
And then he'd say, I gotta hit the sweet surpass. Was that a thing? I bet. I can't remember. And I'd be like, he would tell me all about where he was going. I don't know what you're talking about, Dad.
You didn't have the county map up. You needed the county map.
Hey, happy birthday, Ida. Yeah, no kid. You're just such a baby. I mean, really. 136, I know. It's so young. Yeah. Just a baby.
Okay. Yeah, happy birthday, Idaho. Um 43rd state. I know. United States.
We're like the little sister of the nation. There are younger ones. I know, but we're the cuter ones. Oh, is that right?
I was bugging you, and so you didn't do your job. And so now when I say, would you rather this or that? You go, oh no.
I'm totally unprepared.
I was bugging you. I was showing you a video while you're doing that. I was showing you a video. And then you said, we need to do some fun videos like that. And then uh you said, but I need to lighten up. Uh meaning me, not you. You said to me, but you need to lighten up a little bit. So okay. My bad.
That came across more harsh than I meant. It sure did. I know.
Anyway, I'll work on lightening up. Did you get a would you rather? Yeah. Okay, would you rather?
Josh. Let me, I gotta explain.
No, go ahead. Would you rather this or that?
Okay. Would you? This is a 4th of July edition. Oh, how timely. Would you rather have a hot dog launcher built into your arm? Cool. Or the ability to shoot fireworks from your fingertips. Also cool. I know.
I'm gonna go with uh okay. Hold on. Do I have to buy the hot dogs for the hot dog launcher, or are they just generate somehow? Generate. That's weird. Same with the fireworks. I'm gonna pick that though. Because you imagine how many people I could feed with my hot dog launcher arm.
Are you launching cold hot dogs or are you launching hot hot dogs? In a bun. Just naked? Like, do they have condiments on them?
People can figure that out. I'm just giving you the hot dog in a bun. Okay. Out of my arm. Okay. How forceful is it?
What if somebody has celiac's disease? Then don't eat the bun. I don't I don't know what to tell you.
You're giving me way too many variables for a thing that'll never happen. I'm not gonna have a hot dog launch and arm. I just thought it would be nice to be able to feed people.
Yeah, but I gotta think about everybody, Josh. Some people don't like hot dogs without ketchup. Okay. Some people can't eat the bun because it's got gluten in it. Some people are vegetarian. Do you have vegan hot dogs?
No, I have you gave me one hot dog launcher arm that generates hot dogs on its own. I'm just saying I'm just feeding the people. Well, some I'm feeding the masses.
You might make some of the people sick, is what I'm saying.
Don't eat my hot dog arm. Hot dogs. Then hot dog arm hot dogs.
I'm gonna shoot fireworks for my fingertips.
That's a cool, cool thing to be aware.
Listen to me right now when I tell you that when I say a joke that I think it's funny, I'm gonna go pew. fireworks. And everyone's gonna be like, that was amazing. I'll be like, I know. Stop.
What was that forehead hair move thing you did? Thank you. It was my humble, like that's a humble. Yes. Humble hair parting. It was weird. Oh, funny.
I wish I could shoot fireworks for my fingertips.
Well, tape fireworks to your fingertips.
Good idea. Smart.
Don't do that. Don't do that. Do not do that. Don't bad idea. Terrible idea.
All the firemen and women will be so mad at you if you do that. Don't do that.
Yeah, firefighters are pretty united around. Don't tape fireworks to yourself. Nope. I think there's probably not even one that would say, good idea. Don't. And if there is, terrible firefighter. Hey, also. Yeah.
Uh be safe when you're eating your hot dogs because they are a choking hazard. I choked on a hot dog once. Did you? Yeah, my mom had to say my life. Did she?
Yeah, she had to give me the whole Heimlich. It was a big deal. How old were you? We were camping. I was 11, 12, something like that. So you are old enough to know better. I take big bites. Yes, you do. I take big bites.
Props to mom. I'm glad she saved your life. Yeah. Be careful, everyone. With fireworks and with hot dogs. Stay Stay safe. Would you rather this or that? Stay alive. Would you rather this or that?
So before we wrap up, I thought I'd give you the opportunity to explain yourself. Regarding what? Uh telling me I needed to lighten up. I mean, I know I I need to like lose some weight. Is that what you meant?
That's not what I meant. Lighting up. No, that's not what I meant at all. Okay. What I meant was we were talking about making some silly videos. And I said, I'm always down for that. You oftentimes struggle to be a little bit silly or goofy. And so when I said lighten up, I just meant like just like relax a little bit enough that you can just be a little bit silly and a little bit goofy and a little bit weird. That's all. Yeah, lighten up. Come on.
Why are you so like hi strung? Lighten up, buddy.
Just like just relax a little into the goofy side of yourself. That's all. That's all, Josh.
Okay. Is that that's the end of the explanation? Yeah. All right. I'll work on lighting it up. I mean, I'm pretty laid back casual kind of guy.
No, you absolutely are. You are not. So I don't think I'm wound up tight or anything.
Not. You are not.
And I appreciate that about you because I am tightly wound. But I am more apt to lean into my like, let's let's make a weird video. Right. You're like, uh you're a little more trepidatious. You're like, I don't know.
I don't know. So I should lighten up. Lighten up. Come on, big guy. Okay. It's all right. Josh, I love you for who you are. Aw. That's good. Because me.
Uh, let's go ahead and wrap up the show for today.
All right. It's been a goofy one today. It has been.
One for the books for sure. Um, if you uh want to listen again, you can. I think the entire show is available as a podcast. Yeah.
There are days, and I know you say you say this to me. You go, I go, that was a fun show today. And you go, every show is a fun show. But like there are days where it's like extra fun. Today felt like an extra fun show. And I think it's because like we're energized.
Because the weekend is the fourth weekend. July, and Idaho's birthday. And it's like a lot of things. Yeah.
So I'm and also our day ends at the end of the show. Yeah. Yeah. So like I'm feeling pumped. Yeah. Now, tomorrow you're gonna find us at Snake River Landing for a good majority of the day. So uh if if you want to bump into us, you want to say hi, that's where we're gonna be uh for a good portion of the day.
Snake River Landing. So uh, you know, we'd love to meet you and say hi. I think that'd be a lot of fun.
I agree. Um, so if you see us, say hey, we'll stop, we'll say hey. Whatever we're running around. Unless we're like in a super hurry, and then we'll be like, don't move. And then we'll try to remember to come back. Let's give a code word. Uh, what kind of code word?
To the people who are listening right now. Let's say bomb diggity. What is that? If you see us tomorrow and you say, whoa, bomb diggity.
Then you're gonna know that you they heard what you're saying right now.
And then I'm gonna give you a double high five. Too high five. No, like oh, two hands.
To a hand. Not too hot, not too high fives, a double-handed high five. Yeah. Wow. Something to look forward to.
If you're listening right now and you see us tomorrow, bomb diggity. All right. Two high fives. What a treat.
That's fine. Uh, we'll be we'll be at the uh Idle Falls Community Hospital Riverfest, presented by ICCU uh pretty much noon on. So uh, you know, come and see us. And uh and uh it's gonna be a lot of fun. We'll be there all day and all night, because after the fireworks, we still have work to do. That's it's a long one. It's a long day.
And you won't find us nowhere on Sunday. That is correct. We'll be at home. We'll be somewhere hibernating and recovering.
Yep. Uh that that's what's going on. Have a great weekend. Be safe. If you're traveling, travel safely, patiently, be careful. And uh, we love to see you back here on Monday.
Yes, that's true. We'll be back bright and early in the studio. So have a great Fourth of July weekend. Wear your sunscreen. And we'll see you later. Goodbye.
