Geek Critic is a short-form podcast for sci-fi and fantasy nerds who want smart episode reviews without the fluff. Hosted by Oren, each season focuses on one TV show — breaking down every episode in under 10 minutes with spoiler-filled commentary, reactions, and analysis.

Hello everyone and welcome to Geek Critique. This
is a short podcast where I review TV shows and do
it episode by episode. Some of them are going
to be old, some of them are going to be new. In
this little episode, I'm not going to review any
episode of any show. I'm just going to explain
what this podcast is going to look like over the
next few weeks. So, let's do just that. Okay. So,
one thing I wanted to do for a long time was just
review episodes of shows I'm watching. One such
show that I watched recently was The Expanse.
I watched the first season, all 10 episodes,
and I really wanted to talk to someone about it.
The reason being not just because I want to talk
about new shows, which is what I do want to do,
but also because this show, The Expanse, is the
basis for a new video game called The Expanse
Osiris Reborn. One dilemma that I faced was that
this is already a finished show. there aren't
new episodes coming. It's not like Dimension 20
where I can actually review all the episodes up
to a certain point and then have to wait week by
week for the new episodes to drop. So, my dilemma
was, would I still need to be quote unquote stuck
in the past reviewing a show that's already ended
or should I also do do new things that are still
ongoing? The compromise I decided upon, and that's
what we're going to do over the next few weeks,
is to have special days. Um, for now, I think it
might be just me chugging out all the episodes of
The Expanse that I already watched because I did
watch all of season 1. And then I would create the
episodes for season two after each time I watch
an episode. And then I can also throw in my honest
uh gut predictions for what's going to happen in
the next episode. And when that happens, I would
go to publish the episodes weekly and that's going
to happen on a specific day. And then I am free to
use the rest of the days of the week to talk about
other things. maybe other new show or new shows
that are ongoing that I'm watching right now or
other shows where I can kind of cover more ground
and it could also open up the avenue of uh doing
a Friday episode where I just talk about anything
geek related. One question that might rise in
your mind right now is how is this different
than Geek Peek and why is it on Geek Peek? So the
answer is twofold. Uh first of all, Geek Peek is
about interviews. I interview other people or I
do episodes with Cody and uh then we kind of have
a conversation which is not one to many like me
talking to a camera. It's usually something that
creates more uh insights and reliant on the other
person and this podcast is more kind of me sharing
my thoughts uh with people who want to listen to
them and it also creates the basis for articles
that I can publish on Geek Peek. For example, when
I do uh an episode on here on Geek Critique where
I talk about The Expanse episode 1, it is probably
also the basis of what I'm going to write about
in a review of episode 1. So I can just take the
transcript that I generate after recording this
episode of course fix all the mistakes and then
use that as the basis for creating that article
about uh episode one season 1 and then publish
it on Geek Peek. Geek Critique is not going to
have its own website. it's going to live on Geek
Peek and that way I can also chug those episodes
faster because I am faster at speaking than
writing. And also when I speak to the camera I'm
usually sharing my uh my raw thoughts and I might
need to edit them a little bit for the articles.
It's not something that I have lots more
work to do on uh when I decide to do it. So,
Geek Critique is going to actually kind of become
the discoverability engine for other things in
the Geek Peek umbrella. And I also have my other
blog which is more focused on content creation,
uh The Ggeek Ccreator. And that also ties into
the mix because then I can write there about
the entire process of building this funnel for
lack of a better word. So that's what's going to
happen over the next few days and weeks. I'm going
to publish the episodes from The Expanse. Uh I'm
not going to publish them on a schedule. I'm just
going to publish them when they're ready. Uh and
then we kind of move to a different schedule where
I also do other shows. Um, by the way, the other
shows that I'm going to target are other podcasts
that are focused on TTRPG. For example, uh one of
the things that I want to uh to do in addition
to the expanse is also uh rewatch all the 17
episodes that I watched from Worlds Beyond Number
and then from there do honest raw gut reactions to
uh the other episodes because they are wrapping up
and I do want to kind of uh stay consistent with
it at least. Um, so yeah, that's also something
that's going to happen at least for the main
campaign. I know the uh uh worlds beyond number
has other mini campaigns, but I'm going to focus
first on the main campaign that is uh releasing
uh week on week off. So yeah, that's it. Let
me know what you think in the comments. Uh or if
you have uh any other topics for me to talk about
on Fridays or on other days of the week because
for now it's just I think Sunday and Tuesday or
Monday and Tuesday. Um I'm still undecided about
the days. So if you have a suggestion for a day,
uh uh let me know in the comments below. Also,
these are this is probably going to be uh the
longest episodes the longest episode in one of the
uh in in the recent episodes I'm planning because
now I'm kind of like explaining the big picture.
Um but for the episodes themselves, what I'm going
to do is just have a piece of paper and a pen and
write down points that I want to talk about in the
episode that I'm filming afterwards. and that's
probably going to be it. So, I don't think that
each episode I'm doing uh for an episode of a show
is going to be more than 10 minutes. Um, so yeah,
I just wanted to throw that out there. Thank you
