Living — Heaven on Earth is a gentle, grounded podcast of sacred practices for everyday life. Each episode invites listeners to embody spiritual truth through breath, presence, and simple rituals that turn ordinary moments into living prayer. Rooted in the Heaven on Earth book series, this show bridges inspiration and integration, guiding you to walk the path of unity, love, and remembrance — not as ideas to learn, but as a way of being to live.
Welcome. Wherever you are, feel the weight of your body, Feel the ground beneath you. Let your breath soften. Let your shoulders fall away from the day. Let this moment become a doorway.
Jeffrey Aylor:This is living, heaven on earth. Not a place to think about truth, but a place to walk it. Breathe it and become it. Let the earth hold you. Let the moment teach you.
Jeffrey Aylor:We begin here. Welcome to Living Heaven on Earth. A sacred space where spiritual practice becomes embodied life. There are times when spiritual practice feels natural. When life is quiet.
Jeffrey Aylor:When the morning is peaceful. When our hearts are open and our path seems clear. And then there are the other times. The phone call we never expected. The diagnosis.
Jeffrey Aylor:The loss, the conflict, the natural disaster, the family crisis,
Jeffrey Aylor:The financial
Jeffrey Aylor:uncertainty. The social upheaval. The
Jeffrey Aylor:moment when what once felt solid suddenly begins to shake. These are the moments when spiritual practice moves from something we do to something we need. Today we explore practice in crisis, anchoring peace and light in times of turmoil. Take a slow breath. Allow yourself to arrive here.
Jeffrey Aylor:You do not need to solve anything in this moment. You do not need to pretend everything is okay. You do not need to force yourself into peace.
Jeffrey Aylor:Simply be here. Breathing.
Jeffrey Aylor:Present. Held. There is a question that often rises within. Beloved source, how do I stay grounded in you when everything around me is shaking? How do I respond to crisis, not with fear, but with faith and love?
Jeffrey Aylor:Child of light, you were not made to become the storm. You were made to experience peace within it.
Jeffrey Aylor:Peace, be still.
Jeffrey Aylor:The winds may howl. The earth may tremble. The world may forget itself. But you need not forget who you are. There is a still point within you that the storm cannot reach.
Jeffrey Aylor:There is a breath beneath the fear. There is a presence beneath the confusion. Return there. Again and again. Not because the crisis is
Jeffrey Aylor:unreal. Not because the pain does not matter.
Jeffrey Aylor:Not because faith asks you to deny what is happening.
Jeffrey Aylor:Spiritual practice is not an escape from reality. It is a
Jeffrey Aylor:way of becoming deeply present to reality without allowing fear to become the only reality we can see. Crisis comes in many forms: Personal loss.
Jeffrey Aylor:Collective upheaval. Natural disaster. Injustice.
Jeffrey Aylor:Illness. Conflict, emotional collapse, uncertainty about what comes next. And when crisis comes, something very human happens. The nervous system seeks safety. The heart seeks comfort.
Jeffrey Aylor:The mind seeks certainty. We begin looking for something solid. Something we can trust. Something that will tell us we are going to be okay. Sometimes that certainty is simply not available.
Jeffrey Aylor:And this is where practice becomes sacred. Not because practice guarantees the outcome we want, but because practice helps us remain present when we do not know the outcome. It reminds us that peace is not always the absence of turmoil. Sometimes peace is the presence we discover within it. The storm may continue.
Jeffrey Aylor:And still we breathe. The answer may not yet come. And still, we pray. The grief may remain. And still, we love.
Jeffrey Aylor:The world may feel uncertain, and still, we choose our next faithful step. This is not spiritual bypassing. We are not using prayer to avoid pain. We are not using meditation to deny injustice. We are not repeating affirmations to convince ourselves that suffering is not real.
Jeffrey Aylor:We are learning how to remain present with what is, while refusing to surrender our entire consciousness to fear. There is an enormous difference. Fear can visit us without becoming our home. Grief can move through us without extinguishing love. Anger can reveal what matters without becoming hatred.
Jeffrey Aylor:Uncertainty can humble us without destroying our faith. Spiritual practice creates enough inner space for us to feel deeply and still choose consciously. One of the simplest practices available during crisis is the breath. When the mind races toward tomorrow, the breath brings us back to now. When fear tells us everything is happening at once, the breath gives us one moment, then another, Then another.
Jeffrey Aylor:If it feels comfortable for your body, you can inhale gently for a count of four. Pause. And exhale slowly for six. The longer exhale becomes an invitation to soften. And if counting or holding the breath does not feel comfortable, simply breathe naturally and slowly.
Jeffrey Aylor:There is nothing to force. The practice is presence. Another practice is stillness. Five minutes. Perhaps even one minute.
Jeffrey Aylor:Sit. Breathe.
Jeffrey Aylor:Feel your feet. Notice the chair beneath you. Notice the ground holding the chair. Let the world move without immediately moving with it. Stillness does not mean passivity.
Jeffrey Aylor:Sometimes stillness is what allows wise action to emerge instead of reaction. And sometimes the deepest spiritual practice in crisis is surrender. There are moments when we simply do not know what to do. Perhaps the most honest prayer is, I don't know what to do. I give this to you.
Jeffrey Aylor:There is no failure in that prayer. Surrender is not giving up. It is releasing the illusion that we must control everything before we can trust anything. Sometimes surrender creates enough space for the next step to reveal itself. Crisis also calls us toward compassion.
Jeffrey Aylor:People behave differently when they are frightened. Some become quiet. Some become angry. Some become controlling. Some withdraw.
Jeffrey Aylor:Some lash out. Fear exposes our wounds. This does not mean harmful behavior should be excused. Boundaries still matter. Truth still matters.
Jeffrey Aylor:Justice still matters. But whenever possible, compassion allows us to see more than the behavior. It asks, what pain might be underneath this? What fear is speaking? What does love require from me now?
Jeffrey Aylor:And when the mind becomes overwhelmed, return to the body. Feel your feet. Press them gently into the ground. Walk outside if you can. Touch the earth.
Jeffrey Aylor:Place your hand upon a tree. Feel the wind. Notice the sky. Let the body remember what the frightened mind has forgotten. You are here.
Jeffrey Aylor:Now. Breathing. Held by something larger than the story moving through your mind. Then ask, what small act of love is available to me in this moment?
Jeffrey Aylor:Not, how do I fix everything?
Jeffrey Aylor:But what can I do here? Bring someone water. Make the phone call. Hold a hand. Listen without trying to fix.
Jeffrey Aylor:Prepare a meal. Check on a neighbor. Offer shelter.
Jeffrey Aylor:Speak truth.
Jeffrey Aylor:Give what you can. Sit beside someone who should not have to sit alone. Small acts of gentle service become lighthouses during dark nights. And then there is gratitude. Gratitude in crisis does not mean being grateful for tragedy.
Jeffrey Aylor:It means refusing to allow tragedy to erase everything that is still sacred. Remind yourself even now what good remains as an anchor for your soul.
Jeffrey Aylor:A person you love. A breath.
Jeffrey Aylor:A memory. A helping hand. A sunrise. A place to rest. A glass of water.
Jeffrey Aylor:A prayer. Gratitude does not deny darkness. It helps the eyes remember light. And perhaps this is one of the deepest teachings of crisis. Do not look only at what is breaking.
Jeffrey Aylor:Look also for what is being born. Courage may be being born.
Jeffrey Aylor:Compassion may be being born. Community may be forming.
Jeffrey Aylor:Priorities may be clarifying. People who had forgotten one another may suddenly remember that they belong to each other. Crisis can reveal our shadows, but it can also reveal extraordinary light. You do not have to become the savior of the world. You are simply invited to become present enough that fear does not decide everything you do next.
Jeffrey Aylor:Be the breath that slows the room. Be the person who listens. Be the hand that helps. Be the voice that refuses hatred. Be the presence that reminds someone, we are still here.
Jeffrey Aylor:This is how light moves through crisis. Not always through dramatic acts. Often through steady people. People who return to love, again, and again, and again. Now let's enter a time of deep reflection.
Jeffrey Aylor:Think back to a difficult season you have already survived. What practice, person, belief, or inner strength helped you remain grounded when life felt uncertain? When crisis comes, what is my usual first response? Do I panic, control, withdraw, react, or become overwhelmed? How would I like to respond differently?
Jeffrey Aylor:What might it mean for me to become a spiritual anchor within my family, friendships, community or world? Not by having all the answers, but by bringing presence, compassion and steadiness. And finally, what truth can I hold when everything else feels uncertain? Perhaps your truth is, I am not alone. This moment will not last forever.
Jeffrey Aylor:I can breathe before I respond. Love is still available to me. God is here, too. You do not need a 100 truths in crisis. Sometimes you need one truth strong enough to hold onto until the next breath comes.
Jeffrey Aylor:Now let's enter a meditation practice together. Sit in a comfortable position with your spine straight. Your chin parallel to the floor. And your hands resting comfortably on your thighs. Close your eyes and begin to breathe slowly and deeply.
Jeffrey Aylor:Let your breath guide you inward. With your eyes closed, gently raise your gaze upward to the area between your eyebrows. This is the location of the spiritual eye or third eye. We are now going to do a breathing practice where we will inhale through our nose, tensing the entire body and clenching our fists. Now inhale slowly and tense.
Jeffrey Aylor:Hold. And then exhale slowly and release all the tension in your body. We will repeat this three times. Let's begin. Now inhale slowly and tense.
Jeffrey Aylor:Hold. And then exhale slowly and release all the tension in your body. Now inhale slowly and tense. Hold. And then exhale slowly and release all the tension in your body.
Jeffrey Aylor:Now inhale slowly and tense.
Jeffrey Aylor:Hold.
Jeffrey Aylor:And then exhale slowly and release all the tension in your body. This time, inhale slowly without tension. Hold. And then exhale slowly and let go of any residual tension you feel in your body. Now return to your natural breathing as we focus on the following visualization.
Jeffrey Aylor:Imagine yourself standing within a storm. The wind is moving around you. Dark clouds cross the sky. Rain falls. The world feels unsettled.
Jeffrey Aylor:You do not need to stop the storm. Simply notice that beneath your feet, the earth remains. Feel your feet becoming rooted into the ground. Imagine roots extending downward, through the floor, Through the soil. Deep into the earth.
Jeffrey Aylor:The wind moves, but your roots remain solid. The rain falls, but your roots remain grounded. The world turns, but there is a still point within you. Now imagine a small light glowing within the center of your chest. Soft, warm, steady.
Jeffrey Aylor:It does not need to overpower the darkness. It simply remains lit. With every inhale, become aware of this light. With every exhale, allow fear to loosen its grip. Breathe in, peace.
Jeffrey Aylor:Breathe out, fear. Breathe in presence. Breathe out the need to control everything. Breathe in, love. Breathe out what you cannot carry.
Jeffrey Aylor:Now imagine the light within your heart growing gently brighter. It fills your chest, your shoulders, your arms, your hands. It moves upward through your throat, your face, your mind, and downward through your body, your legs, your feet into the earth. You are rooted below, illuminated within. Now imagine someone you love who may be frightened, hurting, or uncertain.
Jeffrey Aylor:You do not need to fix them. You do not need to take away their pain. Simply imagine sitting beside them. Your calm presence says, you do not have to face this moment alone. Now allow that circle of light to widen.
Jeffrey Aylor:Your family, your friends, your community, people you have never met who are moving through storms of their own. Do not carry their suffering. Simply offer light. May you be held. May you find courage.
Jeffrey Aylor:May you receive what you need. May peace find you even here. Now bring your awareness back to your own heart. Ask quietly: What is mine to do? Not everything.
Jeffrey Aylor:Just the next loving thing. Listen. Perhaps the answer is to rest. Perhaps to call someone. Perhaps to help, perhaps to speak, perhaps simply to breathe and wait until clarity comes.
Jeffrey Aylor:Let the answer be simple. Now silently say, I do not have to become the storm. I can become presence within it. I do not need to know everything. I only need enough light for the next step.
Jeffrey Aylor:I am grounded. I am breathing. I am here. Remain for a few moments within this stillness. As we go deeper into silent meditation, Now, As you gently return, bring this steadiness with you.
Jeffrey Aylor:Not as an escape from the world, but as something you can carry back into it. Now let's enter an affirmation practice together. Let the following affirmations land gently inside you. Please repeat each one after me. Let's begin.
Jeffrey Aylor:I am grounded in peace even in the storm. My breath brings me back to the present moment. I can feel fear without surrendering my choices to it. I respond with presence rather than panic. I release what I cannot control and take one faithful step at a time.
Jeffrey Aylor:I can hold grief and still remain open to love. God is with me in every moment. I allow compassion to guide my response to suffering. My presence can become a source of steadiness for others. I choose love again and again.
Jeffrey Aylor:Even when I cannot see the whole path, I have enough light for the next step. I am rooted in the divine presence that holds all things. Now let's enter a time of communion with the divine. Please repeat after me. Divine shelter and refuge.
Jeffrey Aylor:You who are the I within every storm. Anchor me in you when the world feels lost. When I am afraid, let me breathe. When I am overwhelmed, let me rest. When I am called, let me rise with grace.
Jeffrey Aylor:Make me a vessel of peace. Not removed from the world's pain, but wholly present within it with love and patience. When I do not know what to do, teach me to surrender. When fear clouds my vision, return me to what is true. When anger rises, give me wisdom before I speak.
Jeffrey Aylor:When another is hurting. Give me compassion enough to remain present. Use my presence to steady others. Use my hands to serve. Use my light to guide the way.
Jeffrey Aylor:Use my voice to speak truth and love. Help me remember that I do not have to carry the whole world. I need only carry the love you ask me to bring into this moment. I am yours. Let me be your calm within the chaos.
Jeffrey Aylor:Om. Peace. Amen. I ask that you remember this. Your spiritual practice was never meant only for peaceful mornings.
Jeffrey Aylor:It was preparing you for this. For the uncertain day. The difficult conversation. The unexpected loss. The moment when fear arrives and asks to become your guide.
Jeffrey Aylor:This is when the breath matters. This is when stillness matters. This is when surrender matters. This is when love becomes practice rather than philosophy. The goal is not to become untouched by crisis.
Jeffrey Aylor:You are human. You
Jeffrey Aylor:will feel. You will grieve. You will sometimes be frightened.
Jeffrey Aylor:You may become angry. You may become tired.
Jeffrey Aylor:Peace does not require you to become numb. Peace asks you to remember that beneath every changing emotion there is a deeper place you can return to.
Jeffrey Aylor:Again. And again.
Jeffrey Aylor:The world may shake. Return. The news may frighten you. Return. Someone may disappoint you.
Jeffrey Aylor:Return. You may not know what comes next. Return. Return to the breath.
Jeffrey Aylor:Return to the body. Return to prayer. Return to love.
Jeffrey Aylor:Return to the sacred center within you. And then, return to the world. Because spiritual practice in crisis is not ultimately about retreating from life. It is about returning to life differently, More grounded. More conscious.
Jeffrey Aylor:More compassionate. More able to serve. Do not panic. Become presence. Do not add hatred to fear.
Jeffrey Aylor:Bring compassion. Do not believe you must fix everything. Do the loving thing that is yours to do. Do not look only at what is breaking. Look also for what is being born.
Jeffrey Aylor:For sometimes the darkest night reveals lights we could not see in daylight. A neighbor appears.
Jeffrey Aylor:A stranger helps. A family draws closer. A community gathers.
Jeffrey Aylor:A hand reaches through the darkness. And suddenly we remember. We belong to one another. Perhaps this is what it means to anchor heaven on earth in times of crisis. Not to create a world where storms never come, but to become people who know how to carry light through them.
Jeffrey Aylor:A steady breath, an open hand,
Jeffrey Aylor:a compassionate heart, a courageous voice, a faithful presence. This is how peace enters turmoil. This is how love enters fear. This is how light enters darkness. One grounded soul at a time.
Jeffrey Aylor:Thank you for walking this sacred path. Until next time. Breathe deeply. Stand gently. Serve lovingly.
