Good morning and

welcome to Morning Syria.

Okay, good morning and welcome to Monday.

I hope you all had a great weekend,

all rested and ready to

hit this week head on.

Well, if Mondays had a

personality, which a lot of them do,

today would be the one

that wakes up grumpy,

but secretly wants a hug.

And that's perfect for today

because today is do a

grouch a favor day, all right?

So if someone's giving you

the side eye before coffee,

congratulations, you've

identified today is their holiday.

Well, the answer to

Friday's trivia question

was Dr. Pepper.

Dr. Pepper was introduced

first in the United States

before Coca-Cola, Pepsi-Cola and Squirt.

All right, well, it's time

for the essential vitamins

in your morning cereal, today's quote.

And it's from birthday

boy turning 36 years old

the weekend who said, quote,

"Be loyal to your own

peace of mind," end quote.

Look, I am all for

supporting people prioritizing

their mental and emotional wellbeing.

Protecting your inner

peace, it's not selfish,

but it's a vital aspect

of self-care and respect.

All right, well, let's go ahead and hear

from the experts now.

It's time to pour in some

Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins.

And today's focus is the

commitment conversation.

And this chapter, it gets real fast.

Robbins tackles one of the most

uncomfortable truths

in adult relationships.

Many of us are exhausted,

not because we're asking too much,

but because we're

avoiding the conversations

that would clarify everything.

She explains that

commitment isn't about pressure

or ultimatums, it's about honesty.

According to Robbins, quote,

"Commitment conversations

aren't about controlling

the outcome, they're about

respecting your own time,

energy, and future," end quote.

Now that line hits because most of us

would rather sit in

confusion rather than risk rejection.

Now, Robbins points out here

how people stay stuck in situationships,

half relationships, and emotional limbo

because they're waiting for someone else

to define the rules.

But clarity doesn't magically arrive,

it has to be invited.

And she reminds us that when you avoid

commitment conversations,

you're actually

committing to uncertainty.

And uncertainty

quietly drains confidence,

joy, and momentum.

As she puts it, quote,

"If you don't speak up for what you want,

you silently agree to

what you get," end quote.

This chapter also

reframes rejection, right?

Robbins argues that

when someone can't meet you

where you are, again,

that's not a failure,

it's information.

And information, it sets you free.

She writes, quote,

"The right people don't

get scared by clarity,

they're relieved by it," end quote.

So this applies far

beyond romantic relationships.

It applies to work, to

friendships, to family dynamics.

Anywhere expectations are fuzzy

and resentment is brewing,

commitment

conversations are simple boundaries

spoken out loud.

So Mel emphasizes that these talks,

they don't need drama,

they don't need

scripts or perfect timing,

they need courage and calm.

Not convincing, no chasing people down,

just honesty, and then letting people

show you who they are.

All right, here is your Monday takeaway.

Clarity is kindness and

commitment conversations

are how you stop negotiating

against your own happiness.

So today, do a grouch a favor,

even if that includes yourself at times,

by choosing honesty

over guessing game, right?

Now get out there and attack

your Monday with intention.

But first, the prize from

the bottom of the cereal box,

the morning cereal

trivia question of the day.

Here it is, how many

kilometers are in a mile?

All right, hey, thanks for listening to
