What is Type B Knitting?

Type B Knitting is a weekly knitting podcast for the Type B crafter. Sisters Veronica and Gosia chat about WIPs, yarn, test knits and the knitting projects that don't go as planned, because knitting is a journey, not about the finished garment. New episodes every Tuesday.

Hello! Welcome back to Type B Knitting, the podcast with two sisters who like to yap about knitting. We're, oh, it's not this, it's the second one back, but we're back. We are back. We're officially back. I was gonna say we're back, baby, but like at this point, this is the second episode back. Guess what? We're back, I guess. So we're back a week later this time instead of like a month. In case you thought we weren't gonna come back next week. Look at that, we're back. We are here, we did Knick It. I'm one of the sisters, Gosia, and I'm Veronica. And I don't know what we're doing today because Gosia is keeping it a secret. I think I told you about this idea, but I thought it'd be really funny. I came up with this bit. Veronica, we're being audited.

We're being audited by the IRS. This podcast right now is being audited by the IRS, the Internal Resolutions Service. They went back and they saw our New Year's resolutions. It's been six months. We're fucked. I'm going to jail, y'all. And checking in on those resolutions. Oh no. Oh no. Okay. Listening back to that episode, which I think was like episode two or something. That's crazy. I was like, I barely made resolutions. And even those? Zero. Spoiler. Spoiler. Spoiler. Spoiler, not looking good. I think one of mine was to, it wasn't to consistently gauge swatch, but it was to gauge swatch. And I want to say that, it's not on your list. I don't see it on my list. I think you're good. I think it was like, maybe that was just an internal resolution I made to myself, but I did do that once.

You did do that once. Yeah. So I can't say something. Actually, did I do that this year? I think I did. Yeah, I did. I did with that like ribbed sweater. You did. But you, you gave swatch and stuck in it when it's like, you have to gauge swatch in the cable to know how much. Yeah, but I didn't specify about the stock or I didn't specify about the swatch and also it's not on your list. So I'm not guilty on that charge. Very true. How do you think, what do you think is on this list? I legitimately don't even know. I think it is a test net on there. No, I think we weren't dreaming that day. There's no way anyone will pick us. I legitimately don't even know what any, I can't even guess. I can't even begin to guess. Like maybe it's like stash bust. You'll feel, you'll feel your list pretty good. Really? Audited wise, I think you're in the quiz. Oh my god. I'm a free man.

What about yours? Mine's bad. Oh, really? Yes. Okay. Too ambitious. Very ambitious. I think just like, when it comes to like, am I in a very like project place of like, okay, let me kind of say one. I already know. I feel like I already know about one and that is a fail. You're going to jail. Oh, yeah, jail, jail time. You deserve jail time. That was before the new year even started before 2026 started. I was like, you know what, there's one project with my needles. I'm definitely going to finish it. I'm going to say, you know, that's what happens. No, ma'am, six, seven, eight months into this year. And yeah, I've not even touched it. I know, but the year's not over.

This is true. Um, yeah, and I think I'm gonna don't make promises you can't keep don't say you're gonna finish it this year. I don't think I can finish it. But then it counts for bingo. Yeah, I know. So one of my resolutions was that I had to finish this mo hair rabbit card. I talked about this so many times. And that's the only thing this somewhat exists only because I talk about it. Its spirit is kept alive in this podcast and nowhere else because you haven't touched it. By Burton rose, I started this mo hair Zosha rap cardigan. It's literally two holding two strands of mo hair. I finished the bodice. And I have to finish like, it has like two straps, I guess you can like wraps around your body. And then is long enough to tie in the front.

And then I have sleeves. But the problem is I ran out of yarn. Like I know I don't have enough yarn for it. Yo, so you haven't even ran out of yarn yet. You just know you don't have enough to finish it because I just need it and then order some Oh, it's two millimeter needles. Oh my god, I'm just kidding. I think it's four. Oh, okay. Let's stop whining about it. It's not that bad. It's literally like it's the tiniest and it's like a pattern too. So it's not just stuck in it. Okay, yeah, that does suck. It's like it's fancy. Like it looks really nice. But I might instead of doing long sleeve, I might do like a puff bell sleeve for it.

I think that'd be cute. And then I don't want to buy so much yarn, because I only have two balls of yarn left. I didn't finish one of the straps around. And I have to do the sleeves. So I was like, I might need to buy I want to mention this was supposed to be for Gosh's wedding. And Gosh has been married for I think three years. So it's been in the works for a long time. She's begging to be done. She's begging to be done or put down. I am not undoing bow hair. Oh, yeah, I know. I think I put like eight balls of yarn into this thing. Oh, that sucks. And you want me to undo no, I mean, like put her down, like just toss compost. Yeah, at this point, send her to the farm in the sky. And she'll live a better life somewhere else. Yeah.

Maybe once I finished the project, I'm not now. I'll get back to it just so I can finish up. Yeah, just so I can be done. Well, so far my list not looking great. That's rough. But you're gonna be done with your project this week, right? You have to be done with that. So job job job job. Get to it. Is that even the next day? I mean, I'm assuming that's not the next thing you want to work on. It's not what I want to work on. It might have to be what I have to work on. Yeah, cuz you got a bingo square. I got a bingo square because then I'll be down to zero lips. And I can only do one whip for a month. And then that's a different bingo, which you got done at the beginning of the year. I told you you had I was like banging it on the beginning of the year because I'm like, there's no way I'm gonna do it. Like, no, while you have the motivation for it. Yeah. If I had to do that now, I only have like, no, I have three technically, I have three whips because the social cardigan, the sleeves are uneven. So I have to redo one of the cuffs, but I have to do it in DPNs. And I'm like, I'm not doing that, which is exactly the reason I haven't finished my scrappy cardigan because I'm like, she's literally done. That's why I haven't finished my scrappy cardigan because I'm doing cuffs and DPNs right now.

And I'm like, I don't want to do it. Oh, yeah, they're fun. It's like in TARJA. Like it's fun for like two seconds. And then when you have to do too much of it, you're like, I don't want to do this. Clearly preaching to the choir. I'm so over in TARJA right now. That's why I don't like I would love to make that like goose. Like it's like a knitted goose, like a stuffed goose. It's so it's like so cute, but I know I would have to do it in DPNs. I'm like, no, I know what you're talking about. Yeah, I know myself. I'm not going to do that. I know myself too. And yet I choose to torture myself. But that's okay. When I want something in the final result I want.

Anyway, on your list, what you had was one of your resolutions was fixing your twisted stitches. I did do that. Yeah, I did do that. The next one learn continental knitting. Oh, I haven't done that. I haven't done that. No interest. Not even for one. No, I don't see a I don't see a reason to do that. Personally, I feel at this point, you've knitted like how long and like gotten so you like you've gotten fast in your method that like maybe it's not even worth. It's not. I'm telling you right now. I don't think it's like worth I don't think yeah, I think you're right. Because like I wouldn't speed up my knitting at all. And I'm already comfortable, like doing English. So like, yeah, it doesn't even like matter. No, you know, yeah. Something I had on here was knit a dress.

Girl, who am I girl? No, that's I mean, it would kind of be fun if you're knitting it in the round. It would have to be in the round anything else. I oh my god, knitting a dress flat. Oh, my god. Those pearls miss me with that. No, I feel like that would be no I feel like just doing the tube would we just be so much easier. I really have a pattern picked out. I think it's easy as net or something. I think I'm pretty sure it's called evening dress. And I think that's the one I also shouted out in that episode. It's literally just like making a raglan sweater, but you just keep going. Yeah, like that sounds like fun and like easy, especially if it's like stock net. I was it was fun about doing like sweater vests is like once you're at the bottom, you're done. Just make the edges really nice. And then yeah, but like what the dress is like, hopefully not a maxi. Oh my god, even a midi, because you have to just go so long. I feel like I won't put you just get so like tired of it. No, it's I feel like going in the round something about going stock net in the round with metal needles makes like inches itches my brain. I'm like, I love this. It's so fun to me. I don't know. And then you hear like the metal like clinking against these are like ASMR. It's like, yes, there were those really expensive needles that I bought for a certain size. And yeah, they were metal tipped. And it was really nice. It felt so good. So sex. Yeah, very much splurge. But yeah, weren't they like $30 for one set?

$30 for one set. I think it was like 20 or something. But even then it's like, that's that's so much only two sticks that go on your cables. Like what size are there at least like a size you're going to reuse probably another probably 2.75 millimeters. Honestly, maybe there were three or they were Oh my god, it's not even on the I would buy them in like five millimeter or like four millimeters. I know like an upgrade, you know, like it'd be nice. For our birthdays, we should buy each other like one like four and a half or five and a half millimeter like nice set of needles. We'll have to see which gauge we touch away the most in because then you would get the most use out of that. I think I do like four or four and a half because like all the patterns that I do are worsted, but my gauge is like too loose. So I have to do like a smaller needle size to get hit gauge, which even then I'm probably not hit engage. But like, who cares?

Do I care about if I hit gauge? No. Do I care if I can wear the final product? No. Also, no. Also, no. Yeah, literally. I'm like, no, I don't care about that. You don't literally do not give up about that. It's the journey. It's the journey. That's the like motto of the podcast is like, it's the journey. And this is all the journey. I would love to count how many things I've made that are actually like wearable. Because the the answer's got to be like three. It's a single number. I know that for sure. I'm not a double digits. I'm gonna guess that like, you have to define the word wearable. Can you put it on your body? Is it flattering to your body? Is it what you were hoping for? No. I legitimately think that like things that actually fit that I like, I think like three of them. Like I'm not even joking. And it's not even things that are like the most complicated things I've ever made. Like there's all they're all like simple, the simple things that you did make that fit. That's okay. I legitimately think there's only I can only think of two right now, but I'm giving myself grace and adding one to that number just to be like, I could wear it. I think everything I've made that I like is like oversized. So I'm kind of like I don't have to worry about it. Yeah, that's fair. Just my style. I just like that it doesn't fit. I'm not even brave enough to like try knitting like a fitted t shirt or a tank top because I know I would screw it up. I've fitted I have one fitted thing and it's a sweater vest, some twisted sweater vest something from Toby, it was a free pattern. But it was a gauge I've already worked in. It was that green yarn. So I was speaking of I brought it back for you. I brought your two balls that you give me back. Why did you think I did this? Because I'm trying to cut down my stash by giving your steps to me. No, you gave me two balls and I'm giving them back to you. It's hot potato. Yeah, it's hot potato. I can keep them I can make something out of because we don't want this yard. I think between maybe between the two of us we have like, like so many balls. Yeah, I think it's like gotta be like 20. Yeah, and then just like multiply. Yeah, I don't know. I have two garments in that like I don't know what I would do with the green. Oh, I only have one so maybe I should take them from you and make something out of it. I don't know when you make but make something because the one the thing that I made I don't wear, because it's itchy. But yeah, it's not itchy. No, no, the Sandiskarn one. Yeah, it is a little itchy. Oh, I didn't take it. Oh, really? Yeah, I have it in a sweater vest and a sweater. Oh, okay. Anyway, anyway, moving on. Okay, moving on to these resolutions. One resolution you put down was not buying just one scheme that if you're buying yarn, you're buying with the intention for a project, not necessarily just buying like one off things, which I think has been the theme of this year. Yes. I haven't bought anything like one scheme. No, I don't think yeah. Yeah. Because like the only things that I would have done that as is like at the like fiber festivals that we went to. And I didn't do that.

But I did buy mohair that I'm not finishing that project. But you had a project in mind. I did have a project in mind. So literally, I think you're in the clear. I think with some lawyer involvement, I think I would be able to pass that pass the IRS and they would not send me to jail. You're for real, like we're just adding years onto your sentence. I think. Yeah, like literally, like you're going to jail. It's just how long money and I'm going. Yeah, you literally owe money and going to jail. Yeah. Well, okay, there's one on my list, which was make more sweater vests. I did make that self drafted sweater vest and like cream yarn that I had. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. So that's one. That's one of my books. That's one more than you had before. And that's the only one from my 123 out of my floor. That's one out of your one to three out of your four. I think just one the continental knitting. Oh, we're like opposites.

A side note. Have you been seeing the garment? Oh my god. Yeah, it's so crazy. It's so funny. And like the description for it. It's like let it in gold beer or something. I love that. I love everything about it that I almost want to make it for what I don't know. It's just just for giggles just to like okay, so this what were we talking about the resolutions? You're doing pretty good. Um, I had a note for a bottom up construction. Oh, literally what? Why? I don't know. Maybe it's me. I do want to remake that scapula as a sweater. Everyone say it with me. The shark sweater. Yes, we know we're very aware and made two of them. Both of them don't think OSHA has one of them.

The other one is just locked away at this point. It's a mascot. It really is the mascot. It's so cute. But I think I just need to find the right gauge and also figure out how to do it top down and also do a different yarn. So really just rework the whole thing. Go off of just a picture and just subtract it or something. No, that would be crazy. Well, I already have the charts though. So you're literally just so I could literally just use the charts and like, do that it that way. Because why are we guys as a society, can we please let bottom up construction die? I really hate it. I know. I get it for tank tops. Everything else Yeah, tank tops is like, sure. Because I'm, I'm okay with it being on tank jacks because I'm never going to knit a tank top. So I'm like, okay, that's fine. You can own this. Yeah, tank tops can own that. But I'm like, dude, for a sweater. Like why? Why are you making it? Is it just because like people don't like the way that a raglan looks. But the thing is like you can make a saddle shoulder top down. I've done that with a card with a saddle shoulder.

Saddle shoulder is like a square. There's like a square here and it's almost like seamless. It's almost like more seamless. Oh, my cardigan number nine from my favorite things knitwear is a saddle shoulder and it's really nice. It's not like a cup. No, it's like, I'll show you a picture. They're really nice. They are really nice images. I've done a lot of drop shoulder. I feel like that's really good. Oh, that's cute. Okay. Yeah. Now I see there's like, so like, if you don't like how raglan looks, like I can understand doing like a saddle shoulder and I don't, I've never made anything like bottom up. So maybe for like a, I've only ever done cardigans in saddle shoulder. So like maybe you have to do a bottom up, but I'm like, whenever I'm making a cardigan, it's top down and I can still do saddle shoulder.

I don't know enough. I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. It's weird. But yeah, I don't know. I hate, I'm not making a bottle of a sweater. I don't know. Maybe that wasn't something you're leaving behind. Well, then that's two of my resolutions that I'm not doing. Oh, maybe it is something I'm leaving behind. It might be something of like, you're never doing this in the next year or something. Maybe. I don't know. Guys, correct us in the comments because we're too lazy to do it ourselves. Did I leave myself good enough notes for this? No. Why would I? No. And you know what? It was so long ago. No one's going to remember.

Just the IRS. Yeah, just the IRS. The IRS is fact checking us. We are not. The last one I have, the last one I have is for me, is to try cables. I still have not tried cables. Cables are so fun. They seem really fun. They're so fun. Yeah. They're so fun. They seem really fun. I really want to. But I think just like, I think no matter how much planning you put into the next year and like planning into whatever projects, you're still going to end up doing something else. Like, I don't think either of us expected to be part of testing it, which was so cool. But because you don't plan for it, you weren't expecting to make it in like what, I was just going to test it like a cable, right? Thinking of these resolutions.

Yeah, that's fair. I mean, the next one I want to make is a cable sweater. So that is still on the top of my list. So what projects do you have going on right now and then plan? So right now I have my scrappy sweater. I'm on double sleeve island because again, it is a scrappy sweater. So I wanted to make sure that I had enough yarn for like the pattern that I'm doing because I'm doing it the same on both arms. So you're switching sleeves. So you're doing a little bit on one sleeve and then switching to the other sleeve. I did that. So like I made the right sleeve first. And then like once I started running out of the yarn, like completely, I like stopped at a place where I'm like, okay, this might be concerning. So then I started the second one to kind of make sure I had enough to like mimic it. And then now I'm doing the cuff on one, haven't finished that. It's probably been on the cuff for like, I want to say like three weeks. I honestly have not touched it since like, I think July. And then I have to just finish the rest of the arm. Like, so I have like half of the arm left and cuff on the left one. So it's like, I'm legitimately like almost done with this.

And then like I just dude, somewhere I just like don't want to know. I almost am excited that summer's over because like the knitting. Yeah, summer is just so difficult. It is. I just I hate it. There's just like too much to be doing too many naps to be taking. So many like, like out being outside like I just like I'm like outside napping. I'm being outside napping, napping outside. I'm just like, I don't have I just don't want to just don't want to just too busy. And it's yeah, I had to like squeeze in anytime I could. And now I'm just dragging myself through the deadlines. Or it's like, I literally dropped everything like, you know, no workouts, no after school activities. Yeah. And like focus is to get this done. So how much do you have left if you're testing it? Oh, maybe I have to finish the front and Tarja finish off the bottom together and do the sleeves both. That's just stock that's just stuck in just one color.

I'm finding that like I have only this much in Tarja for the bottom half of it and it's going really bad. Okay, what took me 40 minutes one row because I had to switch out all the colors. Now it's taking five 10 minutes across. Let's go. Sorry. If you didn't say bless you, you have to give us five stars. Well, no, we feel blessed. Yeah. I want whoever didn't say bless you, give us five stars and say bless you. And then I'll forgive you. Yeah, so that's where we're at with our news. Can she do it? Yes. Oh, well, there was a it took me a month and a half to do the back in Tarja. And then it took a weekend, Saturday, Sunday, not even the whole day to do the bottom and then start on the like both shoulders to then start the next like in charge of the entire she just takes really, really long literally you can get sleeves done in like a day. You just need like four hours. So I'm saying I'm locking myself in my room and that's all I'm doing. So you're not working out. So I know you're not working out this week. No, I have you got happy. I have to get this on and then do a little mini photo shoot and get it.

Oh, yeah. So but that was that was our resolutions. We're not doing too bad. Yeah. I mean more than halfway. That's that that's been taping knitting. Those are are a little bit we're at the end of q3 getting into q4. So we got some work to do. Yeah, we got some work to do. But I feel like with fall and like when you're coming that is like knitting season. So I think there'll be some exciting things coming up and to see those exciting things and what's the Haps go on our Instagram type B knitting pod. We try to update it and add things here and there. We were just a little break. So ignore that stint. And we're back. We're back baby. We're back. Yeah, clocking in clocking in for the shift back to school back to knitting. That's right. That's right. It's back to school season. And we're back. Well, thanks for listening to this episode. I'm gosia and i'm bronca and catch you on the next one. Bye.
