Edna Harding [00:00:03]:
Welcome to Estrepreneur, a podcast for entrepreneurs and leaders doing business and life God's way. Each week we discuss biblical and practical tips to improve your mind, business, spirit, relationships and finances. Listen along as I speak with special guests on how to thrive in all aspects of life. Hi, I'm Edna. Like many of you, I wear many hats. I'm a military wife, mother, author, certified John Maxwell business and executive coach, trainer, and founder of Favor and wealth, where we help the good guys win. So tune in as we bring on the light. Well, hello everyone.
Edna Harding [00:00:47]:
Thank you for tuning in for another episode of the estherpreneur podcast. In today's episode, we are going to be talking about the four or five. So four or five. Four mindsets of change agents that shift business environments. Four mindsets of shape change agents. Oh, my goodness. That shift business environment. So if you guys are new here, welcome to the Estrepreneur podcast.
Edna Harding [00:01:17]:
In this podcast, we all talk about. We talk all about business and life, God's way. My goodness, what is happening to my tongue? In the mighty name of Jesus. Okay, and so this podcast, we are going to spill the beans, right? Spill the tea when it comes to strategies from the Bible, when it comes to your business. And today we're going to talk about you. Yes, you. Okay. Because you yourself can transform your workplace, your business, and yes, even your industry by shifting one thing, and that is your mindset.
Edna Harding [00:01:55]:
So if you guys are ready, let's go ahead and begin. All right, so let's talk about the boardroom shift. Okay. Have you ever been to a boardroom or a meeting and. Or employee team meeting or an employer team meeting, and you could feel that the air was thick because everyone was blaming everyone. So CEO with marketing. Marketing. Blaming marketing.
Edna Harding [00:02:28]:
Sales is blaming operations or customer service. Right. And then you also have everyone was like just pointing the fingers, no one taking ownership. Okay, but what happens if you have one person, not necessarily the highest paid person, not necessarily the smartest person, not with the title, but had a mindset and that was different from everyone and was able to calm people's down. Okay. I remember there was this guy. I know, I think it's Bruce. Bruce Nolte.
Edna Harding [00:03:05]:
Bruce Nolte. This is a logistics company. And he would be like the calm in the storm. Like you have people cussing at each other, yelling at each other. Yes, I worked in logistics. There was a lot of cussing involved. And just, just it did bad, like stressful environment. And he would be like the calmer.
Edna Harding [00:03:23]:
He would just say something and everyone would Calm down. He was very. Such a nice gentleman. I remember he sits in a corner and he was that guy. Okay? He was that guy. And you know, we ourselves, as believers, we should be able to calm things down whenever there's a lot of chaos, whenever there's a lot of challenges. We should be able to shift these toxic business environments without needing any permission, without having the title or the position, without being given power. But just by our words, people should be able to feel that something is different in the atmosphere because you opened your mouth.
Edna Harding [00:04:05]:
Okay, so the, the four mindsets that we're going to talk about is, the first one is, I'm here on purpose. Okay? I'm here on purpose. This is the assignment mindset. You're not there by accident. You're not in your business by accident. You didn't start the business by accident. You are not a partner by accident. You are not an employ employee or a leader of that business by accident.
Edna Harding [00:04:29]:
You're there on a divine assignment. And that job, that client or team may feel draining at that time, but remember that God strategically placed you there, okay? So regardless of where you're at, first and foremost, regardless of the environment, God put you there for some reason. Okay? And one thing that I do have to say is, you know, sometimes I look back at my career and sometimes I wonder like, should I have left or should I have stayed? And I will never know really the answer if I should have stayed or if I should have left. But I believe that because I was so immature back then, I probably could have worked something out or stayed in an environment longer, but there was. It was just so toxic. And that's the thing. Holy Spirit, I'm having this conversation with the Holy Spirit in front of you. Like, it was such a toxic environment.
Edna Harding [00:05:24]:
I was, was just so miserable. I don't know, maybe if I prayed, things could have shifted. In fact, I know probably, but I just didn't have the patience. But anyway, long story short, I left those toxic environment. But what would have happened if maybe God sent me there for some reason to change the environment, and I left because I didn't know how to shift it. Now, how do you shift it? Well, you shift it by prayer. So the first thing that, that my suggestion is when you go to work, whether you go to your business, when you go, you know, whatever, start each workday with the declaration from, from the Lord saying, I'm here on purpose. Then you want to ask God, what do you want to do here through me today? Okay, what do you want me to do? I do ask that I always tell the Lord to use me whenever I go to a networking event, whenever I'm speaking to clients, I always ask the Lord to use me that day.
Edna Harding [00:06:24]:
So, again, mindset number one is you have a purpose in that particular location or that particular environment. The mindset number two is I carry the solution. This is the kingdom resource mindset. So instead of waiting for someone to fix something or you need to, like, bring peace, you need to bring wisdom, you need to bring clarity into chaotic things. You need to carry answers and not just opinions. You actually need to be the solution bearer. Because have you ever worked with someone who just never. Who like, never gossip, always had a calm word, somehow brought clarity during every meeting? Yes.
Edna Harding [00:07:03]:
You want to be that person. That is what you call a kingdom carrier. That's someone who doesn't critique but actually contributes. So you don't want to be part of the problem. You want to be part of the solution. Have you guys heard that before? That's exactly what that is. You have to come in a mindset that I have the resources I need to solve this problem. So I want you to look at your current business environment.
Edna Harding [00:07:23]:
I want you to ask yourself what is a common complaint that people have with that specific environment? And what resource that you carry that actually meets that need. Because a lot of times, if you dig deep enough, you'll find that what they're looking for is what you have. And then what you do is once you identify what that is, then you release it. Maybe it's encouragement, maybe it's order, maybe it's innovation, or maybe it's just a calm presence, but you have to release it. Okay, so that's a great way for you to shift the environment is ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom. What can I do to change this toxic environment? And then you release it based on revelation number three, I influence through serving. This is what I call a servant leadership mindset. This is not just about title.
Edna Harding [00:08:14]:
It's about making others successful. So one thing you need to do is anticipate needs. You need to handle problems before they hit leadership's radar, right? You need to think about your employees. Like. Like, what would they love? What would they enjoy? Because eventually they, you know, you, you the. If you value them and you serve them, they're going to serve you. And so when I say by that they're going to look out for you because you have been nothing but kind and generous to them. You know, like attracts like, right? So if you are patient with them, they're going to Be patient with you.
Edna Harding [00:08:51]:
Like, what you sow is what you reap. It's like, thank you, Holy spirit. Like, what am I saying? What you sow is what you reap. So I want you to ask yourself, how can I make someone else's job easier this week? Right. How can I make some my team members job easier this week? What problem can I solve that isn't my job? Right. Service attracts influence. Add value, and you'll be invited into bigger rooms. Pretty simple, pretty straightforward.
Edna Harding [00:09:16]:
Service will attract influence, add value, and you'll be invited into bigger rooms. This happens to me over and over again. I am constantly invited to rooms that I definitely do not belong. But because I serve so well, meaning serve my gifts so well, I. My gifts make room for me. Does that make sense? And number four, plan for the future. This is what I call the legacy mindset. Change agents do not think just about today's wins.
Edna Harding [00:09:46]:
They think generationally. So what do we do? We build systems, we invest in people, and we document wisdom so that it lasts beyond them. So if anything happens to Edna Harding, my team can handle it. They know what I expect, they're clear on my expectations, and they can run the business without me. This is when you bring the rock. Build the rocket face. So what I want you to do today is I want you to mentor one person who can't benefit from you, but can't, sorry, can't benefit you. And then just invest in their future.
Edna Harding [00:10:22]:
Just give back. Sew into people's lives. That's what I love doing. Write down one process you've learned the way the. The hard way. And share it. Right? Share it. And then choose values, not just strategies, and build your brand or team.
Edna Harding [00:10:42]:
Okay. Build your brand or team. All right. Okay. So as we wrap up this, I just want to make sure I follow that. Yeah, the goes very. Values. Who wants me to say values.
Edna Harding [00:11:00]:
You need to be very clear in your values, and you need to make sure your team is very clear on your values. Because there is something that, like, I'm very open. And it's not so much that they have to believe in the God that I serve, but they have to believe in the values that I expect. Right? They have to. What's it called? Exemplify those values in our daily lives. Okay. Because what happens is when you start living these mindsets and these values daily, you'll stop reacting and you'll start responding, you know, with authority that you are. You'll.
Edna Harding [00:11:35]:
You people begin to ask you for perspective, for your perspective. Environments will shift because now you're, you know, you're different. People will know if you know your stuff by your level of confidence in who you are and what you bring to the table. So, again, I just want to remind you, you are here on assignment. You carry solutions. You lead by serving. And most importantly, you're planting legacy or you're planting eternal impact or future impact. Right? So my challenge to you this week is pick one of these mindsets and live it out daily.
Edna Harding [00:12:13]:
