Hello guys, welcome to tea from the Galaxy with Angel Fish Astro, a thirst quenching podcast for the girls gaze days and astrology base where we talk about anything and everything through an astrological lens. So on this week's episode I take you guys with me to Wilton Manners Pride twenty twenty five. This is my first Wilton Manors Pride. So come with me. I interview a whole bunch of people, whole bunch of beautiful people that I ran into.
Serena:It was such a beautiful event. The turnout was amazing. If you guys don't know Wilson Manors, it's the gay town right outside Fort Lauderdale and the whole town just shut down. And this is why I love pride. Just seeing everyone embrace who they truly are.
Serena:You don't even have to be a part of the LGBT community. One couple took me in the girl was bisexual, but the boyfriend was a sis man, sis straight man. And he was just telling me how much he loves going to prides Pride events. He grew up going to Pride events because he just loves seeing people embrace who they truly are. It's an open environment.
Serena:It's fun. It's just celebrating life and celebrating love. And that is why I love pride as well. You do not have to be a part of the community per se. You can be a really nice ally to enjoy this event.
Serena:It's truly just embracing yourself, embracing life. Before I move into showing you guys the interviews that I took. I want to talk about some real life should really quick so. It sucks that we live in times I was actually scared of participating in this pride. I have been going to pride events since 2021.
Serena:This was the most scared I felt. Just the climate of times that we're in right now. I live in Florida. It's a red state. Wilton Manor's Fort Lauderdale, I feel like is the blue dot in the red state.
Serena:And when you're a blue dot surrounding all red, it's a little scary. You don't know what kind of person is going to try and come in and ruin that, right? There's crazy people who just hate seeing people just be themselves and love like I really can't explain it why people truly feel that way. And I was so scared to go to this pride to the point that I wasn't going to go because I feel like this country goes through waves of division, right? But I feel like it's very prevalent and in your face, the division, and not even in your face, but like it's aggressive, and it's angry, and it's dangerous.
Serena:And you just never know how people are going to react and what kind of crazy people are just going to come. There was someone who walked into the parade. It was a 31 year old man. And he came into Wilson Manor's Pride with loaded weapons. And he came at the start of the parade.
Serena:The parade started at 8PM. Seemed like he had a vendetta. The man is arrested. He was caught. Thankfully, Wilson Manor's Pride, the security and the law enforcement that was protecting us during this parade.
Serena:And this pride event was on point. I truly am so grateful and thankful for it. And it didn't make me feel safe walking around there, and seeing all the security. And there was metal detectors on the perimeters of the parade and the pride event. You cannot walk into this pride event without going through a metal detector.
Serena:And it sucks that that's how it had to be. But that's just how it has to be right now. Thankfully, this man was caught. He was trespassing. He walked through the metal detectors and the metal detectors were going off.
Serena:He was not listening to law enforcement when they were trying to stop him. Thankfully, they stopped him. They caught him and he's now arrested. I'm very grateful for that because that could have went very South very quickly. And I do just want to say always be aware of your surroundings.
Serena:Pride is such a fun event, but sometimes we can get caught up with the drinking too much. Always be aware of your surroundings and look out for one another and be aware of anyone who's giving off energy. This is just why we continuously need pride. People who are always like, you know, oh, there's waving around the rainbow flags in our face and they're just throwing it in our face and you know, you don't need to be out there about it. Know that we do though, because there's people wanting to kill people because of who they love strictly off of that.
Serena:That blows my mind. I cannot fathom it. I is literally all about being proud of who you are, who you love, being proud of love, embracing your true identity and just embracing yourself life and love. If you have a problem with that, you need to go to therapy, you need to get fucked or go eat a cookie, go eat a Snickers. You're not you when you're hungry.
Serena:I don't know why it affects people so much. And I don't care what anyone says. Love always wins. Love conquers all. You will not get anywhere moving with hate, moving with hatred in your heart.
Serena:You're just going to be a miserable person. We're going to continue being loud and proud. If you don't like it, go somewhere else. That's crazy. Pride isn't about.
Serena:We want everyone to be gay. It's about be proud of who you are. Point blank period. What's the problem? Can't wait until we get to a point in this country where people feel like they don't have to come out where people don't live in fear of who they love, where couples feel like they can't hold hands in public in some places.
Serena:I hope I see that in my lifetime, but we really need to continue fighting for it so we can see it in our lifetime. Our future children and grandchildren can just live and be free. Isn't that what this country is about freedom? Being free, isn't it? I don't know.
Serena:Did I not learn something correctly and in school growing up? Isn't this the land of the free? Bitches out here trying to be free and all of a sudden, oh, that's too free. That's too free. Why?
Serena:Because I love women and I'm a woman. Because that man loves another man. Why does it make you feel so uncomfortable? Do you like men? Oh, no.
Serena:Oh, no. You must be like a man then that makes you feel so uncomfortable. It makes you feel away. Because no straight people in my life feels that heavy, feels that strongly or is that irritated by seeing two gay people or two lesbians out in public? Oh, no, that's just mean.
Serena:Thankfully, I am very thankful and grateful that nothing happened. And it was a beautiful event, like, literally so, especially being in a red state too. And I'm originally from New Jersey and moving down to Florida and some people, gay, lesbian people up north were kind of felt iffy about me moving down to Florida because of just the political climate that is down here. And it was just so beautiful to see that regardless of, you know, being in a state that really looks down upon us, I feel like that we can all come together and really fight for our rights. And there's so many of us too.
Serena:And it's really power of the people. And when we all come together, it really is a movement. And sometimes it can be disheartening feeling like a little drop in the ocean and how could we make waves? But being at this event and seeing all the people who popped out just really made me realize that we are not a drop in the ocean. We are a fricking tsunami and we have to just continue coming together and fighting for our rights.
Serena:And it's nice to party and all that. But I feel like there needs to be a lot more than just coming together and partying. Pride is a celebration. But it was really eye opening to see all the people coming together. And I had a thought in my mind like if we all came together like this all the time and like fighting for our rights and having our voices being heard, we could really make some waves and a lot of changes.
Serena:The people in our community is living in a lot of fear right now of it being stripped away. Gay, lesbian, trans people especially. And I think we need to just continue coming together and making change. So yeah, that's enough of me talking. I love this event.
