Facts
Tony Allen feat Damon Albarn – Go Back
- A tune off the father of afrobeat’s 2014 album Film Of Life, to which that was the lead single.
- Now, for today’s history feature we go back to 2015 when the Blur and Gorillaz star Damon Albarn had to be carried off the stage after a performance with his latest project Africa Express went way overtime.
- The band was originally only scheduled to headline for one hour at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark, but they decided to literally play all the songs in an epic set that included a cheeky rendition of The Clash’s Should I Stay or Should I Go.
- Finally at 4am the lights shut off for everyone including Albarn who had to be carried stage left.
Lil Silva feat Charlotte Day-Wilson – Leave It
- This is one of a pair of collab singles the UK-based veteran artist just dropped over the past week. It’s quite amazing but true that the artist has been around for well over a decade working with the likes of Mark Ronson & George Fitzgerald but has yet to release a studio album.
- That will change on July 15 when Yesterday Is Heavy drops in full, of which this tune and What If are the 3rd & 4th singles.
Gwenno – An Stevel Nowydh
- This is quite interesting, as this is a single in the Cornish language meaning The New Room.
- For those that do not know, Cornish is a Celtic language spoken in the Southwest of England, and actually was revived in modern times having become a dead language in the late 18th century.
- This song will feature on the artist’s new album Tresor, which dropped last Friday. And if Psy and BTS can get stadiums full of English speakers singing why not Cornish?
Suave Punk – Dust Bunny
- This is an LA-based artist true name Justin Kim. Interestingly, this song was inspired when the artist was doing a bit of tidying, finding a big dust bunny floating around and thinking that there must have been stuff in there that dates from before he even moved in.
- Kim further elucidated, “It’s funny to imagine that while living in this particular house for the past two years, things have changed a lot, both within and around me. This dust bunny however, is probably one of the only things that had stayed the same, watched me grow in a sense. The song in essence, was our conversation.”
Layzi – Shop Around
- Interesting tune right here, with the artist bringing some mega vocals over a lo-fi beat on a song that deals with relationship anxiety about infidelity.
- Available now via Spirit Goth everywhere, wait for the chorus it is something else.
Broken Bells – We’re Not In Orbit Yet…
- For those unfamiliar, this is the duo of Brian Burton (a.k.a. Danger Mouse) and Shins frontman James Mercer — are back with a new song, “We’re Not in Orbit Yet…” The track will appear on the duo’s upcoming album, Into the Blue.
- Danger Mouse has really been quite busy of late, as Burton also has an album coming out with Black Thought later this summer as well. Into The Blue is the duo’s first album in 8 years, but still TBA on a release date and other specifics so we’ll just have to wait it out.

Part 2
Pol - Boys Are
Chinese American Bear - Love Bus
Courrier Sud - Out of Love
chemical club - Every Morning Is A Chance
Goldmyth - Triptych
Narae Lee - In the Air

Facts
Pol - Boys Are
Dutch new wave duo Pol have released their latest single 'Boys Are'. Pol is made up of siblings Ruben Pol and Matthijs Pol, both multitasking as musicians and models. Their latest track follows the pair's debut single, 'Comme Ça.' Pol describes their latest single as an exploration of male gender roles: "‘Boys Are’ is about toxic masculinity, something that still lingers in current society. With this song we want to celebrate self expression." Go Pol.

Chinese American Bear - Love Bus
Chinese American Bear is a retro, bedroom pop Chinese/English duo creating positive, upbeat, and eclectic indie music that bring together their cultural experiences and backgrounds. They are a married Interracial Couple who have known eachother since Highschool, calling themselves Bears as nicknames. Hence, making their appropriate band title Chinese American Bear. The duo will be releasing their debut full-length self titled album on July 8th of his year.

Courrier Sud - Out of Love
After being featured on Bon Entendeur’s compilation and releasing a few singles on his own, Moroccan artist Courrier Sud now based in Paris will release his first EP this fall. His various influences, whether they are cultural or musical show through in his solar melodies, such as Out Of Love. With hypnotising synthesisers and a charming expression of non-chalance, Courrier Sud takes you on an easy ride, sunny and heartwarming.

chemical club - Every Morning Is A Chance
The new indie-rock project from fanclubwallet members Eric Graham and Michael Watson — have shared a new single called "Every Morning Is a Chance." the duo described it as being about "the push and pull within one's self. One side striving for positive change and habits in your life, the other pulling you down into things that have short term reward but will leave you worse off." Now, seems like this song is trying to teach me something. Just can't get a hold of it.

Goldmyth - Triptych
For the ones unaware, such as I was a few days ago, Triptych is a picture or a relief carving on three panels, typically hinged together side by side. One famous example will be the painting, The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch. Now, today's song isn't about that. The song itself is about that love you remember. In the artist’s case, there are three different conditions. I can't even remember one with one person, but how could you remember three with one?

Narae Lee - In the Air
Korean singer songwriter 이나래 has given us their newest EP, Strangers, consisting of 4 songs, and In The Air to be the last track. Despite titling the EP Strangers, the meaning behind it is for someone to remember them. A small foot print left behind in mud, and a breath of fresh air they've taken is all that they needed to remember them. For they are everywhere and nowhere.

Part 3
Men I Trust - Hard to Let Go
Max Koste - Dream State
We Are The Night - Mystery Happy
Goose - Slow Ready
Momma - Brave
Park Soeun - That's The Reason Why

Facts
Men I Trust - Hard to Let Go
The Canadian jazz pop group is currently touring through Europe, but they haven’t let that stop them from creating.A sonic ride through sweet despair, Men I Trust have gifted us yet another heartfelt sentiment with “Hard To Let Go.” The single almost beautifies the redundancy of fighting addiction. Whether it’s an outworn identity or the nagging angst of guilt, it’s hard to let go of what’s comfortable, even when it no longer serves us.

Max Koste - Dream State
Having released a total of only 4 singles dating back to last year, Max Koste is a fresh new artist on the stage. Located in Sweden, the artist writes, sings, and produces the songs all by themself. Max started to gain attention with their last single, Lonely Human, giving off Mac DeMarco suave vocals and chill vibes. Today's song, Dream State really puts us into our minds and lets us float along with their music.

We Are The Night - Mystery Happy
We are the night is a Korean indie pop band, debuted in 2013. They have shared us their latest quite depressing single, mystery happy. Now reading the title seems to mislead the song to be possibly about some querky happiness, but the lyrics express dread and boredom to its lowest point. Never ending Hunger for something unknown, even ice cream and fried chicken never seems to suffice. Man, how empty could you be!

Goose - Slow Ready
The band “Goose” formed in Connecticut in 2014, and have become known for their groovy jams and improvisation. Slow Ready is actually a remixed version of their much more upbeat song, So Ready, which was released last year. If you search online, there are people who ask if they prefer so ready, or slow Ready. I personally enjoy Today's Slow Ready. It definitely gives more depth and groove to vibe to. I'd say everyone should try and compare both songs as I have.

Momma - Brave
Momma has given some new music to listen to with their latest album, Household Name. On Household Name, Momma seem to argue: What would be so bad about stepping into the limelight? Referencing to how the band Pavement have dissed the Smashing Pumpkins for doing so way back when, Momma asks "If you aspire to selling out before other people accuse you of it, can their ridicule even touch you?"

Park Soeun - That's The Reason Why
Finding how so much music and art around her is made out of pure beauty, Park SoEun felt it was unfair how all the bad things were left abandoned. Realizing when such annoying trash was tacking a huge amount of her life, the artist felt ashamed and embarrassed to acknowledge them. She decided to instead, recycle them into music that deemed fit. Today's song That's the reason why is the 4th track to her newest album, Recycle. The track expresses the annoyance how she should have handled things and the realization of what went wrong.

Part 4
Jaguar Sun - Car Keys
Forever Honey - Singing To Let England Shake
Richie Quake - Joyride
Max Leonard ft. Indigo - Paint
Moon Visions - Love's Caress
Oohyo - Sand

Facts
Jaguar Sun - Car Keys
Ontario dream pop artist Jaguar Sun has released a new full-length called All We’ve Ever Known. This eleven track album is self-produced, and follows the wonderful split album, Blooms, with his friend Jesse Manager. Car Keys is the last track to our newest album, finishing the melodies with low tempo and filling beats. The lyrics indicate you to just move on forward. Everything's done. Go on.

Forever Honey - Singing To Let England Shake
Forever Honey follow their 2020 EP Pre-Mortem High with the dreamy “Singing To Let England Shake,” announcing a flurry of upcoming singles. The Brooklyn-based indie rock quartet share how “Singing To Let England Shake” is about feeling profoundly misunderstood by someone important to you, the isolation that comes from this realization, and the desire to feel a lightness again after something so painful. My question is, why England and it's shake?? Am… am I missing out on something?

Richie Quake - Joyride
Singer-songwriter/producer Richie Quake has released his debut album I Want Some!. Deeply ingrained in the creative scene of his Lower East Side neighborhood, this project functions as a portrait of creative collaboration and pulling up your community. Richie was heavily influenced by Nan Goldin’s book The Ballad of Sexual Dependency while creating the album. To quote the book, he said, “I want to show exactly what my world looks like, without glamorization, without glorification. This is not a bleak world, but one in which there is an awareness of pain, a quality of introspection.”

Max Leonard ft. Indigo - Paint
Max Leonard is a producer and musician, hailing from Marsden, UK. They are best known as the guitarist and producer in the band Spoon! And in Tritet. Now working on a solo project, they have collabed with artist Indigo. Now, these two are quite new to the scene, and listening to our song PAINT, and their previous Collab, Pretty Boy, I believe they both can go far.

Moon Visions - Love's Caress
Not to be confused with Spanish Band Moon Vision, Moon Visions is a band based from Los Angeles, creating groovtastic indie rock songs. Looking into their singles, I have to say I appreciate how they name their songs. Some of my favorites are Evening Euphoria, Empty Dreams, and wow, You're the Worst. Love's Caress is no different. Definitely giving us lovingly soothing vibes, it's a nice summer tune to relax to.

Oohyo - Sand
Giving us 80s-90s Korean synth pop vibes, Oohyo is back with another beautiful track. With Today's song, Oohyo borrowed some help from a Sound designer from the band Peter pan Complex to perfect their sound. Oohyo says they wanted to express of how something that seems so full and impactful in one moment can actually be so hollow and meaningless at the end. Now that's a thought to chew on and digest. So deep.
