[00:00:00] Welcome to Vitality Radio. I'm your host each and every week. My name is Jared St. Clair, and this week I have a unique guest on the show. Now, I would say that a lot of my guests are pretty unique individuals, but this is unique for, uh, a little bit of a different reason. You know, I got into health and nutrition radio.
Almost 15 years ago now, it'll be 15 years in November, and that makes me what I would think is somewhat of a veteran. I've been doing this a long, long time, but I got this guy coming on here in just a moment who's been doing it for like 600 years. He is the most, uh, veteran of veterans talking about health and nutrition on the radio.
His name is Jeffrey Burke, Dr. Jeff Jeffrey Burke, and he is joining me today on vitality. For the [00:01:00] first time, and I don't know why, because we've talked about this, uh, on Facebook in the past. It's just never happened, and here we are today, Dr. Jeffrey Burke. Welcome to Vitality Radio. Thank you so much. Yeah, we have, we have discussed it, but uh, this is our premier, so I think it'll be wonderful and I'm really excited about it.
It's, it's been a lot of fun. It's been a great ride. You know, when I first started there was little to no information out there, and today there's information around every corner. So rather than getting information today, we have to research the information to make sure it's right. Yeah. And true. So there is still a lot of work out there.
You know, all my friends are retiring and I can't even imagine. I've been doing it for so long. I want to know what's coming up next. So how long, when, when did you do your first radio show? 1981 . That is crazy. I was, uh, I was nine years old, Jeff. Oh, thanks for that . Well, you don't know that I was a nine also.
Okay. That's right. Nobody, [00:02:00] unless they're looking at the little, uh, reel on Instagram, they won't know how old you are. Uh, but I'll tell you what's crazy about this, uh, to me is that, you know, I always talk about my parents as pioneers because they opened up my shop when I, in 1977, uh, so, you know, four years before you started this thing on the radio.
Health food stores in 1977. For one thing, there weren't that many of them. And for another one, it was a tough enterprise to try and make any money in. Uh, you know, people were called granolas and, and health nuts and things like that. You remember all these terms? I sure do. and uh, and now of course health is, you know, kind of mainstream.
Everybody's. Talking, it's not so much about debating, you know, should we be eating white bread or wheat bread like it was back then, it's about should we be paleo or carnivore Right. Or keto or vegan or whatever these different options are. And I'm curious, just for a couple of minutes, if you'll, uh, talk to us about, You know what it was like back then talking about natural supplements and natural health on the [00:03:00] radio.
You know, we didn't have a lot to talk about. We didn't have all the super nutrients and all of the amazing fines that have been discovered over the last four decades. At the very beginning, we had basics. I mean, our basic probiotic was what? 15 million biological bacteria. Our calciums were bone meal and dolomite
Uh, we didn't have any specialty formulas. There were no blends. There were no combinations. And if you wanted to create one, you had to do the research, go to the library, read the research books, and then once you found something that sounded good, you had to find a way to get it. Um, we had a lot of, it was interesting because the medical establishment was completely different then.
They were no way supportive. But the thing that I used to love the best was. I was at a store that I was working at in Westwood, California way back then. I was working with Dr. Earl Mendel back then in his chain. And what was so funny is at the end of the day, after the store was closed, doctors would [00:04:00] actually come to the back door to get their vitamins because they didn't want their colleagues to see them in a health food store,
So it was kind of a different mentality and. You know, it was just, it was just different. It seemed like back then it was kind of a fad and it was kind of like a luxury to be able to take supplements. Where today it's a hand down necessity because of the fact that, you know, everything is such a mess, including our diet and even where our food comes from and the way that we've gravitated to such unhealthy foods today, and how that one time geriatric old age category way back then.
Now covers all age brackets and people are now having health conditions from younger years all the way up. So it's been an interesting journey. Um, but interestingly enough, I, I've learned a lot and I'm, you know, continually learning, uh, because of new studies and new finds and, and new reports and new discoveries.
So, um, I don't think we've even touched where we're going to go, but we have come a long. Yeah, [00:05:00] indeed. And, and the, the rate at which, uh, research is being done and, uh, new products are being developed and everything is, it's like light speed now. Just trying to keep up with what is coming out on the market and whether or not it, it has, uh, you know, real usefulness, uh, for myself or the people that I serve at Vitality Nutrition is, uh, Is a challenge in and of itself.
And back in the day, like you said, we didn't have a lot of options and we certainly didn't have a lot of options to research the options that we had. So yeah, it's changed a lot and, and in, in really all the best ways as far as, you know, availability, interest, uh, excitement about the research that's being done.
I, I talk to people all the time about how. Now, you know, it used to be, back then almost everything we had to go on was anecdotal. Uh, there was very, very, very little research that had been done on a vitamin or a mineral or an omega fatty acid or any of those types of things. And now we can actually back up that, Hey, you know what, we've been talking about this stuff for a while, and now we have [00:06:00] proof that this stuff actually makes an impact.
It's, it's, it's a wonderful place to be right now. You know, I was saying to a group I was speaking with last week, I said, you know, if you're walking into a health food store, a vitamin supplementation, brick and mortar store today, like your own, and you walk in there, you are in a candy store of alternatives and compliments that you have at your fingertips today that we never had.
And today, This is the time to start taking responsibility for your health and having those one-on-one dialogues and conversations so you're not guessing, you know, because a couple questions can really adjust your GPS and point you in the right direction, where sometimes you may be doing something for a while.
Maybe hearing that somebody else was doing it, but you may be going down the wrong road and wasting a lot of time and energy and money where if you come in and you have a conversation and you're honest about your conversation, and, and I, and I preference that because a lot of people don't want to talk about how unhealthy they've been and all that, [00:07:00] but you know, that's, that's where we are.
That's our starting point. You know, if you can be honest about what you've done, what you haven't done, it's a lot easier to lay out that program. And to take advantage of all the information that we do have out there in the experience and, and the knowledge and the passion of people that are in this industry that just want to help.
Yeah, agreed. Because even though the industry has grown very, very large and there's a lot of money in it, and I'm constantly warning people listening to my show to be careful where they're spending their health and nutrition dollars, because some of the old health companies are owned by companies like Pfizer now, uh, companies that may be inherently.
Aren't as trustworthy as, uh, we would like them to be making our supplements, but there are still some amazing individuals and families that are running businesses in this industry that are making a real big difference in people's health. And so it's fun to be a part of that, but, uh, you know, this is all maybe a more interesting to us than it is to anybody else.
So [00:08:00] maybe we should move on and talk about why we're here. So first off, you are now. Uh, working with Irwin Naturals, this is a company that I've worked with since day one. Really? I think I was one of their very first accounts, uh, back when, uh, it was Rebecca and, uh, I'm trying to think of the two ladies that ran everything back then.
Rebecca and Lisa. Yeah, Rebecca and Lisa. A couple of British ladies with amazing accents. I've never met either one of 'em, but I always loved talking to 'em on the phone, um, way back in the day and, uh, have always felt. These were products that we could trust, and we've had excellent success with our, uh, you know, with our customer base and, uh, people listening to this show, certainly using a lot of these products.
So I, it's exciting to see that you're aligned with them because. I respect your opinion, I respect the brand. I think it's a good combination. Um, talk to us a little bit about why you made the choice to align with, uh, Irwin Naturals as an educator. Because clearly, as long as you've been around, you've worked [00:09:00] with or talked to every company in the industry by now, just about.
So why Irwin Naturals? Well, you know, I've been doing radio shows with them for about over 26 years, and I've always loved what they stood for. My specialty in the industry has been working with gastroenterologists and washing the decline of digestive systems across our country. . And by that I mean that people are eating foods that are very undigestible.
People's digestive systems are not working correctly. People are using proton pump inhibitors because they're annoyed by the symptoms of their body screaming at them with gas and bloating and heartburn and indigestion. And they just wanna shut the voices down cuz they don't wanna do the right thing, they want the easy thing.
So I work with so many people in this area and the thing that attracted me to Irwin Naturals, At this later stage of my world, uh, is I wanted to be with a company that I could talk about something that I believed in. Irwin Naturals makes liquid soft gels. They are known as the soft gel company in the industry.
And something that's interesting [00:10:00] about their soft gels is they. They're hermetically sealed long ways on the on the soft gel, and they open up like a clam. So things open very readily, very quickly. So nutrients are dispersed into the system, which makes it really good for people that, number one, want quick results.
And number two, maybe need a little bit of help in their digestive system cuz I can get them to digest very quickly, even in the most compromised. No. Yeah, you were to say, the thing about it is, is people want quicker results because we do live in just a little bit of an inpatient society. . Well, you were saying before we talked that you've worked a lot with, uh, people who've had gastric bypass and that, uh, and of course you and I know people that haven't had gastric bypass, bypass or worked with people who have, may not be aware of this, but one of the biggest challenges at that point.
Breaking down anything in the stomach, right? Mm-hmm. . So doctors will recommend liquid multivitamins, for instance, things like that. But, uh, you had said that people have had excellent success with [00:11:00] these soft gels because of the type of capsule it actually is. Well, you know, I, interesting. And that's a, to your point, you know, the wonderful thing about.
when somebody finally does get a surgery, and if it's something that's necessary for them, I'm behind it. I cheer them on if they've done the work and they're ready for change and for whatever reason. But the thing is, sometimes mentally people think that their problems go away once the surgery is done.
The problem is most of the problems start after the surgery with things like diarrhea and dumping syndrome, and, and, and vomiting and bloating and uncomfortable because people have a tendency to very easily slide back into bad habits. Like fast foods and sodas, carbonated beverages are out after the surgery.
So you consider that you now have a, um, duodenal switch or you have a gastric sleeve, or you have a small little tummy. The thing is, there's not a lot of room in there, so. , people start noticing that they're losing nutrients. They're not breaking thing down, things as quickly and their hair starts falling out.
Their fingernails are peeling. Their skin is very [00:12:00] unhealthy. Uh, they don't feel good. They have no energy. They're very lethargic. So a lot of times they start using supplements, but many times. You know, they don't have the capability to really get the most out of them. Liquids are effective, you know, but sometimes they're restrictive For some people, the liquid soft gels I find do really well.
Like I'll recommend, you know, a living green multiple and maybe a probiotic and maybe even some turmeric for a little bit of some of the inflammatory levels that are in there. And it is absolutely amazing how quickly people feel. And they respond in a very positive way, and they start to notice that their hair is growing back again.
The bottom line is they're able to digest it, they're breaking it. and they are doing it in a quicker period of time because they don't have a lot of time in a small restricted pouch or stomach. Right. And I would say that for people listening who haven't had gastric bypass that aren't looking to have that gastric bypass, but feel some of those same things you just mentioned, you know, lethargic and uh, [00:13:00] and, and, uh, poor mental acuity and all these types of things.
I love that you brought that up because it always, to me, targets us right back where our starting point is, which is typically the gut. If we're not feeling as well as we. Ought to be feeling or we'd like to feel. So we always still have to look there, even if we haven't had the surgery. And if we have, well then for sure we gotta look, look there.
Uh, so yeah, so I, so I love that the Irwin stuff is, it's all in the soft gels. Uh, almost everything. You've got some gummies and a few other odds and ends, but, uh, but almost everything is a soft gel. Uh, and you do something really unique with some of these soft gel products. Um, A high percentage of the line, uh, you have a product, like for instance, let's just talk prostate for just a moment.
You have a product called Prosa Strong, uh, and then you also have a product called Prosta Strong Red. Uh, and then you've got a product called, uh, steel Libido, uh, a men's sexual health product and it, and one called steel libido, red [00:14:00] and so on. So talk to us about first, uh, this red thing because it, when people are looking at your line, one of the things that I hear at Vitality a lot is, okay, what's the difference between this one and the red one?
Right? So let's talk about red. Okay. When we use the word red, a word that we've trademarked and we can use it on our products, it is a product that helps to release and produce, uh, nitric oxide in the body. Now, nitric oxides been getting a lot of press. Uh, men think it's only for them, but obviously, We know that nitric oxide benefits everybody with blood flow through the body, to the brain, to the heart, to the appendages, throughout the entire system, including even getting it to the digestive system.
Men kind of are attracted to nitric oxide because that's what they basically get when they go to the doctor for medications that may give them a little bit better erectile. Situation or better libido in the bedroom because it increases blood flow by dilating, it increases blood flow to all parts of the body.
So [00:15:00] if you're using a product, I'll give you an example. Prosta Strong, the original Prosta Strong, is an amazing product for a man that has B P H or they're having a slow stream of urine, or they're getting up during the night to urinate. . What happens when the prostate gets enlarged? It's kind of like a walnut.
It's got a straw through it, and it's kind of like you're in the backyard watering your bushes, and the grandkids come over and stand on the hose. Obviously the flow goes away and it goes down to a dribble. That's what happens when we have prostate enlargement. There's a lot of surgical procedures, but many times nutrition can actually alleviate that swelling and in increase the flow.
If I'm standing at a store and I'm doing a lecture and a, a gentleman comes up and he is got Prosta strong in one hand and Prosta Strong Red in the other, and he's like, which one do I want? And I'll say, well, this one here, the Prosta Strong is gonna give you a reduction of the size of the prostate, give you a better flow, help you with urination, help you.
More fully empty your bladder so you're not having to keep going back to do the job. And he's like, well, that sounds great. [00:16:00] What about this one? I said, this one does the same thing, but it also has some added nutrients in there, like, uh, el Citraline at a dose of 1500 milligrams, which is a clinical dose for helping with nitric oxide release.
But there's also some added nutrients in there that might just make the bedroom a little bit. So where you're getting prostate over here, over here, you're getting nitric oxide enhancement, maybe a little bit of libido support, a little bit better performance support as well as prostate. So two different ways of going.
And interestingly enough, it seems that it's about 50 50. Some men will, this will be fine or this is will be really good. I, I think this'll hit on a, on a couple different notches. So it just kind of depends. The steel libido is the same. You know, interestingly enough, I was talking with a, a physician. He says, how many people come into him and ask for something for libido?
And I said, what do you tell him? And he says, well, first of all, I ask him if they would like to take something every day. Whether they would like to take something per planned activity. And I said, okay. [00:17:00] Every day would be, and he goes like Cialis, Cialis, or a family of the Cialis, which is something you take every day to increase libido and stamina and make you feel a little bit more alert and functional, which is good.
The spontaneity is wonderful. Steel or um, Viagra. One before you do before activity, about an hour and a half before it helps to promote nitric oxide. And we'll give men a little bit more libido and a better erection. That's what they're for. So we wanna go as close as we can to that. So our steel libido, the original formula is more along the line of something you take every day, like a Cialis.
The steel libido red that also has a banner on it because we followed the published studies on it to the T, and we could use that banner. It says, works tonight. So that is a nitric oxide product that you take about an hour and a half before activity to give you a better support in the bedroom. People say, can I do 'em both?
Sure. , you can, it just depends on where you're coming from. Some men like it the [00:18:00] daily, some men like using it only for activity, but we wanna make sure that we're able to at least give men the chance to try something on the natural side successfully before they decide to give into the amber bottle at the pharmacy.
Right. Well, and let's talk about that just a little bit more too because, uh, there's a few things that we always, uh, I. Kind of assume anyway when it comes to natural products versus pharmaceuticals and the, the first assumption that I think most people probably make is that natural isn't as strong. I think a lot of people fall into that, uh, category of, of thought.
I don't necessarily agree with that, and I doubt you do either. Uh, but, uh, one, well that's one thing that people will say and then natural's not as fast. That's another thing that we hear a lot. And in some cases that's true, right? Some things take a little bit more time, uh, natural, but not necessarily.
And certainly with nitric oxide, we know that that can be a pretty quick response. Um, but the biggest thing that I [00:19:00] think most people looking for natural versus pharmaceutical are after. is something that doesn't have side effects, uh, or has very, you know, minimal, uh, side effects, not concerning side effects we'll say.
Uh, and then also they're looking for something that's looking more at the root cause, you know, why doesn't this work in the first place? And that's what I love about selling natural products, is that we're not, we're bypassing symptoms, uh, as our focus. , but we're going after symptoms by going after root cause stuff, right?
Yep. So let's talk a little bit more about nitric oxide. on, on in that way because one of the things that I think is really, really great whenever I'm talking to somebody about, you know, the, the steel libido, steel libido, red or the prosta strong prosta strong red, same kind of conversation as you talked about.
I always make sure that I mention, but hey, not only that, not only is it great [00:20:00] for, you know, sexual performance, good for the gym because it's gonna drive more blood to the muscle tissues for working out as well. , but it's also incredibly good for the cardiovascular system, and you're getting like this massive side benefit, uh, without the side effects that you would potentially have from, you know, Viagra or whatever else.
Well, you know, if you look at Viagra, Viagra was originally a cardiovascular formula. Mm-hmm. , it was a cardiovascular drug and they started finding out from all of the patients that the patients were getting good results, but they were also getting better erections at night and doing better in the bedroom.
So that was kind of the way it transitioned over. But nitric oxide is amazing, to your point. Uh, cardiovascular support men and. You know, getting amazing benefits, blood to the brain, the carotid arteries, and you know, just getting blood moving. You know, our blood has gone from very, very thin, like red kool-aid into like red maple syrup.
You know, we have, you know, platelet aggregation and [00:21:00] stickiness in our blood, and then we add these unhealthy diets and before you know it, you're going to your cardiovascular surgeon because you're 90% clogged on a valve to the heart or in your carotid. And you know, we're not getting proper blood flow.
People are not moving enough to really get their circulation going. So it's really, really important. I call 'em radiated benefits, but honestly, I think cardiovascular health would be the main and then, Bedroom benefits would be good as well. But I mean, people are still dying from cardiovascular problems today and women are dying from cardiovascular problems as well.
So diet is an issue and activity and sleep and rest and stress management and you know, all these things. But I think nitric oxide is. Really starting to stand on its own and, and you know, when you were talking about the pharmacy and drugs working faster, it all comes back to us being just severely impatient.
you know, people want people, people really want a benefit by tomorrow. They wanna lose that 30 pounds by Friday. And [00:22:00] it doesn't matter how long it's been coming on, we are totally impatient and in magic wands, you know, I wish we had 'em. We have some things that are amazing that happened very quickly. , but we have to remember that most pharmaceutical drugs are alleviating the symptoms that are either annoying or are relating to other problems in the body.
They're symptomatic control their blanket coverup. It's like taking a Prilosec for, you know, your gastric digestive system. It puts a blanket over the guts. You don't feel the annoying symptoms. Is it helping you to digest your food? No. Is it making things more absorbable? No. It actually is inhibiting some nutrients from being absorbed.
I love the idea and I think the reason that I've loved this industry for so long. Is because of the fact that there's nothing better than getting to the source of a problem and correcting the problem. I have a friend that was on those proton pump inhibitors for seven years, and she went to see a new doctor, and the doctor said Too long liver enzymes too high.
Took her off of them two weeks later, her [00:23:00] gut was where it was seven years ago, only worse. So now she's doing what she should have done, which is an enzyme and a probiotic, and taking bitters and using greens and eating a Mediterranean diet. And she feels good. But those seven years, her bone density test said that she's got bones like a 75 year old woman.
Now, she was absorbing no minerals over that period of time. So now she's got a lot of rebuilding to do just because of the annoyance of the symptoms. And I think a lot of us do that. And the, and the, um, I guess the responsibility of the doctors is to make sure people know that they can become habitual, and we need to let people know that there are side effects and there are things we need to know.
Is it worth the trade off? Yeah. And you know, even FDA and, uh, AMA both admit that. Uh, PPIs were never developed for long term use anyway, right. I think the longest term, uh, that is recommended, recommended by the fda, if I remember correctly, it's 12 weeks. And we have people that are on these for seven years, like your friend, 10 years, [00:24:00] 20 years.
And, and we know that, uh, after 10 years on, uh, PPIs, you're. Risk of death increases from all causes by about 25% according to a study. So we've got a lot of problems when we're just aiming at symptoms, especially if aiming at the symptom could potentially make the problem worse, which I believe is pretty much always the case in the case of PPIs.
Uh, so yeah, I couldn't agree with you more on that for sure. So with this cardiovascular benefit of nitric oxide, what I. Think is pretty cool about Irwin Naturals and the red formulas that makes it really unique is that there is a clinically effective dose of El Citraline in these red products at that 1500 milligrams, which is, you know, kind of the start of where most of the clinical benefits of citraline show up for increasing nitric oxide.
So you're kind of getting a two for one. and you can [00:25:00] always take, if you let, let's just say for instance, since we've already talked about these two products, you could be on steel, libido, red, and you could also be on prosta Strong Red if you feel like you need more nitric oxide. Or you could choose one or the other with the red formula and, and the other one without.
and you can base that a lot on the things that we've talked about. You can base it on what's happening in the gym, what's happening in the bed, but one of the things that you can also base it on is actually looking at blood pressure because we know that nitric oxide is dramatically effective for helping to balance blood pressure.
And, and that's a really good point. And, you know, it's one of those radiated benefits. I have a, uh, a men's group that I do speak to frequently, and they're all over probably 60. Mm-hmm. and a whole bunch of them decided that they wanted to start taking the Prosta strong red. They wanted to keep in mind the um, The, uh, testosterone up, which is a red formula as well, because they're all getting to the gym.
They all work out together. Uh, they all served in the armed forces together, so now they're sticking together and it is [00:26:00] amazing. I would say 70% that have told me that their blood pressures have normalized, their blood flow is better, their circulation is better. Things like headaches have gone away.
Their bedroom performance is better. Uh, their recovery from their exercise, their prostate is better. They're not getting up at night. I mean, they're loving the multitude of benefits that are there. And, you know, and I, I know that every time they see a friend they haven't seen in a while, they drag 'em into the stores, you know, out here so that they can, you know, join the party, if you will.
and I, you know, we're still learning a lot about nitric oxide. You know, it's, you know, it's, we've learned a lot, but I think the audience and the listeners and the customers are becoming more aware because you're actually seeing more articles on there in, in respected publications on nitric oxide supplementation.
Yeah, well, I talk often about Dr. Iro, who won the Nobel Prize for Medicine when he discovered exactly what nitric oxide does in the body. Uh, and then he spent years afterwards trying to figure out, okay, so we know it's [00:27:00] really important, how do we boost it? ? And from his research, uh, to a large degree, we know that arginine and citraline, those two amino acids make an.
Credible impact in that category. And I'll tell you this, I don't go a day without taking a a, a pretty significant dose of El Citraline. Uh, I do it in a variety of different ways because I have a couple of, I have just El Citraline on its own. Sometimes I use that. I have formulas. Like what you're talking about that have El Citraline in them.
But I'm always taking Citraline because I'm always trying to protect my cardiovascular wellness because it's still the biggest killer in America and of late, uh, it isn't getting any better. The last few years we've heard of more and more people, uh, younger and younger ages, uh, having a heart and cardiovascular problems, clotting problems and everything else.
So citraline. It's a big deal. So for you listening when you're, when you're looking at these Irwin Naturals products, whether it be on our website, over@vitalitynutrition.com or in our store, um, look for the [00:28:00] red. I think, uh, if you're not already doing something with El Citraline, you're doing yourself a disservice not incorporating it, because again, the cardiovascular benefits, if no other benefits become apparent, those benefits are huge.
Truth be told, most people just simply feel better when they have more nitric oxide, uh, pushing blood more freely through the body, through the body. And keep in mind that it's not age. You know, there was a time when we, you know, we truly did focus on, you know, the geriatric groups that are out there. But you know, there's no longer just that main group of people going through these health conditions.
I've got. 20 and 30 and 40 year olds that have cardiovascular problems, blood pressure, blood sugar, metabolic syndrome. So remember, this is not an age situation. This is, you know, something that, you know, we should all be paying attention to sooner than later. Right, because the problem is, it, it will get to a point where it has gone too far and you're into the cardiovascular surgeon at that point.
Uh, if you make [00:29:00] it, uh, to that point, of course, because sometimes it catches you off guard and then you're gone. Uh, so protecting the heart doesn't start at a particular age. You're No, no doubt about that. Now, I know I've got a lot of ladies listening that, uh, are thinking, okay, so. . We've talked about prostate, we've talked about steel libido for men.
Uh, but one question that I hear all the time, and I know you've heard this too, Jeff, is there anything to help a woman when it comes to libido, uh, sexual performance, sexual energy, that kind of thing? Well, you know, for the longest time I, of course doing radio shows, I would hear from my listeners, you know, way back when it was sna, snail mail.
And then of course I went to emails and texting. And then of course, seeing people at travels, you know, they're like, you know, you're spending a lot of time on the guys. What about. . Mm-hmm. . So Irwin finally came out with a product called Steel Libido for Women. And this was a very interesting product because it allowed women to feel better in their own skin.
It allowed them to have a little bit more libido, even though they [00:30:00] may have a very stressful lifestyle. And it's making a resurgence after the pandemic because so many people were shut up together and you know, the kids are homeschooling and you know, things just weren't. You know, workable, if you will.
So I have a lot of women coming back to steal libido for women. They find that it increases their libido, it makes them feel better. Um, they're more in the mood, and that's kind of what they were looking for. But there was also a group out there of women that were menopausal or postmenopausal, and. Their, their complaints were painful intercourse, vaginal dryness.
They've lost sensitivity. They've had a couple children, so they came out with the steel libido pink, which I think is a brilliant formula because it really does, and it can be used in combination with the steel libido for women, for helping with moisture and helping with sensitivity and making a little bit of a warming sensation vaginal.
So it does really well and the feedback is very, very solid. And there's women in all age brackets that use these, and many of [00:31:00] them use them together. Now, some will say they only use them maybe around the times when they're gonna be a little bit more active, but that really doesn't help them with spontaneity, and I think most of them end up taking it almost on a daily basis.
But the feedback, obviously we can't try this one, so we have to get the feedback. And the feedback is wonderful in all age brackets, so, We finally came out with something . Yeah. Truth be told too, it was a tough question for me to handle early on. There weren't a lot of formulas out there for women. And when this particular product came out, um, I loved what was in it.
It made sense. But, you know, we hadn't had any feedback on it. And uh, for me, the proof is always there with actual, real people not trying to sell you something. They're actually taking the product for their own benefit and then telling you, yes, it worked, or no it didn't. And this product works more often than it doesn't.
And I really do see it as a tonic type formula. And when I say tonic, uh, I mean something that would be used daily. For [00:32:00] optimal, you know, uh, sexual wellness we'll say, or sexual health. There's some really cool ingredients in here. Uh, we, it, it goes from, uh, all over the world in terms of traditional herbs.
You know, there's Asian Jensen as the first ingredient, maka from the rainforest. Uh, we have dam, which has been in use in a variety of different types of medicine for years. Uh, Shandra Velvet Bean, which helps to increase, uh, dopamine in the body. And then there's some cool things that I talk about all the time that I love because I do think, Jeff, and this is coming from a man's perspective, but talking to a lot of women about this problem, even though most women don't love to talk about this problem.
Other men, . I've been, uh, fortunate to have lots of women that have trusted me enough to share some, uh, some, some information to help me help others. And one of the biggest things is stress and fatigue. It's like, okay, so yeah, it's not that I don't want to, [00:33:00] it's that I'm just wiped out at the end of the day or I'm stressed out and my mind won't stop racing on all the things I've gotta get done, you know, with the kids or at work tomorrow, or whatever it is that's in this particular woman's life.
and altheine and sensor ashwaganda are in this formula. And I love that because those two are so good for helping to balance, uh, cortisol levels and calm things down a little bit mentally so that you can focus in, be relaxed, get a little bit of zen, which then can certainly help to heighten the mood.
Have you seen the new release, um, the sensual. I haven't seen that. No. This is a new product. I'll give everybody a little heads up of what's coming. This is a product that actually works on a lot of the principles, and I have a lot of younger women that are already giving me testimonials. It is a combination of Ashwaganda.
It's got maka. It's got shatavari, it's got quai, it's got saffron, ginger, [00:34:00] cayenne. It's got theo bromine in it. It is used for helping to balance sensuality, but it also works on the mind body connection and stress. And anxiousness. So you're getting the calmness, the evenness, but also the drive and the want to, but also you're able to get benefit in the lubrication area, you're able to get benefit in sensitivity and your sexuality becomes a little bit more alive.
So what I usually recommend is if women are gonna do two, I would say the, the steel libido for women and the steel libido. Pink is a beautiful combination that's been proven. Some women are, are going over and trying the new sensual woman. And the feedback has been unbelievable because I, I've been talking about it around the, on the road and so I hear back from people from all the states that I travel to and the feedback has been, Remarkable.
So there's something new up and coming. Yeah, that's interesting. I'd never heard of it. I'm looking on your website as we're talking and it says this product is sold out, so maybe . So maybe [00:35:00] that's a bit of a sneak peek cuz I don't even know if I can get it right now. But I will, uh, I'll order it right away.
Uh, cuz I love the formula. That's a very, very cool and unique formula. I love that idea, uh, because it should also be a really nice mood balancing formula I would think as well. Yeah, that's a neat product. Uh, so yeah, stay tuned. Uh, if you're interested in that one, hopefully we'll have it for you soon.
I'll, I'll get some word on that and, and maybe announce it on next week's show once I, once I know when we'll have that. Um, Jeff, what other of the, of the. Formulas. Uh, well actually, how about brain awake? I'd like to talk about that one because I. In the last couple of years, the things that I've heard more than anything else, um, one of the things that's the most alarming is all of the people that are dealing with a lot of nerve pain and things that seem to be new for a lot of people.
A lot of the cardiovascular stuff that we've talked about, but I have heard so much of like post Covid, v i d, brain Fog. My brain doesn't work like it used to. I [00:36:00] can't remember people's names. I don't remember why I went into the next room. One of my most popular episodes of Vitality Radio I've ever done was with Dr.
Dale Bredeson talking about, uh, the prevention of dementia and Alzheimer's. And there's a real. Genuine concern about preventative medicine for the brain, but also the here and now. How do I just think more clearly and brain awake is a pretty unique formula in that category? Category? Well, you know, interestingly, uh, I come from an Alzheimer's family.
My grandmother and her seven brothers and sisters all had dementia in Alzheimer's. So it's very scary for me because, , you know, 39 and holding now. So I have to be cautious of things. So when, when the brain awake came out, the br original brain awake, and then the brain awake red, the way that I describe that product is brain awake is a product that you take every day because you want something to make you smarter today.
Which means why did I walk into the room? Where are my glasses? When they're on your head, you're sitting down and you change the channels, and then you can't [00:37:00] remember what you were watching or what channel it was on. Where did I put this? Where did I put that? You're reading. You get to the bottom of the page.
You can't remember what you just got done Reading. That's brain awake. The brain awake. Red of course, increases nitric oxide, takes it to the next level. That's the one that I. Personally, and it has made a dramatic difference because you know how much stuff we have to remember every day and you know you're doing radio, you're doing podcasts, and you're kind of putting yourself on the spot.
You need to make sure you can have that great recall. So that's the way I talk about brain awake and brain awake red. Ginkgo Smart is the one that I take so that three months down the road, I'm gonna remember talking with you on this podcast. That's my long-term benefit product. I take them both because I want the long term, but I also want the today and that nitric oxide punched.
When the red product and the brain awake red, it just brings it to the next level because I think that that's necessary, getting that blood to the brain as well as just getting the blood to the heart and all the other benefits [00:38:00] of Nitric Ox. Yeah, I think that that's, well, you sound just like me. I mean, my biggest concern is just trying to prevent, uh, any more, you know, loss of, of long or short term memory focus.
My brain is always all over the place. I'm very much someone who sees squirrels often and have to, you know, kind of reign myself back in. And as I said, I, I, I use. Uh, you know, theanine and, and ashwaganda and things like that for that, those purposes. But the brain awake is, uh, it is a pretty unique product and, and we've had very good feedback on it over the years.
It even has, uh, a little bit, you know, with the brain awake red, you're getting the. The, of course, the nitric oxide benefits, but there's also a little bit of caffeine in there to just kind of wake you up a little bit. But it really is a little, it's like 25 milligrams. Um, and I have found, and, and have talked on the radio plenty about, uh, how caffeine and theanine, uh, and now caffeine theanine and Ashwaganda is what I actually do [00:39:00] prior to recording my shows, uh, to.
be able to stay on track, stay attentive with my guest, make sure that my brain's not thinking of the 19 things that are probably happening on my phone while we're doing this conversation, you know, all that kind of stuff. And I, I really do think the brain awake has, has, you know, covered that pretty well.
Um, I'm really curious. You got me, I wasn't planning on talking about this, but, uh, you got me searching around on the, on the website here, gut to brain Hunger Control. What can you tell us about that one? Well, you know, the interesting thing about, about the weight loss management category is that everybody, once again, that's the same group of people that are impatient, that are looking for the quick fix.
I think one of the things that we've, that has happened to us as a population is we are. We are always trying to find ourselves a quicker way to get to where we need to be. And I think what ends up happening is we, we put ourselves into this category where we think results need to be almost instantaneous, and [00:40:00] food has become this comfort category where.
You know, you go back a hundred years, people ate because they knew they had to eat to get the strength to go work in the fields, to come back in again. And so they were farming and they had to have physical strength so everybody you know, ate because it was sustenance. Today we eat because we drowned our sorrows, or we celebrate, or we meet people we don't meet just to meet.
We meet to eat and meet. You know, so everything, and when you're depressed, people eat terrible, unhealthy foods. So when we're hungry, are we really hungry? I mean, when seriously, is the last time that the average person was feeling massive hunger pangs in their stomach? Not usually. It's usually in their head.
Mm-hmm. , we think we're hungry. We look at the clock and it's noon and you're like, oh my goodness, it's lunchtime. I should eat. Are you hungry? So why do we do it? We're creatures of habit. So the wonderful thing about this product is it's going to help people control their appetite, whether it's just in the head or whether they really do have hunger pangs.
Um, I've tried this [00:41:00] out on quite a few people that are looking for kind of a, a way to make that that sensation go away. And I'm getting good feedback and it's just starting because we're just kind of getting it out there now. But, you know, the gut to brain control, you know, it's. It's kind of, it's kind of put together to target ghrelin.
And ghrelin is like that hunger that, that kind of hunger reflex that's in there. You know, we need to be able to suppress that both mentally and physically. But this is made for the person that's grazing all day long. or the person that eats and then 10 minutes later they're looking in the pantry and the refrigerator.
I mean, it's just, they're always hungry all the time, whether they are or not. It's a pastime. It's a comfort. You know, I say all the time that comfort zones are very familiar. It's like our rear end fits into that dent in the couch to hold onto the remote. It's familiar, but it's never really good for us.
Very rarely our comfort zone's good for us, but I think this is gonna do really well. Um, it's got things for mood. It's got a [00:42:00] methylcobalamin, it's got chromium, pacho for blood sugar, so it might deter a little bit of the appetite for sweets. Um, I think it's gonna do well. Not really much of a stimulant in there.
But it's, um, something that I think is gonna make a difference. I think it's gonna hit a big group of people. Yeah, for sure. I did a show, uh, wow, my gosh, maybe six, eight months ago. And I told this story and I won't go into great detail for people that have already heard it, but I was sitting here, uh, doing a show and or prepping for a show, so I wasn't talking to anybody yet.
I was just, you know, researching around. . I had a bowl of pistachios next to me, and I wasn't hungry because I just ate lunch before I came down to do the show. But this bowl of pistachios was there from a, you know, a previous day when I'd had it down there. And I found that I was eating, you know, unconsciously, uh, and pistachios don't pack a small caloric punch, right?
I mean, no, not . And so I'm like, uh, whoops. Um, but [00:43:00] uh, for sure this. Concept. And the reason I I asked about this product is because just this whole idea of a product that is designed to work on the gut-brain connection and kind of how we feel these, uh, cravings, because you're right, at no point have I experienced a craving so strong.
Because I was really, really starving and hadn't eaten in two days. Right. Uh, and that's a, and that's a blessing. It's a blessing in its own right. Yeah. I mean, we live in a place where food. Is available all the time. Not necessarily healthy food in a lot of places, but food is available all the time and we never have to worry about, you know, starvation, uh, the, the, the vast majority of people anyway aren't, aren't gonna, you know, starve in America.
But we do. Then, uh, as you said, we have these. Gatherings. There's always food at the gatherings. And, and even if you go to a, you know, like a trade show, [00:44:00] like we were just at Jeff last week, um, there's things to snack on on every aisle. If you go to, you know, the, the dentist office of all places, sometimes they'll have a candy dish there, or the doctor's office or you know, where, wherever you're going, there's always an opportunity to shove calories in our mouth.
Uh, and in many cases, calorie. Probably aren't gonna serve us all that well. And so anything I think that can work in the brain, uh, can be really, really useful. And, and also in the gut with the grelin, that's a really interesting product. So I'll definitely, uh, uh, bring that into vitality and, and give it a shot.
One of the things I love about it is that unlike most weight loss products that are on the market, uh, it isn't a stimulant. So for people that are sensitive to caffeine or maybe are already using more caffeine than they need or should be using, potentially, uh, you know, having something that doesn't have the caffeine can be very, very helpful as well.
Um, I'm in intrigued. I'm gonna do some research on this [00:45:00] DNF 10, uh, that's in there to help with, uh, satiety. And, and I'll, and for you listening, I'll bring more information to you once I've done a little bit more digging cuz uh, , that's an intriguing product. Uh, very intriguing to me. Intriguing to me. You know, the interesting thing about about Irwin Naturals is we use a specific oil in every one of the soft gels, and they don't just willy-nilly pick an oil, they try to pick an oil.
Like in this case they use an M C T. Because they know that there's an energy factor there as well, where a lot of the anti-inflammatory formulas, you'll see fish oil or flaxseed oil. You may see coconut oil in some of them. They use up to 14 different kinds of oils, but they want the oil to be able to sit at the table and pull its own weight with the formula.
So they're very, they use a select oil, so it brings something to the table and then of course the black pepper and a little bit of ginger in there to help with not only the release of the product, but to intensify potencies that are in there because it actually can increase the absorbability of many, many different nutrients.
So I just think that that's another [00:46:00] reason that they kind of stand out. Uh, another reason that I kind of have gravitated to them, even though I've been doing shows for so long. It just seemed like a natural fit, you know, because, you know, I'm very concerned about people getting the benefit of their food, their supplements and their medications, and being able to get the benefit of what they're consuming.
Yeah, and I, I'm glad you brought up the oils too, because I do get people that, uh, are maybe a little more unfamiliar with how these things are made. And in a soft gel capsule, you have to have an oil, there's some sort of an oil base and. Uh, it was a long time ago, someone at your company, Jeff, brought it up to me and said, you know, we're specific about the types of oils we use.
We do try and make it part of the formula. And I've certainly noticed that, and I think that, uh, makes a lot of sense as opposed to just using the cheapest vegetable oil you can throw in the product. Uh, you're actually using some fats that make sense with what we're doing and, and certainly the MCTs make sense, you know, in this formula.
Um, okay. [00:47:00] We could talk for a long time and we'll definitely have to have you back on again, but we have come up against our allotted time. Uh, anything else that you wanna share with, uh, any words of wisdom from all you years of doing this, Jeff, that you want my listeners to hear before we let you go? I want people to remember when you have the luxury of a supplementation store, please utilize that because that's where you.
The chance to get your questions answered where you're able to have a dialogue and make it specifically a dialogue about you and about your journey, where you were, where you're going, what you're trying to do, and be able to create those amazing relationships with people that. Are informed and educated, and knowledgeable, and and passionate because there is nothing in your world right now that is absolutely more important than getting healthy.
Being healthy and staying healthy. And it's wonderful if you have a lot of accolades and a lot of letters after your name and a lot of diplomas on the wall, and you have a big [00:48:00] jingle in your bank account. Those are all fantastic and kudos for your hard work, but when you start to lose your. None of that stuff means anything because at that point in time, the only thing that you're trying to do is research a way to get better or get where you were before things started to go.
So let's get ahead of the game. Let's be attentive to our health and wellbeing and utilize the talents, uh, that are out there for us to utilize and realize that. This kind of information is priceless and you can get it under a one to one. So that's, that's what I wanna lead my side with. Well, I appreciate that very much.
I mean, you know, vitality's been in business for 45 years. We'll be 46 years old in August. Um, I'll be 51 years old in August. So, you know, this thing's been part of my family since I was a a we ad as they say, uh, and I absolutely love. Aspect of the whole brick and mortar experience, and we try and roll that out even on our website through having our chat feature where you either talk to me or [00:49:00] my son via chat and can ask those questions that you have.
We really don't love just selling a bottle of stuff without having a conversation first about it. If we can explain in some detail the what's and where's and why's and how's of the supple. Then we know that you are far more set to get the result that you're looking for. So, uh, I absolutely agree with that.
Of course, I'm biased because I own a brick and mortar health food store, but, uh, that is what we attempt to do and I appreciate you, uh, recognizing that. Thank you. And thank you for having me today. It was a pleasure and I'd love to, to come back again and chat and. Uh, it's wonderful. I can't believe we waited this long.
Yeah. Well, you know, two guys that, uh, talk on the radio for a living. Um, it's amazing. Either one of us got a word in edgewise, but, uh, I think we did. Okay. So I appreciate it so very much. I appreciate your time, your expertise, and frankly your passion doing this. As long as you've been doing it, uh, it's, I and you do it so much more than me five days a week.
I'm only doing it two [00:50:00] days a week and feel kind of overwhelmed at that. So I appreciate that you're willing to do that. And, uh, bring the good message to people Your podcast launches in a couple of weeks. Uh, when that happens, um, uh, if you'll send me that first link, uh, I'll, uh, get that out to my listeners as well and, and let them know there's another great option for information out there.
And I would love to have you as a guest on there as well so we can chat on my side. Sounds good. Love to do it. . Okay, so that was Dr. Jeffrey Burke joining me. I do have to cut this thing off here. Uh, thank you so much for your time. Thank you for listening. I'm gonna wrap this up on the other side. Uh, you're listening to Vitality Radio.
All right, so that was Dr. Jeffrey Burke, uh, talking a lot about, uh, Irwin Naturals products. Now I wanna bring this up because I think this is really important, um, in light of a couple of comments that I heard from listeners. Uh, earlier this week actually, or last week, I guess. Um, it was, and that [00:51:00] is, I have products that I talk about on the show, uh, that are at least in potential, um, competitors of one another.
Uh, for instance, uh, today we talked about, uh, brain awake. Uh, I also have talked about, uh, multiple different brain formulas on the show. I've talked about Dr. Bredesen's formula, the, the, um, neuro Q I've talked about the magnesium three and eight, uh, from a couple of different brands, all of which I think.
Are great brain formulas. The reason I bring you a bunch of different options isn't because I'm trying to confuse anybody. , and I know it's easily done. Uh, when it comes to supplements, confusion is, is a part of the game, unfortunately, for you as a consumer, what I'm really intending to do, if I bring you a show where I talk about brain awake and I also bring you a show where I talk about Neuro Cue, it's not [00:52:00] because I'm giving, trying to confuse anything.
It's more a matter of just giving you options and you know what sounds best to you is probably a good place to start. There are people, I just had somebody this morning that reached out to me on Instagram. And she said, I haven't had success with your vital sleep formula. Uh, I was really helpful, but it hasn't worked for me.
And to her credit, she tried it multiple different nights at different doses. Uh, one capsule, two capsules, three capsules, and she just wasn't getting the results she wanted. And I said, that's not a problem because we don't want you to be stuck with anything you buy from vitality. Uh, and, uh, we're, uh, you know, giving her a refund.
Now, I don't love giving refunds. In fact, Really prefer never to ever give another refund again, , for obvious reasons. Uh, it's expensive and it takes time, and I don't love it when people don't love my formulas. I mean, that formula is my baby vi vital. Sleep is my baby. I love it. I [00:53:00] use it myself. We've had great success with it, with far more people than we have had, uh, that haven't had success.
But the point is, you are the biggest wild card when it comes to your health. So I'm not surprised that it didn't work for her. It doesn't work for everybody that takes it, but it does work great for most of the people who take it. And because of that, I don't mind having a very liberal return policy for our products because I recognize that.
That's just the way it is. Not everything works for everyone. That's also why I bring you a variety of different guests, sometimes talking about the same product or the same type of product as a previous guest has discussed. The goal here, as always, is to help you become the most informed consumer of natural health supplements as you possibly can to make great choices.
If you have questions, you can always call vitality, and I encourage you to. 8 0 1 2 9 2 66 [00:54:00] 62. I'm probably never gonna answer the phone. Occasionally I do. If I'm there, I will, but I'm not there and not busy very often to where I can be the one answering the phone. But I have a really great team. That is very well educated.
Most of them, them have been with me for close to a decade or even more. Uh, and the ones who haven't are still veterans at this point and able to answer most of your questions. Now, if they don't answer the question the way that you. Uh, had hoped or they don't have the information, then they'll get to me and we'll make sure your questions get answered.
That's what we do. Um, if it's a simple question, throw a chat in the website, vitality nutrition.com. If it's a more complex question, just give us a call and if you feel like you need to talk to me, uh, then I do have consulting options available and they can get you in touch with my assistant and she can get that taken care.
For you. My goal above everything else, like I said, is to help you become a more informed consumer about your health. Needs to [00:55:00] give you as many options that I believe in as possible, and that's what this show is all about. Thank you so much for listening to me. I'm Jared St. Clair and this has been Vitality Radio.
