Right, Virgin Red has relaunched one of its most generous offers for Tesco Clubcard members, and if you've never done this before, you need to pay attention. Here's the deal. If you sign up to auto-exchange your Clubcard points into Virgin Points for the first time before the tenth of May twenty twenty-six, you'll receive a bonus of five thousand Virgin Points. That's enough for a twenty-five pounds Virgin Experience Days gift card, or a decent chunk towards a transatlantic flight.
Now, this offer has popped up several times throughout twenty twenty-five, but if you've never signed up before, now's genuinely your chance. And here's why the bonus is so good. You'd normally need to spend two thousand five hundred pounds at Tesco to earn enough Clubcard vouchers to convert into five thousand Virgin Points. Getting them for simply switching on a setting? That's what I call a win.
So what exactly do you need to do? The offer is actually pretty straightforward. Sign up to auto-exchange your Tesco Clubcard points to Virgin Points for the first time between the twenty-sixth of January twenty twenty-six and the tenth of May twenty twenty-six. Stay signed up, and make sure you have at least two hundred and fifty Clubcard points in your account on the tenth of May twenty twenty-six. Do all that, and Virgin will credit your account with five thousand bonus Virgin Points.
Now, two hundred and fifty Clubcard points requires just two hundred and fifty pounds of spending at Tesco. That's one point per pound spent in-store, or one point per two litres of fuel. So if you do any regular shopping there, you should easily qualify. This really isn't a high bar.
Let's talk about why the ongoing conversion rate matters beyond just the sign-up bonus. Every Clubcard point converts to two Virgin Points. So four hundred Clubcard points becomes eight hundred Virgin Points. Once you've set up auto-exchange, this happens automatically with each quarterly Clubcard statement. It's genuinely set it and forget it stuff.
And here's a massive advantage. Virgin Points never expire. That's a significant benefit over some other loyalty currencies. You can steadily accumulate them over time without worrying about losing your balance. No frantic scrambling to use points before they disappear.

Click on Clubcard Account in the navigation, then select Clubcard Management, then Voucher Schemes. Select the Virgin Points box, and enter your Virgin Atlantic Flying Club number or Virgin Red ID. If you don't have one, create an account. It's completely free.
Once set up, your Clubcard points will automatically convert to Virgin Points each quarter. The minimum for auto-exchange is two hundred and fifty Clubcard points, which gives you five hundred Virgin Points, plus you'll qualify for the five thousand bonus.
Now, here's the important bit about who qualifies. You must be signing up to auto-exchange for the first time. If you've previously activated auto-exchange to Virgin Points, or received a bonus for doing so in the past, you won't qualify for this bonus.
However, and this is interesting, some readers have reported success by using their Virgin Red ID if they previously used their Flying Club number, or vice versa. Your mileage may vary, but it's worth a try if you're unsure about your eligibility. Worth a shot, right?
So here's my take on all this. As someone who holds Virgin Atlantic Gold status, which I matched from BA Gold, I'm always looking for ways to boost my Virgin Points balance. The Tesco auto-exchange is one of those set and forget strategies that quietly accumulates points in the background. It's not flashy, but it works.
Five thousand points for essentially flipping a switch is excellent value. Even if you only shop at Tesco occasionally, the bonus alone makes it worthwhile. And with Virgin Points never expiring, there's no downside to letting them build up over time. This is passive earning at its finest.
