Challenging myself to record a podcast episode a day for my 50th year on this planet.

Hello and welcome to Dailyish
for August 23rd, 2026.

I'm recording an episode every day
for this, my 50th year on our planet.

As I sit and record this here,
it's actually Tuesday, August 18th.

I'm just gonna let you in
on a little secret if you

haven't figured it out by now.

I've decided I can pre-record content for
this show because I don't know that, uh,

I'll be able to record episodes every day.

And so pre-recording content,
episodes, whatever, is one way I

will try and be able to actually
record an episode every day.

So I guess technically I'm not recording
an episode every day, I'm recording

an episode that will publish every day
for this, my 50th year on this planet.

How does that sit with you, listener?

Does that make you upset, angry,
disappointed, betrayed, happy?

Right now, as this
episode goes out, I'm…

Well, it goes out at 4:00 AM my
time, so hopefully I'm sleeping.

But by the time you're listening to
it, wherever you are in the world, I am

probably sitting with some coffee and
my in-laws that are here for the week.

I might have some thoughts on
how I'm feeling about hanging

out with my in-laws for the week.

Mostly good.

But, you know, when someone is in your
house for a week, you sometimes get a

little ornery, but definitely not when
you're listening to this, I'm not.

If, if any of my in-laws are listening
to this right now, I'm very happy that

you're here and we're having a great time.

I am positive.

But anyways, back to the subject.

Does pre-recorded episodes,
content, whatever, I mean, that's

sort of the norm these days.

If it's any sort of professionally
produced podcast or YouTube channel video,

et cetera, you know that it's not live,
and so it shouldn't be a big surprise

that stuff like this gets pre-recorded.

It is a little harder to sort of track
what might be going on, what people

are replying to, what conversations
might be happening either on social

media or if people are emailing me
thoughts about the episodes, When it's

a week, two weeks, whatever later,
and I've long since forgotten what I

recorded or even said in an episode
and someone's sending me a note.

So that's why sometimes if you do, there
might be a delayed response in terms

of what you hear on the recording if I
wanted to reference someone's feedback.

But, That's just the nature of the beast.

In terms of other random structure
for the show, I do kind of like the

idea of eventually getting to the
point where, I mean, I think I'll

need to have guests on the show just
to be able to fill out the episodes.

I mean, I'm, uh, what?

Five episodes in, so 360 more to go.

I- it's very possible I will run
out of things to talk about, if

not well before a year from now.

So if that's a thing that you're
like, "Ooh, I'd love to try and be

on a podcast," or, "I think talking
with Chris might be fun," feel free

to email me, [e-mail],

and we'll figure something out.

It doesn't have to be in person.

It ideally won't be in person.

Recording in person is actually
more difficult on a technical level

than if you're comfortable in your
home, wherever you are, talking

into your computer, and I'm in mine.

Not in my computer, but in my
home, and, uh, recording that way.

Even if you happen to live in the city
where I live, it's actually easier

'cause there's no chance or less
chance of echo and reverb and delay

and things like that happening in the
recording and doubling up of things.

So on a technical level, for
me, it's actually easier if

we're not in the same location.

So don't feel like that's a requirement or
a stress of, like, having to be in person

and cameras and all that kind of stuff.

Cameras can stay off.

It's just an audio
conversation, like a phone call.

All right.

Well, I'm gonna get back to my coffee
or sleep or whatever I happen to be

doing when this actually goes out and
you're happening to be listening to this
