Shalom and blessings to all. On this day, we delve into the Tanya, Chapter 29. An essential text that beautifully illuminates the intricacies of our inner struggles.
We all know the feeling, the tug of war between the yetzer hatov, the good inclination, and the yetzer hara, the evil inclination. It's a daily battle, a constant struggle that defines our humanity.
In Chapter 29, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, the Alter Rebbe, tells us not to be disheartened by this struggle. He reminds us that the purpose of this struggle is not to defeat the evil inclination absolutely but to constantly overpower it.
He encourages us to use the power of the good inclination, the divine soul, to guide the animal soul, our natural, instinctual drives, towards the divine purpose. When we feel the pull of the yetzer hara, we must remember that we have the ability to channel that energy towards good.
So, the next time you're faced with a difficult decision, remember this lesson from the Tanya. Remember that the struggle is the purpose. The aim is not to eradicate the evil inclination but to continually guide it towards good.
Be strong, be courageous, and channel your energy towards the divine purpose.
