We've got a huge episode for you today. Big announcements, big headlines. There's a lot to get through. So grab your coffee, turn us up in your car, and let's get into it.
Az (01:06)
Number one, first up, the thing we want to announce, and it kicks off tomorrow, is our Milwaukee Tools Winter Sucks campaign is going live. We've been given 20 of the hexon technology, heated gear.
That we're gonna be giving away over the next four weeks. And all you're gonna tell us is why winter
gonna be a new theme that we talk about each week, and we wanna hear your stories, and then you can go into the drawer. Or really, it's a game of skills, so you've gotta get
bit creative, a bit original, and you could be winning one of these awesome jackets, which you'll see on social that I've been wearing and we've been handed a few two, straight to your door or worksite. And they valued about four hundred bucks and they are super warm. They are super cool. I could see how these would be great for the tradies and builders in Melbourne and down south. It's still pretty cold in Queensland and I chucked it on the other day. But
Stay tuned for it. It kicks off tomorrow and we can't wait to give these things away. So we think you guys out there that are plugging through this cold wet winter need a bit of a reward. So we're here to heat it up and that will kick off tomorrow. now the second thing I wanted to announce or have a quick chat about is the Pulse Customer Experience Programme, which we actually launched a couple of weeks ago.
But had been working in the background with a few builders that I'd mentioned on other podcasts. We have been teaming up with a few good builders. It's a customer experience program and it is a pretty cool little program. And here's a little bit of the thinking behind it. Most of what goes wrong between a builder and quite isn't the build. Slab's fine, the frame's fine. You guys know how to build a home. What goes wrong is the experience around the build, the communication, the miscommunication, the lack of communication.
Andor understandings and different things that you know the customer may not tell you, but maybe shooting them at the time and you really need to get resolved. What we do is we actually come and help a few builders. We're not going to work with everybody, we're just working with a handful. And what we do is we've got a platform that we've created which is very, very cool. And we survey your build customers from a third party, from the good builder.
At certain stages of the build, and then we get the data back and produce it for you. it's a very cool program. it's a bit more advanced than what I used to do at GJ Gardener Homes, but it was a massive turning point in GJ Gardener Homes, and they are still so focused on it, and it was for good reason because it developed trust, which is the biggest thing in this industry. So
Check it out or get in touch if you want to have a bit of a chat around that. But that is a very cool thing. It's called the Pulse, and I'll drop all the link below. The third drop that I'm going to talk about because we've got a lot going on is the state of land reports that we are doing in partnership with Terra Linux. And I cannot wait to drop them. We're going to drop them this week, but we've got to get out the Milwaukee Tools campaign. So we're putting these on the backburner or really just tidying them up a little bit. And we'll be launching them next week.
In line with the podcast that I'm doing with ⁓ one of the team at Terra Linux, Arthur, who is an absolute legend. And we're gonna talking about what's going on, what they see. But what these reports will do will enable builders to have a look at where the land's being released across the two states, where it isn't, how supply and pricing are actually moving, not the headlines,
You'll be able to see the velocity of land, where it goes out, where it's being released, how it's being used amongst builders and where to look for it in the next few years. It's going to be a six year look back and you can use it to forecast as well. It is going to be a very cool report. Just like our Queensland Top 100 report, which we had over 250 downloads of.
So we love providing intelligence and market research to you guys. We've got great access to a bunch of that stuff. So we will be dropping that next week. Again, as I said, in line with the podcast that we dropped with Arthur from Terraalytics as well. So stay tuned for all of that. It's gonna be a huge help for the industry and that's what we're here for. All right.
We do have some headlines as well that I want to go over because there's been some really cool stories and some really interesting ones that's been going on in the industry in Australia. as you'll sort of see. And the number one headline that I want to talk about, maybe it's my childhood memories and maybe my daughter's when when my wife and I used to take her here. But the number one thing is the dream world here on the Gold Coast. Well, I'm on the Sunny Coast, but on the Gold Coast Master Plan has been approved.
So 55 hectares on the northern Gold Coast has been signed off by the state and will be staged out over the next decade. There's going to be four precincts. The theme park keeps running and gets room to grow. And there's going to be a bit of ecotourism, resorts, and hospitality, but there's going to be a big slab of housing, apartments, and mixed use the lot, which is pretty cool at the northern end of the Gold Coast.
It is going to be staged and it all comes with conditions. There's a lot around them, including roads getting upgraded and sites getting filled out and all sorts of different things. But it's a very cool job that will be dropping over the next decade or so and not dropping tomorrow. We're going to be talking about this article on the Good Builder, and you will be able to find that article on our site tomorrow morning.
6 a.m. So go and check out that article. And especially all you Gold Coast builders, there's a bit of opportunity, but it's very interesting, especially such an iconic place, and what they're going to do there. If you actually go there down Beatty Road, there's a bit of housing behind there, and I know that because I actually used to rent a little place behind there when I first moved to Queensland. So pretty cool. I used to call that place home, and it's gonna be really interesting to see what goes on there. Now, number two, this headline is up.
on the good builder right now and it has got a lot of attention and for good reason. Every time we drop something on prefab or prefabrication, we do see that we get a lot of attention on it. And the reason this one's getting a lot of attention is because Victoria's just started teaching the country's first prefab installation qualification. So that's assert three at Melbourne Polytechnic. And on the face of it, it is really good news and
Really it is, but there is a few things that are sitting beneath it and it's in the paperwork. So the qualification was actually accredited two years ago, back in July twenty twenty-four, and it was written in twenty nineteen and it sat there, never published for five years, nobody could teach it and nobody could put it on the register. The law changed, the funding turned up, millions and millions of it actually. Factories opened, modules got craned.
People were starting to pay attention, and this is when this has all sprung up. I actually think this is a bit of the wrong order. We're being told modern methods are part of the fix for housing supply, and they might be, but why the hell wasn't this released earlier? It's good that it's released now, and the course lays out some five prefab specific units that don't exist anywhere else in the system, so it's gonna be really cool. And if you were interested in it, especially with
builders out there, all you guys out there, the Melbourne builders, I'd go and check it out because it may put another feather in your cap, string in your bow, or whatever you would say, but there is gonna be a bit of this sort of stuff happening in the future. But why did it take so long? Anyway, it's here and it is on the good builder now, so go and check it out. Now this one is the third headline And it is another cool headline but it's a real
It's a it's a one for the marketers out there. So it it's bruised my interest. And it is Google has quietly started tracking your social profiles inside Search Console. So if anyone out there doesn't know what Search Console is, it shows the visibility of your website. it's a little bit technical. A lot of marketing agencies you use it and also to see how your ranking and and how your website is actually
Being crawled by Google, if you know what that means. I don't want to get too technical, but if your site is actually visible to Google is probably the easiest way to say it. But now they're saying, are your social handles visible as well? So what Google is really admitting here is when someone searches your business, they may not want your website at all. And this is really interesting. They might want your Instagram, they might want to watch a two-minute reel of your last build rather than going to your website.
And so Google's measuring it and handing you the numbers. And that kind of shows you how important some of these other platforms are. And a lot of businesses can grow through them. I know that, for example, I do talk a lot about Avondale Homes, but a lot of our stuff came from Instagram and not website, a vast majority of it. You've always suspected the journey. Client finds you on your website, checks out your Instagram, and see if your finished work is any good, and then reads your Google reviews, watches a walkthrough, and then finally picks up.
Phone. There's a bit more to it than what you actually think. So there's four versions of what actually is the end result of why they contacted you. And that is a very cool little thing that I think Google is doing. So you'll be able to have better visibility about how people are interacting with all platforms of your business. I think for that one, because it is a bit technical, I might do a bit of a video. let me know, put a comment or get in touch with us if you would like to talk about it.
any agencies out there that know about it, we'd love to do a podcast on it, but I'll do a bit of a video to show you where that all is. Well as I said, it's a pretty big week and there is a lot happening here at The Good Builder. That is it for today. Make sure you stay tuned for the Milwaukee Winter Sucks campaign dropping tomorrow. I want to see those winter jackets on some cool builders tradies out there. I can't wait to give them away. So that will launch on our Instagram tomorrow morning. Other than that
Have a fantastic week. Stay dry, stay warm. And we will see you on the next episode of The Good Builder, where we actually have a very special guest from Brett's Timber and Hardware. So I'll catch you then. All right. See ya.
