A new report has called for the ambulance sector to take on a greater role in the provision of urgent and emergency care to help ease system pressures. Leaders from NHS Providers, the NHS Confederation, and the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives say there needs to be a stronger focus on prevention, and that investment into out-of-hospital services should be rebalanced.
Increasing investment in recruitment to develop the paramedic workforce could prove good value for money and help patients access the right care, faster.
The NIHR has announced four new commitments to climate health and sustainability, in its latest bid to build a resilient healthcare research system. The pledges include reducing the environmental impact of central NIHR operations, and funding research into the issue of climate health and sustainability.
The other priorities centre around ensuring that research is adequately published and disseminated to maximise benefit, as well as to build capacity and expertise in environmental research.
The Department of Health and Social Care has announced that Community Diagnostic Centres have now delivered seven million tests, checks and scans since their inception in 2021.
The government has pledged that 17 million tests will have been delivered by next March, along with 160 CDCs being up and running. 155 centres are currently in operation across England.
