What is Last Stream Tonight?

Running down the week's news on alternative platforms, indie gaming, and content creation.

Josh (00:01)
Hello, how's it going? Good morning, you beautiful people. ⁓ it is so good to see you again on a Tuesday, not Tuesday, wow. I'm getting ahead of myself here. It's a Sunday. That means it's usually we have a stream on Sunday. This is something I'm trialing out. ⁓ Getting, you know, it all set.

ready to go and get things going. ⁓ Just to see how it works, you

So as you might have noticed, there is a little change. This is a new overlay over here. That's right. I'm trying this out. What I'm doing is trying to see how to get this set up as a ⁓ recap of the week and ⁓ calling it last stream tonight, setting it up as a like

another podcast type of thing. So I have that situated and after probably what I will do is last week's this week or tonight's and then next week I'll combine it not combine it but post it out as a new podcast that would be available throughout anywhere that you can get your podcast from. So this is kind of like you know the some part of the new stuff I've been trying or been

building as a word.

So it's just all like a work in progress. Think of it like a beta, you know? It's a beta way to see how things work. So tonight, we're actually going to go through and look at, I'm going to show off some of the stuff, the new stuff that I've done so far. ⁓ I think I showed it off ⁓ last week.

There was the new peer tube stuff. I'll go I'll go back over and and ⁓ show it off, you know, and ⁓ have added a new thing to our repertoire for monetization as a word. So one of those things is a membership I have set up through fourth wall.

What is the feed? ⁓ the couch part.

I should have gone through one of the things is that I've made some changes in our Discord server. I have completely renovated it. I have a new section that is for ⁓ members, premium members, I should say.

And it should, one of the things that I've made or I did, it should, the owncast going live notifications should have gone out into our live streams section. But it doesn't seem to be working. This is one of the things that I'm going to have to fix.

It is what it is. All right, so let's actually get to the meat potatoes of one of the major things I want to talk about tonight is just to go over the improvements that I have. I have recently made to the two ton waffle cinematic universe as it were. ⁓ So let me go ahead and switch over to the showcase scene. Now, if you're here last week, you might have seen this.

then, but what I did is I moved everything into a new PeerTube instance over at tootownwaffle.tv. All the links I'll have down below if so it'll be easy for everyone to updated bookmarks and stuff like that. So what it is that I moved everything because normally I had it over on peertube.tootownwaffle.com.

Now it's kind like a mouthful. So two tone waffle dot TV is going to be the new home of everything that is, you know, video on demand are everything like that is going to show up on this pure tube instance. And it's slowly getting things set up or being spread out through the Fediverse. So it's going to take some time for this change to take effect because I already deleted the old server with the old pure tube instance.

So that is no longer up and running. So that's one of the things I wanted to do is just to make things a little bit easier to remember. TwoTownWaffle.tv is very easy to remember. Another thing I did was, of course, we got the main site here. The main site hasn't changed all that much. I haven't really done much with it.

since I started up, a long time ago. I forget exactly when I did. It went through some changes. It went through ⁓ from Ghost to InVision and then back to Ghost. So it's staying with Ghost as the ⁓ underlying infrastructure for it. just constantly keeping it updated with new articles and stuff like that. So keep it fresh.

with new things coming in. And what I'm also going to be doing is recording ⁓ videos of these articles to post up on our sites. So there's more content, video content going out as well. Instead of, know, like these live streams for ⁓ last stream tonight or first two hours or independent creator podcast. Those things are still going to be being posted and and

shown on YouTube and PureTube. But I want to add some more of this content as, know, to not really like fill up space, but to, you know, flesh out the channels, make it a little bit, make it better for people to see more content and stuff like that. So the main site hasn't really changed much.

Forms are still here. That's right. We still got our forms. ⁓ I've been posting up in here pretty much almost every day, several times a day. And then if you've been noticing on either Blue Sky or threads, I've been posting up the link back to the particular threads that I've been posting into our forums. that is hopefully eventually will hopefully bring more eyes and members into the forums.

So that's something that will take some time to build up. Excuse me.

One of the new things is our two toe waffle dot store. I know if you've been here around for a while, you know, I've had a fourth wall store up and running for quite some time. Decided this this past week and past couple of days, actually, you know, spending some time and actually making it look good, fitting matching it with the rest of the brand collars like this dark gray and are the tan.

color, secondary color, whatever you want to call it. ⁓ So, yeah, there's one of the things I wanted to do was to get also the dot store domain, set that up and have it available to everyone because it was before it was like shop that to tell off. The thing was I was trying to make all the domains not as mouthful as they were like pure to that to turn or shop to turn. I know.

The subdomains are a good thing to have, but this is my personal opinion. It's a little bit easier and better to say, hey, visit our store at two Tom waffle that store is just one of those things that, ⁓ it's store, it's a store front. So what can you get at the store front? Well, not much right now. We do have our membership that gives you access to the new section in our discord, which I'll show you in a little bit. ⁓ It starts at like two dollars a month.

I decided, know what, $2 a month is less than a cup of coffee or just a little bit over a large drink. I like McDonald's or something like that. So you have your choice. You have the same access. I decided to give you guys a choice. have two, five, or 10, depending on whatever you're willing to set up for a monthly charge.

to gain access into our exclusive section over on our Discord server. But other than that, we've got also some merch. I'm going be working on some more of these profiles for Ecamm, these profile bundles. So I'm going to start building more of those and selling those on the shop. We have shirts and stuff like that. We've got a recent post. ⁓

our YouTube feed and you have a link for you know donation or tipping section here for like 5, 10, 20 or a custom amount with your name, message and that's available to you. So yeah, I went through and made sure that this matches up with everything. So it has the same color scheme as the forms, as our main site, along with the logo. So everything

That's was my big thing is I was looking forward to making sure everything matches with the brand coloring. ⁓ Because before our shop, the shop was like this purple. ⁓ The default theme that you normally can get on fourth wall, they have some ⁓ themes that you can choose to set your site up. You can also use CSS. So, I mean, you can customize your own shop. Anyways.

I decided to use this theme, change out the colors, and it matches perfectly. So I do plan on not customizing, getting some commissioning, some art for some ⁓ more merch. So look forward to that in the next coming months. I'm going to work on some more graphic designs and some more stuff that will be available on the shop. So with the...

Membership? What does that entail? Well, I'm glad you asked. Is our Discord, I had changed out so much in here. ⁓ I had previously set it up to not mimic, but I was inspired by another Discord server. But after I got done and I was sitting on it and looking at it after like a month or two, I'm like, ⁓ this is not looking really good.

So back to the drawing board I went and came up with changing things out. So you have our welcome section that is the welcome part here. New members will get a welcome to the server type of thing from the Sapphire bot. Announcements, as you can see, I have announcements channel. What more do you want, really?

I also got the new rules section all set ready showing up there. And server info is the same thing as the welcome, but this is going to be sitting here because what's going to happen is on the welcome, it's going to be pushing everything up. But I do have this information pinned within the welcome channel. Next section is basically a section that

gives notifications for ⁓ upcoming new video releases, new live streams that are ⁓ ongoing and blog posts that are being posted out. And all these three right here, you can have it where you can receive notifications if you don't. That's OK. No worries. But if you want to receive notifications for live streams, you can go ahead and the ⁓ channels and roles and set yourself up with that particular set.

⁓ notifications. So for like live streams, it gives a notification. I love CouchBot. I don't know how many people use CouchBot, CouchBot is very, very cool and very, very useful for ⁓ putting in live stream notification or post within your Discord server. And you can have it where after you go offline or your stream goes offline, it'll remove the post. So it kind of cleans up the category and the channels.

That's custom thing that you can do. ⁓ Same thing with the videos. It has new video postings. And that will show up here. ⁓ Unfortunately, live streams and uploaded videos are technically this one and the same. So it's going to show up here. That's OK. It's Discord. It is what it is. And of course, the feed is the feed from... I got to have that removed.

The feed is the blog post feed that's from our main site. So you can have notifications, all those sorts of stuff. And regular members and also premium members do not have access to reply in here. I know, I know. But it's just something that try to keep it clean. ⁓ Not professional. I'm not professional here. What are you talking about?

⁓ So yeah, so you got our general area, you got our general talk, you have a gaming section here that I pull lot of stuff from, like Fallout, V-Rising, and Funcom postings, see if these, I'm going to have to get some more ⁓ ties into the other servers from the other Discord gaming servers.

We have our home lab section which is basically we talk about home lab so stuff like unraid ⁓ true as hardware stuff like that just geeking out tech stuff really so yeah that's our section here ⁓ free games i have a bot that automatically posts up free games from steam and epic so anything that's might pique your interest it'll show up here

And of course, know, the spot for bot commands is to play around with. just. It's a spot for it. And of course, our our premium to don't waffle premium is, of course, we got premium chats. We got help chat that is more for like a one to one type of thing. If you have any kind of questions or anything like that about content creation platforms, alternative platforms or anything like that, that

would ⁓ not require more in-depth. It's more like a quick, how do I find the stream key to Moonbeam? Where is that in the settings? can quickly get back and forth on that. We also have tech help that is more of ⁓ a, it's more of a forum type deal where,

It requires a little more thought than you put into it. doesn't. It's a little bit easier to not search, to find your answers. We also have discussions, sections for first two hours, ⁓ discussions for each episode. we have the latest one was last week was Crying Sons. So talk about the episode, the game itself or anything like that. Same thing for the Independent Creator podcast.

those episodes discussions will be here as well in a premium section. And of course, our live stage, which I do 15 minutes before and after a live show or live stream is this is the place where, you know, premium members, we can talk amongst ourselves and just, know, just have some fun before and after a live stream. And of course, I have a behind the scenes voice channel. So if I'm doing a like start working on thumbnails or anything like that, I'll

pop into voice chat, share my screen. And it's just kind of like a more behind the scenes kind of.

For premium members is like hey here you go is this now we can work together as I as I work to create some thumbnails or start writing out content and it's just you know general stuff that I do When there's not a live stream or anything like that, so That is the new two-tone waffle discord server Hopefully if you guys watch this after effect

I have the links in the description, especially if you're watching on YouTube. I have the links in the descriptions. ⁓ I updated. I didn't really need to update, but the Discord link is all throughout the own cast. ⁓ Twitch, Moonbeam, Beam, ⁓ pretty much anywhere you can see my content is I have updated the links. So the link to the Discord is there.

One other thing I have changed. ⁓

as the, I, thank you Flux, ⁓ if you hear or you catch the replay, ⁓ for reminding me that I had some old links, excuse me, I had some old links on the Twitch side of things. So I went ahead and.

Stupid. Prevails. I went ahead and updated the links to on a Twitch account.

Hey, how's it going there, sci-fi man?

So I updated on the Twitch account and also redid the panels here. I did these today. I to make them look a lot better than what they were before. Yeah, I'm doing pretty good. How are you? ⁓ Hopefully, been enjoying this Memorial weekend. It's ⁓ day two of three. So I've been pushing off having to do any housework until tomorrow. So.

I've been kind of lazy. Hopefully you've been having a good weekend. Because I know I have. This is one of the things where it's kind of like, oh, I needed this really. So yeah, I've set it up. have the new panels for Twitch, for the Discord, the store. I have set up a new, like a, it's not Linktree, it's Card. So let me go ahead. Excuse me.

We got open this up here. So it has all the links to all of the places that you can find to any any two-tone waffle content and stuff like that. So I have links to Blue Sky, Threads, Macedon, Twitch, email. I got ⁓ our community, our Discord, our shop, main site, forums, PeerTube, our own cast site and YouTube. So it's

It's so great to have to get everything all together. And what I can do is it's linked to two-tonewaffle.me. So again, just trying to make everything a little more ⁓ condensed, better naming conventions, and all sorts of stuff like that is.

It's better because I do have another one that I use. ⁓ It's an open source one. I'm blanking on the name, but I kind of messed up with it because I have a setup. It's like links.totownwaffle.social, but .social goes to my Mastodon instance. Unfortunately,

It is what it is really, but I decided to go with card because why not? I try and make things a little bit more streamlined, I guess. Is the word I'm trying to look for? Sure, I guess.

Now, all of this, again, like I said, is to bring more brand cohesion with the two ton waffle brand. ⁓ So that's that's what my main focus was this past week was trying to get everything to be very the same color or very similar, the same layout, same.

logo on everything. And it's just, you know, it's just trying to try to make it all the same. So when you go from one section to another, it all boils down to being the two tone waffle experience and not something where it's like, oh, you're now on the peer tube instance. So this is a little bit different, which I still have to work on because the colors I don't have. As you can see here, it's not the same.

So this is something I'm going to have to work on, but this is going to require a little bit more effort because you're going to have to go through some CSS coding and to get it all to look good. I mean, I can throw some stuff up and it'll look absolute dog crap. Hey, I wanted to make it look good. ⁓ So that's in a nutshell.

is everything within the two-tone waffle universe. So we got our main site, got the pure tube, got the owncast, got, oh, that's another thing I want to work on with the coloration. But one thing at a time. Owncast, the waffle verse, yes, that's right. The two-tone cinematic universe. How's it going, Ocho? How you doing?

So that's one of the things I'm going to be working on probably next week or two is some CSS coding for the own cast and the pure tube side of things is get that all matching and it'd be done. It'd be all done. So I'm happy. It's all matching. It's all getting together. It's all fun. And also changed out. I've had this, the about me side on Twitch.

It was kind of like a joke because most people, they don't scroll down or go to the About page here. So they'll never see this. So I have it where it's like, if you're seeing this, you're part of the 1%. And let me know if you did. So I've had that for ⁓ years, a couple years now. So I decided to replace it, make it a little bit different. I think it's also.

I'm happy how these came out. I just did these within 30, 45 minutes in a pixel meter.

It was a ⁓ quick and easy job. They do their job. I don't need anything that's very complicated or anything like that. So, yeah.

⁓ So that's pretty much it for the waffle verse.

So a lot of changes, a lot of cool stuff that went through.

Different segment here will change gears. I don't know if you guys have been watching or keeping up with what's been going on in a tech sphere with like Google IO. They pretty much it's been. AI is like I I titled the stream. It's AI explosion. You have Gemini updates, you have AI coming into

more into search. Notepad on Microsoft's Windows is going to be having AI and it's AI everywhere. But the one thing that I've been really, it's a little creepy and not off putting, but let me try to find it here.

I did have it. I was going to write it. Yep.

So this is one of the things I saw is from a like a sizzle reel from VO3. They decided to it's yeah, I'll just show you. So basically it looks like, know, ⁓ a interview at like a auto show somewhere. And there's very typical where you have ⁓ something like this happens. But.

This is all AI. it's just like, really, this is, you can tell every once in a while, but it's getting scary good how far along it's coming. And I noticed a couple of things where, you know, had the people holding the lapel mic says, sometimes people do that. They don't have it clipped on.

on the shirt like this guy here, how he has the lapel mic here, but sometimes they'll have it show up where the person's holding the lapel mic as they're doing the interview. But I was watching this. like, this is kind of hard to figure out what's real, what's not. I mean, it's all AI, but.

This is it's getting scary and how how good this stuff is becoming. So that's one of the things I was wanted to talk about tonight was is all of this AI stuff that's been coming around. And really, it's. I know a lot of people are. Now, I don't want to say it like fearful or.

instantly on the hate wagon with AI. elements of AI are just like any kind of tool. As long as it's used responsibly, it's no problem. It helps enhance or ⁓ improves a workflow or whatever you've been working on. But with some of this is like, ⁓ there was also another one where, what was it? ⁓

Yeah, it's this video here, same thing. This is all AI. You can tell right here, yeah.

It's.

It's on the cusp of becoming where filmmakers are going to rely too much on AI and creating like commercials or short films or anything like that. really... It's going to exacerbate the laziness of humans. I mean, we're lazy as it is in a lot of different things and a lot of different ways. Like the muzzle flash is not even...

It's coming out of the scope. But it's just one of those things where it's like, if it's this, we've gone so far this so far. I know I'm stumbling on the words there. But it's gotten that this far that within another, let's say, another five years. ⁓

it's going to replace a lot of the industry of CGI. CGI ⁓ visual effects houses, they're going to be looking to start incorporating a lot of this AI into their workflows and their ⁓ client work. And I know how we are usually saying, ⁓ we can definitely tell like, ⁓

particular section of a movie or TV show has bad CGI because the fact of the matter is that the effects house or ⁓ the company that makes the CGI was under a time crunch and it didn't have enough time or even budget to make it a decent looking scene or segment of whatever show or TV or movie that they're working on.

that, you know, it kind of just gets thrown together and out the door. But we're going to see some more with AI that is just going to lose jobs. A lot of the visual effects creators and people who do this kind of work are going to be out of a job because the companies are not going to say, hey, I'm paying you like what, a hundred thousand dollars a year.

for your position, I can just have VO3 do it for like 250 or $500 a month. Oh well, I mean that's.

That's going to be disheartening for a lot of people that are going to lose their jobs. And it's a sad thing too, because we know that this could be used for good, but the majority of it is just going to be like, we're going to replace people. it's not good.

Yeah, and there was a lot of things like this one here where ⁓ like AI videos with sound are integrating it with audio. And that was like another stepping stone.

It's getting to that point where, really, are we? Yeah, you can definitely tell there, And you can tell with the skin is very plasticky. It has kind of this feeling to it still.

But again, like I said, like five to 10 years, this is going to be a complete change. This is going to be completely different and it's going to be more realistic. It's going to be a lot faster.

And it's going to be that much more difficult to figure out what's real and what's not. And for those who are that hate AI, they do have a point. Because it's going to be something where it's going to be very hard to figure out down the line.

Yeah, you're right. it's a sheer laziness that gets me is it is getting good. But the only usages I'm seeing is a creation of fakeness. Commercials with fake actors, movies with fake background people, eluses the human elements. We're going to see faces everywhere of people that just don't exist. And when it's filled with people that don't exist, when they remove that humanity, what's left? Exactly. You are spot on. And we can. Stump stump people have been.

worried about this since for what, five, many years since CGI. And they're like, oh, we can replace CGI double. And we've seen it on plenty of movies. Deadpool, Wolverine had CGI doubles. Many different TV shows, other movies have utilized CGI doubles where you can definitely tell it has that feeling.

Especially in episode one of Daredevil Born Again. The building jumping. You can definitely tell it was a CGI double. It was not a stunt person. It was all CGI. But the thing is, like you said, if we continue on this path, it's going to become the point where why even have human actors?

Just throw AI some prompts and you have like an hour or two movie with no actors, people who do not exist. it's like, why even bother making movies? Yeah, I absolutely see it's good uses. Trust me. AI has a ton of great use cases, but the ones being pushed the most feel like absolute worst ones. It's baffling. Yeah, you're right. That's the thing. That's why I try.

I do use AI and ⁓ streamlining a lot of my workflows. I don't use it to create content. I use it to make my content a little bit better. And I give two to three passes as a final result. But the thing is, is that I know other people would be... In fact, I was watching ⁓ this YouTube video. I forget exactly who it was, but...

They were going on for, it was a 20 minute long video of how to create a ⁓ react video or react short or video with using AI models, mount model after you using AI to write the script, have AI read the script and use you as the AI model. I'm like, are we really getting to that point where

React content is the laziest form of content, but we've pushing it off to AI because we can't be bothered to react to a video. What? I mean, they put in a lot of work using ⁓ going through like a chain process through make.com, which is like Zapier. So it tastes like a video, pushes it to AI. it's just like, have really got to that point where the laziest

style of content. You're not doing anything. People have made the content, you're sealing it and just sitting here going.

That's Mm hmm. And you can't even be bothered to do that anymore. Yeah, it's like auto tune. The proliferation of auto tune has been huge so much that music pre auto tune is absolutely seen as more authentic and auto tuning like Pink Floyd just sounds wrong. But almost every song we hear today is auto tuned. Yeah, that's that bugs the hell out of me with the auto tuning and

Most of it is in like in the pop, ⁓ hip hop and R &B, not R &B, not Jordy and that, but you can definitely tell. It's like, ⁓ I understand that you are ⁓ a lyricist. You write your songs, but you don't have the talent to sing it.

That's OK. That's perfectly fine. But you can work it in a way where you can speak it in a musical-like tone without resorting to autotune, because it just sounds awful. It sounds bad. It's not good. mean, T-Pain, he's most notorious for using autotune. that's his stick. That's his bread and butter. And that's what he's known for. And that's...

No, that's it. That's him. And just use Vocaloid. Right. Yeah. I the thing that's the thing is that it's going to become to a point right now we have in YouTube is a big thing with copyright music and false copyright claims and and stuff like that. ⁓ Where people are using.

DMCA free or copyright free music. But you have companies that are being created to false claim these songs as they their own, hoping that, you know, they can just siphon off out of revenue and stuff like that. But it's just YouTube has got into a point where they have it in the YouTube studio where,

You don't need to worry about music or have human created music. You can have AI do it for you and you don't have to worry about getting copyright claimed. But you do. Even in movies seeing like practical effects like an old Star Trek and Star Wars mind blowing what they were able to do and CGI is still good, but it doesn't have that same feel. But CGI still artists made so it made that their skill and purpose involved.

But when everything is just generated, as I say, if they didn't put any effort in making it, why should I put effort into watching it? That's a good point, because we joke about the prequels. The whole scene, the most of our scene, that was all CGI, except for ⁓ the characters Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker. But the whole entire ⁓

scene, the backgrounds and everything else, it was all CGI. So you have these two actors, you know, acting on what's going around them. But it's this is a sea of green. And it's also the same thing in a lot of the MCU movies. I was very I was very impressed. I'm not going to do any spoilers or anything like that. But for Andor, both season one and two, they utilized a lot of

practical effects and set locations, which gave it an air of, you know, practicality that these characters, these people are actually there living within this particular scene. And as one of the things is like, thank you. We need to have a lot of Hollywood actors or actors, but directors and producers. ⁓

utilize more practical sets, more practical effects. You can use CGI to help enhance it or help make it a little bit more. I'm blinking on words, you know, enhance it a little bit, add some more pizzazz to it. But you have the basis of what the practical set is. But, you know, you can have the background and be all CGI.

But it's just to have your actors actually be able to see what they're looking at and what it's supposed to be. That's that's that's the great thing that I've seen a few, fair of many directors move towards or back towards, I should say. Oto said it's like when in old movies, when they use matte paintings, using camera work to give the impression of distance. Yeah, that the scene was in A New Hope.

where ⁓ the shuttle bay and you have the massive platoons of stormtroopers. And of course, the majority of that is a matte painting. Not many people would care or realize that it's not real, but it's a matte painting. But that's just one of the things that's great too. ⁓ Matte paintings are awesome. Not many people use that anymore.

I can't remember if there was a TV show or a movie that had this kind of ⁓ matte painting essence to it. I'll have to look to see if there is any modern movies that had matte paintings.

So yeah, AI has been, you know, it's just, I'm not saying I'm crushing it, but it's, I'm worried. I'm worried for future creators, future filmmakers, future artists, any future endeavors. It's like, like you said, Ocho, if it's, everything is AI, there's no human element to it, why even bother?

Yeah, right. Fantastic stuff. Shunting the effort off to AI. Like you can do it. Sure. But will it feel it? You know what? From my point of view, some of the stuff I've seen, it's it's not worth it. It's like I understand if you want to create a like a fantastical, you know, like. ⁓

glowing orb and a alien forest and you don't have the budget or the know-how of creating that and like in blender or Maya. Sure, you can you can quickly whip something up and in AI. But the fact is that you're you're selling yourself short. Get the skills and learn Maya or blender if this is something that you want to learn or to do, do it.

that way, actually get your hands dirty ⁓ going into Blender and doing all this sort of stuff. It's kind of. It's kind of like, you know, hey, I'm. Paying an artist to do something for me, but the artist is not real and you're not really paying for it. It's all free. All of us are paying for it with higher ⁓ energy bills and ⁓ climate change and.

You know, data centers sprouting up everywhere that we don't need. But it's something that we don't need, really. And it's kind of like, you know, I saw this article here on The Verge where AI is tech CEOs are going to be using AI to replace themselves. They're pricing themselves out of their own jobs. So why do we even need to pay CEOs millions of dollars?

When we get AI to do it.

Yeah, really good with some AI usage, like using AI to input extra frames in between real frames and games. Add smoothness, like the source is something the artist already made. It's just not making stuff the whole cloth. Yeah, exactly. But like with this is, know, CEOs from Zoom and Klarna used AI avatars while reporting earnings. Like these guys are making millions of dollars and they can't be asked to, you know,

actually do the work that they're being paid for. Let's just get AI to do it. So why should they be paid millions of dollars? Just dump them and use AI to make business decisions.

You're welcome shareholders saved you money line goes up. I mean, it's just, you know, the buy now pay later company, Klarna featured AI version of CEO and co-founder Sebastian. I'm not going to butcher that name in an 83 second video about its Q1 2025 results as reported by 10 Crutch.

Video description says that it's an AI avatar is presenting the results and AI avatar kicks off the video by saying it's me or rather my AI avatar. So. Why have why have CEOs? Why even bother having a human CEO when we can replace them with an AI? ⁓

And these people are thinking, ⁓ this is funny. This is goof. But they're not really looking at the long terms. Like, well, shareholders are going to look at this and be like, yeah, why should we pay you? We can put more of that money into my pocket instead of your pocket and have AI do all the business work. Really.

What are you doing anyways? What is your job?

So I saw that I'm like, you know what? That's pretty funny that, you know, they're going to price themselves or put themselves out of work.

And even with the Discord, was going to be doing the same thing where, you know, using AI to help you catch up on conversations. I don't know. I've noticed every once in a while there is a section in Discord. believe it's here. And the top. Yeah, it's like the for you.

I don't think I had it. I remember something where. Our mentions are bookmarks, no. This I remember seeing it, I think it was on my mobile, but I forgot where I saw it. I don't have it anymore, but it was like it kind of like this article says it was basically ⁓ summarizing stuff that you can catch up with in your discord feed. And to me, I'm like, OK.

That could be, that is a useful thing because there's been plenty of times where you go to a Discord server and like an hour has passed and you come back into it and it's like a completely different conversation that is like three times removed. So with this, it's like, okay, that can be, that's a good use of AI to help summarize what has been happening since you last visited a server. That's pretty cool.

You know.

That's the nice thing with AI is that sometimes it can be a good use or a bad use.

I was trying to think of anything else. ⁓

Yeah, and course with OpenAI and Johnny Ive coming together, we've seen that to make ⁓ an actual AI capable device. We've seen that already with the... There's a company that makes the eye, I believe it's called, that you wear like a necklace and it records and summarizes everything that happens within your life. And...

I had like cat hair and a nose.

But I think with Johnny Ive, if you don't know who Johnny Ive is, it's kind of like ⁓ from an old Apple design, did a lot of like old Apple phone designs and software designs from back in the day.

Sure, you saw the post I shared that was like the dude using AI to summarize freaking text messages. The work emails are shortest. Yeah, I saw that. That, I get on the iPad, I had the Apple intelligence, the summarization. It wasn't good. It summarizes your text messages. And you're right. Like, why do we need a summarization of text messages? They're short.

burst of information already. They don't need to be any shorter. Are we that ⁓ like brain rotted that we can't read more than two or three words in a single sentence? And if we're getting to that point, God help us, the human race is completely gone off the deep end. And we're so brain rotted that it's completely stupid really.

But yeah, I'm sure also with Jim and I that they had that ⁓ on the Android side as well that they'll they'll doing that. ⁓ My wife's phone is summarized in tech messages for while she's driving in a car. And she said it's even got the summaries wrong more than time. Yeah, I mean, the idea behind that is is a good thing, you know, to keep people distracted, free from driving, because we all need.

⁓ All of us need intervention from being distracted while driving with our devices or our touch screens on dashboards and stuff like that. ⁓ But with that, if it's not doing its job and is doing its job wrong, then it has no place to be there.

right off the bat. So.

I'm sure not. There's some companies that are wanting to go back to like actual physical knobs instead of, you know, touch for like touch pads for like AC or the radio and stuff like that. But that's that I believe that is a fail failing initiative. Unfortunately.

Yeah, Ocho said once she had to pull over as text she got from a co-worker said they were going to kill themselves. The real tech said that they were super frustrated and that they felt like their boss was trying to kill them with all the work. I can believe that. It's just and again, it's like with AI is it doesn't get things correct. I won't have hallucinations. Believe me, I've gone through and trying different things and it's like, are you sure about that?

Are you sure about that? What you just presented to me and say, yes, you're correct. When I said, yeah, you're wrong. That never happened or that never took place.

So AI is a crap shoot. I want to see more useful uses for it. Yeah. So she was like, kill yourself. Well, shit and pulled over and here was something that didn't need such a re-re-re-re-cation. ⁓ Yeah. And I'm sure, like I said, with the Apple intelligence and was going through like my text messages and my emails and stuff like that, I'm looking at it.

before they kind of stopped it. like, well, yeah, this was not good. This was good on paper, but in practical use. No, it failed miserably.

next thing I want to look at is blue sky. Blue sky for is coming up with a lot of cool stuff lately. There there is someone has been working on a live streaming. ⁓

service for Blue Sky AT protocol. But one thing I've looked at here is that Blue Sky is going to be putting in a new live indicator for streamers and sports. like it says here, when accounts that are testing at length of live streams or profile pictures become links. And that is actually really cool to see. ⁓

I know I don't think that it is. I've been off Twitter, ex Twitter for since like 2022. So don't know. I can't remember if they have something similar to this, but I'm sure they did. And it's not as full featured, but this is actually pretty cool. So it's making it easier to know when someone is live streaming or when a live NBA event is happening with a new test that adds a red border to profile picks along with a live call out below it.

When you click a profile picture with that indicator, you'll be taken out of Blue Sky into whatever live event is being promoted. That, yeah, you're right. That is really cool. I'm hoping to get access to this. I know whenever they release it, but this is actually pretty cool. Yeah, and right now, this was a couple of days ago, back on the 19th, testing a new feature starting this week. Select accounts, you can add a live stream link to links.

to link to sites like YouTube or Twitch and their Blue Sky profile will show their live now. That's actually pretty cool.

I think they did, but a third party sort of thing or something that is only for X stuff outside of X, you needed some third party. Yeah. Like I said, it's been about three years since I've really been on X X Twitter. I have no.

I have no intention of even checking out whatever crap that they have or they're saying, this is new. It's like, yeah, whatever. ⁓ So Blue Sky is actually doing a lot of innovations. mean, this is pretty simple from the coding standpoint from someone that has no coding experience saying this. So yeah.

It seems simple and easy to do, but I'm sure it isn't. that's pretty cool to see that Blue Sky is coming up with that. And I'm actually really glad to see a lot more ⁓ live streamers and creators are coming over to Blue Sky. ⁓ Any game developers are pretty much have adopted Blue Sky for their ⁓ social media, social networking. ⁓

communication with getting stuff out there, talking with people interested in their games. ⁓ I know there's still some on ex Twitter, but it's I don't know why they're still there because they still had that belief that it is a ⁓ good way of promotion, which. Yeah. I don't believe that what at all.

So, ⁓ I think for the last thing for tonight, the back on the 22nd. Finally.

The FTC has decided to drop their case against Microsoft's ⁓ in Activision merger acquisition.

You know, two years after the fact, they decided, yeah, I guess we'll stop trying to fight this.

So the Federal Trade Commission has officially dropped its case against Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard. You have to see filed in order to dismiss its complaint on Thursday, just days after it lost an appeal for preliminary injunction to prevent Microsoft from finalizing its acquisition. That horse has been long gone from the barn and the doors are closed. The barn has actually fallen down. It's from, you know, disrepair.

from their case. And I get it. But it is just like you guys got to give it up. It's done. It's a done deal. was a couple years. There's no putting that genie back in a bottle and ⁓ stripping out Activision Blizzard from Microsoft and stuff like that. I know a lot of people had some qualms against it. And I myself had some where

to see Activision Blizzard being gobbled up by Microsoft joining like Zinamax and Bethesda. It's just, know, it's going to be the fact of the matter going forward for foreseeable future that we've already seen it. Charter is going to be acquiring Cox Communication. ⁓

I saw that is another ⁓ Verizon is taking over or acquiring Frontier, the Fios side of things. So we're going to see a lot of these companies, these big mergers just getting pushed through because of, you know, our our current regime is very ⁓ open to this stuff like that, but without getting any more political. Yeah. We're going to see some more.

more mergers, large scale mergers being pushed through hastily and without any kind of oversight into what's going to be taking place between the companies and the effects of said mergers and acquisitions. But hopefully you guys had a good night ⁓ going over this particular ⁓ past week's events over on Last Dream Tonight. I know it's a little tongue in cheek with another show, but you know, it's inspired by

And I am no, ⁓ I am not him. I do not look like him. I have no expertise as John Oliver and stuff like that. But I'm planning on going to be doing this for the foreseeable future every Sunday night. Just going over the last week stuff, all the stuff that has happened in the content creation space. Yeah, it's an homage. Any game, gaming news and stuff like that. So hopefully and

Well, like I said earlier at the beginning is I'll be packaging up doing all the editing and make it more of a podcast episode. I'll be releasing ⁓ in the coming days. Gonna be getting last week's worked on tonight's and setting up for tomorrow. So what I want to do is have at least have three episodes ready to go. So I release it to like Apple podcasts, Spotify and also in YouTube.

podcast. Yeah, YouTube podcast. So at least I have like three episodes ready to go right out the door. So that is my plan. If you haven't already, I would definitely love it if you hit that subscribe button. If you're watching on YouTube or any other place, hit follow and the thumbs up. Leave a comment down below. If you liked what you saw, ⁓ let me know. If you hated it, leave a poop emoji. It's an engagement and it works.

Definitely would love to see it. But with that, I'd like to say good night and I'll see you next week on the next Last Dream Tonight.
