What is ...But God?

A weekday morning devotional series written by Aaron Marcarelli and hosted by Chad McBeam

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. “Blessed are the gentle, for they will inherit the earth.”
Matthew 5:4-5 NASB2020
What does it mean to mourn? True anguish, not only for the ones we have lost, but also for our sinful nature. Knowing that we must first be in anguish that we are sinners in need of a savior. That is the only way we can come to be a follower of Christ. As it says in 1 John “If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:8-9 NASB2020
What does it mean to be Meek? The Oxford dictionary describes meekness as being quiet, gentle, and submissive. All good attributes when it comes to being a follower of Christ. Quiet so we can hear God’s voice through the cacophony of life. Gentle as we treat others who do not agree with us. Submissive to God’s will and direction of our lives. These are all attributes that will certainly allow us to not only enter His Kingdom but be heirs to the eternal throne of heaven through Christ Jesus our Lord. As it says in Psalms 37:11 “But the humble will inherit the land And will delight themselves in abundant prosperity.”

Mourn that we are sinners in need of a Savior. Come to Christ with a penitent heart and serve and follow Him with a Spirit of meekness. These are the qualities that we should aspire towards as a true follower of Christ.
Lord thank you for these words to us. All too often we think we need to be the take charge bully pulpit leaders if we are to be listened to. But of course you want us to be meek, mild and mournful so that you will be glorified and not us. Forgive us for our iniquities and help us to be quiet and still so that we can truly hear your voice and serve you with all our heart, strength, mind and soul. We thank and praise you always in Jesus Name Amen…
Shalom Blessings and Press In and Press On!
