If you had a morning and nighttime routine for ten years and you were able to inch forward, sometimes you're literally crawling on your hands and knees just to kind of go against the gravity, the natural weight of life and say, can I do something very small, very small that will help me feel like what Eric says progress equals happiness, even the smallest amount of progress.

00:00:23:11 - 00:00:35:15

Forward Every Day podcast. We all get 24 hours in a day to have freedom to experience joy. What is important to you? Who are you and what makes you happy?

00:00:35:17 - 00:00:47:04
Unknown
Hi everyone. I'm MaryRuth, the founder and CEO of MaryRuth Organics, and this is our 2026 Move Forward Everyday podcast.

00:00:47:10 - 00:00:52:17
Unknown
I thought that we would start the year off with me just sharing a very, very short podcast

00:00:52:19 - 00:01:00:06
Unknown
to kind of give you some overarching themes to think about if you are looking to move your life forward this year.

00:01:00:06 - 00:01:05:11
Unknown
So last year we had a lot of incredible guests and most recently on the podcast, we had

00:01:05:11 - 00:01:12:07
Unknown
my favorite doula who delivered with my doctor. All four of my children,

00:01:12:07 - 00:01:22:14
Unknown
that I think got the most positive feedback from all of you. So we're really so happy that you have enjoyed the January podcast for 2026.

00:01:22:17 - 00:01:34:05
Unknown
I really created this podcast because I wanted to have short podcasts that you could really, after listening, think, okay, I want to sit with myself.

00:01:34:05 - 00:01:35:14
Unknown
I want to write out

00:01:35:18 - 00:01:48:22
Unknown
whatever you don't usually get to give yourself attention for. So after you listen to this, I'm hoping to inspire you in a micro macro view to help you move forward with overarching

00:01:49:00 - 00:01:50:23
Unknown
that are important to you, but also,

00:01:51:01 - 00:02:08:20
Unknown
I got a question recently about how to organize your home. So the main kind of tip I'm going to share today with you all is my thoughts on the compound effect and how to organize your home, the place that we all spend a lot of time.

00:02:08:22 - 00:02:12:12
Unknown
So before we get to that, let's really just talk about

00:02:12:12 - 00:02:21:07
Unknown
your personal, your professional life and all the things that are important to you. One of my favorite quotes, which I think I had shared on the first podcast, is

00:02:21:09 - 00:02:27:08
Unknown
everyone underestimates what they can do in one year, and overestimate what they can do in ten years.

00:02:27:10 - 00:02:51:14
Unknown
When I I'm 41 years old right now, when I think of who I was at 31, it is so, so different. My life is incredibly 360 degrees different, mainly because ten years ago I did not have my four beautiful children Ethan, Elliot, Jacob, Grace. Ethan is eight years old, Elliot is seven years old and the twins are five years old.

00:02:51:14 - 00:03:11:02
Unknown
The twins are born during Covid. So even just thinking back to my 31 year old self a decade ago, not on the motherhood journey and really just starting out the business. I think at that point I had maybe had the business for two years and I was in a lot of financial debt. And then slowly but surely,

00:03:11:05 - 00:03:16:08
Unknown
the compound effect was what I use to help me move forward every day.

00:03:16:10 - 00:03:20:23
Unknown
And just to clarify, the compound effect is the idea that

00:03:21:02 - 00:03:39:18
Unknown
no small action you do is ever in vain. It is totally worth it. We only get one life to do all the things that we love, and sometimes we get discouraged because life every day, every 24 hours, there is things we didn't plan. Surprises, things that happen that are good or bad.

00:03:39:20 - 00:03:57:14
Unknown
And life can sometimes really just feel like it's overwhelming and it's pushing us down. But what I've always encouraged with my own family, my own friends, myself, and my partnerships in the business is to never get discouraged, to know that

00:03:57:14 - 00:03:59:02
Unknown
one of my executive coaches,

00:03:59:02 - 00:04:31:11
Unknown
he always says progress equals happiness. So even the smallest little inch forward, that is progress kind of going against gravity, going against that feeling of being pushed down and saying, hey, I am going to be patient and diligent and laser focused on little, little baby steps. These little micro actions that creates and take you move you forward to your macro goal.

00:04:31:16 - 00:05:00:11
Unknown
Cassie, who is our incredible copywriter at MaryRuth Organics and has been on the team for so long, she came up with the saying this year for 2026, micro moments, major year. So first and foremost, before we get into, how to organize your house is the idea after this podcast, if you can sit with yourself for just a couple minutes, you can write on paper, you could write in your time blocking journal, you could write in your iPhone.

00:05:00:11 - 00:05:27:08
Unknown
Notes a couple things that are really important to you. The macro things that maybe you want to garden. Maybe you want to go for a walk too. You know that if you walk one mile every day this year, at the end of a year it's 365 miles. Imagine if you didn't walk 365 miles, or imagine if you did walk one mile a day, 365 miles, how different your body would say thank you.

00:05:27:09 - 00:05:29:20
Unknown
And so just to sit with yourself and say, okay,

00:05:29:23 - 00:05:48:04
Unknown
let me make a short list of things that are important to me in my personal life, in my professional life, for my family, for my friends. Whatever is on your mind, it's so important to get it out and not just let it live inside of you floating all around, but to really say, okay, like, let's get laser focus.

00:05:48:04 - 00:06:20:09
Unknown
I also call it checking into your life. How can we check in and not check out? Unfortunately, so many people get overwhelmed and then they get discouraged and they kind of let life keep pushing them down and one thing that I always visualize is, you know, in the morning when you get up, whether you've slept well or you haven't slept well, you know, taking a shot of your vitamins is one micro action that will, you know, compound over the course of a year or two,

00:06:20:10 - 00:06:24:14
Unknown
let your blood work hopefully be as good as your bloodwork can be.

00:06:24:16 - 00:06:35:09
Unknown
vitamins. Mineral supplements can be deeply connected to how your body functions, how your organs function, your mood, how you feel, your energy levels. So you know that shot in the morning,

00:06:35:09 - 00:06:42:03
Unknown
and that shot before bed can really be part of your micro actions that compound within a 24 hour period.

00:06:42:03 - 00:06:58:16
Unknown
Same thing walking one mile a day. If you want to stretch, maybe you actually take your yoga mat outside so you can also get a little fresh air, get a little sunshine. But every single person is unique, and we want to really create even five minutes every day to check into your life.

00:06:58:16 - 00:07:00:05
Unknown
That's checking in and not out

00:07:00:09 - 00:07:02:13
Unknown
and just really getting laser focused.

00:07:02:13 - 00:07:05:02
Unknown
Like picking one lane for you and your family.

00:07:05:07 - 00:07:20:10
Unknown
where do you want to move yourself forward? And one of my other favorite sayings is only you know what's best for you. So really take time to also listen to your voice. Lots of times we want to listen to external voices

00:07:20:12 - 00:07:21:16
Unknown
you are your best friend.

00:07:21:16 - 00:07:22:00
Unknown
You

00:07:22:05 - 00:07:41:02
Unknown
you are with yourself 24/7, 365 so also trust yourself. Trust that you know what's best for you and that you can write it out and then start the journey of moving forward every day. And if this is your first podcast that you've listened to with us, you can go back. We have, I think like 10 or 11 podcasts from last year.

00:07:41:04 - 00:08:04:21
Unknown
You can learn more about time blocking or the compound effect, or the art of health for busy people, where I talk about positive thinking and the universal force of goodness, and chewing your food and drinking half your body weight and ounces and water and getting 15 minutes of sunshine every day. You can go back and kind of listen to those things and then create, which is the whole purpose of the podcast, is genuinely to connect with you.

00:08:04:21 - 00:08:26:09
Unknown
And I wish you that morning routine and that nighttime routine, no matter how long, how short. That's really my wish for the podcast. We said, okay, let's start this podcast. Let's help people move forward every day. Let's help them think about everyone usually overestimates what they can do in one year and underestimates what they could possibly do in ten years.

00:08:26:15 - 00:08:49:12
Unknown
If you had a morning and nighttime routine for ten years and you were able to inch forward, sometimes you're literally crawling on your hands and knees just to kind of go against the gravity, the natural weight of life and say, can I do something very small, very small that will help me feel like what Eric says progress equals happiness, even the smallest amount of

00:08:49:12 - 00:08:49:23
Unknown
progress.

00:08:49:23 - 00:09:14:09
Unknown
Which leads us into this question that I'm answering, which I got on WhatsApp from an amazing mom at my children's school yesterday. She said, MaryRuth, I was listening to the podcast from January for 2026 on the doula and birthing, and that whole podcast was about how every morning when you wake up, you're also birthing a new 24 hour period, a new day.

00:09:14:11 - 00:09:21:04
Unknown
And so the mom asked me, do you have any tips on organizing your house?

00:09:21:04 - 00:09:23:09
Unknown
She said that she's very good at time management.

00:09:23:11 - 00:09:39:02
Unknown
True story, and I'm very excited for her to listen to this. It's not a long answer, it's short. So maybe after you listen to the podcast you could journal. You know what we spoke about with personal and professional goals that you want to do.

00:09:39:04 - 00:09:51:14
Unknown
And then maybe you could also attempt to try this little hack on organizing your house. So no matter how big or how small your house is, this is my actually what I personally do to organize my home.

00:09:51:16 - 00:10:17:17
Unknown
I pick a room to start in first, so I always start in my bathroom. And I've lived in this house for four years. And so I start in my bathroom and I set a timer for either five minutes every day or ten minutes every day, depending on what I feel my bandwidth is. And I start with the first drawer in the bathroom, and I set the timer 5 or 10 minutes and I just organize, and then I stop there.

00:10:17:18 - 00:10:38:13
Unknown
Sometimes even write down what you know, where I stopped, and then the next day, you know, can be in the morning. It can be, when the kids get home from school, you can say, come help me organize this area of the house for ten minutes, set the timer again, and then I go from my bathroom to my closet to my bedroom, out into the hall, then to each of my children's rooms.

00:10:38:13 - 00:10:40:23
Unknown
And then I finally go to the laundry room. Then I go

00:10:41:05 - 00:10:57:04
Unknown
to the second floor of the house, the dining room, the kitchen, the office until I get through the whole house. And then I start again if needed. Or I do that once a year, and if I finish on month five, then I wait till January of the next year and it compounds.

00:10:57:04 - 00:11:02:14
Unknown
And it's so incredibly inspiring. It says that you will have

00:11:02:16 - 00:11:26:15
Unknown
more kind of clarity if your house can be organized. And it's very difficult, especially if you're a caretaker of pets or the elderly or you have children. It's very hard sometimes to create space to organize the home. But the benefits are incredible. And so just to think about that, like which room of the house you want to start in every single day, even if you miss a day, start again.

00:11:26:21 - 00:11:48:14
Unknown
Set the timer for 5 to 10 minutes, start organizing that area, and then work your way out until you get through the whole house. You could even do the front yard, the garage, the backyard, and then go all the way back to the first room that you started in. So this is our February 2026 podcast. Thank you so much for allowing me.

00:11:48:16 - 00:12:14:22
Unknown
I think this is probably like ten minutes to just really encourage you to reflect on where you want to go, only you know what's best for you. Figure out a morning routine, a nighttime routine, and then small little actions that you can do that will compounds to each of the things on your list, right? Walking one mile a day or organizing your house 5 to 10 minutes a day to get through the whole house.

00:12:14:23 - 00:18:09:00
Unknown

00:18:09:02 - 00:18:27:07
