Specifically, he mentioned a rock hard salmon bun and bland burger that didn't meet expectations. Now for some concerning news from United Airlines. The carrier is planning to introduce what they're calling 'Basic Business' fares, essentially bringing the unbundling strategy that we've seen in economy class to their premium Polaris business cabin. United's Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Nocella indicated they want to segment premium travel similar to how they've segmented coach, claiming this is what customers want. However, this likely means passengers will soon pay additional fees for perks that are currently included with business class tickets. This trend toward nickel and diming premium passengers is troubling and could signal similar moves from other major carriers.

Speaking of United, CEO Scott Kirby made some bold predictions about the competitive landscape. He suggested that struggling rival airlines will cut flights, leading to higher fares across the industry. We're already seeing airlines pull back on fall flying, particularly early morning, late night, and red-eye trips on off-peak days. This capacity reduction strategy could indeed lead to higher prices for consumers, making award travel even more valuable.

On the hotel front, there's disappointing news for Hyatt loyalists. Ben Schlappig from One Mile at a Time shared his awful experience with Hyatt's new outsourced call center, spending seventy-four minutes on what should have been a simple call. This follows Hyatt's decision to lay off most of their US-based customer service agents in favor of outsourcing these jobs. This cost-cutting measure appears to be significantly impacting service quality, which is particularly frustrating for elite members who expect premium support.

In international news, Emirates opened a new first-class check-in facility in Dubai, continuing their tradition of over-the-top luxury for premium passengers. The facility promises an elevated ground experience to match their renowned inflight first-class product.
