I think what you guys are doing, I haven't seen anything like it. You create a community, and that was that's awesome. And that is also something I think also is really beneficial as you got people to talk to, groups that are in it with you, and it's it's just cool. It's it's something I personally haven't seen. So you guys tapped into something that is maybe it's not unique, but I thought it was very well done, and it makes total sense to have people go through the slog with you and and and to get to the winds as well.
MJ:So I guess first thing I'm j like just a little intro like who you are life age situation or all the above.
Jake:Yeah. So Michael James Josephs, I go by MJ from New York City and 45 years old and just got married in May. My wife and I eloped. So I I come from a world of, you know, sports marketing, global, global events now to, chief operating officer of a not for profit in New York. So, my days are busy, and, you know, finding time is is very is very is very hard in my age with work, you know, being married, planning a wedding, although we eloped, which was the best thing we've ever done.
Jake:And, you know, having a puppy. We don't have kids. We don't want kids, but having a puppy, you know, it it takes a lot. So I think I I found you online just one morning is what my routine was, is to sit in bed and worry about the day with work and scroll through Instagram. And, know, I've always wanted to be, you know, healthier and I've always been active, you know, playing a play, you know, soccer, you know, stepping aside every Saturday.
Jake:So I've always been active. I ran the marathon last year, but I caved. Afterwards, nothing happened, and all the weight, all the progress, everything I did just went went went back. So, I go I go in the waves of ebbs and flows of wanting to be, you know you know, just in better shape. And I got your one of your Instagram posts early on, and, you know, I think I sent you a message.
Jake:I was I was really shocked to get a message back, and I think what was the best thing about it was you know, one thing, I guess, I'll step back to is going to all the gyms, throughout my life. You always see the the coaches and the people who are pushing you and pressuring you, and it just doesn't feel right. But the fact that you asked, how are you doing? What are your goals? Where do you wanna be?
Jake:Where do you need help? And then you left it, and you're like, okay. Well, let me see if you're you're good for this program. And I was like, oh, this is fantastic. Like, alright.
Jake:This is actually good, and it was engaging. So that's where I think, you know, I had my conversation with you, and you talked me into it. And it's the one thing I learned is, you know, I need a commitment. I need accountability, and, you know, that's what I saw. And so that's that's kinda where it led me to you coming into, you know, the group on, you know, July 1.
Jake:That's that's kind of my backstory. How how it got to you.
MJ:And and if you can, I don't know? It's quite difficult when you've come so far, but take yourself back to, like, how you were feeling and, like, what your health and fitness looked like sort of that at that time. Like, where were you at that point?
Jake:Yeah. I mean, I'm I'm not overweight. Would say I was I was uncomfortable. I'm getting to 45 and I think as I've always been light. I've always been fit.
Jake:I've always been in good shape, but, you know, I've had three knee surgeries, so that kind of puts a wear and tear. But I was uncomfortable. I think, you know, my eating habits, you know, drinking habits, nothing too detrimental. But, you know, work late, eat bad food. Wake up late, hurry up, gotta get the the training to work, eat bad.
Jake:So I was just I was tired all the time. And my new position, switched to working from home, so I found myself at home a lot. And all of a it's 11:00, I walked past the pantry and I'm like, alright. Let me see what's in here. Grab a handful of pretzels.
Jake:Twenty minutes later, walk by. What do we got? So my habits were poor. And I have gone through the ebbs and flows of like a health kick. I see what is good and I see what's on the other side.
Jake:So I was on the lull and, you know, taking naps during the day. You know, if I had thirty minutes of, you know, free time between meetings, I was, you know, sneaking over to the couch to take a quick nap. So this is uncomfortable. And, you know, my my clothes were tighter than they should be. And I think I was I was telling you or Joe, in late June, I would wake up and I was feeling sore.
Jake:I was like, why am I sore from sleeping? I'm like, this shouldn't I should be relaxed. I should be waking up refreshed. But every morning, I'd wake up and my shoulder hurt, my back hurt. And I was just I think I wasn't fed up.
Jake:I wasn't at the end, but I was like, you know what? I can do better. And, you know, I think that's what kind of, you know, I was I realized and, you know, I I kinda told myself I wasn't gonna be, that new husband, that new partner who just kinda lets themselves go. I'm like, you know, I I took some pride in myself and I wanted to feel. And, you know, I I wanted to get back to running through Central Park with my shirt off.
Jake:I think that was one of my goals, and I couldn't do that in the June. So that's I think that's what kind of how I was feeling. I think I was tired. I was run down Yeah. Exhausted.
Jake:And, yeah, I'd say on a scale of one to 10, I was probably at about I was at a four just physically and mentally. So
MJ:And when you did, you obviously, you know, you've beautifully summarized our initial interaction and you obviously took took the plunge. So when you first started, what was there anything that you were, like nervous or apprehensive about if you can remember?
Jake:Nothing nervous. I was I was jacked. I was so excited. I think I I don't know if I sent you guys, you know, I'm a planner, you know, event planner. So run your show timelines.
Jake:I built out a deck. I built out like a binder. I had my goals, you know, every single morning. I remember you shared that. Yeah.
Jake:How many waters I might have, like my affirmation, like, you know, comments and everything. I was like bang on. And that was the best thing. I was like, you know what? And I've always been one to and I'm a start on Monday, or I'm a start at the first of the month, or I'm a start at 8AM.
Jake:I was always like and at that point, I think I started with you, and it was it was, like, July 3, and I was like, screw it. We we have to go now. So I was prepped. I was ready. Nothing scared, and I think I came out I came out strong.
Jake:I think I came out probably the strongest as I probably could have. And, you know, telling Joe, I was like, Joe, I need more. I need more. You know, hit me up. And I think to the credit of Joe, he's like, alright.
Jake:Let's let's slow it down. He's like, let's build that base. And I was like, okay. So I think it was for me, it was that just that commitment of, you know, I I I put myself into it, you know, for six months. If I'm a do it, if I'm a put my name to it, and it's kinda how I I tackle everything.
Jake:And it just I I had a realization of that's how I tackle, you know, my personal relationships, my work relationship. I'm like, why don't I do that with myself? So I think you guys it it was a it was a a nice push into the deep end, which, you know, instead of sinking, was I was I was ready to swim. No. I was ready.
MJ:Nice one. And and was there a particular moment that you recall where you were kind of like, this is, like, this is actually working now?
Jake:I think I I think I put it in the chat when you know, because that started in the, you know, the the heart of the summer, you know, working out and, you know, I'm done with my workouts. You know, I went for my run. I I went for my run, would come back, do my mobility, and then do my, yeah, my workout in those days. And I go to the bathroom. I'm, like, ready to, you know, shower, and I look, and my sweat stains are are I see definition on my sweat stains on my shirt.
Jake:I was like Yes. Love it. I was like, wait a minute. I'm like, well, there's not just one big blob. I'm like I was like, I was telling my wife.
Jake:I'm like, Jill, look at this. She's like, yeah. And I think you don't realize how just much like, just the movements. And I I think just I don't know how to describe it, but just how tight and how, like, trim you felt with the stuff that, you know, you and Joe kind of set up for me. I was like, oh, this is why me he has me doing these.
Jake:This is why he has me doing this, this, this. And it because I did define the goals. I was like, you know, I do wanna be trim. And, you know, I'm not looking for bulking up, but I would like to be trim, feel good, you know, have some room in the pants. And, yeah, think it was at that moment.
Jake:And then I started paying attention to it. Now I was like, okay. You know, looking at my weight and, you know, working with you guys, and it's not just before, I'm like, just let's lose as much weight as we can. But for you guys, was it it was a lightning lose the weight, but maintain, you know, proper weight for your muscle and just for health. I was like, okay.
Jake:So seeing that every single day, every time I would check-in, I'm like, okay, I'm moving. I'm taking the right direction. And then when it started to plateau and I was like, all right, this is what they've been talking about. This is where I feel good. This is what they tried to get me to.
Jake:So a couple moments, but also, you know, like, I think I I sent you guys I I hate taking selfies and, you know, I don't have the body like you to, you know, do everything on Instagram without my shirt. Like, when I sent you that photo with my shirt off running, was like, alright. This actually feels damn good. That was I think that was the one moment I was like, alright. I've hit it.
Jake:This is it. I'm ready. Now let's stay here. So
MJ:Amazing, man. And were there any other particular moments where you were, you know, specific results, I guess, that you're proud of, whether it was a moment or just, like, reflecting now on things that you have achieved? Obviously, the marathon PB is a big one that was recently
Jake:Yeah. Yeah. I mean, that was my ideal goal. I mean, I I ran the marathon last year and just do it and fell in love with it. And, you know, this year, I wanna do better.
Jake:I just you know, unbeknownst to me, you know, I I didn't realize how amazing the workouts and the movements were gonna help me in my my running. You know? And I saw it every I think every single run since I started with you guys was better. I I I reduced my time every single run, even in my trainings. Everything was always reduced.
Jake:I think that's a moment where I was like, Oh my God, maybe there's a rhyme to the reason. Maybe, Oh, that's why. Because my hamstrings are completely unwound, thanks to the Roman deadlifts. Oh my God, the frog pose. That's why I'm more limber.
Jake:And, you know, I think that was that was a big moment. But also, you know, chatting with the community as well. I think that was a moment too. It's like, okay. Other people are going through this.
Jake:I think listening to other people in my position who, you know, are are busy and are working, but saying, okay. You know what? I actually missed a movement. You know? I I had my wins.
Jake:Here are my wins. I'm focusing on what the wins are. I'm not gonna worry about the negative item of missing a movement. And they're like, okay. You know, all of us are in the same boat.
Jake:All of us are doing the same thing. We're all just trying to be better people, have better lifestyles. And I was like, this is it. Like, you don't have to be you know, I don't have to be this ideal person that I thought I had to be. I was like, you know, this group is gonna help me.
Jake:It's okay to be okay, but it's also be okay. It's okay to be awesome, and we'll pick each other up. And I think that's what I was missing as well. Living in New York City, it's hard to make, you know, friends. The older 45 year old male, you got your work colleagues and you have a small group, but, like, having this was a group of people you could chat with and be like, you know, hey.
Jake:What do you guys think about this? Or have you tried this? So I think that was also a a big milestone for me is like, yeah, other people are going through it as well. So you're not you're not just yourself and you rely on everyone else to help pick you up. So
MJ:Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. And and just think I guess, bringing it to sort of mundane day to day life. Well, maybe I'm not always mundane, but just basic life.
MJ:Like, how has that changed? Do you think since like you first started?
Jake:I mean, other than just being, you know, I think twenty twenty five pounds lighter. You know? You know, I I wake up and it's like, you know, I I I know what my schedule is. I don't feel like it's it's not it's routine now. It's like wake up, have a cup of coffee, go for a walk, go for a run, walk the dog, do my stretches.
Jake:I don't it's it's just become part of life. And Mhmm. Yeah, I think you guys provided me you know, you guys are architects who gave me the plans, but it's up to me to build that. And I built it, now I'm living in it. And it's like, now I wanna keep this, you know, this house, you know, tidy.
Jake:I just also think, like I I think I told you it's like I knew the importance of nutrition, but I also told you, I live in New York. I love a good slice of pizza. I love my favorite tacos. I love fried chicken. But you guys were like, It's all about balance.
Jake:You're like, Okay. And that kind of set the tone. And I was coming out counting every single calorie, counting every meal, but then I started to understand I missed it because traveling and having the conversation with you guys. And you guys were like, It's okay. You don't have to track everything if you don't need to, as long as you understand what you're putting into your body.
Jake:I think that's also the biggest thing is my nutrition. Every morning, I have breakfast. I focus on whole foods, clean foods, protein. Then for lunch, I make sure I'm having something. If it's just a smoothie or if it's something from juice generation, I'm making sure I'm hitting three meals.
Jake:Before that, I'd wake up, have four or five coffees, be at work, rush out to go grab a burrito at lunch, come back, go have cocktails, then meet my wife and have dinner. So now it's like I set my day up more around my nutrition, but I don't track it as much, but I know exactly what I put into my body, and it's clean. So that's I'd say that other than waking up and doing the movements and the workouts, that's probably the biggest thing that's changed my it's just now part of my everyday life.
MJ:Amazing. And what what about how you feel? You know, you mentioned at the beginning, tired, in pain, like, stressed, moving around a lot, like, lots of moving parts. Like, what what about now?
Jake:I feel great. Like, I can, you know, bend over, touch my toes easily. I can stretch. I can play with my dog. Know?
Jake:I yeah. As I get older, I'm not making the noises when people get up. I'm like, my like, when I wake up out of bed, I feel great. I for some reason, I stopped feeling this pain I had from when I started. I don't know when that stopped, but I feel great.
Jake:Mentally, it's great. It's helped me balance all the other stresses that I have in life with work. It just allows me to stop, think, and if I am feeling stressed or there's something that has my mind, it's like, You know what? It's a good opportunity to go get my 10,000 steps. It's a good opportunity to go, Let's do a quick little movement session here.
Jake:Let's save it. I think that's what, as my work is ramped up, I've also learned to look at my schedule and preplan and look and plan my movements in my workouts for maybe later in the day when I know I need something to take my mind off and de stress. So you know, another that's thing that's kinda carried over is just, you know, I'm a planner in general, but looking ahead at what the schedule is and what Joe has for me, like, okay. I'm looking at my schedule. How is it aligned?
Jake:How do I make sure I get the best out of these activities, but also balance everything and still feel healthy? And it works. And, you know, also planning and not eating at, you know, 09:00 at night or or rushing just to feed it. Like, food does fuel the whole body. So
MJ:Yeah. And I think it's it's really interesting because you obviously you have these very tangible wins like, you know, 25 pounds down, like, whatever time off your marathon, feeling good.
Jake:But Thirty five thirty five minutes.
MJ:Yeah. Thirty five minutes. Like, crazy. Right? Insane.
MJ:But then this this kind of element of actually handling, like, your stress and your feelings and your emotions, like, feeling like you're in control of them now where maybe it's before it sounds like it was kind of a bit bit felt a bit more chaotic.
Jake:Yeah. It did. I mean, it's I I also, you know, attribute to you, you know, I think I talked to you guys. It's like, you know, stacking the wins. Like, I was stacking the days, you know, and then all a sudden the days turn into the weeks, and then the weeks turn into the months.
Jake:And it's you know, I feel like, alright. It's it's just carried over. It's like, you know, it just breeds success and a positive mindset, and that kinda set the tone for the day and, you know, getting something done, feeling accomplished, feeling good about it. And like, alright, I'm not gonna let the rest of the day go to waste because I've started out so good. So you know what?
Jake:I'm gonna bang on and I'm gonna, you know, crush it at work today too. And, you know, I'm sure my my partners and my board are happy too as they've seen a more engaging and a more, you know, enlightened MJ, but, it is. It just it it's the whole mindset. And I think as we get older, you know, I'm 45 and just the way that your life progresses and with marriage, everything, you know, dog, kids, work, it's stressful. Just being in the right mindset, being able to go to a good spot, stay positive, but have something that's going to be good for you, carry over, has really moved a lot for me.
Jake:So, being healthy, is As I see also my my dad who is going through some things, and you're like, take care of yourself because it's it's not getting easier as I get older. And, you know, if I could take care of myself now to build, you know, stack my years now so that I can be healthier, you know, in five years from now. Like, now I've set a goal to run a marathon every single year. So I think it's attainable. I think it's gonna be fun.
Jake:It'll give me something to work towards. But, yeah, I just feel lighter, more energized, and more receptive to what's going on around me. It could be down to you guys, could be down just to better sleep habits, better food habits, but I think it's a combination of a lot of things that, you know, started in in July when I started with you guys.
MJ:Beautiful, man. And I guess now moving to the what I like to call, like, the this is the wisdom of MJ from your experiences of this, right? So like, what do you feel have been maybe the game changing routines, like approaches, mind shift shifts? Like what's been your secret? Because it didn't work before.
MJ:Right? Yeah. You hadn't found it before. So, like, what do you feel has allowed you to actually be successful for so long this time?
Jake:I think liking the people. I mean, like, and Joe as the coaches, like, it's it's nice. You guys are great. You don't push. You guys are engaging.
Jake:You're supportive. It's it's fun. Yeah. That's one thing because I I've like, I think I mentioned before, going to gyms and having coaches and it's like, oh, it's like it's hard to work for someone or work with someone or be a friend with someone you don't like. But I think that was the biggest thing is like, you know, these guys are awesome.
Jake:They they have the best interest in us, and that it was it was very supportive. I think the wisdom was just like, how to carry this over, I think, now just seeing the success and not seeing it go to waste. And I think that's gonna be, you know, my biggest hurdle is to pick myself up and keep moving on and, you know, take it to the next level. I know where I wanna be. I know I think where I've gotten comfortable to a spot.
Jake:I'm not gonna go out and try to bulk up and add, you know, 50 pounds of muscle. It's like, okay. Now how do I maintain this this cruise control? So Yeah.
MJ:So let's let's let's assume that people have got to like a good position, right? And then they're thinking like, how do we keep going? Because starting is one thing getting to a good place is one thing and then also maintaining and continuing to keep it as a habit is one thing. So like from your everything you've learned so far, like what do you feel is like the ingredient or the recipe for long term success from your experiences now?
Jake:This this may sound, you know, crazy, but, yeah, I had a small dip in the program. And, like, it course, it was after the marathon. You know, a small dip where, you know, I didn't do, you know, three days of the workouts or, you know, I kind of gorged on the pizza and, you know, kinda was like, you know, I need to reward myself. Like, I earned this. But then you feel like crap.
Jake:And I was like, I no. I don't wanna go back there. So it was kinda having that, you know, that lull and be like, alright. Once again, all this the last four months of what you've put into blood, sweat, and tears. No blood, but, you know, sweat and tears.
Jake:You know, like, you're not gonna waste this. And, you know, like, that was, I think, good realization for me. It's like, okay. You can have your quick little, you know, outie moment of you're gonna sit in bed and not do anything, but you know what? You don't wanna go back there.
Jake:So I think it's just it's the mindset of just each individual person. I think I needed something I need an an own personal reset kick in the butt to say, you know what? Pull yourself up. You're better than this. Keep moving forward.
Jake:And then, you know what? It's not that hard. You put in all the hard, you put in all the good work, guess what? Thirty minutes of the movement, you're going feel so much better. It's just little reminders that not to go back.
Jake:Now, I know it's easier said than done, but, you know, I also, I like fitting into my pants. I went and bought a bunch of brand new suits. I had to buy a new tuxedo. Guess what? It's a different size than what I was six months ago.
Jake:So I think that's what's going to carry me through the next six months, next twelve months, next two years is, I think, the process that you and Joe and your program have put together for us and the blueprints and the ideas. If I'm with the community or if I'm not with the community, I've seen myself also taking what I've attributed to the group chats, the WhatsApps here. I'm taking that to my friends outside of it, and they're like, What's going on? You're so supportive. I'm like, Well, I've always been supportive, but you're like, All what's going on?
Jake:You start asking questions. I think that's what I'm also happy about is it made me reset the way the world is right now, especially in The States. Won't get into it, but having a community, talking to people, and encouraging them, and celebrating wins, It's great. And I find that doing so much more. I'm doing it with my brothers in that group text message.
Jake:I'm doing it with me my friends. And it's I think, you know, I wasn't doing that before. And you're like, alright. It is it is nice to acknowledge, one, yourself, celebrate your wins, but also celebrate your friends' wins. I wasn't doing that before.
Jake:Maybe I needed a little group chat from the vibrant people to make me feel happy or talking to a random person in Bangladesh or one in Australia and somebody in India and somebody It's funny. All of sudden the guy's like, Yeah, live in New York City, and finds out we're burrow away from each other. I love the global community and I think that's also something that I'll take from my time with this group is that, you know what? It's good to celebrate other people wins and also acknowledge yourself. Mhmm.
Jake:Well I mean, I think I think you guys need to set like a vibrant people like Run Club. You get us get everything on Strava. You gotta get people going. I mean, I think you have you unlocked a a running system here on unbeknownst. Yeah.
Jake:Yeah.
MJ:That's what maybe that's what I'm hoping from this conversation, MJ. We've got you and Gerard, who I spoke to last week, who have both broken their records massively, which is really, interesting. So slightly general, well, yeah, great question coming up. So what do you feel that people misunderstand about, like, health and fitness, like getting in it or whatever comes to mind?
Jake:How easy it is to start. You got you can start somewhere. I mean, I was I my first movement was, you know, I think thirty seconds. You know, five it took me ten minutes, and I started small. And I think it was once I realized that because I think my thing is, like, I think I alluded to it's like, yeah, I gotta start on Monday.
Jake:Gotta start it this time. I gotta start on the first. Like, no. You just need to start, and you just need someone to help, you know, just help give you some encouragement. So I think that's it.
Jake:That was it for me because once it once I got the wheels going, there was no stopping.
MJ:Right. And what would you say let's say someone's watching this, they're sat on the fence, they're and ah ing. Shall I do this? Shall I not? What would you say to that person 100% honestly?
Jake:It's a great question. I think, you know, I would ask myself, like, where do where do you wanna be, you know, in fifteen days, thirty days, sixty days, ninety days? And if you look at it and they say, wanna be this, this, and like, you know what? That's a goal. That's something to reach forward to.
Jake:I think it's just the accountability. You're gonna feel great for what you're doing. And if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out, but at least you're gonna try on yourself. And, you know, you're gonna push yourself. And it's not gonna get easier as you get older and the longer you stew and push stuff, you know, kick the can down the road.
Jake:I would say that it's a great program. You got two great coaches. You got people who are going to listen to you. I think that's also something that I appreciated is, you know, in day to day talking with Joe, he listened to me. I told him, I I can't do, you know, this one.
Jake:It was at the cross act or at one of the squats. I was like, I can't do it because, you know, I've had two knee replacements. I can't do this. He's like, okay. And I'm like, he's like, why don't you think about this?
Jake:I'm like, no, Joe. I can't do this one. He's like, oh, okay. So it was nice to have a coach who was supportive and listening. So I think whoever is, you know, gonna pick this up, the fact that you take the time to ask them what their goals are and you set it set it up for them, you're and once again, you guys are the architects.
Jake:Now it's just, you know, how do you get the person to build the home? So and everyone's gonna be different. I think everyone's going to react to how they, you know, pursue their life and their schedule. But, you know, the excuses of, you know, I don't have time. I don't I've got these meetings.
Jake:I'm busy. I got kids. I got a dog. I got this. I got sports.
Jake:It takes ten minutes to start, not even. And then, you know, it it doesn't take everyone eats just your choices. You know? Are you gonna go grab that burrito? I'm gonna grab a a yogurt bowl.
Jake:Like, you just gotta make the commitment to yourself and guarantee it. Like, if you're like me, you'll see it immediately. It took one week, I think. I couldn't have been faster to celebrate my wins that first week and then give everyone the emojis and give everyone the high five. It's great when you see the people in charge who respond to you and say, Fantastic MJ, that's great.
Jake:Or pump you up. I think then that was also things like, you'll find the community is so supportive and they're going to push you and you don't want to let them down. Like, you see them posting their wins. You're like, all right, man. I'm I'm part of this group here.
Jake:Like, I can't be the the last buffalo of the herd here. I gotta I gotta get up and I gotta keep, you know, repping this group because, you know, I'm the representative from, you know, New York City. I gotta do well. So I just think anyone who is gonna commit to this, you know, jump in. You're gonna be fine.
Jake:It's not that hard. They set it up. Yep. It's gonna be long days, but it's gonna be so worth it. And it's it's great.
Jake:It's it's I've had a lot of good moments, got a lot of smart choices in my life, and, you know, this is up there. So just reinvesting back in myself, thanks to you guys and the sport and the the the program you guys laid out.
MJ:Beautiful, MJ. I mean, like you say, we're just the architects. Like, you're the one that's done the work, and I honestly your dedication, your commitment, like, your consistency If anyone saw our mj's planner, they feel like, wow, but we'll put us. Maybe the planner is a third of the results that you've achieved.
Jake:I mean, that was that was pretty impressive that one.
MJ:Dude, like it's been, you've been amazing honestly and I've loved like you've really I just feel you just really went all in and you committed to like every part of the process. So yeah, hats off to you man because like you're the one that did this like it wasn't us. We just gave you a few systems and gave you answered some question marks as they came up. Right? Like, you had it in your home.
MJ:You just
Jake:Yeah. And it's it's great. And I I I appreciate actually the transparency you guys had because, you know, I I think I told you from there. Was like, yeah. I I'm I wanna focus on the strength and, you know, the mobility.
Jake:I'm like, I'll follow your your food and nutrition. I'll listen to you guys. But, like and you were like, great. You know what? As long as you're balancing out and you understand, but now I think about it, it's like, yeah, nutrition is one of the the most important things I have.
Jake:So it's that's that's what I really appreciate about the group was that, you know what? You know, it wasn't just forced to do everything. It's like, you know what? We're gonna balance it out. You're gonna do you, but here's how you you get yourself better.
Jake:So kudos to you guys for, you know, listening. I think that's once again, that's that's one of the biggest things is, you know, you get inundated with all these, you know, Instagram, social media, these coaches, people running. This is how you run. This is how you do this diet. For you guys to listen, to engage, you guys are investing in us as much as we're investing in the program, which was extremely you know, is is awesome and something that you I don't see every day or haven't seen throughout my years of working out and going through trainers and talking to people.
Jake:So that's kudos to you guys. So thank you for that one.
MJ:Thanks, brother. Thank you. So last question, man. I want to to close it off. What are you what are you excited about now that maybe you weren't before?
MJ:Like the few I
Jake:had my hamstrings back. I'm just I'm excited for the groundwork. It's not the groundwork now. It's the foundation now. I I keep back in my my old days, I keep referencing.
Jake:I used to be an architect or a planner, so a lot of those references. Like, now I have my home. Now it's like, how do I upkeep my home? How do I keep it nice and tidy? That's what I'm excited for.
Jake:You know, 45. I I know what I where I'm gonna be. I know what I'm doing. I've got my ideal body weight. I don't wanna be thinner.
Jake:I don't wanna be bigger. I'm excited to just, you know, have that understanding of where I wanna be. And, you know, I if it's thirty minutes each morning of stretching, two workouts, three workouts maybe a week, that's awesome. I got a plan. It keeps me healthy.
Jake:It keeps me moving. Keeps me excited. Keeps my wife happy. So that's and I'm also looking forward to, you know, my goal, you know, one marathon a year, maybe two marathons a year. Although I do get ambitious, I'm like, I wonder if I could do this, this, this, this, and I'm like, nope.
Jake:Hold on. Let's let's take it easy. So that's that's what I'm excited for. The next step is to take the the the reset that you guys helped, the mindset you helped me build, the tools, and then, you know, just take it into day to day life. So I think unexpectedly, is.
Jake:You know? You and you and Joe and this group have are now a part of my day. You know? And if I'm in the program, if I'm not in the program, you know, two to three years from now, I'll be like, Oh yeah, I'm doing this workout because this is the one that Joe and Jake set out for me, or This is what they told me to do. If I'm doing one of the movements that I absolutely hated every single time to do, If I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna curse your guy's name, but it'll bring me back to the time like, you know what?
Jake:It's worth it. And the amount of times I've gone through it and the first time when I couldn't do the what's the one? The where you take the shoulders in the back. I forget the names. But you're on your Around
MJ:the around the world. The worst.
Jake:Hate them.
MJ:Hate them. Absolute worst. Absolute
Jake:worst. And I'm sitting there, and I'm waiting for my timer, and I'm just cursing Joe and Jack. I'm like, goddamn it. These guys sorry. That's the stuff I'll remember too.
Jake:So it's it's good, and it it brings a smile to my face. And I think what you guys are doing, I haven't seen anything like it. You create a community, and that was that's awesome. And that is also something I think also is really beneficial is you got people to talk to, groups that are in it with you, and it's it's just cool. It's it's something I personally haven't seen.
Jake:So you guys tapped into something that is maybe it's not unique, but I thought it was very well done and makes total sense to have people go through the slog with you and and and to get to the wins as well.
MJ:Yeah. Awesome, man. Awesome. Well, MJ, I really respect you from for what you've done over the last few months. I appreciate you taking the time out of your day today to just have this conversation.
MJ:Like it definitely, I know it helps people find some clarity and find some motivation. So, yeah, really appreciate it, brother, and excited to see what's next for you.
Jake:Yeah, it's awesome. You guys, if anyone is ever just questioning it, just do it. It's awesome. It is worth the time. It is worth the commitment.
Jake:You won't be disappointed. You're gonna love it, and it's just you gotta you gotta focus on yourself to jump in. So once you're in the vibrant people group, they'll they'll take care of you. So
MJ:Awesome, man. Well, enjoy the rest of your day, MJ.
Jake:You too. I appreciate it.
MJ:Soon. And then yeah. Have a great day, man.
Jake:Alright, buddy. Thanks, Jay.
MJ:Bye, brother. Bye.
