ghost stories, exploring those

moments of connection between
this side and the other side.

So join me as I explore these
experiences one true tale at a time.

Welcome to Episode 8 of
My True Ghost Stories.

I have two stories for you today.

The first is about a frustrated
spirit who got called back

to this side every September.

The second is about a Zumba class and
an awesome kid who is getting things

done on this side from the other side.

And here's story number one.

Speaker: This is a story about
visiting one of my daughters at her

college campus for the first time
during her freshman year of college.

It's a college in New England which
was founded in the mid 1800s, so

it's an old school with a lot of
history and a lot of spirit activity.

we got there in the morning and saw her
room and saw her building and then she

took us out for a walk around campus.

Um, It was a beautiful campus, very old.

Generally, I am able to not see
spirits, , unless I'm looking for them.

, I used to see them all the time.

Any spirit that was trying to get
my attention, I was, , constantly,

paying attention to them.

And I, I learned how to set some
boundaries and only talk to spirits

that I really need to talk to.

But.

If a spirit is really trying
to get my attention, they will.

So, walking around this campus, I was
suddenly drawn to look up into the window

of this building, probably the fourth or
fifth floor had these, you know, uh, maybe

large, larger windows than the rest of the
floors, and I was drawn to look up there

and there, I could sense the presence
of and sort of see a woman, a woman

who looked very sad, very tired.

, I want to use the word bedraggled,
but I don't want to insult her,

but she looked really tired.

And she was looking at me.

She was looking at me pleadingly.

And I acknowledged her presence,
but I didn't know what to do right

away, which is usually the case.

I don't know what to do right away.

So I acknowledged her and I continued
on my little walking tour with my

daughter, , and waited for her.

Further information to come
if it was going to come about

how to help that spirit.

, One thing I noticed about her besides
her demeanor and her appearance was

that she looked a lot like my mom's,
one of my mom's friends from when I

was a kid who we will call Colleen.

So she looked like Colleen.

so we walked around some more.

I saw the dining hall, I saw the theater,
I saw all the fun things about seeing

your daughter's college on their first
visit and Then we headed back to her dorm.

So in the dorm, we went into this
little kitchen on the end of the hallway

and this Her dorm was in the building
where I saw this woman on a much lower

floor, but It was in her building.

So in the kitchen of her dorm, she asked
me, so mom, did you see any ghosts?

Because my daughters know me and they
know that I'm often seeing ghosts.

And, this is just like a
normal question for her.

Like, you know, did you enjoy the tour?

Did you see any ghosts?

So I said, yes, uh, actually.

I told her that I had seen a ghost.

I said it was a woman, and she was up
in the window of this building, and

she was looking out at me, and she
looked very sad, and so my daughter

got a terrified look on her face,
and she said, What did she look like?

And I said, Well, she looked
like my mother's friend, Colleen.

And then I described Colleen.

And my daughter became, very mesmerized
with this and said that there is a

ghost in this building who matches
the description that I told her and

had that name that I told her about.

, The story was that this woman had died,
, in this building and now regularly

haunted the residents of this building.

And one of the things that they
did as a orientation tour was

a ghost tour of the campus.

So, one of their major stops on the ghost
tour was my daughter's dormitory building.

And I don't know if they went actually up
onto that floor where I saw her looking

out the window, but they would go to
the door of there or right beneath it.

I actually don't know how the tour
went because I did not take that tour.

So they would go there and then they
would, You know, talk about Colleen,

and they would talk about what happened
to her, and they would talk about how,

you know, she haunts the, the students,
and she makes the shades go up, and the

windows rattle, and if you say her name,
things will happen, which resulted in

a lot of people saying Colleen's name.

So, this is what I know was happening
to this poor, tired, sad spirit.

She most likely wanted to ascend,
wanted to go on to the next crossover,

but was continually being called
back by name by new people every

year and featured on a tour where her
presence was expected by this tour.

So I felt so bad for this woman

and I must have been very,
very frustrating for the spirit

to have to live like this.

Well, not live like this.

To have to exist like this.

This was very, unfair.

I felt very angry and I thought,
you know, my first thought was I

should write a letter of complaint
to the dean of this school.

But then what kind of
a letter would that be?

I feel that you're being very unfair
to this ghost that they probably

didn't even really believe in.

Or maybe they did.

I don't know.

But I, I, My daughter said, Mommy,
please don't write a complaint

letter about the ghost that you feel
is being mistreated on my campus.

So I did not do that.

I did some research online and
here's an article I found on Emerald

Group Publishing and the name of
the article is, An Exploratory

Study of the Future Paranormal
Tourist Experience on Ghost Tours.

And the article says, Paranormal tourism
is considered a type of dark tourism,

which is currently gaining popularity,
producing a future interest in paranormal

places that defy modern reality.

Paranormal tourism can range from ghost
walks to haunted houses or hotels,

to even traveling to locations where
aliens or UFOs have supposedly been

spotted, and visiting locations where
one can establish communication,

quote unquote, with the dead.

Paranormal tourism is
not a new phenomenon.

During their own personal
time for enjoyment.

People have traveled to watch, witch
trials, search for fairies, and experience

ghostly encounters for many centuries.

Nonetheless, the popularity of this
form of tourism is increasing thanks

to social media, marketing techniques,
and the internet, all of which actively

promote these haunted destinations.

Among the activities that are part of
paranormal tourism, the most popular

nowadays are ghost tours or ghost hunting.

In an article entitled, Ghost Tours,
Marketing Hype or Spiritual Quest,

by the American Association for State
and Local History, this article says,

Many museums and historic preservation
groups have been unsure how to react

to the growing popularity of commercial
ghost tours over the past 20 years.

Some museums have tried to avoid
any connection to what they perceive

as inaccurate, theatrical, or
just sensational uses of history.

And others have embraced the idea
that and offer their own versions

of ghost and cemetery tours as part
of their historical interpretation.

In an essay by Pamela Cooper
White called Haunted Histories

of the Gettysburg Ghost Trade.

she set out to determine whether
or not a spiritual hunger

motivates ghost tour participants.

While some visitors are simply drawn to
the entertainment factor and dramatic

presentations of history, she concludes
that many individuals come with spiritual

questions or even on a deeper level, a
personal quest for validation of their

own unexplainable experiences, for
the possibility of contact with a lost

loved one, and for the greater certainty
that there is truly life beyond death.

Cooper White identifies three levels
of engagement with these tours.

One, a folklore or storytelling aspect
that is primarily theatrical in nature.

Two, a ghost hunting level to observe
and experience ghostly activity.

And three, A paranormal investigation
level that applies, scientific methods to

collect evidence of paranormal activity.

So I think the first level that was
talked about in this last article by

Pamela Cooper White, the first level
is a folklore or storytelling aspect

that is primarily theatrical in nature.

This college ghost tour was trying to
be, but the tour was inadvertently and

repeatedly disturbing an actual spirit
and preventing her from crossing over.

Now, I of course was unable
to find any research on the

effect of ghost tours on ghosts.

And as an advocate for trapped
spirits myself, I think that

this should be kept in mind when
participating in paranormal tourism.

How is this affecting the ghosts?

Are we interfering with
the spirits progress?

And maybe I am being
called to do this research.

And that's all I'm going to say.

I mean, I personally will never
go on a ghost tour because my

whole life is a ghost tour.

They're everywhere, But, back to Colleen.

What I do when I'm called to help
a spirit is I create a personalized

ritual, a custom ceremony that speaks
directly to what that spirit needs.

I get the information from my guides
and from that spirit's guides.

And sometimes from communication
with the ghosts themselves.

So with Colleen, I quickly worked on how
we can help this spirit without writing

a letter of complaint to the Dean of
the school and embarrassing my daughter.

I came up with a very specific
ceremony for allowing this

spirit to finally cross over.

And we performed that ceremony
right under the spot where they

would usually have their tours and
right under where that window was.

Where she was looking out at me and
that floor was closed to the public.

So my daughter and I performed
this ceremony and I will not share

specifics in respect for this spirit.

I was able to communicate with Colleen

to reassure her that she would not be
summoned back here by tour guides every

September and by new students all year.

And the way we could make this a reality
for her was to seal up the portal

immediately after she crossed over.

So she could ascend to her next
level and sort of get out of earshot

of any calls by ghost hunters.

Colleen crossed over quickly
and completely and we did

some quick portal closing.

I had my daughter go back on a regular
basis for maybe a month or so to

maintain that portal Seal, so that
when they called Colleen's name just

to see what would happen, she would
not hear them or even be able to come

back because the portal was closed.

Apparently there were a lot
of paranormal type things.

going on in the dormitories
before we performed this ceremony.

The shades would roll up, the windows
would rattle, people would hear

strange noises, they would hear
footsteps, all of these things.

And my daughter was at the school
for some time after we performed

this ceremony and apparently

the haunting stopped,
which I am so grateful for.

I do imagine that they are still
doing this tour, but that's okay.

Because the portal has been closed, and
Colleen has ascended and she can go on

to her next levels and get the help that
she needs on the other side, and end this

miserable existence that she was having.

Speaker 2: And here's our second story.

Speaker: This story is about one of
my chance encounters, although it was

obviously arranged by the universe
and spirits on the other side.

And the name of this story
is Mary, the coolest kid.

I was taking a Zumba class,
which was really fun.

And afterwards I had the notion
to linger after the class.

There was not another class coming in.

So there was room in
the studio to hang out.

And I decided to hang out
and stretch and relax.

And another woman also, lingered
and she was stretching and we were

on opposite sides of the room.

Both stretching, neither of
us had headphones on and all

of a sudden she goes, Oh wow.

And I looked at her and she was
obviously talking to me and I

said, Oh, Oh, what's going on?

And she said, I just got this
notification from this hospital.

And the hospital was nowhere
near where this Zumba class was.

So she said, this is really weird
that I should get this notification.

And then she said, you know, it brings up,
she just started to tell me this story.

She said, it brings up
all these feelings for me.

, and she told me a story
about this little girl.

Long, drawn out illness of her daughter,
who we're going to call Mary, her daughter

who was in this hospital for a long time
with a drawn out illness and had passed on

a few years earlier at a very young age.

. And she told me the story of what happened
and, and her experience at the hospital.

And she was obviously experiencing,
unimaginable grief over

something like this happening.

So I listened, which is what
you do when someone is sharing

about something like this.

I just listened, and I didn't
comment much, I just listened.

So, after she told me the really
sad part, she took out a picture,

she showed me a picture of her
daughter, who looked, wonderful.

And then she started to tell me all these
wonderful things about her daughter,

which is why I called this story,
Mary, the coolest kid, because she

was obviously a really awesome kid and
very active and a real force of life.

So she was telling me all about
her and showing me the picture.

And then she said, you know, But
I haven't had any dreams of her.

She's not trying to contact me.

She said, you know, other family
members have had dreams of her.

She's come to them in dreams,
but she's not coming to me.

She said,

I was thinking of going to a medium So
I had not mentioned anything about her.

The fact that I am a medium and I
listened to her say this and I had a

feeling, you know, there's something
more happening here than just two

people talking after a Zumba class.

And my guides told me to
tell her that I am a medium.

And so she finished her statement
about Possibly contacting a

medium, , but she hadn't been
able to bring herself to do it.

And I said, well, I'm a medium.

And then there was some silence.

And then I said, I guess
Mary brought a medium to you.

And she smiled and said, that's my Mary.

Our conversation
continued and I asked her,

the mom, for permission
to make contact with Mary.

so, you know, I did what I do, I
put my palms up, I waited to listen,

There was no words, no actual message.

But what I did get was this, this life
force, this busyness, efficiency, this

purpose, this sensation of purpose.

And I said to myself, The mom, I said,
okay, she's got a job on the other side,

and I was just getting this image of
like meetings and clipboards and rushing

around and taking care of details.

Um, and mom was pleased with that.

It was a very, very positive image.

And then she asked me, but
why hasn't she contacted me?

Why is she contacting
everyone else and not me?

And I said, well, I don't know.

She is contacting you.

She brought us together so I
could contact the two of you.

Now, how would you say that?

So I could bring you two together.

So that was the end of our conversation.

It was pretty overwhelming, so we
left it at that, but I knew that

there was more to this communication,
that this was not the end of it.

This was just an introduction
of the two of them.

So I went home and over the next
few days I did some meditation to

find out what What is this further
communication between Mary and her mother?

And that came through quite clear.

Although the communication
was not from Mary, it was from

this team that she was on.

That I could tell from that busyness
and the meetings and the clipboards.

they said,

To tell.

Mom, that there is some charity
or organization to start in

Mary's honor or with her name.

And so I asked the guides,
I said, so what is it?

What is the foundation?

And then Mary's voice came through.

It's the first and only time in this whole
experience that I heard Mary's voice.

Mary's voice came through and
said, She knows what it is

I imagine that this committee that Mary
was part of was saying mom has to get

involved in this charity or foundation
or whatever it was that needed to

get started and they needed mom's
footwork in order to get this started.

and obviously it was something
very important that needs

to happen on this earth.

I saw Mom again, by chance, or not
by chance, maybe arranged by the

universe, maybe a week or two later,
near the Zumba class, and I told her

about this message, about a charity
or a foundation, and I said to her,

Mary says that you know what it is.

And I told her, this is the only time
that I heard Mary's voice directly,

was her saying she knows what it is.

And I said, Do you know what it is?

And she said, Oh, yes.

And that was all mom said.

And I realized that the rest
was not my business and that my

part in this, delivering this
message to mom about starting the

charity or foundation, was done.

And now it was time for me to back out.

So my conclusion here, what I think And
what was, what seemed really obvious,

was that this really cool, active
spirit of Mary was at a level in her

progress on the other side, because
on the other side there's progress.

She was at this level where she was
working with a team to get something

very important, this charity or
foundation, done on this earth.

And they needed mom's help.

Because we humans are often called
to do the work of the angels.

You know, they need us.

The reason I call it Mary the Coolest
Kid is because I just thought it was

so cool that she and her team arranged
this chance meeting with a medium and

I got the notion to linger after class
and the mom got the notion to linger

after class and then she got this strange
notification from a hospital which sparked

this conversation between the two of
us and that was That is how it works.

And that's all for today.
