Hey, welcome to LifeBite. I'm Chet Lo, and I'm here with Adele. So thankful that you're here, brother.
Speaker 2:Thank you, bro.
Speaker 3:You know, we had talked about in our the last study about how a Vietnamese Vietnamese food is so great. Yes. But you can get the counterfeit, right? Yes, you can. You can go to Ralph's and you can get that thing that's in a little plastic bowl.
Speaker 3:It's a lime pulp. And then you'd open up that little package of MSG. Yes. And you just throw it in there. And it tastes good, eventually, like it begins to, like that MSG can actually kill Yes, it You know, slowly, but it will get you.
Speaker 3:It will get you. Or talking about aspartame, right? It's like those, that sweetener in diet Coke and all those things. It's got that like real chemically Aftertaste. It's not Yes.
Speaker 3:Not great at all. And it's the same spiritually. The enemy offers a counterfeit to the word of God. Yeah. And it can even taste good.
Speaker 3:It can look like the real Yeah. But it's not. And I think some people are confused about the Antichrist. Yeah. I think people think that he is a, just a devilish looking guy who's like out to kill everybody.
Speaker 3:And I don't think that's at all
Speaker 2:That's not
Speaker 3:all who he is. In fact, listen to what John says. Even it's the last hour, and as you've heard that the antichrist is coming, even now, he says, many antichrists have come. And what he's saying is counterfeit Christ. Yes.
Speaker 3:Counterfeit Christ. The world seems to have this peace, love, and happiness mode unless you disagree with them. Wow. Yes. And as soon as you disagree with the peace, love, and happiness, it's amazing to me how, disturbed they get in the peace, love, and happiness turns into Out the window.
Speaker 2:You know what I'm talking about? Yes, do. I do. I feel like, you know, when we're dealing with counterfeits, we're dealing with something that has the appearance of being one thing, but it's in the proof. The proof is in the pudding when you're looking for things like patience and understanding.
Speaker 2:Uh-huh. And that's where I think we go out of alignment
Speaker 3:with Have you ever
Speaker 1:had a counterfeit dollar?
Speaker 2:I have not.
Speaker 3:So I have. Wow. I actually brought a hundred dollar bill back from Liberia when I was a missionary. Okay. And it was a counterfeit hundred dollar bill.
Speaker 3:And when they put the little thing up to it, it wasn't real. I couldn't believe it. Yeah. It was like, are you serious? I looked, it looked exactly like a hundred dollar It had the paper.
Speaker 3:It looked exactly. And that's the thing the world offers. The world offers a peace, love, and happiness Yes, yes. That is not the reality of the peace that Jesus gives. Absolutely.
Speaker 3:Jesus said it. Amen. In the book of John, Jesus says, I give you peace, not as the world gives you. Now, that's hard for some people that are going through a hard time. That is.
Speaker 3:Because you, I've got this like tumult and chaos all around you, and the peace that Jesus is speaking about is inside of you. Yes. Have you experienced that Adele? Where there's like chaos all around you, but like God's given you this peace that passes Yes,
Speaker 2:I have. Especially in marriage and in life, we go through and we feel like the world is against us. But then God, as we speak to him, as we confide in him, and and and really surrender to his will for our lives, there's just a peace that you have that you can't explain.
Speaker 3:Yeah. And you know what amazes me is there are a lot of Christians on psychotropic medications There is, yes. In order to find peace. Now, I know there's a lot of conditions, biological conditions, where people need to be on medication. Yes.
Speaker 3:And I understand that. Sometimes, just like the heart doesn't work sometimes, sometimes the brain doesn't work. But I find many times that it's a quick default.
Speaker 2:Gotcha.
Speaker 3:To go on medication, it's like, I'm not thinking clearly, I've got anxiety, I go to the doctor and he prescribes me a medication to or she prescribes me a medication to help me out. I remember when my son was labeled ADHD, and was like, Get him on Ritalin. And I looked at it as a self control issue instead of a drug issue. And the last thing I wanted to do was teach my child, if you are out of control, take a pill. Yeah.
Speaker 3:Because later on in life, I'm out of control, take a pill could lead to addictions. Yes. Because everything we do is discipleship. Now, I'm not saying there's not real life ADH conditions, I'm not saying that there isn't an opportunity for medication to help that I
Speaker 2:agree.
Speaker 3:But what I am saying is that sometimes the world can offer a counterfeit for peace that Jesus only gives internally. Yes. And maybe if we discipled self control, maybe if we prayed, we would find the peace that pass understanding Yes. Instead of going the way of the world. I'm not against yoga.
Speaker 3:Mhmm. Okay? I'm not against yoga. But if yoga's the way that I find peace Yes. Instead of going to God in prayer, I mean, ream me, ream me, ream like what is that gonna do for you?
Speaker 3:Right. But our Father, it's like you go into the presence of God and it's overwhelming.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I agree. I think when we think of counterfeit, you said it, it was that quick fix. It's the microwave. Well, is gonna fix it. I don't wanna do the work to get better.
Speaker 3:Wow. Key word. Dell, I really like what you said because there is work involved. And I wanna give you something. I don't know if you know this about me, but I don't like to work for my food.
Speaker 3:So I don't like to pull open a clam. Yeah. Yeah. I don't like to peel a shrimp. Like if I'm gonna eat, I just wanna eat.
Speaker 2:Wanna So crab legs? I
Speaker 3:love crab legs, but I just went to this restaurant and they cut the crab leg in with a saw. Yes. I love crab legs, but I don't like to work for them. Understood. So I'm not gonna go to a place and crack it and the whole deal.
Speaker 3:I just don't wanna work for my food. Understood. And I think that's the tendency of a lot of humanity. We don't wanna work to get better, so we'll remain bitter. Amen.
Speaker 3:Because better and bitter, bitter is the counterfeit of better. Because bitter gives you just as much energy as better It does. Wow. It gives you just as much energy. So you think you're good, but your life is You're defiling people.
Speaker 3:You're not experiencing the joy of the Lord. And bitterness becomes a counterfeit for the joy that Jesus Christ can give you. I think of the alcoholic, and they're finding a peace because they're inebriated. But then you wake up the next morning and you realize that it's not as peaceful with the hangover That you could have experienced.
Speaker 2:With counterfeit comes regret.
Speaker 3:Wow. Great word. Yeah. That is so true. Yeah.
Speaker 3:Because I remember when I gave him a hundred dollars, I was embarrassed. I was embarrassed. I couldn't believe it. I didn't know. But now these people are thinking that I've done something.
Speaker 3:That I didn't mean to do. Yep. I agree with you. I think that counterfeit does lead to ultimate That's a great word. Yeah.
Speaker 3:Well, listen. We're thankful that you joined us, and I pray that you will understand that the word of God is something that we've gotta dig deep into. Because the enemy, the antichrist in the world, he's gonna try to offer you an aftertaste, and you're gonna feel it. You're gonna like, it's that aftertaste is just not great. But if you choose to dig into the word of God and study God's word, you'll be able to discern what's good and evil.
Speaker 3:That's what Hebrews chapter five verse 14 says. And I encourage you, get off this podcast and get into your word and start with Hebrews chapter five verse 14. And you're gonna see what God's gonna do in your life.
