Speaker 3:Grandma and I are in the Spotify studio today recording the pod. We like to do it every so often. It feels more special.
Speaker 4:And it's fun down here. First of all, you get a view of the city when you're outside, of course, this studio, and it's so beautiful. New York, Lower Manhattan really has come back since 2001 in ways that you can't even imagine. And when you look outside the windows here with all the young people and you see the vitality, it's very exciting. We love
Speaker 3:rubbing this office. Elbows with some other famous podcasters, Amy Poehler's up stairs, recording hers. Yeah. So it's a busy place. Yep.

We worked together last night, so we're gonna get into our red carpet experience. But I was also in LA for a while.
Speaker 3:And there's a lot of pop culture things we have to discuss too. There was a thing with the Jonas Brothers, which you know
Speaker 4:I love. You are in heaven with that, I'm sure.
Speaker 3:And we're gonna answer some listener questions as well. So I guess first, should we start with our red carpet experience last night?
Speaker 4:Well, that was a hoot, Kim. So you introduce it because you you know all the particulars.
Speaker 3:Okay. Well, there's this show that's going to be out tomorrow, August 15, which is called Rainmaker, the Rainmaker, and that's on USA Network. And Grandma and I were asked to be at one of the press spots on the red carpet and interview the cast from the show. And we don't get to have those experiences all the time, so it's very fun to prep those questions and really be on the carpet. And it's definitely slower at first in this experience, but then by the end, the energy was like very hectic and they're moving everyone along and you have to be ready for the next person.
Speaker 4:And some people ask too many questions on the press.
Speaker 3:There's been
Speaker 4:a couple of other interviewers where I think they were asking where these people were born and where they went to school, but it was fun. It was fun. And by the way, for those who don't know, The Rainmaker is an adaptation of John Gossip's The Firm, which was one of my favorite things from the nineties. And, you know, he writes the most wonderful stories, crime stories about law firms and how the good eventually overtakes the the bad. So I'm gathering the rainmaker is gonna be, you know, is adapted from one of those, stories and will take on the same twists and turns and good and evil, which he does so brilliantly.
Speaker 3:Yeah. And I think Milo, the actor who plays the lead
Speaker 4:He's 25.
Speaker 3:Oh, was he 25? Okay. Because it I think it was his first TV role, which is major as, like, to have such a he's in every scene pretty
Speaker 4:He said he's brilliant.
Speaker 3:I watched after the carpet, went to the screening for the first episode. And it's definitely like you're on your edge of your seat, and everyone was really good in it. And it was funny that it was like, we just talked to these people five minutes ago, and now I'm watching them on screen, which is funny. But everyone's so easy to talk to. Very nice.
Speaker 3:I feel like we can get along with anyone. So it was just easy conversation for us to have. So I'm excited to post all those clips too so everyone can see the interviews. Speaking of red carpet Hollywood, I was in LA and had meetings at Netflix. I had a meeting at Disney.
Speaker 3:I went into Apple and got to hear about some of their upcoming titles, which is exciting too. I'm especially excited for The Devil Wears Prada.
Speaker 4:Oh, Lordy Bee.
Speaker 3:But that's not until next year. Right. Right. And I just saw Freakier Friday, which Disney was really pushing. Yes.
Speaker 3:Also, I went to theaters when I got back to New York, and it was really cute. Mean, anything nostalgic that I, like, loved from From the twenty years ago. Like Exactly. It's so fun to see a reboot of that. And everyone loves Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Speaker 3:So that was
Speaker 4:you know they're harmless and they make you feel good. And that's what people need at times now. So we're right at that moment where it feels good to feel good.
Speaker 3:That's so true. Always think that.
Speaker 4:I'm glad some of these movies come out and and don't take political stands. They don't take issues. Don't do issues. They're just talking about nice, good fun. Yeah.
Speaker 4:And it's great.
Speaker 3:It's great.
Speaker 4:We need more of that.
Speaker 3:And Netflix just had Wednesday come out. Right. Which season two, which I still have to binge. But I was waiting for that for with Jenna Ortega, like the Addams Family TV show. So again, like nostalgia, fun, family friendly.
Speaker 4:Desiring that. They really are.
Speaker 3:Mhmm. But going into those offices, they were all such different vibes. And it was funny because it really fit the brand in my opinion. And you had all the Emmys up in Netflix. Netflix is like BDE.
Speaker 3:I love Netflix. Is like big dick energy. They're like here's our Emmys right when you walk in. They know who they are.
Speaker 4:Right. And they do a great job since I'm watching it all the time.
Speaker 3:Yes. Totally. I was saying to them actually, when you say, I almost feel like saying I'm gonna go watch Netflix is the same as I'm gonna go watch TV at this point. Because like
Speaker 4:More so.
Speaker 3:You say you wanna go home. Like, no, but I'm saying even the word. Like, you're saying, oh, let's go home and like watch Netflix. Well, you just mean watch TV. Right.
Speaker 3:Even if you're not watching Netflix, it's just kind of used as that terminology now, which is major for Yeah. Well, they've
Speaker 4:done an amazing job. Mhmm.
Speaker 3:So that was fun. It was, like, view of the Hollywood Sign where we were sitting, like all windows, very like Chic. Chic, sleek office. Disney is up in Burbank, so it's farther outside of like Central Probably older. LA.
Speaker 3:Definitely older. Like, I mean, it was kind of like a campus versus a building. So there's like lots of buildings on the They
Speaker 4:shoot them in those locations a lot of those films for Disney.
Speaker 3:Do they have a lot? I bet they may Netflix have a wasn't. Actually Netflix where they do the TV, like scripted stuff. That was actually separate office across the street where my Uber first dropped me off. And I was like, this is not right.
Speaker 3:So then I eventually found it. But so Disney was like a little more old school. There's like hidden Mickeys on doors. Oh, you were on And you know Disney is like I I was like in heaven with my phone just taking pictures of everything. And then Apple, it's tech, it's chill, tons of figure how to
Speaker 4:figure out my Apple phone.
Speaker 3:I should
Speaker 4:I should go out there and they should figure it out.
Speaker 3:I don't think you have to go out there for that.
Speaker 4:I I don't know. They can't help me.
Speaker 3:But I had lunch, like, in the cafeteria Okay. With the podcast team, and there's tons of people and tons of energy. So it's just funny because I feel like each office vibe the people totally who work fit what you think of when you think of the company, which I guess is a good thing.
Speaker 4:Yeah. They know their brand and they're pushing it.
Speaker 3:Otherwise, what did Zach and I do in LA? We ate a lot. Else is
Speaker 4:Too much eating, too much eating. Anything delicious? I saw the pink drink again.
Speaker 3:The Erohon drink again.
Speaker 4:It's like you're drinking Pepto Bismol. Hailey Bieber's Right.
Speaker 3:And then we went to so every time I go there, I eat bagels, which is funny because I never eat bagels in New York because I've sort of decided the LA bagels are better, which is such a weird thing.
Speaker 4:I can't be better than those Apollo bagels.
Speaker 3:Because they do the like Apollo Right. They do the open face
Speaker 4:Right.
Speaker 3:Which I like more than The whole bagel. The whole bagel.
Speaker 4:Okay.
Speaker 3:Because you can get different flavors. And so this time we tried mustard bagels, which is another one. Okay. They're not actually mustard.
Speaker 4:Oh, that's the name
Speaker 3:of the That's the name of the shop. Okay. I think they're probably made with mustard seed or something. Like, who knows? But not my favorite as much as Layla bagels and Courage bagels.
Speaker 3:If you're an LA person, you probably know these things. So that was a good thing that we tried. And then one day we were like, let's go to the beach because it was such a nice day over the weekend. I think we were the only people who go to California and were unable to find the beach.
Speaker 4:This is so sad. We drove I
Speaker 3:think because, you know, he he obviously knows where the beach is. You can look on a map and Right. And know how to get to the ocean.
Speaker 4:To go east.
Speaker 3:But it was like we didn't want just want to go to any beach or like a really overcrowded beach. So we're like, let's find these other ones that someone sent on a Substack newsletter. We drove like an hour to try this new thing. And we're like, where
Speaker 4:is the beach?
Speaker 3:There's no beach. Because sometimes it's just cliffs and ocean. Oh. And there's no
Speaker 4:There's no sand. Sand. Uh-huh.
Speaker 3:So we're like, there's no place Well, they're pretty gusted. Is gorgeous. Right. Like Beautiful vistas. But there's just nowhere to sit with a towel.
Speaker 3:Okay. So we're like, okay. This is wrong. So then we drove somewhere else, and it was actually a hotel on the ocean, but not a public beach. Oh, no.
Speaker 3:So like, oh my god. Drove around for probably, like, five hours. Which, by the way, like, driving in LA is pretty annoying. But that's all you do. Right.
Speaker 3:But like, especially when you're driving around along the coast and everything, like it's pretty
Speaker 4:Beautiful.
Speaker 3:But so it didn't feel like a total waste, but you're we were still like, how did we not get a beach day? So then the next day we went to Malibu and we tried Paradise Cove, which has been around since the fifties.
Speaker 4:Okay.
Speaker 3:Didn't love it. A little overcrowded and small, so we didn't even sit down. We looked at it and then we're like, let's find a
Speaker 4:different beach. We have the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast, by the way.
Speaker 3:Yeah. And I go to the beach every weekend in the So
Speaker 4:there's a little different angle.
Speaker 3:It's a little bit different. It's a different ocean. Eventually, we found a bigger beach in Malibu and we're able to set
Speaker 4:up that. Did you see any of the automated cars? Yes, of course.
Speaker 3:The Waymo's?
Speaker 4:That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 3:I see the Waymo's all over the
Speaker 4:place. They really? Yep. So they're really catching on out there.
Speaker 3:And Zach tried one. Oh really? And he said
Speaker 4:What does he do? You sit in
Speaker 3:He's the sitting in the back and there's no one in the front.
Speaker 4:Oh, think it's I freak me out. This is who are you gonna backseat to? I mean, that's backseat driving is gone.
Speaker 3:You will be upset.
Speaker 4:I couldn't do it. I couldn't do How you gonna which way to go?
Speaker 3:How are you gonna backseat drive if it's a driverless car?
Speaker 4:Right.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I don't know about that but I haven't tried it but I see them all over the place and
Speaker 4:some Well you definitely have to drive because you don't like to drive. So when you're in LA this is a
Speaker 3:great Well I mean I Uber but Oh right. Yeah, I think So the Ubers are not Separate connected company. To
Speaker 4:That's a separate thing.
Speaker 3:Yeah, you still Uber with a driver. Waymo is a different situation. Is that an app?
Speaker 4:Did you go on Waymo I
Speaker 3:would do? I think so. And I think you can also get like, let's say your Insta Well, I don't know about Instacart, yeah, like you're ordering groceries, deliveries, and then the Waymo will get it. Makes sense, by
Speaker 4:the way. That I get. Because who cares where they go and what happens to them on the way to your house? Yeah.
Speaker 3:But I don't know, sometimes I saw them in LA being confused. They would stop and start and then they wouldn't know.
Speaker 4:See, that's the whole thing. Aren't they supposed to know everything?
Speaker 3:But sometimes I think there's a confusing, let's say a dog They walks in stop short because they, like Right. I don't know. It's not perfect.
Speaker 4:Well, they'll get it perfect.
Speaker 3:Yes. And it's funny because, like, you know, in garages, there's, like, Tesla charging stations or, regular parking. Now we saw, like, a whole Waymo section, and there was like 10 Waymo's in a line just charge no no people just charging themselves.
Speaker 4:I tell you this is And
Speaker 3:then they go about their way. And before. Then Isn't it crazy? So crazy. Like, it's the future.
Speaker 3:The fact that like they go they know they're running out of gas and they know where to go to go charge themselves. Pretty smart. Crazy.
Speaker 4:Smarter than most of the people we know. Absolutely. They almost run out of fuel.
Speaker 3:I want to try one. Also now, all of the cars have the AI built in. Right. Or not all of them, but like Zach has a Tesla. So Elon put the what is it, Grock?
Speaker 3:His AI So into you could talk to the Tesla and say, who is Kimmerstein? And it'll tell you. Because Oh, the car is like now has that Has the ability. Has the ability. So we were testing it out, and Zach was like, who do you think it's gonna know more about?
Speaker 3:Me or you? Like, who's more Right. And I was like, definitely me. Why would it know anything about you? So he asks who who's Well, Zach his car, though.
Speaker 3:No it doesn't matter. Oh it And doesn't it tells him like, oh he works in this and this is his life. I'm like ready for it to tell me so much more. I'm like, who's Kim Merstein? He's like, do you mean Kim Miller?
Speaker 3:Do you mean Kim blah blah blah? Oh that's because that's
Speaker 4:Let him come to New York. Everyone knows you.
Speaker 3:But my Chad GBT, who's my best friend in the whole world, tells me all the time.
Speaker 4:Well, don't know. They haven't communicated to Tesla. We have to get ahold of Elon.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I guess.
Speaker 4:Put him on the podcast. Yeah. That would be a hoot.
Speaker 3:I don't think he's doing the podge. No? I don't even know if we would take the interview. I would. Yeah, we'll think about it.
Speaker 3:What else have you been up to, anything?
Speaker 4:Well actually, I went out to the beach last week and we had a gorgeous weekend on the East Coast, it was terrific. And two days in a row without humidity. Of course now we're in the studio and it's a 100 degrees outside again. Every time I come back to the city, it's boiling hot, but we had a beautiful weekend. And what happened Saturday night, went to someone's home for dinner.
Speaker 4:It was very nice. But what I loved is I hadn't seen many of the people in a very in, like, a long time. So we caught up. Of course, everybody's getting older as we all know. But very interesting.
Speaker 4:And, still, I a matter of fact, I made a toast at one point. I said, it's nice to have old friends that you still like to talk to.
Speaker 3:Wait, why did you make the toast?
Speaker 4:To the people that I was sitting with. Oh. Because they were all around me. And it was nice to see them all again, you know, no matter what because some live in different states, some live in Florida full time and they all managed to come up this past weekend. So everybody sort of got together.
Speaker 4:It was very nice.
Speaker 3:That is nice.
Speaker 4:So that was fun. And then that was it. Now back to the grind again.
Speaker 3:We also posted a video the other day about grandma hobbies after because remember last week on the podcast, was it last week? Yeah. I think so. Yes. We talked about The needlepoint disaster.
Speaker 3:Yes. And just grandma hobbies boosting brain function. Cards. And then I had tried needlepoint and wasn't so good at it and try but anyway, everyone said that I should try cards first.
Speaker 4:Well, it's very easy. Well, you're good at cards.
Speaker 3:You know? Only can ask it because you taught
Speaker 4:But that's still the numbers.
Speaker 3:Okay. The numbers. What do I do? Do I get a group of friends to play that or should I learn a different game?
Speaker 4:Well, I think I I think this fall will teach you Marjong. Okay. Which is fun. We have the sets and we'll play. You can play you can sort of do the sets.
Speaker 4:We can get a couple of more people to play with us. Mom can play. She knows how to play.
Speaker 3:Do you need four also?
Speaker 4:Yeah. But we can set the third person up as a dummy.
Speaker 3:Okay.
Speaker 4:So it's just fun. It's another card. It's another game that you play like gin.
Speaker 3:Mhmm.
Speaker 4:So that it's it goes in sequences. But you have to remember what's thrown and what's picked so that you become very defensive so you don't give the other person So even though you think it might be easy, it's a defensive game again.
Speaker 3:You have to use your Mind you.
Speaker 4:Your brains.
Speaker 3:Okay. Alright. So I'll learn that and then maybe try to get some other friends involved.
Speaker 4:Yeah. Think some of your friends who especially the ones who are having babies might have some like to have some free time. Could always
Speaker 3:Are they gonna have more free time? I think they're gonna have less time.
Speaker 4:They might want a break when the nap is around.
Speaker 3:Maybe. Just to have a little fun. Okay. Okay. Let's move on to the drama club.
Speaker 3:The Jonas Brothers kicked off their twentieth anniversary tour.
Speaker 4:Oh my gosh.
Speaker 3:How long
Speaker 1:are you?
Speaker 3:Crazy. Jonas 20 greetings from your hometown. And it was at MetLife Stadium. They're from Jersey. And I wish I knew about this concert.
Speaker 3:I guess I'm not a real fan because it was amazing. And there's all these clips that I'm seeing online. And they brought Demi Lovato
Speaker 4:Oh my
Speaker 3:god. From Camp Rock. Right. And so that was like the film they did on Disney Channel back in the day. And they haven't had a reunion in a really long time.
Speaker 3:And they sang the songs, and it was like
Speaker 4:That's fun.
Speaker 3:So good. I wish I had seen that. And they did like a lot all of their hits from
Speaker 4:You know what's last gonna happen? It's gonna end up being either on Netflix or on somebody's gonna have filmed it and sell it and you're gonna see it on television.
Speaker 3:I think they might do a Camp Rock three. Like, I wonder why they would randomly be promoting the two of them. Or the Well, they probably wanted to see how
Speaker 4:it would go over. And it evidently went over very well.
Speaker 3:Of course. I mean, who wouldn't wanna see that? It's like and they used to date, so there's a lot of layers there. And Jesse McCartney performed too. Have you heard that name in a while?
Speaker 4:Yeah. No. No. He did Not since you wear a bat mitzvah.
Speaker 3:Yeah. Well, he performed at my bat mitzvah, which I never like to say, but it's honestly a flex because he's not that relevant anymore.
Speaker 4:I don't think I know if he was relevant then. He was Are
Speaker 3:you kidding? That was, like, his prime.
Speaker 4:Oh, was it?
Speaker 3:Yeah. When I was 13, Jesse McCartney was the shit, and I was obsessed with him. And the fact that we got him to come perform was amazing. But he performed Beautiful Soul. So, like, maybe he's gonna make a comeback to it.
Speaker 3:It's all the early two thousand stuff coming back now, which is my favorite time of pop culture. So that's very exciting. Okay. Let's move on to the Grandma Report. So I found a report by UC Riverside, an article that says gossip is good for romance.
Speaker 4:For romance?
Speaker 3:Yeah. So basically gossiping with your partner.
Speaker 4:Okay.
Speaker 3:Like talking about people who are
Speaker 4:Other people.
Speaker 3:Other people.
Speaker 4:Okay.
Speaker 3:Is linked to greater happiness.
Speaker 4:Well, maybe it's because, you know, they're more miserable than you are. Maybe. So misery loves company. They're they're in worse shape than you are.
Speaker 3:Yeah. Maybe. Like, apparently leads to better relationship quality. And on average people spend approximately thirty eight minutes a day gossiping.
Speaker 4:Oh wow. I don't know if it's gossiping or maybe talking about your friends. Is that considered gossiping? Because you do relate to your partner Yeah,
Speaker 3:well I guess to other people. The question is does gossiping have to be negative?
Speaker 4:Yeah, I don't know if it has to be negative. It could be something really very pleasant. So it could go either way and then you're just discussing it with your partner. I mean it's like where were you for lunch? I was eating with so
Speaker 3:and No, that's not gossiping. That's just filling someone in on your day.
Speaker 4:Well, that's sort of gossip.
Speaker 3:No, I think gossip is talking about other people in a like Well usually it's negative. Well usually it's like it's not your business. You're sharing other people's business.
Speaker 4:Okay. I don't know. I don't waste too much time talking about anybody else because I'm really not that interested. And their lives are less interesting than our lives. But okay.
Speaker 3:Do you and Poppy ever gossip?
Speaker 4:No. We don't really gossip, but we do sometimes discuss perhaps our other friends what they're doing just in the fact that, oh, they're going here or they went to this restaurant. You gossip all the time. That's not gossip.
Speaker 3:Constantly You are being like, did you hear about this? I never Yes. You are.
Speaker 4:I never did that. I want you to tape that the next time you hear it. Never.
Speaker 3:But you always have lore. Like, if some if if we're talking about, like, if I mentioned someone, you're like, well, their family used to be this, and then they would that's gossip.
Speaker 4:We that's not gossip. You just know you know the past because you've been around so long. That's not gossip. Gossip is supposed is really the what I used to think gossip is something mean spirited that you're spreading around
Speaker 3:a rumor that you're spreading. But you're just talking about people talking about what your friends are doing. That doesn't necessarily have to be gossip. But it's talking about somebody. So I don't know.
Speaker 3:I love gossiping with Zach. Like, I feel like he doesn't wanna do it as much as I do. Like, I'm like, tell me about these people and like, what are they doing and how's their relationship? And he's like, I don't know.
Speaker 4:How do
Speaker 3:you not know? You just spent an hour with them. Like tell me what you know. And like I want to hear the tea. Like I want to get into it and talk about other people.
Speaker 3:Just I like don't know. I just like to gossip. Okay. Not like not even mean. Just want to know the information.
Speaker 3:Okay.
Speaker 4:If they're interesting people, I can understand it. If they're sort of boring, who cares?
Speaker 3:I guess. But alright. Okay. Let's do the ask grandma anything. We got some questions in from our audience.

Speaker 3:Grandma, how have friends reacted to your success?
Speaker 4:Well, I think we've talked about this before. They're very, very excited about it. For the most part, everybody thinks it's great. I haven't had one negative friend that I know that hasn't thought it's exciting. And also a lot of them, of course, I would say all of them watch us or listen to us and they think it's terrific.
Speaker 4:So I would say very positively.
Speaker 3:What pillows do you use looking for new bedding and need all the recommendations? Well,
Speaker 4:when she finds a good pillow, I'm still using Bloomingdale pillows because I use down pillows. But you know there's so many. I was actually thinking of going to a hotel brand because my pillows are sort of losing their feathers. You know a lot of Poppy likes the mixed, the down and the foam together. So but, you know, it's not an easy thing.
Speaker 4:And pillows are very, very expensive. They could be like, I went to go buy a pillow this winter in Florida and it was over $500 I said, what's in that pillow? I wouldn't buy it. I said, my pillow I've never
Speaker 3:seen that. Yes. Down pillows. Down is Real down. Real down.

Speaker 3:the And if it's, like, just molting, that's very rare and doesn't really happen because it's, like, labor intensive and much less material. So if you wanna be humane

Speaker 4:You're not. You've you are well, the problem, I am. But the trouble is you take it out, then it stays out until you go back in the room ten hours later to put it away. I can't do that. It has to go right back in.
Speaker 4:The minute I'm not using it, five seconds later it goes
Speaker 3:back in the closet or the drawer. Otherwise
Speaker 4:it gets overwhelming and I can't bear it. Because I don't like to go into a room like in the afternoon or in the evening when I'm going to bed and see any mess on the bed. That would drive
Speaker 3:me crazy. Worse. Like, I do have to do it before bed unless I come home at, like, midnight Wow. And my stuff is all sometimes I'm like, okay. I have to push it to the ground, and I'll deal with it in the morning.
Speaker 4:I couldn't do
Speaker 3:that. But usually, before bed I do it. But yes, I don't like as soon as I take something out of my closet, I'm not putting it back.
Speaker 4:I know.
Speaker 3:I'm like leaving it out. Could
Speaker 4:be a new year's resolution.
Speaker 3:But it's only August.
Speaker 4:So what? Something to work on?
Speaker 3:I guess so.
Speaker 4:That's really, that and being on time.
Speaker 3:I know.
Speaker 4:Those are the two things we can work on for you.
Speaker 3:I agree, those are two huge ones that I'm admitting to.

Speaker 3:All right. Not the end of the world. Any fall trip suggestions?
Speaker 4:Well, is always wonderful to go anywhere because it's the nicest time. It's the least, not the least crowded. It's less crowded than the summer months. The summer months, unless you're very strong, you can't fight the crowds. So I always like to go away in September.
Speaker 4:It's it's my favorite time of the year. It's actually the time of year I got married. I love fall. I love seeing the leaves change. I think it's a wonderful I love spring and I love fall.
Speaker 4:Summer and winter are great, but I really like fall and spring. So any place is beautiful in the fall.
Speaker 3:Yeah but I feel like New York City is so pretty in the fall that I
Speaker 4:don't Nothing is pretty in the fall.
Speaker 3:No but not places with no seasons.
Speaker 4:Well where is that? You mean Well a
Speaker 3:lot of the country. Like New York like only the Northeast No, has we haven't Florida doesn't have fall.
Speaker 4:Well, they have hurricanes in the fall. I wouldn't want to go to Florida in the fall. That's not their season. Their prime season is winter when when the weather's better. Yeah.
Speaker 4:You're right. The Southern states are very still very warm in the fall. They don't get really pleasant until the end of November.
Speaker 3:So I almost feel like you I'd rather travel a different time of year because September in New York is still so nice. Well, that's true. Or, like, somewhere in Europe maybe or, like, even Hawaii or like somewhere.
Speaker 4:Hawaii is beautiful. I've been to Hawaii twice.
Speaker 3:I've never been but I
Speaker 4:It's very beautiful. It's a beautiful spot. That's a great place for a honeymoon.
Speaker 3:I think honestly it's so easy from LA so maybe next time I'm there because it's only like a few hours.
Speaker 4:Okay.
Speaker 3:Do you have marriage advice? What do you think is the number one reason for divorce? Money.
Speaker 4:Money and then number two would be sex. Money because unless you you know, after the the butterflies and all that, the chemistry wear off within a year. All of a sudden, you have to pay your bills and you wanna do things. And if you can't afford it, that becomes a major bone of contention. So that money is absolutely number one.
Speaker 4:And two would be compatibility sexually. And that really is only in the beginning, I would say the first five, ten years. Once you get older, you've sort of figured out what how to be compatible, and sometimes you're never compatible. So I think those are your two and then family probably gets in there on number three, where you have, you know, dislike of in laws or or siblings or whatever, and that becomes fights. But you know when you marry a different person, not somebody out of your family naturally, you're not marrying anyone in your family, you have to take on a new set of standards, new likes and dislikes and you sort of have to compromise.
Speaker 3:Think Or it could be a great opportunity. Maybe some of the things they do are better than how you opening a Well
Speaker 4:of course opening doors. Well I think when you go in a relationship no matter what kind of relationship things should open up become better than it was before because you've got two minds working on a problem or on a
Speaker 3:No but you do have to compromise things like you can't be as selfish with everything. Right. Then it's like it could be not as good. Well you might not like it as much.
Speaker 4:Right. But you have to do it because that's to make your partner happy if it's something that's not really that important to you. Mean, you know, what you find out in a long term relationship is it's not that important if you like chicken or you like meat. You figure it out or you'll eat vegetables. You know, it's it's all about compromising.
Speaker 4:But there are basic things on the top. And I was listening to, you know, my favorite person that I listen to and I hear him all the time
Speaker 3:on You Instagram is Kevin can't bring it up every episode.
Speaker 4:I love him.

Speaker 4:I wish we could. I love this guy. He comes out with the best comments about marriage. And he's Why

Speaker 3:Has to go with the last name, but I
Speaker 4:mean, I sort of think, I'm not saying you have to have the normal Susan or Marriage or whatever or Alex or whatever, but don't go out there on outer space with these people. You know what everybody, Moon. Moon. Moonriver. Star already getting traditional.
Speaker 4:Good. Traditional. I think the name Star is pretty.
Speaker 3:I kinda like the name Star. I Unless it do sounds like a hooker name or something.
Speaker 4:No. It doesn't. Well, it could be a burlesque name too, but but it's a pretty name. But anyway, I think that people have to know that that name has gotta go through their whole lives. Yeah.
Speaker 4:It's not only when they're three months old and look adorable.
Speaker 3:But I wonder if it's even chic now to name something weird. I wouldn't say those are chic as much as those are nontraditional names. But maybe it's chic to be traditional. I wonder what it's chic to I don't It's I'm
Speaker 4:naming it. And course, I'm coming from a from a tradition. I think a lot of traditions have the same feeling. I think it's nice to name your child after somebody in your family who's passed. It's a continuity.
Speaker 4:Mhmm. I love that. I mean, it doesn't have to be
Speaker 3:Or the letter.
Speaker 4:Or the letter. It doesn't have to be the exact name. But just to know that you were thinking of that person and the the the family keeps going and progressing. I think that's sort of I like it. I think it's nice.

Speaker 4:too. So but, you know, everybody has a different thing about their children. I mean, what they do. I've gotten a lot of conversation about this parenting, this gentle parenting. Oh that came up at the dinner party I was at.
Speaker 4:Somebody said your granddaughter is crazy.
Speaker 3:Promoting gentle parenting?
Speaker 4:And it was a psychologist who said it.
Speaker 3:Wait, did she listens? Listened
Speaker 4:Yes. To the listened and she said, There's no way she's gonna gentle parent once the kid is walking across the street. The car is coming.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 4:That's You're gonna so grab her by the collar and pull her back and say, Do you think you should go in front of that car? She used that as She an did a
Speaker 3:funny Well so in Freakier Friday, Lindsay Lohan's character has a 15 year old or whatever it is. And you could see that she's also in LA, so she's a little bit more like Well, gentle parenting. Gentle parenting. But she kind of took that on where she was trying to be like, How do you feel right now? She got suspended.
Speaker 3:Right. She was like, How do you feel right now? And she goes, Sorry. That's my sister wasn't on like, that my sister wasn't being a good person. And then they started like fighting.
Speaker 3:And then then she had to go revert back to like that you're grounded. Right, right, exactly. So I don't know. People make fun of it, but
Speaker 4:Well, you don't make fun of it when you're talking about it. But when you're in real life, you're gonna make fun of it.
Speaker 3:We'll see. Have lots of time. Anything else?
Speaker 4:No I think you covered a lot today and I'm hoping everybody survives this last heat wave hopefully by the middle of we're almost in the middle of August. We are in the middle of August and we only have really two more weeks of summer so I like it to gradually get a little cooler. I'm not a lover of the 95 degrees. Me that's too hot. It's awful.
Speaker 4:And it's killing my flowers. My poor flowers have just shriveled and died.
Speaker 3:By the way, one of the questions I skipped over was your favorite flower.
Speaker 4:Well it was the hydrangeas before they all died around my entire house. No, I love roses. I love all flowers.
Speaker 3:You love peonies.
Speaker 4:Oh, I love peonies. But that's in May. Oh. And you get that exactly for two days. If you close your eyes, you've missed the peony season.
Speaker 4:I adore But do you
Speaker 3:have things in your apartment anytime? Well, yeah.
Speaker 4:But they don't come from I'm sure they come from Hawaii or someplace else. Don't grow them
Speaker 3:this anywhere is around in the flower store they have all the flowers.
Speaker 4:But those are all brought in. Look at all the tulips they bring in from Amsterdam every year. Yeah. The tulips are somewhat raised here but not like the ones that they sell in the stores. All come from overseas.
Speaker 4:They ship them overnight frozen.
Speaker 3:Oh, I guess so.
Speaker 4:Yeah. That was a very interesting trip, Kim. That's a nice fall trip, Amsterdam. And you go Oh, yeah. You don't see the tulips now, but it's a beautiful trip to do around the canals and to see the Anne Frank House and all that and and and the wonderful different the pastries there are fabulous and the museums in Amsterdam are just just beyond.
Speaker 3:Well, went on my teen tour when I was 14 and I remember loving it, but I think I'm due for another I think you trip need another trip.
Speaker 4:It's an easy trip. It's a very easy trip. Three, four days in Amsterdam is more than enough. You can attach it to to something along with it. Yeah.
Speaker 4:But it's a very pretty city and lovely people.
Speaker 3:I don't know. I feel like when I'm traveling so much for the weddings that I have Well, that's true. It's almost like why would I also make a trip No. When I know I'm already going on all these trips?
Speaker 4:Yeah. Well, right now you're in that moment.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 4:Right? I'm talking about the people who
Speaker 3:are No. I'm not going to eat weddings. Amsterdam. Like, that would be cooler than the places I'm going. But
