What is up, everybody? Ryan ATX Metal Podcast, back again with another podcast. Today we have Silent Haven, a brand new band to me, from what I understand, a brand new band all around. So this is going to be a, you know, an exploration of Silent Haven, who they are, where they're from, how we got to where we're at, the new music that they've released, and also the song that we played on the Texas Takeover.
So guys, thank you guys for very for jo thank you guys for joining me. Sorry, I'll get my words right here. I've had a few mimosas. I just came from brunch with the wife and the kids, so we're gonna have a little fun today. introduce yourself, where you're from, who you are, and what you do in the band, and then we'll just go from there.
Silent Haven (00:48.356)
Alright, cool. Thanks for having us. I'm Brady. I play bass and I handle all the video work that Silent Haven puts out. My name is Noah. I'm from Corpus Christi, veteran Army. I bring nasty sounds to the band, a little bit of cleans we're working on, you know, but as far as like building stuff, that's like my aspect for the band. So like studio if we need to build like something for the set for Brady, I'm the guy for it. So
Antonio. I pretty much handle all the the studio work that we do in terms of recording, engineering, mixing and also guitar or lack of guitar playing there is sometimes, but I handle that. My name's Matt. I'm the drummer for Silent Haven. I'm also Antonio's legal guardian.
RYAN RAYLE (01:42.466)
Fuck, I really hope that's true, but if not, that's that was that was a hell of a opener, dude.
Silent Haven (01:44.218)
No, but since joining the band it's been a fun experience. I guess I was the last piece of the puzzle. But we've had a we've had a good run and we're still having a good journey through this band that we've in music were wanting to share. But yeah.
RYAN RAYLE (02:06.215)
only thing if you can just bring the mic a little bit closer to you since you guys aren't rocking headphones. Yeah, about three fingers. About three fingers. yeah. Well, man, thank you guys very much. I really man, the the legal guardian thing threw me for a loop because we always have a band ad, right? You know, there's there's usually a band ad. So you know, now we got a band guardian, right? Bother it, man. Well, so the way that I actually don't remember
Silent Haven (02:21.89)
Yeah I'm this is your band dad, yeah. That's Padre Matt. That's Padre Matt.
RYAN RAYLE (02:34.667)
The ini it had to happen on Instagram because that's basically where I live and breathe these days. And the way that I met Silent Haven was through their real ones track that they dropped with the scary movie intro. That one, I mean, i if it's one of those iconic samples in in my opinion. And I was just curious if you guys we'll we'll we'll get into all the music, but I just want to let you guys in any way that you can or any way you want to introduce like
Silent Haven (02:39.906)
Sure, as do we.
RYAN RAYLE (03:03.553)
who Silent Haven is. Let's let's let's get a little background, a little context to who we're talking to today.
Silent Haven (03:09.422)
Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. So we're Silent Haven. from Corpus Christi, Texas. All of us live here and we're all you we're all from most of us from here. I believe Brady's from Houston. but we're all here from Corpus. Silent Haven started as a project about two years ago. It was just kind of me and the you know, doing the bedroom thing, just doing the riffs and making little pre pro and demos and all that. And me and Noah go way back. I've known him since I was a little kid pretty much. So we've always had a a music connection. I've always wanted to do projects. So we ended up kinda
RYAN RAYLE (03:38.7)
Okay.
Silent Haven (03:39.508)
going back and forth with just little demos and eventually just started, you know, rolling out song after song after song and then we ended up kinda, you know, realizing, okay, we need a band. You know, we need people to be involved. And we also knew Brady more friends. We don't have friends. We're metal musicians. We don't have friends. That's true. But we also knew Brady
RYAN RAYLE (03:53.023)
We need more friends, okay?
Right.
It's true. Who was that, Brady? man
Silent Haven (04:07.214)
Ha ha.
Ha ha.
RYAN RAYLE (04:11.637)
It was that was probably most that was probably one of the most realist moments on the buttons. It's true. man.
Silent Haven (04:17.625)
And that and that's the and that's the thing, man, you know, not to to digress, but like when it comes to us, you know, we we try to also be the same people you see off stage and on stage. You know, we don't wanna be obviously you have to look a certain way for being a band if you wanna you have your image, but we're not gonna put on this yeah, we're not gonna change our identity just from being in a metal band, like we're this tough dark guys, like we're we're idiots, we joke around, we just as you could tell, yeah, we're we're not gonna
RYAN RAYLE (04:21.93)
No.
RYAN RAYLE (04:34.197)
Right. Your persona.
Silent Haven (04:45.527)
you know, sell ourselves short, we're still gonna be real with you and everyone that comes up to us at a show, you know what I mean? 'Cause we like to make those connections with people 'cause at the end of the day, you know, that's that's what matters is that.
RYAN RAYLE (04:56.237)
Bro, Matt, I do I've got a perfect merch idea that I've never seen before. You know how you guys I don't know. I haven't seen it much at merch tables, but you get you join like a email list, right? You jot down bro, at your next show put be my friend, a friends list. Like a legitimate friends list. I don't even need your just write your name. Just you wanna be my friend? You wanna be silent haven't friend? Dude.
Silent Haven (05:22.829)
Yeah.
RYAN RAYLE (05:25.918)
Excellent marketing right there.
Silent Haven (05:27.982)
Yeah, there's there's gonna be there's gonna be about tens of people signing up for that. That's right. That's right.
RYAN RAYLE (05:31.243)
Hey, 10 tens are better than none. I'm just saying, like I I currently only have about 14 listeners on average that download this piece of shit. But you know what? Shout out to the fourteen. You know what I'm saying? Man, fucking segue. Fucking beautiful. But man, go ahead. Sorry.
Silent Haven (05:39.066)
Shout out to the ones the real ones, bro. Yeah, the real How to throw it in there.
Yes. But but to add back to the conversation, we've we've known Brady, you know, in the scene doing video work for other bands. So we eventually showed him the music. He he liked the same st likes the same stuff and he was down imm immediately like, Hey, I'll do it, you know, I'll play bass, you know, hopping on bass. Again, we start kinda going back and forth. I've also known Matt, me and Noah have known Matt for years, same thing. We we were on the scene together, you know, when you know, when I started, I'm twenty one, I'm the youngest out of the group, so you know, I was real coming into the scene.
and they kinda me they mentored me growing up and you know more when you were nineteen. Yeah, but even when I was in the scene I was like fourteen, fifteen, playing at the little bars.
RYAN RAYLE (06:22.768)
you're so you're twenty one now. So when this was all forming you were nineteen.
RYAN RAYLE (06:29.985)
Okay.
Silent Haven (06:32.203)
Yeah, Antonio was little Asian persuasion, like small, skinny little guy with this beautiful guitar and then we're like he okay, so we put they would like set him up on the stage and everything and he would do his solo debut basically, like his tracks instrumental wise. And you're like, Okay, cool, you know some new, you know new skill coming up and then you just see him start shredding and ripping, I'm like Yeah. I was like, Bro, you're like
RYAN RAYLE (06:53.837)
You're like, wait, hold on. Well hold on.
Silent Haven (06:58.829)
When you're like gifted, you're gifted. You know what I mean, bro? Like it's it's c crazy, dude. So from there we were like, dude, you gotta like
You gotta make something happen, bro, like for sure. And he just I mean, he's been skyrocketing it with it since bro, and I feel like he's just been going up and up and up, so it's been really like a blessing. you know, to see his musical endeavors from where he was at when he first came in to where he's at now. Yeah, I mean it's a blessing, dude. So I mean it's really like cool for us to see that, you know. So, I mean it's it's all really cool, man, seeing like where everybody's musical endeavors are going. Like Brady had done a project,
RYAN RAYLE (07:08.437)
You gotta put it together.
Silent Haven (07:36.534)
was a project you had done? You you were in another project for a short time. Yeah, I kinda I've been weaved in and out of the metal scene my whole life. more on the media side, you know, I
RYAN RAYLE (07:47.277)
This is Brady on the mic, by the way, for those listening.
Silent Haven (07:48.59)
This is Brady on the mic. yeah, the I was kind of weed in and out of the metal scene just by video, bands would hit me up, you know, they would see me at the show with a camera and I'm a filmmaker naturally. I went to film school, I have a bachelor's degree in filmmaking and so I kind of brought that to the metal scene 'cause I I've listened to yeah, yeah, yeah. I've listened to metal my entire life. And so I was like, I bet you there's a way I can translate my film knowledge into
RYAN RAYLE (08:03.565)
No sh really?
Silent Haven (08:14.553)
making band videos and so I met Noah Antonio when they were on a different project and at the time I was in kind of like a a real garage band where it never left the garage, you know? Like we we we hung out, we just jammed and that was it. We didn't put music out and I played bass just in that
RYAN RAYLE (08:16.477)
Absolutely.
Silent Haven (08:33.291)
group just to hang out. And so whenever they hit me up, they actually hit me up to take photos of just Noah and Antonio. They were the only ones that were Silent Haven. So there are photos out there of just them two stated as the band. they're not on our page, but they are out there. Like there were photos taken of just them two and when they came to me, I believe they they put a post out for a drummer.
RYAN RAYLE (08:46.135)
Dang.
Silent Haven (08:57.749)
And you know, I'm friends with them. So I just made a a dumb post and was like, I don't play drums, but I play bass, lol. And and they immediately put me in a group chat and were like they were like, yo They were like, yo, like, do you really want to play bass? Like, here's six songs, our first show is in three months, like, and so it it kind of just formed naturally, really, like there was never really like a whole let's hang out and see how we merge.
RYAN RAYLE (09:16.873)
RYAN RAYLE (09:23.853)
That's yeah, 'cause I know that I know that band dynamics are are are pivotal. You know, they they they if if you don't have the the I mean, they're ca obviously everybody has a different personality and everybody comes from a different walk of life, but when you're in s I mean, you guys are literally inside what I'm guessing is like a living room or something. Yeah.
Silent Haven (09:31.916)
Absolutely.
Silent Haven (09:47.277)
Yes, Brady's living room. Yeah, we're just at his house.
RYAN RAYLE (09:49.835)
Yeah, so you guys like you like you have to welcome each other into each other's homes, you have to go on tour together, you gotta be so so the band dynamics, the fact that it just kinda so fluidly formed, I think that's you know, I think that's pretty pretty admirable, honestly.
Silent Haven (10:03.641)
And that's the the cool part about, you know, I guess our little collective man is that we're all friends at the end of the day. Like we're not ever when we're together, it's not always band things. We'll hang out, we'll drink, we'll we'll barbecue. Like yes, like like I said, we practically like I grew up knowing these guys, you know, so they're family to me just like anyone else. So, you know, it helps also that, you know, being in a band together. You know, 'cause I know there's some bands where it's like, yeah, that's my bandmate, but like, you know, they would never see each other outside.
RYAN RAYLE (10:32.745)
Right.
Silent Haven (10:33.594)
side of that. Like we would gladly just, hey, you want to come over, chill? Yeah, I'm down. Let's do it. You know what I mean? and it was it was cool how it rolled out 'cause like you said, there was no like official like, yeah, let's let's try him out. Let's audition. Let's just, hey, wanna do wanna do the thing? You down? Cool, I'm down. We'll see how it goes. And same thing with Matt. He was just like, hey, I'm I'm down, let's do it. And we ended up kind of pulling him in in a funny way because he's his other band, One Death, they're from San Antonio. They're another metal band.
RYAN RAYLE (10:46.123)
Right.
RYAN RAYLE (11:00.46)
All right.
Silent Haven (11:02.986)
That was that's his full time thing and I like, Hey, you wanna try out? And he's like, man, you I I got a lot of stuff going on, pretty busy and then eventually starts jamming with us and he hasn't left
RYAN RAYLE (11:12.908)
Hey, I will say drummers, if you're not in it the average right now, the drummers that I talk to are in an average of three projects. Average. What's your what's your what's your body count, dude?
Silent Haven (11:25.528)
So like s so that's another topic for later. Yeah, my like podcasting it's over. Yeah, so as of bands right now, I've like he was saying, I'm in one death. we're like a power metal thrash band. But for this band, you know, I already like he was saying
RYAN RAYLE (11:29.622)
For bands. For band to specify, ladies and gentlemen, for bands.
Sa that's that's podcast after dark kind of shit.
Silent Haven (11:52.073)
Noah and Antonio and I we tried start we tried doing another project maybe about in twenty nineteen or twenty twenty. Or maybe twenty seventeen. I don't really remember. It was it's yeah. And I know they don't even know but yeah, just jamming with them and you know the
RYAN RAYLE (12:01.163)
Oof.
RYAN RAYLE (12:04.919)
You could just ask they're right next to you.
You literally could just skip Google and just ask fact check number one and two
Silent Haven (12:21.068)
connection and everything, you know, like he was saying, whether it's just saying, Hey, what's up in text or getting together or having band practice, you know, we're always gonna we have that mutual connection of friendship rather than just bandmates. You know, which which is pretty cool.
RYAN RAYLE (12:35.191)
Nice.
Well, I can I can tell I mean one I was actually talking to fuck, was it my therapist? I don't know who I anyway, I've been told that I have a superpower and it's to be able to talk to strangers as though my they're my friends. And I feel like, yes, I am a very I'm a chatty Kathy, I'm a social butterfly, I'm a Leo if anybody's into horoscopes. but I think that being able to just have conversations and share a mutual
engagement on a human level is is it's foundational, right? You can't you can't go through life, you know, by yourself. You can go through life with a small circle. You know, I'm I'm more of a bigger circle kind of person. But you know, when it comes to, you know, again, band dynamics, you know, having that that that mutual understanding of like, hey, this is just we're we're jamming, you know, we're barbecuing, we're chilling. And I feel like that's when the that's when the fucking
Silent Haven (13:30.932)
We're chillin'.
RYAN RAYLE (13:35.863)
Good stuff comes out. Which by the way, you you guys got some good stuff. I you know, just as as a fan, not you know, I'm not trying to like you know stroke your ego, but it's it's I personally plus like I said earlier before we record, I played for my wife and she's in and she's like not your target demographic. So, you know.
Silent Haven (13:37.91)
Yeah, dude. Thank you.
Silent Haven (13:54.201)
That's awesome, dude. That's really sick. It's that's what we've noticed a lot, man. And I guess to add to that real quick before we move on, like when it comes to like the shows, you know, we always try to stick around after to talk to the bands that we're playing for or that played before us. Because obviously we have a lot of friends in the scene already that are, you know, playing on the same bill, but when it's like a incoming band, whether it's from an out of town or another state, we always like to stick around and, you know, just make friends and we've done that. You know, we and we talk to them and when they come down, hey, you wanna play a show together? Yeah, let's do it.
RYAN RAYLE (14:06.828)
Mm.
RYAN RAYLE (14:19.744)
Yeah, show some love.
Silent Haven (14:24.154)
You know what I mean? It it's we we like to do that because we don't like to just be the band that rolls in and rolls out after our set. We like to make friends or buy them a beer or whatever. Just something that kind of establishes like, hey, these guys actually like care about what they're doing. You know, they're not just here to play and you know, we're here we're here to hang out. Yeah, we we care about our community a hundred percent, dude. I feel like that's like without them, I mean what really are we? You know what I mean? Your teamwork makes the dream work and everybody's a part of the team with that, you know what I mean? Inside of being
RYAN RAYLE (14:29.162)
Yeah.
RYAN RAYLE (14:37.238)
Right.
RYAN RAYLE (14:40.724)
It's it's a it's a community, right? It's a community.
RYAN RAYLE (14:51.958)
Mm-hmm.
Silent Haven (14:54.104)
the music and the people that support it. So I feel like, you know, to make the full circle, you know, everybody plays a part. Hello.
RYAN RAYLE (14:59.544)
this is no this is Noah, by the way. Sorry. I keep forgetting that we're watching this happen real time and and this is also like an audio podcast. Sorry, go ahead. They'll know your voices soon enough, the more that we you just making sure everybody, you know, it's on the same page. Trying to keep trying to keep it nice. Man, but so let's get into the music. Now that we kind of know who we're talking to and how we got here,
Silent Haven (15:06.642)
Yeah yes sir
Silent Haven (15:16.374)
Yeah, yeah. For sure.
RYAN RAYLE (15:26.92)
Let's we'll just we'll just start with the real ones because that's how I was introduced to Silent Haven and that's the one that we played on the Texas Takeover, Shameless Plug. If you are a Texas band and you have new music, old music, demos that you just backburn, I don't care. I want it. I want all your music and I'll I'll pay for it. You know, I got I got some spare change rolling around.
Silent Haven (15:46.898)
And thank you for paying for real ones by the way.
RYAN RAYLE (15:49.866)
Yeah, absolutely. And I'll okay, let's preface this. I'm pretty sure I asked for it for free in the beginning. Yeah.
Silent Haven (15:54.592)
You didn't You did and I w I'm so bad at responding, bro. They I've been you've been talking to me, Antonio the whole time. Like I I'm always carrying so yes, I pretty much me and Brady are logging to the soldiers with posting, but I'm normally the one like if I'm texting it's normally me, you know, talking so sorry if I can't spell. Yeah. Yes, bro. But yes, I'm sorry if if I took forever because I remember you're like, I bought it and I like, damn, I feel like an ass
RYAN RAYLE (16:01.117)
good. Okay, great. I'm always curious who I'm talking to.
RYAN RAYLE (16:09.194)
Yeah.
No, it's okay. I fat finger everything and I'm just looking at it like with my broke ass eyes, like, is that a B or a D? gross.
RYAN RAYLE (16:22.666)
No, no, no and and that's you know, and actually I had a friend in here the other day that was guest hosting and he said that off mic, he was like, Man, I really think it's, you know, not admirable. Com well, I forget the word to use. He he's like, I think it's great that you pay for the music, even though you can get it for free.
Silent Haven (16:36.683)
mean i I mean it it just shows, you know, you like like you said, you want it. You know, you're not you know 'cause you have to, 'cause you want to, you're out of your own pocket. Like that that means the world to like anyone, you know, whether it's fifty cents or a dollar or five dollars, whatever. Change, change, trying to make a difference. Yeah. Yeah, dude. That that to me that's that's everything. But with real ones, man, so I guess the funny thing about that song is it wasn't written
RYAN RAYLE (16:40.33)
Yeah. I
RYAN RAYLE (16:48.044)
I was gonna say, man, hey, change is change, right? You had you stack it somehow.
Silent Haven (17:02.665)
I guess with a purpose at first. It was kinda just an idea. I was like, I was bored one day, you know, I was like, L let me try to cook up something, right? You know, just grabbing a sample. let's sample scary scary movie.
RYAN RAYLE (17:12.15)
I was gonna say before you before you go for it, I'm a sample whore. I love, love samples. my god. It was cheers.
Silent Haven (17:17.254)
That was our first time doing that.
We were just like, let's go for it. And we're like, Scary movie, that's a good one. Cheers to that, yeah. And so we gr we grabbed the, you know, the famous Scary Movie Two Nike basketball scene. You know, it's always everyone knows it when they hear it, you don't even have to really explain. And I ended up writing in, showing them and they were like, dude, this is this is sick, it's hilarious, you know, and we we just kinda sat on it. We we never had any intention of really even dropping it or probably finishing it. And then around that time is when they announced Scary Movie Six We were like, Yo, like this is fake, like this
RYAN RAYLE (17:29.108)
Mm-hmm.
RYAN RAYLE (17:47.052)
You're like, play.
Silent Haven (17:49.29)
This is destiny, bro. We have to like wrap this up. And so we literally it's such a short track. It's meant to be just for that purpose. Just here's a track for the movie. Yeah. It's it's it's super
RYAN RAYLE (17:55.767)
Yes. It's like it's like two and change.
Silent Haven (18:02.418)
Different for what we normally do. Like it's very like very simple rhythm. Yeah, it's more fun. It's more of a silly song. There was really no like this song's gonna be about this. That's why we called it real ones, 'cause like real ones know what that is, you know. That's always been the track since it's been demoed. It was called Real Ones 'cause we just got that vibe off of that. Like if you're a real one, you know this.
RYAN RAYLE (18:07.499)
Yeah.
RYAN RAYLE (18:20.329)
man, so the so the demo name made it to the final name 'cause I know there's always like, you know, working title.
Silent Haven (18:23.583)
Yeah. It they they typically do actually. A lot of the songs, you know, we try to s it's you know, with the exception of some others, but for the most part, like we most of the demo names were already like set in stone for the most part. But yeah, with real ones we just wrote it and then one day we all got together at my place and we're like, Hey, let's just
Let's drop some vocals on it. Let's just d do something. And so we ended up, you know, hopping on the mic on this very mic exactly, you know, just in the room and Noah spit for a little bit and then at the end we're like, We need something hard to go out. Like this is just such a stupid song. How much more stupid can we make it? So we threw like that trap, you know, funk style beat at the end and just to close it out. And we just now started not to run too. No, no, it's not.
RYAN RAYLE (19:06.294)
Just that heavy. I'd I I will say not to interrupt you, but I remember trying to like trying to like finely edit that like a fade out on that thing. And I just wanted it to ride because it's just nothing but this bass track. And I'm also an EDM fan, more, you know, of the of the heavier shit. See Brady over there shaking his head, just like, yeah, bro, you don't even know. Yeah. So having that, so having that that just full on just
Silent Haven (19:25.879)
Yeah I'm I'm a big rhythm head. Big that so having that so having that that
RYAN RAYLE (19:33.577)
I mean, I don't know, just the 808 just right in your face. And and it just in my car, it sounds like fucking premium music. And I'm getting ready to get smashed by something else. And I just I I think that track is great, regardless, you know, cliche this or sample that. It's it's a it is a real track. And the fact that, you know, the way that it came about, you're just like, well, I'm I'm in my bedroom just noodling and sample this and hey guys, you like that? And boom, now you have a track. It's I love the music of the crew not I love the
Silent Haven (20:00.344)
I love the music of the cr I but I love the creation of the music, like how it comes to be because again if
RYAN RAYLE (20:03.254)
creation of the music, like the how it comes to be. Because again, if you know who the people are and how they make the music, it just forms an even tighter bond whenever you go to see it live. Cause that's where that's where I get sold. That's where I'm buying merch, right? If if if you get up, you know, you pay your money to get in with, you know, 10, 15, 20 dollars to go see the show. obviously being a local band, you're probably paying, you know, in the first three slots somewhere.
So it's like trying to get out early to see that. And then you see something like that happen in real time. You're like, Yeah, I'm gonna buy a t shirt.
Silent Haven (20:36.813)
Yeah, right mo most of most of my favorite bands that I listen to day to day are bands that I found naturally live, like you said. Like you see it happen in the moment and you're like, Yeah, I'm gonna buy a t shirt. Like, add you to my Spotify right now. Yeah, yeah. It's something you'll never see.
RYAN RAYLE (20:46.636)
Mm-hmm. It's a one off experience. Yeah.
John, I don't want to call you John. I'm sorry. That was my bad. Noah. Whoops. He's in the back with tape on his mouth. He's like, hey, help me, and like, shh, shut up.
Silent Haven (21:10.207)
Hey, hey. Get down, shut up.
RYAN RAYLE (21:14.016)
So Noah you said you were in the army? Did I get that right? What was your MOS?
Silent Haven (21:18.633)
Yes. So I did six years. Eleven bang bang.
RYAN RAYLE (21:23.52)
Fucking trigger pooler. Let's go. I was in the Marine Corps. I worked on tanks.
Silent Haven (21:25.341)
Yeah, light I was in a light infantry unit. I was based out there in West Lakota. I did the Texas Army National Guard for six years and then got out honorably as a E four mafia man.
RYAN RAYLE (21:32.458)
No way. All right, man. Thank you for your service, brother. Hey, for I made it to E five and then got knocked down a notch. That's another podcast. Actually, that might be sealed, but anyway. so what brought so everyone's from Corpus. Noah, did you have any other projects before this?
Silent Haven (21:53.031)
Any other projects before this? I've man, I've been so the crazy thing about that is like I've been in in quite a few projects. not necessarily like huge, but I mean I've been in the scene relatively for ten plus years. I started doing vocals back in two thousand and twelve. I am twenty-nine. okay, I say you're twenty-one. Yes. I'm thirty.
RYAN RAYLE (22:08.025)
well how old were you?
RYAN RAYLE (22:12.739)
it's okay, 'cause Antonio, you're twenty one, right? Brady, how old were you?
RYAN RAYLE (22:20.812)
What? Hey, hey, look, man. Look. I'll be 43 in like I'll be you hey. Yeah, I'm telling you, man. You look great for 36, my guy. I'm telling you. I'll be 43 in like six days.
Silent Haven (22:20.822)
Thirty six. He looks great. He looks great. I tell him all the time, he looks great. You look great for thirty-six my guys think I'll be three like yours brady. Yeah, I figured you'd be like close to me. You look like a strapping young lad.
RYAN RAYLE (22:37.866)
The nineteenth?
RYAN RAYLE (22:41.598)
thanks. Thanks. It's don't smoke, moisturize, and get outside as much as you can. and e exercise. Yeah, touch grass. Yeah, and good beer. Not in excess though. Gotta gotta know your limits. You can party every now and again, you know. But yeah, sorry, go ahead, Noah.
Silent Haven (22:46.824)
And good grass. Good beer. There you go. Not in excess though.
Silent Haven (22:58.038)
What are we talking about again? You and the scenes. You and the scenes. I got I got distracted by beer, man. You're talking about beer, so I like, man, it sounds I'm getting a little I'm getting the beer sweats over here, dude So, I've been in and out of projects, like I said for ten plus years I've been doing vocals since thousand twelve. I actually originally was a drummer. So around that time before that, so
RYAN RAYLE (22:59.771)
your Your time in the scene. Is it is it?
RYAN RAYLE (23:09.506)
I'll I'll put mine down. I'm sorry.
Silent Haven (23:23.004)
I had a buddy of mine who was a really good vocalist, kind of like showed me the ropes for it and I just kinda ran off with it and just kept going with it, man. So so crazy enough, I feel like I've been in a lot of projects, but this project specifically in the past I mean it's like we've been collectively doing this for like he said about six months. the amount of traction that we've gotten in the past two to three weeks is
It just happens. Like sometimes like if you're doing it right and you're s doing consistency, like it's work at the end of the day. You know what I mean? You're putting in to make these posts and stuff. So it magically took off. So I think we bumped up like we've gotten like seven thousand seven thousand plus followers on f just Facebook alone in a matter of a week and a half. We're at eight thousand now. It's it's surreal. Yeah.
RYAN RAYLE (24:00.373)
Absolutely.
RYAN RAYLE (24:15.595)
Okay, for for reference, for reference, just to kind of put this into context, they've been they've you guys have been kicking it, like you said, you you're over seven thousand on Facebook. I've been doing this shit eleven years and I think I just broke four thousand. Not that not that that's like, you know, I must I must be doing it wrong. You know what mean? But the fact that you guys can can stack that count that quick, and you're right, it is consistency because I am
one of the most inconsistent people when it comes to just literally doing anything. I've got like 14 tabs opened in my head at all times. Like literally I was out today doing my dad thing where it was like I made a one of my first posts on like my personal page where I was walking through Home Depot. because I build acoustic panels. Well you can't see them, but I've got acoustic panels all in the all in the studio. but I build them myself and that's how it started. It's, you know, from this now I build acoustic panels and just sold forty five to two different businesses within walking distance.
Silent Haven (24:44.862)
It just literally
Silent Haven (25:08.342)
forty five to two different businesses than walking this way. So it's this kind of side hustle that I do. And so I like, Well, time to get some hunger.
RYAN RAYLE (25:11.817)
So it's this kind of side hustle that I do. And so I was like, well, time to get some lumber. Walked out to Home Depot, 8 30 in the morning. There's fucking no one in there. We're either sleeping at church or, you know, still recovering from a hangover. And it's just me and Home Depot, just me and the pine. And, you know, just the the guy that's down there counting something at whatever shelf that he has to count. And I'm just like, hey man, where's the where's the where's the the yeah, it's aisle thirty seven or something. And
And and then you you get there and you're wait, where the fuck was I going with this? I just lost it. Tabs, multiple tabs, yeah, multiple tabs in your head. So while I was out today, I opened up three more because I was driving my wife's car, who I barely drive her car. And I'm like, Well, gotta fix that and that and that, and also that. bro, I I jumped in the car, it says service due in 156 miles.
Silent Haven (25:46.227)
Tabs, tabs, tabs.
Silent Haven (26:02.508)
When was your last oil change? Like I jumped in the process service.
RYAN RAYLE (26:08.755)
She is notoriously bad at reminding me because I was in the automotive scene scene. I was a mechanic for Kia and Genesis for 10 years. And so, you know, w the fact that she just like lets her car go, just I'm like, Do you just do you think I just have like a wand I can wave and your car is fixed? Like I you have so many problems with your car. And she's like, No, there's nothing wrong with it. It's fine. Like
Silent Haven (26:19.104)
that's red.
Silent Haven (26:35.74)
if you want to talk about problems with cars bro I drive an O seven Saturn View Saturn Dude you don't even need the key in there anymore I just put a fork in there and it starts He has a clapper he's off dude you dead ass
RYAN RAYLE (26:40.405)
Brother, burn that thing right now. Just put a just burn it to the ground.
RYAN RAYLE (26:53.237)
Yeah, he's like
Silent Haven (26:55.476)
He's like he's like, Noah, give me that crusty French fry on the ground right now. And that's another thing. Matt's laugh is astronomically high and it is the best thing in the world.
RYAN RAYLE (27:05.367)
man. It's okay. So hey, make Matt laugh more. Got it. I'm not even sure where we're going. I went off on some weird tangent. I'm sorry. I'll I'll find I'll find the circle. yes, that's right. Consistency.
Silent Haven (27:09.682)
Yeah.
No, but I mean about like the posts, man, like we we try to stay consistent. Like I'm I'm super like on my own ass about it. Like even if I'm at work, like I'm I'm gonna take the quick ten minute break at, you know, whatever time of the day to go post on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, like all of those and they do that. Yes. I'm
RYAN RAYLE (27:32.735)
Same. That that was sorry, full circle. Thank you. That's I'm I am you, you and me. Yes. Got it. You're hey
Silent Haven (27:42.56)
How many mimosas? But yeah man, we just try to stay super consistent. We did the thing for a little bit, kinda fell off and then we'd only post about shows and you know, we'd still keep, you know, whoever was following us, you know
RYAN RAYLE (27:44.115)
Yeah. just two. Just three.
Silent Haven (27:57.042)
aware of what we're doing, but since we've been doing the consistent thing, you know, the algorithm gods finally grasped onto us, you know, it was awesome. It it was literally like an overnight thing. It was super crazy. I remember sitting there at home watching my phone. Every hour a thousand views, a thousand views. And then like over again the past two weeks it's been like a quarter million of views on the page. And then and then the Facebook just skyrocketed and then Instagram right a thousand. Facebook we just hit eight point five. We're pushing a thousand monthly listeners now on
RYAN RAYLE (28:18.037)
Damn.
Silent Haven (28:26.935)
Spotify. So just everything just kind of is is going and going and going and it's it's really awesome to see man 'cause, you know, we you know, at the end of the day, just being real, the music is important but you also just have to do the other things, you know, posting, getting out there, you know, even if it's not your favorite thing to be on your phone and post, that's just the world we live in now. You know, we have to you know, that that is the thing with the times. Yeah, y yeah, sign of the times, man. That's exactly what it is.
RYAN RAYLE (28:28.127)
That's good.
RYAN RAYLE (28:41.866)
Mm-hmm.
RYAN RAYLE (28:52.777)
Yeah. Yeah. Cause you know, venues these days are all s some venues, not all, but I do know that some venues are asking like what's your what's your follower count? What's your download count? You know, they're they're looking they're looking for these digital metrics because whenever they post, yeah.
Silent Haven (29:03.333)
Yes, absolutely. Yes, to put you on a certain bill if if if it's worth it to have you on big bands. We finally got our first big show that we played. It was with Enthoos and cr Crystal Lake. it was here at the House of Rock. And Yeah, dude. Really the other day. That's awesome, dude. I remember you you hit me up about that.
RYAN RAYLE (29:16.999)
hell, ooh. Ooh. Mm. that's my spot right there. I was there for under oath. I got wrecked. Just
RYAN RAYLE (29:27.699)
I was hey, I just I put it out there. I was like, I'm gonna come here and I'm gonna have a lot of time. I got a tattoo while was there. It says
Silent Haven (29:32.965)
Hard where at? the one downtown. Axis is what it's called.
RYAN RAYLE (29:38.038)
There was one, yeah, we were walking to the oyster bar. I remember so if so if the coast is on my left, then we were walking south and it was on my right. no, it's hu like you can't miss it. It's right on the corner. I talk do dude do dude the dude that did my tattoo's name's Ray, if I'm not mistaken.
Silent Haven (29:41.725)
I used to work there, bro.
Silent Haven (29:51.527)
Okay. That's probably Axis. On the corner, yep, that that's Axis tattoos, yeah. That's where I get that's where I get all my tattoos too.
Silent Haven (30:03.4)
Yeah, yeah. Yeah. I I know I shout out Matt and Axis tattoo because I get tattooed from Matt, so yeah.
RYAN RAYLE (30:05.343)
Yeah, Freddie's like, dude, I fuck it. I'm gonna go talk to Ray right now.
RYAN RAYLE (30:12.819)
If okay, we're this is all hypothetical. I'm having like a memory moment here where I can't remember the exact name of the place. But long story short, the tattoo says I'm still here. it it's not because I like self harm myself. It was a message that I sent to my oldest daughter, which is the whole reason why I'm in Texas, is I moved here whenever her and her mom moved here. So I came from North Carolina, but I've been here 16 years. And this actually once I wrote it to her.
I guess I don't know. I maybe this might resonate with you know when you write the lyrics for the songs, like when you have something in your head, you're like, that's gonna be good somewhere. And for me, I'm still here. Actually, it was it's solely meant for my my oldest daughter because you know, again, from a former wife and different family, but you know, I'm still here because of, you know, the podcast. I'm still here because of guys like you.
Silent Haven (30:50.195)
Yeah.
RYAN RAYLE (31:08.947)
I'm still here. It like it can it's a it's a bigger phrase. You can you can utilize it in different ways. And I remember getting this and we were like, let's go a little bit bigger, because I have these tattoos right here. Well, let's see if I can get it the frame. I got these in Chicago. It says, Life is a lie, we must conquer. It's from a game that my buddy was playing in Iraq in like six or some shit. And and it was just this cutscene where this like evil dude was like
Silent Haven (31:20.469)
Bigger 'cause I have these tattoos right here. Well, see if you get in the frame. Yeah.
RYAN RAYLE (31:38.395)
Life is a lie, we must conquer. I'm like, that'd be a fucking sick tattoo. And now I've got it. So what no, whenever you're writing your lyrics, man, is it lyrics fit music? Music fit lyrics? Like what's the dynamic there?
Silent Haven (31:41.717)
Yeah. Now I got it. So write your lyrics band, is it lyrics fan view?
Silent Haven (31:53.876)
I feel like it's a little bit of both, man, honestly. I feel like it just depends on like I feel like what the track would come for. obviously real ones is kind of like a goofy track, you know what I mean? I feel like fitting of w instrumentally what it calls for depends on the route I go for how I write about it. So of course we have an e we have an album total, we have another album basically where it's the material. So we have a lot of music that we're sitting on and I feel like these are just like these are awesome tracks that we've already put out, but dude you I we have a couple that are like pretty freaking serious.
and really like sentimental. so those are something that are gonna be really, really like great to to look forward to. So we put a lot of heart into them, you know,
RYAN RAYLE (32:31.744)
Yeah.
Silent Haven (32:35.393)
we just can't wait to share with everybody, man. So like yes, we're goofy, but we'll also we have a lot of tracks that we hope our listeners and everybody are gonna be able to resonate to to where you can actually like feel it, you know what I mean? Like emotionally, passionately. Yeah. So along with like you said with that, like we have a track. I'm just gonna say the name of it. It's just called Memori. And it's gonna be a really, really emotional track. and we just we're getting ready to do the music video for that one.
RYAN RAYLE (32:48.403)
Shows it shows range.
RYAN RAYLE (32:57.675)
Okay.
Silent Haven (33:05.097)
next couple of months man so this is something that would be more it's it's complete one one eighty
RYAN RAYLE (33:07.348)
so this is something that the fans can look forward to? Okay.
RYAN RAYLE (33:18.399)
Okay, well let's let's talk about what you have out right now, which currently that I see is digitize, system fail, infected, and real ones. Is that it? So I was I was drawn in obviously by the real ones. what's good with infected system fail and digitize? Like just walk us through those real quick.
Silent Haven (33:25.653)
Correct. Yes sir.
Silent Haven (33:35.953)
Yeah, so those are I guess those are a part of the s the album cycle run. You know what I mean? Real Ones was written, you know, outside of all of that. Those are all part of the same album and, you know, that group of songs.
Infected was actually the first song written. It was just a riff. It was, you know, complete different kind of groove, everything. The riff was still there, different tuning. Like two years ago. And I ended up just kind of, you know, working its way into what it is now. Ended up showing Noah. That that song was we wanted something kind of balls to the walls, you know, something else fast. You know, it has that very energetic, you know, two step kind of thing and we figured as a first single, let's not do something that's like, you know, half time or anything like that. Let's do something fast that's like here we are, let's go. No
And system failed.
RYAN RAYLE (34:20.565)
For wait, real quick, for the listeners, the fact that he mentioned two step, if if you were to see Noah, you would imagine that motherfucker in the pit, the two dog. No Noah, yeah, I'm like Noah Noah looks like a fucking brick house, ladies and gentlemen. He is he's got he's got like three of Antonio's thighs and one leg. Just
Silent Haven (34:28.655)
Bro he'll he'll swing the merch table around.
Silent Haven (34:35.061)
Yeah, dude, he's also our bodyguard.
Dude, you c yeah, dude, I'm built like over here just me just Octavius Rex looking like I don't know if you if you can edit this out, but Matt actually has a thing to head out to in about five minutes. I don't know if there's a way we can kind of transition over to that.
RYAN RAYLE (34:52.256)
shit.
RYAN RAYLE (34:58.879)
Not a problem. No, no, no. Go ahead. Yeah, Matt, get on the mic. Say some words. Welcome to the party. How did you get how did you get in the band? I don't think we've covered that yet.
Silent Haven (35:05.747)
up guys. So I've I've known Antonio for a while now, like Kelly was saying, but I used to be a manager at Guitar Center. So I I that's where I work now. And like my God cra yeah, no, but yeah I I've seen Antonio, you know
RYAN RAYLE (35:17.845)
Man, Guitar Center. Shout out. It's like Guitar Center and Craigslist. One of those two are related.
Silent Haven (35:32.197)
grow up from like being, you know, a little fourteen year old kid until now and like I remember him shredding, you know, in the store and just you know, I would always like, Hey dude, you know, keep it up, keep it up and he's just an awesome guy. But as far as Noah goes, he used to jam in whole bunch of other bands and
As far as some of the groups that I'm in, we've actually shared shows together and it's just it's right now it's been an amazing experience. So it's like it was just more like, Hey dude, I'm putting a band together. If you like it, you can stay. If not, it's all good, you know? But like like you was saying, yeah, I am a little I I don't mean to be the the band whore. But Dam that that too. So
RYAN RAYLE (36:16.874)
Cool. Yeah.
Silent Haven (36:28.128)
So yeah, I I had a little mishap in in Mexico. I was doing a run with my other band and yeah man, I don't even wanna say it. Anyways I had had knee surgery, so I'm just recovering.
RYAN RAYLE (36:29.075)
brother, you got the cane.
RYAN RAYLE (36:33.384)
Lil Lil Whoopsie.
RYAN RAYLE (36:44.776)
You just you just hit the kick drum too hard. Just just go with that. P pedals slip, n knees gone.
Silent Haven (36:46.426)
Yeah. So but right now it's it it's recovering, so it's good, but I've been playing like with I'm also in a cover band too. So that's yeah. They give it three. But yeah, other than that, yeah, that's what
RYAN RAYLE (36:53.309)
Okay.
RYAN RAYLE (36:57.182)
That's three. Told you. That's three.
RYAN RAYLE (37:03.687)
Knew it.
Silent Haven (37:06.536)
I've been trying to do is just play with my cover band right now just to get the motion going. But we've had fill in his name's Jonathan, he's one of the the instructors. Yeah, overlay Are you breathing?
RYAN RAYLE (37:18.334)
The one that's duct taped underneath the camera? Yep. Sh No n no n for those listening know it's Matt's Walker just killed John.
Silent Haven (37:32.724)
But no, he's been helping out. He's been a great help. he's a g drum instructor at Guitar Center as well. So he he's he's got it going, but I do plan to return hopefully by next month or
RYAN RAYLE (37:41.172)
See? It's man, it's a community.
Silent Haven (37:50.49)
Next month. I'm trying to get back on the stage with these guys and have a good time, man. But hold on, like the game Tony was Yeah, I guess to kind of clear this up too, there's videos of us on our page and Matt's not there. So for if anyone was curious, that's what that situation is. That's Jonathan playing right now. He's just filling in. But don't worry, we're not replacing Matt. He is he is our guy, our drummer. He just, you know, we're kind of just in this s status right now. But he is absolutely one hundred
RYAN RAYLE (37:55.071)
Yeah, brother.
RYAN RAYLE (38:18.974)
Yeah, man. I mean, a band is a business, a band is a family, you know, you treat it you treat it like what you get, you know, you treat it how you need to treat it, right? If if you have Yeah, yeah, it it's it's the consistency that counts, right? So, you know, the fact that you Yeah, shout out Jonathan. Snaps for Jonathan.
Silent Haven (38:27.932)
You gotta you gotta keep it going. Absolutely. Yeah, it's consistency. Yes. But shout out Jonathan. He's he's been killing it, man. He's been absolutely killing it, man. Super super grateful for him.
RYAN RAYLE (38:42.44)
But the the fact that you guys are able to kind of just, you know, make that substitution in in a time of need, obviously, you know, whatever crazy story Matt doesn't want to tell us, which gives us a little more reason to call you guys back and figure that portion out.
Silent Haven (38:54.736)
Absolutely. Just fighting off three baboons in Mexico
RYAN RAYLE (39:04.458)
I was not ready for the baboon reference. I was thinking like cartel members, hey, all right, we're fighting baboons. That'll just that'll be the name of Yeah, that'll be the name of the episode. It'll just be like Silent Haven fighting baboons, you know?
Silent Haven (39:06.606)
Nope, but that's Matt. That's him. Gotta keep it spontaneous, brother.
Silent Haven (39:16.212)
There you go. There you go. What the hell?
RYAN RAYLE (39:19.698)
People would be like, why are the yeah. See? See? These little marketing tricks, right? man.
Silent Haven (39:24.89)
Yes, that's all it is. It's just gonna be a picture of Antonio with a banana and a baboons over him like that. That's gonna be the clip. That's a thumbnail, dog. Like dude, this band's a mess. I'm not listening to them. They suck. I'm not listening to them. I'm gonna listen to them.
RYAN RAYLE (39:33.02)
And and John with his mouth taped shut with a bruise. Woo. Be like, man, the music's good. I'm not sure about the background info though. My goodness. Yeah, it's like it's like
Silent Haven (39:46.332)
I don't wanna know them. That's why they don't have friends.
To go back to the first
RYAN RAYLE (39:56.395)
Perfect. Perfect. man. I think I th I you know what I honestly think we'll leave it there. I will we'll we'll we'll do this again, a hundred percent. We'll do this in a couple months, maybe maybe another another two or three months. We'll revisit once you guys well I before you guys go before before we get out of here. What are things that the listeners and followers can look forward to? I would say, let's just say by the end of the year.
Silent Haven (39:57.713)
But I guess
Silent Haven (40:25.064)
Yeah, so a lot of things for sure. absolutely new music, merch. We've been really working on merch a lot. we have a buddy that's been kinda helping us out with that. We had a little run with shirts, but those those went pretty fast. So, you know, we use you know, we kinda cycle it out, you know, by by new merch and so you know, the process of that. And then music, you know, music, music, music. We working on a ton of stuff. We have a a single that we're gonna be dropping within the next month or two called Targets. that one's another
RYAN RAYLE (40:39.178)
That's a good thing.
RYAN RAYLE (40:53.758)
Now is that on the is that on the full album as well?
Silent Haven (40:55.898)
Yes. That's probably one of the heaviest tracks on the album. Kind of a one that's just real just insane, real gritty, man.
RYAN RAYLE (41:03.774)
Four like are we talking like four on the floor knuckle dragger or is there some like well we give us give us a little taste.
Silent Haven (41:09.276)
It's just it's just real I guess I don't want to say greedy, but it's just like like you would just wanna punch someone. Like down like down tempo aggressive, like in your face, just like definitely the lowest tuned song we have 'cause that's another thing. We we we're a baritone junkie on on guitar. You know, that's all I play the thirty scale guitars be you know, we're tuning to like double drop C, double drop B. This one's and double drop A, so we're it's pushing like nine string terror.
RYAN RAYLE (41:15.977)
Visceral?
Hey.
RYAN RAYLE (41:24.135)
Okay.
Silent Haven (41:39.03)
territory, so it's it's absolutely just sludge sludgy and yeah, so that's it that one's fun. We're gonna shoot the video within the next month. but like they said there all the songs are done, just kinda went over the mix.
We always do that. We keep in communication, send them the mixes. and just posting. You know, we're always posting, man. So if anyone just wants to see us, I'm check every day in the afternoon. There's always something to see, whether it's something about a song or a show or just us saying what's up, there's there's always something to look forward to every day and we plan to just keep that rolling, you know, 'cause we w now we wouldn't we wouldn't be here without people following us and the algorithm working, you know, you found us and
RYAN RAYLE (41:59.424)
Yeah.
Silent Haven (42:19.163)
It's what we're doing it it you know, I hope it's doing something, you know. So it's yeah. Yeah from what you're from what I'm hearing is that you guys you guys are really good.
RYAN RAYLE (42:19.275)
That's it, man.
RYAN RAYLE (42:25.759)
Well, from what you're from what I'm hearing is that you've got some you've got some really good traction going and you know, the fact that you can see your numbers growing daily. I don't really pay attention to it too much these days just because I don't have any like overlords telling me like you need to do this, this, and this and this. You know, this is this is more me just reaching out and just being a part of the community. I do care that my consistency should be better. And I'm trying. I'm working on me, guys. You know what I'm saying?
And I really think that the fact that you guys again, you know, kind of bring it all full circle that it was, you know, you're still you're under that two year mark as a band, it's six months. You've got the fill in John, everybody has a role in the band. You know, we got the band Guardian, we've got the carpenter, we've got the videographer, we've got the riff writer. I mean, it's everybody ro everybody plays a part, right? You know, it takes a village kind of vibe. And I th I think it's great
just to hear this story, you know, for the first time and share it with everybody. So I'm pretty sure that maybe one or two of the 14 of my listeners are going to start becoming Silent Haven fans. and I'm pretty excited to see what you guys got going on because I've I've already got everything queued up in the playlist. We're going to go hit the pool after this. Even though that's what I do for a day job. It'd be like I was curious we'll just end on this. We'll end on this. Brady's got the mic now. just go down the line
You don't have to say who you work for, but what do you do as a day job?
Silent Haven (43:55.06)
so as a day job for a while to understand. Yeah, sure. No. As a day job, I work for a community college here in Corpus. I'm their videographer and multimedia specialist. so I'm I make all their ads and all of their marketing stuff. other than that too, I freelance for other bands. I'll shoot them live, I'll do their shoot them. I film them live. I film music videos for them and then box
RYAN RAYLE (43:58.067)
If you're if you're allowed to and you're not like under N N D A or some crazy shit.
RYAN RAYLE (44:08.23)
man, shout out. Working for the community college.
RYAN RAYLE (44:20.701)
dude, I love a live set. Love a live set.
Silent Haven (44:23.043)
absolutely. W w that's coming for one of our one of the tracks that's gonna be on the album. We're gonna have a full live like strip like set from it. So it'll it'll be cool.
RYAN RAYLE (44:33.013)
Dude, if you guys ever come to come and take it, just like and you want to shoot one song or the entire set live, hit me up, man. I'll
Silent Haven (44:38.124)
absolutely bro. I I was just watching Come and Take It earlier today with Chelsea Grant, dude, so absolutely. reverence. But other than that, my my my main passion is is filmmaking. I like narrative film structure where you know we write up a script, we hire actors, we hire a cinematographer, we have a gaffer and and I I'm an actor as well too, so I'm kind of all over the place when it comes to media and then the other my hobby is the band, so
RYAN RAYLE (44:44.011)
Choice. Yes, they think yeah.
RYAN RAYLE (45:01.87)
All right.
There it is.
Silent Haven (45:06.471)
So I do subcontracting, like you said, general contractor. I work on Padre Island, which is our beach here in in Corpus Christi. So yeah, so I do a little bit of that, do a little bit of HVAC electrical plumbing, all your handyman needs. So that's that's basically what I do full time. So nothing too crazy. Yeah.
RYAN RAYLE (45:13.557)
Shout out Padre.
RYAN RAYLE (45:22.143)
You're in a you're you're what I call an apocalypse, bro. Yeah. You're gonna be on someone's team. Just just know that.
Silent Haven (45:27.665)
Well we'll have to do we'll have to do a studio tour one of these days when it's done because Noah has has done an incredible job. Like I have an a a a detached garage at our houses where we practice and everything. We don't record there but eventually I think that's what we would like to do. But Noah, you know, for just being one person it we'll do a video soon. It's he's done some crazy stuff in there.
RYAN RAYLE (45:33.794)
absolutely.
RYAN RAYLE (45:39.999)
Perfect.
RYAN RAYLE (45:49.619)
I'd I'd love to see it. I'm sure everybody else would as well.
Silent Haven (45:51.86)
So the the music video we did for digitize, I don't know if you've taken a look at it yet, but
RYAN RAYLE (45:57.759)
I have not.
Silent Haven (45:58.308)
So we turned the section of the studio in that area into a prison cell. So yeah, so that music video was shot in his garage, basically. Yeah, dude. So it it was creativity central with this guy, man, so it's freaking awesome. But yeah, that's what I do. I'm gonna pass it down this way now. Yeah. Just to add on to that note quick, it's crazy, you know, when we started jamming Brady he like, Hey, let's jam my garage. Whoever I guess
RYAN RAYLE (46:05.78)
RYAN RAYLE (46:09.439)
Dude, hell yeah. All right.
Silent Haven (46:25.189)
owned owned the house before it was turning into a studio. There was literally a on marker vocal booth. It was like it's like a cut off like the walls built in the garage. And so they never finished it, yeah. So we put Noah put hardwood floor, we painted the walls, you know, sealed everything. P he put a A C. So now it's, you know, we're not just sweating in a garage all day. Like we we'll chill in there. You know, we'll we'll get some drinks and we'll just hang out and it it's it's just HQ. Yeah, it's just a silent haven HQ.
RYAN RAYLE (46:32.891)
it was meant to be.
RYAN RAYLE (46:44.755)
Mm-hmm.
RYAN RAYLE (46:51.093)
Man, next time in corpus, I'll just I'll just bring my rig and we'll do a it like tell you what, tell you what, dude. I'll I'll promise you this. When the studio's done and our timelines align, we'll do an in-person interview in your brand new studio. I'll make the trip. And then we'll go party at House of Rock.
Silent Haven (46:54.372)
Dude, come hang out.
Silent Haven (47:07.08)
That all right, yeah, let's yeah, that's awesome. I would love to. Hell yeah. But but I guess as a as for work, I work at Guitar Center, I'm a sales associate over there. It's you know
RYAN RAYLE (47:17.907)
Wait, hold on. Are you gonna tell all these guitar center links? I'm tell we gotta get a sponsorship, y'all. We gotta get a sponsorship.
Silent Haven (47:21.179)
Yeah, dude. Yeah. Sales guy at Guitar Center. So, you know, it's it's cool to still make music, I guess, a living in a way. You know what I mean? And I get shameless plug here 'cause it's also a source of income. I I do lo fi music as my other project. yes, so that's also another thing. So I'm just trying to make music revolve around my life some way or another, whether it's through my job. Yeah, dude, absolutely. And but to add earlier I used to work at the water.
RYAN RAYLE (47:29.888)
Yeah.
RYAN RAYLE (47:37.939)
Ooh yeah.
RYAN RAYLE (47:45.769)
Hey man, do what you love, right? Do what you love.
Silent Haven (47:51.093)
street restaurants like growing up. Yeah. there's good places. But other than that man just I just that and then I handle all the studio stuff for the band and that's that's about it for me.
RYAN RAYLE (47:54.056)
yeah? Dude. So good. So good.
RYAN RAYLE (48:04.946)
Then Matt, the low key quiet one. The the band guard the band guardian.
Silent Haven (48:07.315)
So Yeah. I work a federal job, so Yeah. He's my dad and he works for the FBI. No I'm just kidding. So I I won't say which agency, but you said it pretty much right now, tax. So But no, I just try to
RYAN RAYLE (48:13.936)
Whoa, we got the feds at god, I wish my sample pad worked. There we go. It's my tax dollars at work dropping bombs. Sorry.
RYAN RAYLE (48:25.576)
Please don't. I'm on a I'm on a list. Hope I'm not on your list.
Silent Haven (48:31.514)
I try to do my best to help everyone I can, even if it's like going over their time. I'm just trying to, you know, do what we're supposed to do, you know? But as far as that, musically,
RYAN RAYLE (48:40.873)
Yeah.
Silent Haven (48:46.73)
I started playing when I was five years old. my my aunt bought me my first guitar. I taught myself how to play guitar up until like the age of ten, then I started taking music lessons. and then middle school I did a band and they were like, Well what instrument do you wanna play? So my uncle's a drummer, so I like, I wanna play drums So at first I fucking hated it. I I hated that shit. Like I had to learn mallets
RYAN RAYLE (48:50.11)
Holy shit.
RYAN RAYLE (49:08.97)
All right.
RYAN RAYLE (49:14.352)
God.
Silent Haven (49:15.986)
And but as time progressed, you know, I did drumline in high school. I was a music major. I didn't complete college 'cause I ended up having my daughter. So she's eleven, gonna be twelve next year. But yeah, but she's my
RYAN RAYLE (49:23.608)
RYAN RAYLE (49:37.802)
Hey man, shout out to the kids.
Silent Haven (49:41.2)
She's my number one fan, so and she loves Silent Haven. She loves all the projects I'm in, but as far as Silent Haven, she's like, I like y'all's new song I'm like, Okay, baby.
RYAN RAYLE (49:44.062)
That's it, man.
RYAN RAYLE (49:53.023)
Yeah, I I have my like I said, I got my 13 year old and and she's been she's been my little road my little show homie for better part of three years now. I took her to one of her first shows when she was 10 and it was a hardcore show. Shh, brother, like fucking core memory just burned and it's just nothing but just like gutturals and you know, chinas.
Silent Haven (50:07.475)
So man. I just took my daughter to her first metal show 'cause she right now she's a little girl. She loves K pop. So I took her to I Yeah, exactly. So her first metal show was Obscura.
RYAN RAYLE (50:23.014)
A slow sl yeah, yeah, slow dose
Silent Haven (50:30.162)
And it was that House of Rock too, but the good thing was it wasn't like stupidly packed, but you know, like we were able to be like right there in the front and she had a good time, I had a good time. It was it was it was badass, man. Exactly.
RYAN RAYLE (50:30.679)
my
RYAN RAYLE (50:44.872)
Yeah.
I said, man. Do it for the kids, right? It's all for the kids. Gotta keep the kids happy. Well, guys, thank you very much for for spending a you know an hour with me today and introducing yourselves, who you are and where you're from and how we got here. I think I personally think the the music is good. I'm a fan of ones and zeros. I'm a fan of you know samples, so it's just all binary, right? And
Silent Haven (51:06.674)
That's all we are bro, we're just we're just static in barcodes, bro. Bin binary, that's the word, yeah. That's our genre, we're a binary band. Antonio's butt.
RYAN RAYLE (51:15.4)
Just we're a binary band. but yeah, I'd I do I really do want to I'd love to come down now that the House of Rock is more Come and Take It Productions. Yeah, come and take it productions is my sponsor. I've been riding with them for over ten years and it's just it's a beautiful thing. I love Anthony Stevenson. He's a he's a beautiful man. And
Silent Haven (51:35.664)
Yeah, dude, he he shout out to him for getting us on that Entheo show, man. He hit us up and I if Anthony you're watching this, thank you for putting up with my constant emails. I'm constantly, hey man, what's going on? How you doing? You know? Like if he's like this guy again. Yeah, yes, yes. But shout out Anthony, you rock. Fucking annoying, bro.
RYAN RAYLE (51:40.457)
Yeah.
RYAN RAYLE (51:45.388)
You got hey, you gotta you gotta stay in that motherfucker's yeah. He just shoots he shoots he shoots me a text. He's like, Do you know this fucking Antonio guy? Like, dude, okay, hold on, hold on, okay. He really wants the show, okay, Tony? But but no, dude, stay in the inbox, right? That because it's the squeaky the squeaky wheel gets the grease, right? And
Silent Haven (52:04.633)
Absolutely.
RYAN RAYLE (52:08.487)
And if you're not out there in someone's DMs or inbox or in front of them saying, I I wanna, you know, we have something to offer, we would like to share it and be a part of the program, that's you know, that's how it excuse me, that's how it happens. I mean, that's just how I've seen it happen. I mean, whether you play I know Corpus doesn't have like a million places to play, but if you're, you know, continually going to the same spot and and and becoming what I call, you know, local famous, you know, then you can start spreading and then it'll, you know, kind of grow from there.
But but yeah, I'm definitely coming down to Corpus. I want to see the studio. I want you guys to give me a tour, give everybody a tour, and just keep me posted, man. before we get out of here, the last thing, any final thank yous, shout outs, and all of the ats where they can, they the fit the fans and followers can follow and support you guys.
Silent Haven (52:41.306)
Yes, we'll lock that in.
Silent Haven (52:57.85)
Yeah, first off just thank you to everyone that's followed us in the past two weeks. It's it's been overwhelming, but insanely grateful, yes. And everyone that's stuck around since we've started and continue to go to the shows, you know, pay for the merch, stream the music, hit us up just to be like, Hey, I like the song. You know, they yes, everyone going out of their way to to click something 'cause we know attention spans are cut in half nowadays.
RYAN RAYLE (53:20.619)
Two point six seven s two point six seven seconds. That's all you got. That's it. That's the that's the threshold now.
Silent Haven (53:23.886)
Exactly, dude. Yeah. It's insane. But yeah, thank you to everyone that does that and all of our socials. You can find us on just about every social media platform and streaming platform. So we're usually under Silent Haven, Silent Haven US. our band name is just Silent Haven, but you find us Instagram, our TikTok is up and running now. YouTube, we're starting to post a lot more on YouTube, a lot more shorts and stuff. we're probably gonna start doing some behind the scenes stuff soon. Yeah, about three music videos. So there's there's still stuff to check out if you haven't heard
RYAN RAYLE (53:47.784)
yeah.
Silent Haven (53:58.766)
Also so our first music video, I just wanted to throw this in there really quick 'cause you said shout out. we did music video for infected. We had Jacob help us and we also had Jake wa Jake. For yeah, we when we do music videos we try to outsource to some of filmmakers that I've made connections with, some colleagues and stuff. So you know, Rene Guerrero and Jake Gonzalez, shout out to them 'cause they help us out a ton when it comes to you know, like Antonio said, we have we have this atmosphere. So like with the videos, when if you see the videos like
RYAN RAYLE (53:59.477)
Noah's on the mic now.
RYAN RAYLE (54:23.189)
Right on.
Silent Haven (54:28.859)
We have we have to try and pull off this certain feeling and that's where the filmmaking experience comes into play. We gotta convey it visually and so, you know, Jake Gonzalez and Rene Guerretto and whoever else has helped us shoot, you know, anything, you know, thank you. And our first our friend Steven. Yeah, our first actor for Infected was Steven, so he's super freaking awesome guy. And if you see him in the pit, please step out of the way if you care about your life. Huge. But yeah, man, Noah, it was awesome for you to have us, man.
RYAN RAYLE (54:48.607)
Shout out Steven.
Silent Haven (54:58.619)
We're we're super grateful, you know, and we're glad that our paths met, man. So we're looking forward to talking more with you, man. So we're we're excited to see what's coming.
RYAN RAYLE (55:03.519)
Yeah, absolutely, man. I love to find new music to me. Rounding this out, Matt, the silent one. Send us off, dude.
Silent Haven (55:12.305)
Well, like you said, shout out to everyone who's helped us along the way. And you can find our music on Spotify, Apple Music, everything. Amazon music, title, Deezer. we have we I don't think we have a band camp. No, but that's something we gotta set up now that you've mentioned it.
RYAN RAYLE (55:24.821)
Got a band camp?
RYAN RAYLE (55:31.551)
Get one. Bandcamp like the low key the low key merch spot for some reason.
Silent Haven (55:34.871)
Yeah, I've noticed that. Yeah. Yes, thank you. That's something I haven't thought of. But as far as us as a group collective, we are just a bunch of dumb friends hanging out just jamming, making music and laughing and just Alright, let's do that again. Don't don't take us too seriously if you see us out out and about if you're if you're in corpus, just be like what's up, dude Pretty much. I used to have this this
RYAN RAYLE (55:53.994)
Yeah, man.
RYAN RAYLE (55:59.604)
I use I used to have this this stigma where I wouldn't want to like go talk to band members, even local guys, even though I was just a local guy trying to like maybe get an interview or just maybe learn a little bit more about him. And I would always have this kind of like standoffish vibe of like, I don't want to go talk to him. I don't want to bother them. But now everybody's telling me like, no, like come fucking come talk to me. I need friends. Sign up on the list. Okay.
Silent Haven (56:23.099)
Because we're we're all we're all introverts. Bro, we're we're we're all introverted. So that's like we're gonna do that we're gonna do that list and we're gonna put your name courtesy of Ryan. Tell me your sock size. And real quick before we go, just because you mentioned it earlier, what's up with the strat in the back?
RYAN RAYLE (56:27.701)
You get the list.
RYAN RAYLE (56:34.677)
Courtes yeah, courtesy or yeah. Let me
Yeah. real quick. Okay. So I I know Matt, you're on time crunch here. So whenever we first started the podcast, my buddy told me that he gifted me this. It's still missing a string. The idea was to have it refinished or retuned by a local luthier, just or or even just some like, you know, guitar tech. But I wanted I want new pickups, I want new strings, I want it tuned, and then I am supposed to learn a song of my choice and record it.
That's the whole story. That's why it hangs here. So that's mine. I've never played it. I'm not a music guy. I love music. And, you know, I've been told to like come feature on some tracks vocally. I'm like, nope, not ready. And everybody's like, just fucking do it. And I'm like, okay. So with the birth with the birthday coming up, that's on that's on the menu. So I'm gonna give myself a year. I'm gonna give myself a nice, comfortable year. Because I also want to document it too. I wanna I wanna pass it off and I wanna tell the story of that guitar.
Silent Haven (57:23.596)
Yeah.
RYAN RAYLE (57:39.916)
It's not my guitar. It's that guitar. And it's a it's gonna be a community build and it's gonna be a community project where I'm gonna get lessons from some of the local artists here to help me out. And maybe I'll write my own single. Who fucking knows? Right. I mean, I'll feature, you know, that but and that's that would be really cool fucking local lore kind of stuff. But for me, it's not I don't want to press myself in into that. I just whenever, you know, kind of like this tattoo. I'll get it when I'm ready.
Silent Haven (57:52.005)
Do a feature on a song.
Silent Haven (58:09.05)
Yeah. When the time calls. And that's when I was just bad hours. Yeah. And I guess to add to that real quick, just two more little shout outs. paint a paint guy here in town, Joshua Blake, he's refinished multiple guitars of mine that I use. And so if you see a pink guitar or, you know, any sparkle finished guitar I have, that's him and if you know, he's he's awesome. So if you're ever looking for that, you know, hit him up. You know, I can always send it your way and then
RYAN RAYLE (58:09.801)
That thing will be restrung sometime. It's it yeah, right, you know, but for now it's just it's wall art, looks good, you know.
RYAN RAYLE (58:36.713)
y you have a pink guitar? Hold hold that thought. Hold on, I got one for you.
Silent Haven (58:38.061)
Yeah, it's a it's a pink good it's like a pink sparkle. Yeah, it's like the purple. Who watches the Hello Kitty? that is dope. That's hard. The single pickup is hard. Yeah.
RYAN RAYLE (58:53.163)
It's I don't dude, I know nothing about this except I was gifted this out of a garage because I helped this lady move. She's like, You want this guitar? It's like a PV from Best Buy? I don't know. here we here we go. P V rock map P V rock master. Tell you what, let me Rock Jesus Christ. There we go. Just fucking hang up my camera's having a fucking heart attack.
Silent Haven (58:59.537)
Looks like a P V guitar. What? That's also P V promis by I was about to say it looks like a P V guitar, bro. Like that that'll be a fucking badass like mod guitar. Yeah, mod man.
Hard bro. That's a mod one. Rock hard. Rock hard. Rock hard. And I and I guess one more one more shout out just because he's awesome. My my dog Achilles. Shout out to him. Everything is done for my for that for that guy. Yeah, shout out to all the dogs and all the babies. We all we all have pets and that's also our s our other babies in our world. So shout out to all of them for dealing with our noise.
RYAN RAYLE (59:30.751)
Shout out to the puppies.
My God.
RYAN RAYLE (59:41.9)
Well, guys, thank you very much. I'm happy that I got to share a couple couple little things from the studio because that's that's what I ultimately want is you know, I know not everybody can travel here, obviously from corpus, that'd be a fucking drive. But but you know, getting together on a Sunday afternoon and just chit chatting about who we are and where we're from, I think is important. But also sharing the music, you know, adds to it. And, you know, we'll we'll stay in contact. You know, anytime you guys have a show.
Or any kind of new anything, just send it my way. It's two clicks away from sharing it to my people. And you know, it it's it's too easy. It's too easy not to get this music out there. Plus we got the radio show. So anytime you guys have some new music, fucking send it my way and we'll play it because we build the list. Not some algorithm, not some corporate head honcho that's like, this has got that no, fuck that. I want the rawest shit that's like, you know, two days old kind of stuff. But
Silent Haven (01:00:33.051)
like, you know, two days old kind of stuff. We'll send you some demos, we'll send you the unreleased those for you to it out. You know, absolutely. Yeah, and that's the other thing, like if if you want to send me stuff, just like bounce call and stuff, I think if like a like a this might be team to the channel to put a session stuff that's funny. Yeah.
RYAN RAYLE (01:00:39.795)
Ab dude, absolutely. Yeah, and that's the other thing. Like if if you want to send me stuff just to like bounce it off of somebody, like a like a this might be too close to the chest. Let's get another sound, you another set of ears on it. I'll give you an honest, I'll give you an honest review. I will tell you like I didn't like this. I love that. You know, it's it's you know, but but but anyway, I I'll let you guys get out of here. again, thank you very much for everybody listening and watching. Again, my name is Ryan. This is the A Text Metal Podcast on my screen. These guys
Silent Haven, all the way from Corpus Christi. New band to me, new band to you. Hopefully you'll get them in your in your pre-saved and all your Spotify stuff here soon. Hopefully we can get the algorithm working the right way. maybe Matt can talk. Maybe Matt can talk to the feds. Who knows? But anyway. Anyway, we'll see you guys next time. Until then, stay safe and you know, long live the loud. Later, guys.
Silent Haven (01:01:19.596)
New advance to me, new advance to you. Hopefully you'll get out of your pre-safe and all your Spotify stuff here soon. Yeah. Just collab us on that post, man. We'll do it. Right. Anyway, we'll see you guys next time. Later, man. Stay safe and long on the plow. Later, guys.
