Hey, I'm Rick from Dutch Fluency, and today we're tackling something that confuses a lot of learners but once you get it, you'll hear it everywhere.

# De Bijzondere Lift

Lisa is een vrouw. Lisa woont in Nederland. Lisa werkt in een groot gebouw. Het gebouw is oud. Het gebouw is in Amsterdam.

In het gebouw is een lift. De lift is heel bijzonder. De lift heeft geen deuren. De lift stopt niet. De lift gaat omhoog. De lift gaat omlaag. De lift gaat altijd door.

Lisa ziet de lift elke dag. Elke dag gaat Lisa naar het werk. Elke dag ziet Lisa de lift. De lift is grappig. De lift is ook een beetje eng.

Lisa heeft een vriend. De vriend heet Tom. Tom werkt ook in het gebouw. Tom gebruikt de lift elke dag. Tom vindt de lift niet eng. Tom vindt de lift normaal.

"Kijk," zegt Tom. "Dit is een paternoster."
"Een paternoster?" zegt Lisa.
"Ja," zegt Tom. "De lift stopt niet."
"Dat is eng!" zegt Lisa.
"Nee hoor," zegt Tom. "Het is goed."

Tom stapt in de lift. De lift gaat omhoog. Tom stapt uit de lift. Tom lacht.

"Zie je?" zegt Tom. "Het is niet eng!"

Lisa kijkt naar de lift. De lift gaat omhoog. De lift gaat omlaag. De lift stopt niet.

Lisa denkt. Lisa is een beetje bang. Maar Lisa wil ook in de lift.

Lisa stapt in de lift. De lift gaat omhoog. Lisa houdt de muur vast. De lift gaat omhoog. Lisa is bang. Maar de lift is ook leuk!

Lisa stapt uit de lift. Lisa lacht ook nu.

"De lift is leuk!" zegt Lisa.
"Ja!" zegt Tom. "De lift is bijzonder."
"De lift is oud," zegt Lisa.
"Ja," zegt Tom. "Maar de lift werkt goed."

Lisa en Tom gaan naar het werk. Het werk is op de derde verdieping. De lift gaat omhoog. Lisa en Tom stappen uit.

"Morgen gebruik ik de lift weer," zegt Lisa.
"Goed!" zegt Tom.

De lift gaat omhoog. De lift gaat omlaag. De lift stopt niet. De lift is bijzonder. De lift is in Amsterdam. De lift is oud maar goed.
