Hello and welcome to 5 Minutes Design News.
I'm Sheila, your host.
Today is May 27, 2025,
and we've got two big AI-driven stories
that are changing how designers work.
We'll dive into Framer's latest event announcements
and Shopify's new AI Store Builder.
But first, let's warm up with a quiz question.
Hi, Sheila. Great to be here.
I'm excited to explore how AI is reshaping design workflows
and online storefront creation.
Quiz time!
Which Framer tool introduced at the recent event uses AI to build responsive websites from ready-made content?
Is it A. Wireframer, B. Vectors 2.0, or C. Advanced Analytics? Take a moment to think about it.
It's a tough choice if you haven't heard the details yet. We'll come back to the answer at the end of the show.
OK Victor, let's start with Framer. What did they announce?
Framer's biggest reveal is Wireframer, an AI-powered tool
that takes your content, text and images, and automatically lays out a fully
responsive website. You only need to adjust styling. It's ideal for rapid
prototypes or even full sites. They also upgraded Vectors 2.0 with instant SVG
editing on dedicated canvases. That means you can tweak shapes and paths in real
time, rather than juggling layers. And finally, Advanced Analytics now bundles
A/B testing, conversion funnels, and click heat maps into a single platform.
so designers and product managers can measure user behavior without switching tools.
So designers can go from idea to data-driven insights in one place.
That sounds like a game-changer for small teams.
Exactly. You launch a page with Wireframer, iterate the look with Vectors 2.0
and then track how users interact, all within Framer.
Now on to our second story, Shopify's AI Store Builder. What's new there?
Shopify introduced an AI...
powered store builder. You type a prompt like 'tennis gear' and it generates a
complete storefront, layouts, product pages, even mock images. They also
enhanced Sidekick, their merchant assistant, to include voice chat and
screen sharing so support teams can jump in live. Plus, the new Horizon theme is
fully AI enabled and offers no code theme blocks, letting merchants tweak
designs without writing code. That lets business owners get online faster and
get help in real time.
very powerful for small shops.
And Sidekiq's user base has more than doubled since December,
showing strong demand for AI guidance.
Vocabulary Spotlight time.
Let's look at four key terms from today's news.
First, AI tool.
Software that uses artificial intelligence to automate tasks.
For example, Wireframer is an AI tool that builds web layouts.
Second, responsive design.
An approach that ensures web pages look good on any device by adjusting layout.
and content automatically. Third, A/B testing. Comparing two versions of a page
to see which performs better. You might test two headlines and measure clicks.
Finally, no code. Building software or pages without writing code, often through
visual interfaces or blocks. Perfect. Now for the big reveal, our quiz answer. Which
tool builds responsive sites from content? It's A. Wireframer. That's right.
Wireframer leverages A.
to lay out your content so you focus on branding and style. Today we covered
Framer's event updates, Wireframer, Vectors 2.0 and Advanced Analytics, and
Shopify's new AI Store Builder with Sidekick enhancements and the Horizon
theme. Thanks for tuning in to 5 Minutes Design News. If you enjoyed this episode,
