As you listen to this passage, reflect on how shifting your focus from temporary things to eternal things can transform your life and priorities. Don't store up treasures here on earth where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will be also. Matthew six nineteen through 21.
Jehzale Crockett:How can you begin to focus on storing up eternal treasures rather than temporary ones? Jesus challenges us in Matthew six to evaluate where we're investing our time, energy, and resources. He warns us not to store up treasures on earth where they are fleeting and temporary, but to focus on treasures in heaven, things that have eternal value. Think about your current priorities. Where is your focus?
Jehzale Crockett:Are you caught up in accumulating possessions, achievements, or status that will fade away? Or are you seeking to store up treasures in heaven, things that are everlasting and rooted in God's kingdom? Imagine this scene. Imagine yourself sitting on the edge of a vast open field. In the distance, you see an unchanging horizon, an eternal landscape that stretches beyond what you can see.
Jehzale Crockett:The field is peaceful, bathed in golden light. As you stand there, you notice that in your hands, you are holding treasures. Some are fading, crumbling, and some are untouched, shining bright. These treasures represent the choices you've made with your time and energy. Jesus stands beside you, gazing over the horizon and gently invites you to lay down the treasures that are fading and instead focus on the eternal ones.
Jehzale Crockett:As you do, the treasures in your hands begin to glow with lasting beauty. The things that matter most, love, service, faith, begin to take their rightful place in your heart and you feel a sense of peace that comes from knowing your focus is aligned with God's eternal will. Take a moment to reflect on what you're investing in. What does your time say about where your heart is? Right now, breathe deeply.
Jehzale Crockett:And as you exhale, release any attachment to things that are temporary. Ask God to help you realign your heart with his eternal purposes. Consider one way you can shift your focus today, whether it's giving, serving, or focusing on relationships that honor God. When your heart is set on eternal treasures, your perspective on everything changes. God calls us to live with an eternal mindset, where his kingdom and his will are our true priorities.
Jehzale Crockett:As you go about this week, may you walk with an internal perspective, seeking treasures that are lasting and investing in things that reflect the heart of God. May your heart and priorities align with his kingdom, and may you find peace in knowing that your true treasures are stored in heaven where they will never fade.
