Chapter 1: Intro to Discovering Tulsa Oklahoma

okay so we are starting a podcast about living in Tulsa Oklahoma um for my specifically for my YouTube subscribers

who are thinking about relocating to Tulsa and so they watch my videos and they know Tulsa from my point of view

but I really want to help them know Tulsa from other people's point of view people that um I respect and are you know important that do work in Tulsa and

so that is kind of the well that is exactly um why this podcast started so very first question is what is your

favorite thing about living in Tulsa Oklahoma so I love living in Tulsa because there's great people here I love you know you can go out and just

randomly meet people people are very conversational and they're very friendly Tulsa just such an accepting area and you know I traveled for many years for

work and everywhere has great people right but I've always loved and drawn coming back um um because they're just

such a good accepting culture of Tulsa it's like a really big you know small town and so I think that's one of my

favorite things about it it's very easy if you come from out of town to just Dive Right In meet people meet friends

and it's such a there's really actually a lot to do once you kind of get within Circles of people so I think that's one of the things that I personally love

about Tulsa and especially with kids like you know it's such a good place to raise kids and families because like I

said it is a big small town you know like you I mean it's it's it's good cuz there's a lot to do but then you still can kind of keep an eye on your kids and

know what's going with them too so I love that part about it for sure yeah you know exactly what's going on with the kids so you said you've um been different places like what places so

you've lived in other states or well I've lived in Oklahoma but you know for many years I traveled for work and I

would just travel all over the place and get to visit places but I've always just loved you know Tulsa in general so growing up in the western part of the

state it's like what people think of as Oklahoma it's dirt it's tumble weeds and then I actually had a friend I met you know right around you know college and I

came up here with him over the summer just to hang out stay a couple days when I was in my like 20 years old and I'm

like whoo there's trees there's Hills there's not dirt in my face I don't wake up and wipe dirt out of my eyes being from the western part of the state like

that was kind of a normal thing so I'm like but it's still got the amazingness of what Oklahoma is which is genuine good people and so as funny as sounds I

Chapter 2: Overview of Tulsa's History and Culture

within 3 months moved to Tulsa and I was like this is my place and I just knew that you know Tulsa was my spot so and

I've been here for 20 over 20 years now okay so one thing um you know that I hear my clients say is you know people

are super friendly here um they really do enjoy that and they can tell like just when they come into town cuz usually you know people are coming into town a couple of days that are

relocating and so they definitely feel that friendliness but how do you make friends um you know living in a place so

you said you know within three months you were here like what' you do to make friends so some of the neat things about tuls is really every you know tuls

itself has a really good Chamber of Commerce there's a lot of cool networking events that go on with that where you can meet people there's tyos

there's all kinds of you know social events and even you know down town like goth three green has you know the first Friday there's all kinds of cool things

like that um the Gathering Place has an event schedule there's so many social Gatherings out there that you have to

tie into Tulsa and you know obviously social media now there's easy ways to tie into to all those things and so it's one of the things I I love about Tulsa

is I feel like there is always something you know going on right and so there's always some you know way you can tie into it and and really truthfully

downtown once again we talked about gine but even just the other attached things if you're going to like a Driller game or something like that because I mean

truthfully there it's actually a lot of fun I've been to multiple games there's just there if you're looking for something to do it's maybe not as much

as like a bigger city right but some of the benefits is it's still small in the sense of like there's no 4our rush hour

Chapter 3: Exploring Tulsa's Unique Attractions

traffic type craziness right so I would just say you know there's easy ways to get tied in there's lots of Social

Circles especially even through work related you know type events and and I know we're at a lot of those too right so you know we were just at a you know a

social event over at a brewery here you know this week and met even met new people right we did and that's one of the best things about Tulsa is I'm

always still meeting new people even though I know a lot being here for 20 you know 20 years so there's always cool stuff like that and I will say this just

from a point too like you are somebody that is definitely um very social and and engaging and like easy to meet new

people I'm somebody that is more introverted so I can meet new people too so there is the opportunity so like even

you know both personality Styles no yeah 100% And you know once again because people majority of people in tlsa are

very easy to approach and they're very easy to talk to um you know so like for example and and I guess I'm probably

good to go out with you know if you go to a place like Valkyrie right which is a place downtown like they kind of have these big 's and so like you have to kind of like shift

yourself in there to sit down well I'm always meeting new people whenever I go out with friends so we're like hey here's our three person friend group I'm like hey can we sit in there with you

and be like yeah and then we just meet new people and so those are just some of the fun things um where I haven't seen that as much in other places it's just a

real neat component to Tulsa I think yeah I think that's very true and people are I mean you just have to ask like

like you said just hey can we you know sit in here with you um you just have to ask and Valkyrie reminds me of a little like Harry Potter bar like that place is

so cool and their drinks are beautiful um their concoctions are amazing they're not what are they called they're not concoctions what's it called it's called

a mixologist mixologist yeah that's what they call them yeah so so cool but Valkyrie is absolutely one of my favorite places and um just the neat

Ambiance there yeah see I love that and even in places too I've had the same experience like if we go to like Mayo rooftop especially you know you've got a

whole outdoor you know the kind of the rooftop patio but then you got the inside and then you're meeting new people and it's kind of that similar

thing and it's also kind of because there's weddings every weekend is a different deal like I went there the other weekend they had karaoke and

there's people from a wedding you know singing karaoke up there so it's kind of fun there's the that's the good thing about the the Mayo it's a cool rooftop

bar but there's lots of fun stuff always going to every weekend's a different crowd so that's those are kind of like my you know Goto two spots within Tulsa

for sure yeah the Mayo is a great place yeah that was going to be the one of the questions I asked you so that's your favorite place as um you know as an adult to go to yeah I mean I would say

downtown in general right one of the things that is so cool about Tulsa and I would say just my place to go to I Really Love downtown but even Cherry

Street and mid Midtown I feel like they all have their own personality and that's something NE in Tulsa you know downtown kind of has you know like I

call it like the maybe the Speak Easy Vibe where you've got B in the alley or Boston tile and Abstract where you know you kind of go into like a alley and

it's a secret passageway or you go down three stairs and you know there's all these like hidden cool places that if you kind of know where they're at it's

super fun so I love that part of downtown and then you know there's you know so there's just a lot of places where they have their own personality they have their own style and you kind

of see the same you know style of people and they just kind of hang out in those areas but it's fun to move around too so I'd say I'm a downtown person MH but and

I do love that we continue to gain new restaurants I feel like we're a real food Centric place right I do too and so we were talking about that the other day

because there's a really good new Mexican food place today and then and then I sat I was like you know what I'm just going to go eat there tonight right and so that's a cool thing about

downtown is there's always new things and there's also even a Facebook group um it's called 918 like 8 at and I have

some friends that they run that and they're always eating new restaurants always posting reviews so I kind of pull from that to see Hey where's new places

new reviews and they do like some meetups here and there so I think those are just some new things good place to get involved yeah especially who doesn't like food right exactly and so that's a

great way once again to kind of tie in like we talked about into you know the the Tulsa atmosphere and so I would say

because I travel a lot and I am a big-time foodie and all you know I go to all different restaurants and I'm telling you Tulsa's got so many

like super local great amazing restaurants that have like a great Ambiance a great feel amazing food like

I would put us up against um east and west coast and people think I'm crazy but I would no it I I feel like that is

100% true I mean we have you know places like Bodin that have fresh food flown in

Chapter 4: Culinary Delights: Must-Try Restaurants in Tulsa

every single day and it's super good and like if you looked at it like when you drive like there's no way this is like a

nice like seafood restaurant and you're like you go there you're like wow like this is if I went to like you know a bay

area and it had really good you know Seafood yeah and so that's kind of one one of those like I call it like a you

know a hidden gym for Tulsa right where you know kind of some locals know like that is like the spot for good you know

seafood and so it's Super Fresh I don't know I'm a big kind of like oyster crab type person and so like you said people

Trav and then we can kind of you know you know shape it up like okay that's the local place that's amazing I love it like I said they they fly and stuff

daily and they've got a market there too which you can buy stuff from so that's one of my favorites you know as far as when we're talking about like little

hidden spots within yeah you know Tulsa for sure that's definitely a Hidden Gem and one that I think people um forget about and like you said if you just

drove by it you would never know to go in there or want to go in there but it's definitely a place that you have to so because it's like in like like kind of

like a strip mall SL like you know there's like a supermarket there kind of like you wouldn't think like that's one of the best places to eat in Tulsa right but that's also what's kind of neat

about Tulsa like it say everywhere's kind of got its little identities and like there's just I mean it's just an interesting Tulsa is such an interesting

area and there's so many you know different pockets of you know of culture and and really history because you know during the oil boom was when it really

blew up so you've got some real history you know with those things you know the tuls area they're real fun I know um our

art deco is amazing yes and um you know explaining that because it's so weird like you're in Oklahoma like why do we have this Art Deco but because of the

oil boom you know we we had people instead of doing like the normal migration patterns you know we had people coming in from the East Coast um

with a lot of money and so we have this just one of the biggest Art Deco um areas in the nation yeah and it is super

amazing um have you ever done the tours with um TFA I think it's TFA at Tulsa Foundation of architecture have you ever done any

of their but I've seen a lot of the stuff I mean I know just being here forever you you can't help but notice a ton of it and also being in construction

and in Roofing obviously like I'm on roofs all the time and some of them happen to be you know from that era too yeah okay so that's a perfect segue um

to introduce you so you have um you're a local small business owner so you have one of the best roofing companies in in

Oklahoma um in the Tulsa area epic Roofing and I'm not just saying this cuz he's here with me but I've s like I sent

you um to my sister yes like so um any kind of roofing issue I'm always going to call Chris out there um and have him

look at things um but you also have just started solar too which is not big in Tulsa right but yeah so two businesses

and that's just starting off yeah so we've done roofing for you know going on our seventh year now and you know we've won contractor of the year we've been in

you know build magazine I did a show channel too so we've done a lot of great things in Contracting but you know we wanted to we you know like Wayne Gretzky

always would say you know skate to where the puck is going and I see from the coast we're starting to get more you know conscious of this thing and the

truth is is that the power grid is is a real you know legitimate issue and so understanding these things and kind of where everything's going you know the

government's giving you know credit tax credit incentives we were like you know what we're already a roofing company we're already servicing these people why

not offer you know solar as well you know help people get lower you know electric bills um you know help really

the City of Tulsa and the power grid here so those are some things that were really you know important to us once again it's another added benefit something else we can help our customers

with and so you know and if we can't help somebody if it's not a fit for them that's totally fine you know but we had people that were requesting it and there

just really wasn't a local source for it not no there wasn't um and it's funny because um my clients you know my

YouTube clients you guys uh a lot of you know questions they want or things you know that they want is solar and I'm like well you know most of our houses

don't have solar right um so it is something I was when you told me that you were doing that I was like okay that will be you know a really great fit for the people that are wanting that because

it's not common here at all yeah and we've just focused on you know um fitting it to where let's just say someone's electric bill is $300 we build

a system to where that's $300 so they no longer have an electric bill and now they they're paying and building Equity into their solar system for what they

would have been paying you know on their bill but they get to lock that price and so you know every year um one of the the

good things about Tulsa is historically we've had low power rates you know how however you know inflation makes

everything go Riser you know rise up you know and you know we do have storms and so the you know electricity bill always going to go up just a little bit and we

say three or 4 per. so if you lock in a lower Bill and it continues to grow up 5 6 seven years 10 years that can be 20 30

$40,000 in savings which we can all figure something out for that right you know so that's really when I understood it and I felt like Hey we're really

giving people a benefit we're really going to be able to help people out and that's our goal I feel like anytime I'm able to help someone else and add value

to them that's what we want to do if we can't add value we can't help somebody we're just not going to do it cuz our brand our image that's like so important to us just like you right yeah well and

just like you were telling um Shauna Shauna's been a guest on this show um you know you're like it doesn't make

sense for you guys right exact and you know you just told her that like yeah it's it's not what you guys need so I love that and that's what you know

that's just having that comfort that you can send somebody to and you know that they're not going to get screwed like and yeah exactly I mean once again you

know our brand our reputation who we are and that's more important than you know a quick sale or quick money or anything

like that and that's what we tell everybody whether it's riffing or now whether it's solar like we're here I have an office here you can call me like

I'll be there and so that's one of the things we're real you know Tulsa Metro focused like this is this is where we plant our flag we're not traveling we're

not going us like we are here and you can come see us in our office you know you'll see you know see us driving around you see me you know out and about

like we're friends like all that good stuff so yeah I love that okay so you know Shifting the conversation a little bit um who and this wasn't on the

question the questions that I was going to ask you um but do you have a favorite small B business owner or a business um a small business that you admire um as

far as a small business in Tulsa I mean I've got a lot of friends um gosh I've got a ton of friends in Tulsa that own

you know small businesses um you know that's such a tough it's such a load of question because I've got thousands of friends

that own small business um you know I'm trying to think I've got some good friends that own Magnolia Soap Company and that's a real localized um so Drew

and Scotty Lawrence they they are the the owners of that they are actually as funny as it sounds in the first like 10

roofs we ever did so I you know as far as a company I'll always be grateful for that they own some rental home homes

they actually had us do one of the rental houses this year we give all of our gift baskets at like the broker open

you guys do great baskets so we support them too because I think that's how I feel like that's how life works you know if someone's supporting us like I'm

going to support them and so we give all the you know the Brokers opens I'll go get a big gift basket and I'll do that for them too and so but they've won

multiple they amazing so like I said it's I I feel like I'm I might be getting some calls and some people may

be like I thought you know we were um you know so I'm just throwing them out I love everybody else too if you watch this Okay Tulsa has a ton of great local

small businesses and I mean small businesses make up your community of course we've got the big employers but you know small business is the heart of

it yes yes 100% yes um there I know that there's plenty um that you could give accolades to but I do agree that

Magnolia um is pretty amazing so my my son will always get me Mother's Day presents from there so yeah I absolutely

love it he knows that that's you know that's the way to do it I actually want to start making um like little packets for my clients you know just their

little gift basket like um the Oklahoma soaps like shape like Oklahoma because they'll do that for you yeah and too like if you're coming to the area they

have classes and you can do classes and make your own soaps and they do all kinds of fun stuff like that it's not just you can go buy stuff there there's

all the other sides of of neat things and they'll really custom build anything so I mean I I highly recommend if you're

moving here yeah to go check it out for sure yeah so a a fun thing okay so if we

could wave a magic wand and you could live in any neighborhood in the Tulsa area what neighborhood would you live in

it's funny because I probably would live across the street for myself right now I absolutely love where I live at

Chapter 5: Diving into Tulsa's Distinct Neighborhoods

now um I live in Tulsa Hills so I'm right off Highway 75 and if you understand Tulsa it's really built on a

big like it's kind of like a square a or like a a big circle and you you've got four intersecting highways and it just

goes circular so it's super easy to get around so I'm like right off 75 so I can hop on and get anywhere but across the street they're building neighbors's just

a little bit bigger lot and looks I mean a little bit better Landscaping so me let's really talk about it like let's

lay it out talk about like what those lots cost and you know I mean they're what are they

going for like 275 so yeah 275 is a starter for a lot there and then go all the way up to 675 now that's like a 2 acre lot so you're getting a good amount

of land and you're going to be in one of the most exclusive you know communities in the area the good thing about tool cell is everything there for all intensive purposes let's say just say

90% is all brand new built so it's all very nice very good area and then you have everything like you really need you

know right there by you so I think that's and then you're right off the highway so a 15 minutes from downtown I'm 15 minutes the opposite way to my

work uh but I can hop in that Loop get anywhere and do anything super quick so that's why I love the area and that's

why I'm like you know what I might just be able to jump across the street so yeah and what is that um what is that neighborhood called they haven't I don't think

they've they I think seen the development we haven't seen the name yet they just started building the first house like it just like they haven't

even ped the foundation they're literally like because they're just finishing up the development so they don't have I think official name yet but

I'll figure it out when they do for sure yeah and so one of the things that we're going to do um that I'm going to try to do that I Envision as this podcast is

for every podcast that we do having like a part two and the part two being where we're like boots on the ground so all the things that we're talking about like

so you know let's show them what Bodin is let's show them this neighborhood you know Tulsa Hills so like not only are they getting to hear us talk about it

but you know in the second half they can kind of they can see you know what we're talking about and everything so we'll have to go and check that out yeah I

think it's fun like I said and and it really give a good preview to Tulsa and there's so like I said these are some of like the the real cool like hidden gyms

and you know of Tulsa that would you know really like we said really a lot of ways rival your east and west coast like

really nice places yeah um I had someone email me um being so confused they're like some things we read that Tulsa you

know has some great culture and um has some great neighborhoods and is really great and then sometimes we read that

the crime is crazy um which I mean Tulsa if you look it up the crime is crazy yeah um but that's like what statistics

can do I mean and you can make I mean you can make data anything that you want it to be on a statistic but you know how do you feel as far as

safety like when you're in Tulsa yeah safety is fine the truth is if we want to get down to it is that we have more reported reported crime probably than

anywhere else I mean you can't do hardly anything in Tulsa without somebody being like Oh my gosh like the truth is if you

want to look at what the crime is probably reported and I don't have the numbers or statistics but it's probably um you know getting pulled over for

speeding tickets if we want to be real honest um you know cuz when I traveled it's funny like I've traveled other places and you you never see anybody

pulled over over right or because you know some of the bigger cities they're focused on what I would call like real crime or real issues not that we don't

have stuff like that but I feel like that makes our crime numbers maybe look a little worse because those types of

things kind of factor in you know to it right and so um whereas some of the other places that's not necessarily like

as you know prevalent but I feel super safe I and I I know because you know my kids go to school with one of the head people like really high up in the police

department and so we become friends and you know they are doing National huge recruiting you know initiatives and

they're they're hiring more and building the police department here which is awesome to me yeah and so I feel personally you know really safe and I

think Tulsa is doing an amazing job of growing their police force with the community you know they're not just

keeping it the same as we grow so I think I feel like things are are really good around here to be honest from that perspective and I think that our police

force I mean for the most part has like a good relationship with the community um like I think I mean you're going to

wave at a police officer you know um yeah one of my good friends is a police officer we're we're big OU fans we went

to OU Texas this year we go to OU games and so yeah I mean I I know quite a few you know you know people that are you

know police officers here and I would say you know you know I don't know all of them but all the ones I know are people just like us that just happens to

be their profession they all really good people and um you know I've I couldn't have I have only got good things to say

about the the Tulsa Police Department for sure they've been great to you know to me um they've been great to everybody

I know in the area so yeah um my son got pulled over one of my sons got pulled over before they've all been pulled over

they're boys I mean they drive when we pulled over and um I I wrote a letter to the police officer that pulled

him over and I was just like thank you for doing your job you know um my son was so mad at me he was like

mom um but I mean you know we I do think that you need to um support um you know

support everybody and yeah I mean ultimately if something goes on you want to know you've got a great support system around here and we do like I 100%

see it believe it and I'm just I've never seen anything but you know good good things and and you know no no one's

perfect nothing's perfect right but from everything I've seen all very good well-intentioned people that are you know about

protecting the good citizens in Tulsa and that's what I've seen and and that's that's what I hold to and you know like

I said nothing's perfect right but I I couldn't say any the great things from what I've seen and they do cool stuff too like they do where the firefighters

and the uh you know Police Department do that boxing match every year I think that's fun right like that's kind of a neat thing where you can kind of go

watch them do that and stuff and I just think that those little things are cool for the community to see like hey these are real people yeah you know and and

just doing fun stuff like that's great yeah that is great now from where you live because you are in you're in Tulsa

but you're in Jinx School District yes so is is your Police Department Tulsa Police Department dep or Jinx Police Department it's it would be Tulsa yeah

so I'm in Jinx School District but I'm in you know Tulsa Tulsa yeah I'm technically in Tulsa oh no that's not west Tulsa that's I know I'm in Tulsa

cuz I know my taxes are Tulsa cuz they're technically less than Jinx right so but um you know my my kids actually

go to Metro right um which is right you know there in that area so which if you're in a private school it's a huge college preparatory school uh of the

area and we have one ful things to say about it it's been a great school for us our kids love it um it's really kind of

like um living in Tulsa but with a small town feel right because for example like my son who's 13 and 11 now he has a

phone which is crazy but all the kids in the class are in a text group so you have all the kids they all have phones and they all text each other in the big

text group and have conversations which you're not going to get that out like a big school not that there's anything wrong cuz Jinx is a great school there's tons of great public schools and stuff

but I kind of grew up in like a smaller town you know and I kind of feel like as a parent it is it's good like cuz I know

everything that's going on I know all the kids' parents we all text each other we're all friends too so I just think kind of as a parent I like the little

you know smaller town feel so to say but the public schools here are great too it's just more of a personal preference

of I like to know you know my son's friends I like to know their parents and we'd like to have that cultural angle

anywhere we go we would like that we would like to get to know the families and who we're doing life with till they graduate yes exactly so um Tulsa

Metro what is that graduating population uh for like just Tulsa Public Schools no for your oh

Chapter 6: Understanding Tulsa's Vibrant Community

it'san oh you're talking about you metr Christian that's your wait is that where they go Metro Christian yeah yeah metr Christian Academy I believe it's right

around 100 125 it's in that a good number yeah like 2 a to 3 a for

each you know classification so it's not you know it's not real big like I said everybody knows everybody and you can't

really get away with anything right which is great me as a parent exactly when I was a kid I hated it right yes yeah perfect as a parent okay so for the

kids like as a family what's your favorite thing to do in the Tulsa area um with the kids I would say and and this is evolved over time one of the

places that younger kids love as the Gathering Place I mean that's a big you know thing for Tulsa and you can go all

the time have tons of fun as a matter of fact um with our kids and friends we took walkie-talkies with us and they

would play tags so we could kind of like hey where you at what's going on cuz you know there's a thousand kids just spread

out right so we had like the clips on the side walkie-talkies where you at you know hey what's going on we're meeting about you know all that good stuff but

that's also what's cool about Tulsa we can do that even though you know they have the walkie-talkie they do have security they do have people there so when I you know probably three years ago

I would say three out of four weekends were at the Gathering Place cuz they're wanting to run around and have fun and there's so much to do there you know now that my kids are a little bit older

there's Airsoft Tulsa that's like a big deal for them like they want to go play Airsoft and uh shoot the little airsoft guns um you know so they're doing that

or they'll go to like the flying tea or uh today they're doing like miniature golf um with a bunch of them they're always doing something like that so

there's that big miniature golf course um that they they like to go to so I think those are kind of some of the things where my kids being 11 and 13

that's really kind of where they're at and what they like whereas like I said a couple years ago Gathering Place was like the deal so I know the Gathering

Place is amazing um like a total huge gift um that Tulsa has and just complete

completely incredible for adults for kids I mean I wish my kids are older and so they didn't get to enjoy the Gathering Place you know they've done

dates there you know in the Gathering Place but I didn't get to take them to the parks like that would have been I mean those are just amazing you know the

kids yeah and now the Tulsa Children's Museum is right there and so if you've got kids that age it's brand new they're they do all kinds of fun stuff and

there's camps there um there's just and what's crazy is they still got more development they've got more cool stuff

they're going to be adding you over time cuz they bought some more land you know within there so I I foresee it to continue to go and I think it's just

such a a cool thing for for Tulsa there and then you know right there they're also doing that big skate park yes as well so they're just adding and doing

cool stuff yeah it's it's really amazing and they're developing the river um going to be some like big time kaying

and some great stuff going on so I mean I feel like Tulsa just keeps getting better and better and what do you think it's been 20 years in the making has it

been longer than that yeah there's been all these initiatives passed and then you had someone like George Kiser who awesome you know stepped up bought land

donated money you know said hey I want people to match us and I want people to do this and so really helping you know to develop you know Tulsa and then they

did that initiative where um you know people they entrepreneurs could get like $10,000 to move here so I just feel like

you know Tulsa is really doing a lot to to you know to develop out and to really you know bring in I mean great diversity

you know from around the country yeah um so Tulsa remote is that program and uh George Kaiser has to be one of the most

phenomenal humans in the absolute world I mean he is his story um you know is just amazing too so we are so blessed to

you know to have him here and what he's doing for Tulsa but yeah Tulsa remote um for you guys listening um look that up

I've done a video on it but you have to apply but if you are a remote worker um it can't be in Oklahoma but you could

have to be a remote worker they will pay you $10,000 to move here um and then you get hooked up like the things that they

do um to get them involved you can get involved in um volunteering they have events all the time like anything that

you're interested in there's probably a group for that but the people that go through Tulsa remote a lot of people end up staying here which is the goal they

wanted to stay here to grow roots to build businesses um but you're so intertwined and so connected that you

make friends and you do stay here so I can't say enough good things about toso remote that's an amazing program yeah it's so neat so I was at Q clo here here

a couple months back and the girl that was tailoring a suit jacket I was getting uh I asked her what you know she was from here you know just making

conversation talking to her she's like she came here as like a you know a custom seamstress um in you know you know to do

that here and so like that was she came in to set up the H clo year and as an independent you know person and so she's

like I moved here specifically you know because of that program and so I thought that was neat to meet someone that and I was like are you saying what are you doing she's like yeah I love it here now

that I've actually came here and I've got involved and stuff like that which reminds me you know UDA you know Square

like that's right there by the Gathering Place and that's where that's at so there's a lot of cool stuff in there um I think if people are wanting like I

said we talk about like just the different cultures that's a really cool you know cultured area um down in that that place oh yeah that's that's a

really cool area um which kind of goes you know we're talking about udus Square we're talking about shopping so what is your favorite place to shop in Tulsa

yeah I mean that's that's really kind of the area that I would say we you know shop the most you know I think that um

as far as me like um in Tulsa like that's going to be your best custom clothing that's going to be your you know your nicer um outdoor wear area

stuff I mean even um you know furniture down there they've got nice furniture stores nice restaurants it's a really

classy high-end area and I mean I think that uh if I'm looking for something nice or dressy um you know that's where

I I go I had to get a jacket for the OU Texas weekend the one and so like I I just had to do it cuz like I knew oh you

would win and of course you know they won of course so no I mean but that was you know so I was what I was doing was

talking with her and that area is just great it's a it's got a lot of options um really I think for whatever you're looking for so that's probably my

favorite you know the more I thought about it like that would be probably my favorite area to go shopping and do stuff like that yeah it it is a great area it's our I think it's our best

shopping area um we're still not now if you want to go to you know Louis Vuitton or Chanel or something like that you're

gonna have to go to Dallas right right um but that is UDA square is our high-end shopping area and it has everything you need um word is that

there might be some of that at the new Jinx shopping are that's not a guarantee I don't want to promise that that's what someone told me which I've heard wrong

information before but that's what people are trying to tell me so I can't wait to find out what's coming there right and they're moving really fast like it's supposed to be done by what

July this year I think I think so so I think that's going to be a huge opening right there to continue that Riverwalk area yes and just bring in more value to

the Tulsa you know River District if you want to call it that yeah yeah that's exciting what's your favorite Tulsa

suburb uh you know it's funny because it's actually probably Broken Arrow like and I'm that's like the furthest one

away now granted I love Bigsby I love Jinx like I love all of them like it's here and tell you many amazing things

about all of them I think the one thing I like about ba is I I feel like they're downtown I really kind of like what they've done with it and how it kind of

gives you the real small town feel but it's got some really neat cool places down there there are great restaurants or great little like what you consider

like old school you know downtown places you can kind of pop in and Shop um I think that's really cool but then there's also other parts of va that are

like really brand new and up and coming they've got that new ampath year going right so I think that I love that they're building that out so I just feel

like that that ba has a lot of good stuff like that um going on so I love what they're doing over there in VA so

I'm not over there as much as I want but actually you know since I am driving around the city all the time looking at roofs I I am over there when I am I

enjoy it I love eating at the restaurants I love that part of town even though like I said there I I don't feel like there's a bad part

of the Tulsa Metro I feel like it's all good and but if I had to pick one if you made me pick one that would be it okay

what's your favorite restaurant there in ba oh that's a tough one I like um rustic Chop House is probably my

favorite I think that they do really good steaks if you're into like good good steaks so I would say if I had to

pick one that would be it for sure okay and they have a magnolia there they do yeah yeah and they've got like a little like local Winery place that's really

good and there's just a lot of neat stuff in that little like you know Main Street Corridor area USA Today named um

Rose District like one of the most Charming main streets so I mean definitely it is it's know it's super cool and there um have you seen which

it's a little bit off of Main Street but there um the veterans statues that they have um those

are so cool I I'm going to have to check it out check it out I mean it's possible there's times when I'm looking for an

address that like I probably drove right by it you know but I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for that uh for sure that's I mean they're always doing neat stuff over there so and that's the good

thing about not just Tulsa but the surrounding areas are consistently growing they're consistently developing and you know making it you know such a

good place to be at and so many new things to accommodate and to grow and develop with the population growth here

with us so I think I just think the Tulsa Metro's really got it together it does I I agree with you on that but it can't be all you know sunshine and Roses

so if you had to say um you know your Le least favorite thing about the Tulsa area um because we want to give The Good the Bad and the Ugly exactly totally so

what would that be here's probably the the most ironically funny thing I would say about Tulsa is you know because of our extreme Heats and our extreme colds

we do have some Road issues and when you come here you're that's going to be one thing but the funniest part I find is

that Tulsa it feel like it takes them a little while to maybe pass these bills or whatever they got to do for these projects but when they do it for

whatever reason they decide to do all of them at one time that's the funniest thing it'll be like you know you're like

gosh when are they going to fit to these roads when are they and then it's like you've got seven streets that are all right next to each other and everyone has construction going on you're like

okay I want this done just not all at the same time like I need somewhere to get quick so it's like they're working on it but it's like okay I need to be

able to like figure out a path to get here without traffic and without all this construction so um that's always the joke about um Tulsa is the state

flower is the uh the big orange cones right and so um and then I I like to joke if you're over by on 75 um with I

think it's i44 cross I call it the Oklahoma Stone hinge right like they built all these big on ramps for and then nothing and they left it so I

just think those things make me laugh um it just it's kind of one of those things where I mean you know it is what it is

um we've got Road stuff and it's always going to be an issue it's always going to be going on but you just you kind of learn to live with it over here and kind of know that that's just that's just

Tulsa right yeah actually my husband and I were talking about that the other day he's like you just need to tell people that come around here we just really like our football on our goalpost that's

it that's it but it's so funny and I guess I I I heard and I haven't fact checked this that they ran out of money and so they just had to pause the

project but I did hear it's going to start up again it would didn't surprise me like I said it it's they have to wait till they need four more construction

projects simultaneously to get that one continue cuz they got they probably got too much done now we need to wait until we have four other ones and then we'll

do all them at once so that's my joke right with yeah so we had to find our traffic work around right so it's funny I actually I I mean cuz I'm driving

around a lot checking out roofs or going into job sites and so I GPS everywhere to see which is the red areas and not so

it'll GPS me like even if I know where to go I'm still gpsing to get around to my right so that's actually maybe a

little hack if anybody's wondering even if you know where you're going still GPS it because it'll tell you if there's any

traffic okay nice so nice and then last question is who is your tulson that you

most admire well that's you we kind of talked about George Kaiser I feel like I mean we've got you know a billionaire here who not didn't just sit on his

money he's giving away he's donating and the Gathering Place wasn't it you know if you look at downtown and the guthy greens and all the stuff that he's done

there I think it's just amazing you know it's really brought Tulsa to life um you know a lot of people that I know say we're kind of like a smaller version of

like an Austin Texas you know and we were talking about earlier we got lots of like breweries we've got really cultured downtown um and and so I feel

like there's you know it's been brought up and it's continuing to grow right it's continuing to grow up and I had a friend he just moved downtown to live at

the the Mayo because he's like I just I want to be downtown I want to be in the mix of everything yeah and so it's just because it's getting it's continuing to

grow it's continuing to get better so it is it's it's so neat to watch how fun it's getting and what Al Tulsa is doing

so I absolutely love it yeah so but yeah I I love PSA I I I enjoy traveling I'm

like other people like but I always enjoy coming back I always enjoy you know fitting in you know getting back in

the groove with all the people I know and work with and meeting new people and I just think that's what I mean you know we talk about Tulsa is just incredible

yeah well thank you for being on with us and I know that people um definitely enjoy hearing Tulsa through your perspectiv abolutely and we'll look

forward to the part two when we um you know go through and show all the things that we were talking about so thank you for being on with us today if you're
