From The Torch Podcast Network, This is The Chimes Weekly. I’m Matthew Garcia, here to start off your week with major headlines and what’s coming up. It’s Monday, March 30.

Talbot professors are often seen by students as academic mentors who answer questions and doubts about the Christian faith. However, they are brothers and sisters in Christ who also ask questions and wrestle with doubt. In a story by Chimes writer Connor Do, several Talbot professors were asked about ways they struggle in their walks of faith.

When asked about difficulties in following God, this is what Associate Professor of Old Testament, Dr. Carmen Imes, said:

Biola’s dive team delivered one of its strongest seasons in recent years, fueled by athletes stepping up in key moments. One such athlete was senior Caleb Pook, who made an inspiring comeback from injury. With a renewed mindset, he exceeded expectations at the national level.

Today is Biola’s Admitted Student Day! If you see admitted students and their families around campus or in your classrooms, make sure to give them a warm welcome!

This week, from Tuesday to Wednesday, Spiritual Development will be hosting the Day of Prayer. This campus-wide event is dedicated to interrupting normal rhythms of life to saturate the campus in prayer. Students, staff, and faculty are invited to join in different prayer-oriented activities both in and outside chapel. Events include:
Tuesday, Mar 31: Student prayer testimonies in AfterDark Chapel
Wednesday, April 1: Kingdom Chapel, featuring Kyle Strobel
And all day Wednesday, around campus, participate in prayer prompts and activities

This Wednesday, from 7 PM to 8:30 PM, Biola will host The Rising Concert, featuring Nashville-based artist Melanie Penn with the Biola University Chorale. The Rising is an artistic retelling of the Resurrection through original songs based on the Gospels. Each piece is written as a first-hand account from the period between Christ’s burial and His ascension, inviting listeners to experience the story from the perspective of those who were there. It will be held at Calvary Chapel, and students will be able to earn chapel credits.

In addition, the Percussion Ensemble will be performing at Lansing Recital Hall at 12:30 in the afternoon. Make sure to check out this performance, which is free for all to attend!

On Wednesday, the Career Center will host the K-12 Education Fair on Metzger Lawn. It is open to all students, regardless of major, who are interested in pursuing a career in K-12 Education. You can stop by anytime between 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to meet with employers and explore your future in education.
