Welcome back to The Alighted Way we are going to jump right from the frying pan straight into the flames of a different fire. In this next episode, Colleen is sharing her true but tall dragon tales of how her dragon path began during Reiki training. This show is about pushing limits into the unknown, discovering who we are and celebrating the moments that make us feel alive. So let's get into it. Meet Colleen, quiet, observant and delightfully quirky. She describes herself as a sponge for learning. Her path hasn't been a straight one. It's been shaped by heartbreak, considerable growth and a deep reclaiming of herself. She realized that the expectations she feared most were the ones she was placing on herself. That insight opened the door to her spiritual awakening, a choice to step out of the spiritual closet and live with an open, loving heart. Meditation became her anchor in 2017 and she has practiced almost every day since, over time, that practice evolved into a calling, helping others navigate their inner world with compassion and grounded spirituality in 2022 she began guiding others in meditation and offering Reiki energy work, and presently This includes soul coaching, space clearing and facilitating women's circles on various mystical topics. Thank you for joining us in this conversation today. Welcome Colleen. So I was wondering if you would be able to take us back to where and when dragons began for you.

Okay, well, well, thank you for having me on Janelle. We really appreciate that we began, I guess in 2023 when I was doing my master Reiki course, and did a meditation there to reach out to our Reiki guide, and my dragon came in. I totally unexpected. Totally did not expect a dragon and but there he was. We met on a top of a mountain, and that's where we kind of hang out when we want to chat. He was very adamant that goes, this is, I'm your Reiki guide, but I'm also just a regular guide as well for you, and you're stuck with me now forever. So he's not going to go anywhere, yeah. So that's, that's where I first met him.

So can you tell us about him?
CF Hughes 03:28
Sure. His name is praxis, which is a word I never knew before, so I had to look it up. And its meaning is learning new things. It's all about being able to be practical within your knowledge base, like, whatever you learn, you use. And he's very funny. He's a green and gold like, he's iridescent, quite tall. He's a big, big dragon. But he's very friendly. How do you say he's very He's very kind. He's very kind, very supportive, just what you want in the guide.

Perfect.
So you've had other guides, like, how is this dragon different or similar to other guides you've had?
CF Hughes 04:17
So within my Reiki guides, with each level that I've gone up in Reiki, I've received a different guide. And then there's time when my and those guides, when they were done, they were done, they left seeing them for years now. So it's kind of nice to know that practice is going to be around for a while, like he's he's here forever now. So that's kind of cool in difference. And he's just, he's very, I can feel him when we're doing Reiki together, like he's in the room with me when we're Reiki. It's very, it's just really nice to have that support, really sweet.

So what surprised you the most about having a dragon as a guide?
CF Hughes 05:04
Completely unexpected, because I was like, I like dragons, but I've never been one of those people that had bunch of Dragon paraphernalia around the house or anything like that. So having him show up was a surprise. He's very insistent when he wants something, so he really wanted me to get a gold chain with a dragon on it, so which is not my style at all, but I got one. But then it's great I can wear it to help me, gives me a bit more confidence when I'm wearing it, and then I have another little dragon, little token piece. And then I have another crystal

dragon starting to gather, gather little bits here and there.

Yeah, that's right, but that's it. Like, I mean, I've never, I haven't gone crazy going out and getting dragons. So it just think it's really funny that I'm now a dragon person, that it just out of the blue. I just didn't completely unexpected.

I mean, because it was interesting in 2010 when we went to Bhutan together, when I had my dragon experience. So, I mean, back then, because you were in a very different place than you are now. So it's sort of like looking back, how did you feel about that experience? When I had my dragon experience,
CF Hughes 06:35
it was like, Cool. That's really awesome. Like, I mean, and I really enjoyed hearing your stories about your dragon and what was going on with your dragon. And it was just like, okay, cool. Well, that was something like, you know, Dragon things happen to other people, not me. I It was just a different path for you. And I was like, okay, cool, but good for you. I should mention they do have another dragon. Should talk about, okay, perfect. I have a little red dragon, and he's my house guardian. And I don't know his name. He never gave me a name. And, yeah, he's he hangs out on the top of the house, and he's just guarding the house. So guarding the neighborhood. It's pretty cool. But I don't see him much at all, but I do know he's there,

yeah, and I know, you know. So, like, I find that dragons can come and go, you know. So it's like, if I feel like my house needs more protection, I can definitely call, you know, unknown dragons in to come and, like, be with the house. So that's definitely something that you can do,
CF Hughes 07:49
yeah, and yeah. And that was another thing. I mean, it was, it was a very subtle thing, like, it was not, it wasn't, like, like, praxis. It was, oh, okay, cute little red dragon on the top of my house, cool, and then I didn't think about it again.

Yeah. So does Praxis have any messages that he wants to say at all around the experience? Or, you know what, whatever that looks like.
CF Hughes 08:22
Not at the moment, okay, he's, he's just being shy, I think a little shy, okay, but you know, he's being silly. Really, it's like, I don't want to right now. I don't want, okay, okay. And I remember when you first asked me to do this, and I said no, because practice, didn't think we were we knew each other well enough yet to actually give an interview about it. So, yeah, it's the first first time. But then when you ask the next time, second time, it's like, yeah, okay, we'll do it. We can do it, because I think you wanted a picture of the necklace. Yeah, you wanted to take a picture of the necklace and then put it up. And he was like, no, no, don't do that. Now I have permission to do that.

Yeah, it's all in stages. And you know, levels of readiness,
CF Hughes 09:18
Yes, that's right. Levels of readiness, yeah. And not only on my part, but on the dragon's part too, right? Like the dragon is, you know, if they're not static, they're not they're growing as well.

So, so what do you see as in communication with him? Or is it like that you talk to him. Is it that you it's more telepathic in nature your communications, or how does that look?
CF Hughes 09:49
It's like a feeling, right, like it's sometimes we can have like conversations in my head and then, but other times, like right now. Know, it was just a feeling like just this feeling around me about what he wanted to say. He'll probably cut back to you on that, put that in the show notes later.

You know, because this happened in Reiki. So where are you thinking that dragons show up for people in general. Is there a lot of people in Reiki that have the same experience? Or what do you know about that?
CF Hughes 10:32
I don't know. I really don't know. Because it's an it's it comes to the individual. And some people will talk about their guides, but other people won't. And so I haven't, I have no idea about other people in Reiki, if they have dragon guides or not. Yeah, I can't say. I can't speak for other people and on what their their guides are doing, or what they are so,

So what are some things the Praxis can do, as far as skills or abilities that surprise you.
CF Hughes 11:06
He can, every once in a while, he can turn into human and I think that's just for practicality sake, like sometimes just to be able to communicate, sometimes, some things that he needs to communicate a little bit better is he'll, he'll go into human form.

So like a shape shifter, a shape shifter.
CF Hughes 11:24
Yeah, and then he doesn't, he's just, he's very quick sometimes, if I know I've had Reiki done on myself, and he'll show up and help give Reiki on me. So there's that, yeah, no, there's that's about it. The Shape shifting is the one I've really noticed, the one I've really noticed. But, I mean, he's very talented in whatever he does.

Has he shared with you, sort of anything in the dragon realm, you know, like his family or, you know, any info around around that world?
CF Hughes 11:59
No, he hasn't. It's very much like I say, we meet on top of a mountain, and that's where we hang out, unless he's in with in a room with me. No, he doesn't share a lot about the dragon realm. But then again, I haven't asked either.

So okay, so it's something to explore in the future.

It is, it is like I say, I'm not hugely into dragons, so I'm very just learning as I go here, and some new things to try out for sure.

And so in general, what is your thinking around why you think dragons are around more now?
CF Hughes 12:35
I'm not sure, because to me, dragons represent protection as well. For me, protection and healing in particular, we do need a lot of healing. This world needs a lot of healing. And whatever form that might take. For us, it's the dragon. For other people, it might be something else in terms of healing. But I think that's maybe one of the reasons, is that the world needs healing. I think the Dragons come in and try and help out with that
