Welcome, dear listeners. Our discussion today delves into the prophecy of Hazinu, which predicted that the Jewish people would succumb to the allure of pagan idol worship. This tragic path led to the destruction of the sacred temple and the subsequent exile of the Jewish people, marking the end of the first period of the sacred temple.
The Torah, in its profound wisdom, conveys this in humanistic terms, describing a fire that burns into the depths of the netherworld. This fiery imagery further predicts the tribulations the Jewish people would face. Yet, in these poetic prophetic terms, there emerges an undeniable miracle - the survival of the Jewish people despite enduring such severe hardships.
As we proceed to verse 28, the closing verse of today's portion, we encounter the phrase kigay Avad atma. This phrase has been interpreted in two ways. One interpretation posits that it refers to the nations of the world. The alternative interpretation suggests that it refers to Israel. In either case, this verse signifies Hashem delivering the Jewish people into the hands of their enemies.
Even in the face of adversity, the Jewish people have proven their resilience and steadfast faith, overcoming obstacles and enduring hardships to uphold their identity. This enduring strength and unwavering devotion are testament to the miraculous survival of the Jewish people.
