Welcome to WORDTheatre Weekly: The Short Story Podcast where great authors and actors meet. I’m your host, Cedering Fox, WORDTheatre’s Founder & Artistic Director.
This week, we’ll be sharing the fourth and final performance from our last Manhattan event, Growing Pains. Thomas Sadoski, whom you probably recognize from HBO’s The Newsroom and CBS’s Life in Pieces, made his WORDTheatre debut performing “The Sliding Door” by Jess Row, which will appear in Jess’s short story collection, Storyknife, set to release on August 11, 2026. Jess is another author whom we scouted from the Pushcart Prize; he is a gifted writer with many impressive accolades to his name, among them the PEN / O. Henry Award, Guggenheim Fellowship and obviously Pushcart.
It was a treat to share a sneak peek of Storyknife with a great audience at a very special location in Gramercy Park, and now, with all of you! Thank you to Jess and to Ecco Press & Harper Collins for making this all possible.
Before we get started, please note that WORDTheatre holds the copyright to these recordings and no portion of anything you hear on WORDTheatre Weekly, our short story podcast, may be reproduced without permission.
And now, here is Thomas Sadoski performing “The Sliding Door” by Jess Row.
SADOSKI PERFORMS THE PIECE.
You’ve just heard Thomas Sadoski perform “The Sliding Door” by Jess Row.
