I was in a

clinical practice,

I still wanted

to be involved with that.

I always enjoyed

working with students

medical societies.

I was able to

meet several people

from the medical

schools, touro especially,

and when I found out

that they were

creating a school

out of an old hospital,

actually

in the Middletown,

New York campus

where I grew up

and lived,

I was really excited
00:02:23:13 - 00:02:24:13
to find out
00:02:24:13 - 00:02:25:13
how could I get involved
00:02:25:13 - 00:02:26:16
whatever way I could.

So that's pretty much

how it started with me

getting involved

with Touro that way.

I started as an adjunct

and I worked with

the primary care

department.

I worked with the

anatomy department.

I still

had a clinical

practice as well,

and then I was fortunate
00:02:39:00 - 00:02:39:15
to be offered
00:02:39:15 - 00:02:40:07
a full time
00:02:40:07 - 00:02:41:11
physician in the primary
00:02:41:11 - 00:02:42:06
care department,
00:02:42:06 - 00:02:43:24
and I was still able
00:02:43:24 - 00:02:45:03
to see patients as well.

I just had to narrow
00:02:46:11 - 00:02:47:07
some of their time
00:02:47:07 - 00:02:48:06
in the clinic down,
00:02:48:06 - 00:02:49:00
but I was still able

to balance all of that
00:02:50:07 - 00:02:51:20
and really just be

part of the community

that was such in

need of

having medical school

because of health

care needs.

Long wait to see doctors,

other shortages

in the area,

as well as development

of graduate

medical education

programs

and really be able

to fulfill

the needs

of the community as well.

So it was really nice

So what I find so

the medical

school is a structure

within a community.

But the community plays

such an important role

with the success

of the school,

the students.

And it was no different

We really had such
