What is ...But God?

A weekday morning devotional series written by Aaron Marcarelli and hosted by Chad McBeam

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things. As for the things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.”
Philippians 4:8-9 NASB2020
When I think about the season and even day of Thanksgiving, I never fail to struggle with the idea that for many people, it’s JUST a season, or worse, it’s just a day. Should it only be set aside that one day or that week to do what we as followers of Christ should be doing on a daily basis? Of course not!
As the apostle Paul says in the scripture above we should focus on: whatever is honorable, right, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent and worthy of praise. Not just when we feel like it, or when there is a national holiday but always.
God called us to follow Him. “You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you. This I command you, that you love one another.”
John 15:16-17
How can we bear fruit if we don’t put Him first and love one another? God implores you to seek Him first and all these things will be given. But if we don’t seek Him first, if we are not in His word, if we are not on our knees every single day then we are not truly seeking to follow Him!
Put Him first and focus on the things of heaven and He will bless you beyond measure! It is also the only way to revival and to reconciliation for our land!
Lord, I thank and praise you for your amazing love! I thank you for the free gift of grace that is manifested in eternal life with You through Christ’s death, resurrection and ascension. Help us to seek you first, to love one another and to focus on the amazing gifts you have so richly blessed us with. Help us also to sow forgiveness and reconciliation so others may see the glory of your perfect forgiving love.
I pray all this in Jesus name Amen…
Shalom blessings and press in and Press On!
