Dancing, making beekeeping videos. Pretty much the exact same time as mate. And off the back of that, we have built two very different businesses. Now, today I want to talk honestly about those decisions and what they've cost us, what they've given our families and with either of us would choose the same crazy path again. But in fairness to you and all, but you can take that away.
00:00:19:05 - 00:00:38:04
Unknown
The work, effort, and time you've put into social media on YouTube fast expresses what I've put into it. And the only reason that I gave up on it is because we just couldn't find the fun. It was as simple as that. Like we were. We were invested. You look at my honey extraction equipment and stuff. You know, it's not set up for like, little back garden beekeeping.
00:00:38:09 - 00:00:57:25
Unknown
If we look at how much my YouTube channel makes, onion ad revenue is £350 a month. That's all it makes. You're not going to live off that. Hundreds of videos that go out each week. But it's all done from one day of filming a week. Not in farming, you know. Work life balance does not exist. We make sure we go away on holiday, you know, a few times a year or whatnot.
00:00:57:25 - 00:01:19:06
Unknown
But running any business, it is a, you know, seven day a week thing. There is no way, you know, not. Today I'm joined by someone whose journey has run strangely parallel to mine. Griffith Rees, the man behind Gwyn Griffith, started making beekeeping videos. Pretty much the exact same time as me. And off the back of that we have built two very different businesses.
00:01:19:08 - 00:01:33:15
Unknown
Now, today I want to talk honestly about those decisions and what they've cost us, what they've given our families and with either of us would choose the same crazy path again. But first of all, Griff, welcome back to the podcast. It's great to have you all. How are you, my friend? Thank you very much, Lawrence. Good. Good to be back.
00:01:33:16 - 00:01:49:29
Unknown
It's been a while since I've been yet. I think it's been probably a good year, as it has. I think it's been maybe two and a half years since you were last on. Oh, wow. Oh. Oh, my time goal. Isn't it? It's good though. I watched you from afar and I see all of the success. And we're going to talk all about that today in the videos.
00:01:49:29 - 00:02:16:13
Unknown
So you do a serious beef farming and equipment business. Do you still get criticism or find that people like in the traditional beekeeping fraternity take you less seriously because you're also a YouTuber? And has that changed how your business has grown? That that's a good question. At the start, I definitely did that. Was putting yourself out there gives you opportunities, but it also takes opportunities away as well.
00:02:16:14 - 00:02:39:28
Unknown
Now it gives you way more opportunities than the not. So it's just it's a no brainer really. And definitely when you start, especially when you start doing videos, nobody knows what your plans are. Nobody knows really the scale of what you're doing. And it's there's almost, a natural human instinct to reject that new person on YouTube because they don't know nothing about you.
00:02:39:28 - 00:03:10:22
Unknown
And, you know, I was the same as you when I started. You know, the honey farm wasn't the size it was. No, I basically you have documented the whole journey from what I was in the hive. To what what we are now. Now the YouTube and the social media, profile. We've built overwhelmingly, you know, as is superseded, anything negative that has come from the back of it, but certainly at the start, you got a lot of pushback when you put yourself out that online.
00:03:10:24 - 00:03:32:09
Unknown
people don't take you seriously at the time. but, you know, at least once you put yourself on YouTube when you start documenting the journey, because that's what I've done. People tend to see, you know, where you where things got there, where it has gone now, and they see the journey year by year. But you have because I think the two of us, we probably seven years on YouTube now.
00:03:32:09 - 00:03:58:01
Unknown
Okay. Some something crazy. You know, it is crazy. Oh I've or we've stick to it. You know a video a week every week for seven years and I've probably missed, you know, I can come out with this hand. How many weeks of videos I've missed in seven years. So, you know, it's like by far I know the opportunities being on YouTube and social media outweighs and the negativity that we had at the start.
00:03:58:01 - 00:04:20:21
Unknown
But by far, I'm glad you think that I answered the question only because it does limit some opportunities, doesn't it? It means that some people don't want to work with you because of the exposure. So it is it's a double edged sword. And I think I do agree with you on the on the whole, it's vastly superior to not having YouTube or not having that position, but I just yeah, you occasionally trip over it don't you?
00:04:20:21 - 00:04:41:16
Unknown
And you think, oh that's that's frustrating because they'd be an opportunity that potentially if we didn't have the exposure. But yeah. What would you say if you could give an example of like the biggest positive thing that's come from YouTube for you, what would you say the biggest positive is like biggest opportunity that's come around solely from being on YouTube?
00:04:41:19 - 00:05:05:06
Unknown
Well, there's a there's a few. So I suppose the first tool that comes to mind is we've been able to work with forwards, you know, huge multinational car company, not, you know, unheard of for someone in, you know, West Wales to team up with that with, you know, a car and, they, we became the ultimate pro, we, we've been given a van for.
00:05:05:06 - 00:05:26:20
Unknown
What do you have to use for free? Been we've traveled all over Europe with them promoting, you know, vans and pickups with them. that would have never happened if, if we weren't on YouTube and social media. we still we say we work with Carhartt, so we got a brand deal with, Carhartt. That would have never happened if it wasn't for social media.
00:05:26:22 - 00:05:45:04
Unknown
and, you know, those things came and I never thought I'd get these brand deals. Basically, I was a Ford customer to begin with. My my pick up is all over social media. Advertise Ford and I'll get paid for it. Way before Ford knew who I was saying. Look, I have stats and I became full time on the biz.
00:05:45:04 - 00:06:04:24
Unknown
You know, I lost my codicil clause because I swear the contract was in my old job at the time. So I got a holy work outfit because you know how radical it was anymore. And, the, the, the, the branding I kind of had used on the annual, market in hard working people of the countryside, that really resonated with me.
00:06:04:24 - 00:06:20:28
Unknown
And I just started wearing hot hat and they they saw that I was wearing Carhartt one day. And, you know, years later, we send a brand ambassador for them. I was going to say, you, you've literally never taken it off, have you? I think you put it on once your first Carhartt. I'm, I it you got have you got Carhartt pajamas too.
00:06:21:00 - 00:06:42:11
Unknown
No I do I don't Lawrence between you me I don't wear pajamas I, I go for a full hour for snow pajamas, sleeping big band in my boots and, you know, mess in whatever the weather. I don't wear no pajamas. Yeah. It's so funny. Yeah, because. Because I wear, like, tracksuit bottoms and I wear a t shirt and I get into bed.
00:06:42:11 - 00:06:56:18
Unknown
I'm a bit cold. you're you're way more of a man than me, Griff. no, no, no, no, I have one of the I don't I do, I, I do, I think from when I was a kid, the way I know pajama is as as it is. Yeah. And as I say, it was the kind of thing.
00:06:56:18 - 00:07:40:27
Unknown
I mean, that's what I suppose people see me need, but business wise is help is up massively as well, especially on the beekeeping supply side. Now beekeeping is very old industry. It it hasn't progressed the, the supplies business you know globally like something like golf has. If you wouldn't look at golf or other types of sport or other types of hobbies like fishing, hunting, shooting, you know, there's been YouTube channels, there's magazines as they have progressed massively along the media road where you Tube or beekeeping is all that, only really starting off no talk where we DAC is behind all the other sports and hobbies, and by having a good profile online, I think that's
00:07:40:27 - 00:08:06:10
Unknown
quite destructive to beekeeping supply factories and manufacturers that, you know, we can, we can say sadly, the negative is obviously disagreement and they can be they can have the confidence that we're reaching the whole of the UK through the social media platforms and YouTube, rather than the old way of spending a fortune on advertisment magazines. And, you know, magazine.
00:08:06:10 - 00:08:33:21
Unknown
Advertisement. Now, is is probably not worth the money that that is that people charge for it. You know, you're not getting the kind of reach, so, you know, by having that or having that, audience on social media that does give that in itself is very, very, very valuable for the business. You know, the the way we we do YouTube, everything is for free and the probably 90% of the content is me not selling anything.
00:08:33:22 - 00:08:54:23
Unknown
It's just documenting the journey. And I think that works well because I'm not trying to sell anything to anybody most of the time. But, so when people look at that, I was I just happened to be I had it as well. Yeah. It's it's very organic, isn't it. And and you, you referenced it with the Ford Ranger, which was Ford didn't come up to you and say, hey, Griff, do you want to drive this really cool Ford Ranger around?
00:08:54:23 - 00:09:14:06
Unknown
And we'll we'll give it to you for free and send you around Europe. They said, there's this guy in Wales who has got this Ford Ranger, and it's yellow and he's driving it round, and then they connect you that way. So it's it's very organic, isn't it. There's no like for selling or anything, but it links quite nicely into my next question which is we started putting beekeeping videos online a very similar time.
00:09:14:08 - 00:09:40:07
Unknown
So when you look back, did you have a clear plan for turning that audience into a business like you said you've had done that, or were you just making it up as you go along? Like the rest of us? We include included in the I had no plan. My plan was with YouTube was we were we were doing all on Facebook, on Twitter back in the day for putting content out there basically to sell more honey, that's that's what the goal was.
00:09:40:07 - 00:10:08:03
Unknown
You know, I show everybody I got real bees in the countryside. It's not some factory in China. This is the real deal. and I thought, you know, let's do YouTube as well. We can document the whole honey farm and some people who are bees on YouTube. But it didn't add to any increase in honey sales, because if you look at the analytics and I thought, well, you know, a lot of these people are watching me on YouTube, on social media, why am I not selling anymore, honey?
00:10:08:05 - 00:10:27:13
Unknown
Because it's beekeepers that watch other beekeepers on YouTube. And there you go. They don't eat honey. They got their own honey. You. So I thought, well, you know, to build this business. And at the time, probably just like you, I was working full time as well. No, I didn't, I didn't want to be working a job. I wanted to be a beekeeper working for myself.
00:10:27:13 - 00:10:50:15
Unknown
So I, I saw, you know, YouTube. I as an opportunity to build something and then I could you know, quit my full time job and do this full time. And then it happened organically. For years we were selling beef because we were buying beef feed a pilot at a time for for my old bees, we sell a few drums or whatever on eBay on the side.
00:10:50:17 - 00:11:15:29
Unknown
You know, once Covid came, thorns was really good to us. We asked them, could we could we start telling you stuff? They said, yeah. And it just built up from that. And this was the scale we're on now with all these buildings and the solar trade agency agreements we got over the put up. That was never the plan that that genuinely an opportunity comes your way and we never say no to it.
00:11:15:29 - 00:11:36:00
Unknown
If it's a good opportunity, we never say no to all this. It was never the plan. It's just how things ended up being. Yeah, it's ended up further back there by far. Oh, definitely. And I look back and I remember the time well yeah. Because I remember the same conversations with Helen and coming in and saying, I'm going to do a YouTube channel.
00:11:36:02 - 00:11:52:22
Unknown
And, I was expecting her to be like, oh, wow, that's a brilliant idea. And she's like, what? Seriously? Like more? Okay, why why are you doing it? My YouTube channel. But who's going to watch it? And I'll tell her about beekeepers. And she said, but they're gonna they're going to have their own honey, like, Helen saw all of this and I was just still too stubborn to say no.
00:11:52:22 - 00:12:11:18
Unknown
At that point. I think I just wanted to be outside as something was, just get me outside doing something other than being inside. But I remember going and doing the first couple of videos and going on and getting the first 20 subscribers and thinking, yeah, I'm doing it. I've started. And now of kind of looking around on the first one to do this.
00:12:11:18 - 00:12:31:26
Unknown
And then I found Griff's page and Griff had about two. I'm just subscribers. And I thought, oh, that's really annoying that you beat me to it by, I reckon six weeks. When did you do your first? Because my first video would have been on that. And I know for a fact when I did mine, you were on like 200 subscribers and then I spent the next four years like working at Am.
00:12:31:26 - 00:12:51:04
Unknown
I am I caught up with Griff yet I why why have I not caught up with Griff yet? Voices do I remember? That's when you came on the scene. I remember doing it and I couldn't believe how many videos you were knocking out. I thought how how is this guy knocking out so many videos? It's unbelievable. But I was, I was I had a head to head w like that.
00:12:51:04 - 00:13:10:24
Unknown
I he's not going to catch up. He's not going to catch on. You look you look at the guy now, you know, you've probably got 100,000 more on YouTube now, even even on Instagram. I was ahead of you for you up until recently, way ahead of you on Instagram. And you've just got but insight and that's to you and all.
00:13:10:24 - 00:13:29:26
Unknown
But you can take that away. The work, effort and time you've put into social media on YouTube faster says what I've put into it. You just look at my YouTube, how many videos I've done, and then you look at how many videos you've done. It's like the maths in it. The more videos you do the movie with you get, the more subscribers you get.
00:13:30:03 - 00:13:50:06
Unknown
Well, I think you just grossed out. You know what? I do three times videos and I get that thing done faster. Yeah, I know, and try and make it as easy as possible to make each one. Yeah, it definitely got the numbers up. So we begun in very similar places. We started a YouTube channel without knowing what we were doing, trying to sell beekeepers honey, but we made very different decisions along the way.
00:13:50:08 - 00:14:21:25
Unknown
So I moved towards kind of queens and nukes. And nowadays digital education, you do a lot of nukes and stuff as well. What you've really like trebled down on bee farming equipment and physical like farm expansion. When do you think the paths began to separate? Was it like an early decision for you, or was it just kind of I, I don't know, because I, I was looking at you for years as my main competition really, I saw you was like, that's not like an enemy.
00:14:21:25 - 00:14:39:21
Unknown
But, you know, when you and and and even like profile businesses now that we compete against in different markets. So and unless you're doing that you're not going to succeed in any marketplace. You got it. You got to see who's out there, what they're doing. And you know, what could you do better or what are they not doing that you could go into.
00:14:39:23 - 00:14:59:01
Unknown
So very early on I was doing and I could, I could, I could see you were doing very well on her, very, very well on nukes. I suppose I wasn't going to be able to beat you on the, on the content side, you were just the amount of content you were pushing out was was way more than what I could physically do.
00:14:59:03 - 00:15:20:03
Unknown
But I don't know. I just think we saw the opportunity then beekeeping supplies started. We started selling a lot, lot more of it. we had the space here on the farm to, you know, to to grow into it and do it. I just saw I just saw an automatic reward in there. Really? That ties up nicely with the beekeeping.
00:15:20:03 - 00:15:39:10
Unknown
So, you know, we need a lot of bees to make a lot of honey. You need an order bees to make a lot of nukes. And if I'm sending someone a nuke, they may come. Come to us for the bee hive company. Come for us for an extractor. I just saw that, you know, it's like a circular economy or, you know, what's the word that people use vertically?
00:15:39:12 - 00:15:59:06
Unknown
Integrate in the business, really, to have everything in-house and not rely on anybody else? I learned pretty quick we need to make more money. Because even even though we say we sell by hand in, there's there's there's no way down there. We got we got different lines of honey that we sell, but I think 2024 was a bad year for honey production.
00:15:59:06 - 00:16:21:04
Unknown
And to try and buy enough honey in 2024. And I think 32 was a bad year as well. The honey just wasn't there to buy. So really it's pretty quick. You know, we need to do everything in-house. We need to employ people, get people here and do it all in-house. We don't want to rely on anybody else. And that was that's one thing we've done.
00:16:21:04 - 00:16:45:07
Unknown
Our business is no different. We've got a facility. We employ a lot of staff. You've been super efficient and you've outsourced a lot of stuff. Yours is probably more profitable. And, you know, probably makes a lot more sense. But it's very, very the two largest we follow is very, very different. It's both good businesses. I think in the modern age, outsourcing is probably what most companies do now.
00:16:45:09 - 00:17:09:21
Unknown
There's less liability, less costs. and you can scale a lot faster as well because you can scale by not employing, you know, people full time where we've gone more brick and mortar, and employing people, building storage, physically doing fulfillment and storage and everything in-house. I don't know where I think there's no there's no clear split here.
00:17:09:23 - 00:17:39:06
Unknown
I mean, you could argue we compete on hernia. You could still argue we compete on X, but that those two markets are so strong at the minute it's not flooded. There's lots of people doing it. And everybody's selling you know selling and stuff. Where beekeeping supplies is, is much, much harder. it's ruthless on price. You know, you've got budget companies coming into the market who's willing to sell at 4% margin to try and put other people out of business.
00:17:39:09 - 00:17:58:26
Unknown
You haven't got that ruthlessness in the nukes. The Queen's in the honey side of the business. It's fascinating listening to your take on it. Great, because let me give you my take on it. Yeah. Where I look, when I look back on my career, I'm kind of sitting there in an office, tapping away, running the business and just outsourcing to people knowing that I can't.
00:17:58:26 - 00:18:17:06
Unknown
I can't run a business because I've got another job. And then watching you build your farm and build your business and build the buildings, like on a followed to that dream for about five years before giving up on it. And the only reason that I gave up on it is because we just couldn't find the phone. It was as simple as that.
00:18:17:06 - 00:18:38:06
Unknown
Like we were, we were invest. Did you look at my honey extraction equipment and stuff? You know, it's not set up for like little back back garden beekeeping. We went all in on the bee farming dream, and the only reason we didn't do it is because we couldn't find the suitable farm. And then, you know, interest rates change and prices go up and you kind of thing with me kind of priced out of what, what we want now.
00:18:38:06 - 00:18:56:00
Unknown
So maybe we go the other way. Maybe we just go like don't have a farm and then keep outsourcing stuff and then but like we're missing out on stuff there. So what. Like what could we look if we were going to be just living in our house and selling something, what could we sell? And we looked into YouTube for this kind of thinking.
00:18:56:00 - 00:19:12:22
Unknown
What, like what are people asking for? And the number one thing, yeah, I had this comment come back over and over and over again, which was we really like the videos, we like the education, we like the style. We want to learn more, but it's all over the place. Like, I can't, I don't know where stuff is. It's just a big jumble.
00:19:12:25 - 00:19:41:07
Unknown
Have you got anything that's a bit more concise that can teach us about beekeeping and in for three years I was like, I need to do an online course here, because an online course just fits so nicely into my business model. And it nearly killed me, nearly broke me doing it. And it's I think it's the final departure, isn't it, where I've said why I'm traveling down on digital, online and restricting my overheads, like to the nth degree, knowing that it's not being profitable.
00:19:41:07 - 00:19:58:15
Unknown
This is this is where people don't don't see the business side of it. It's like the digital side of Batman Mountain, honey. The videos, the production of videos, of course, all of those things like they're in, they're in massive losses. That isn't massive losses. They're massive investment. Props them up each year to enable us to actually do them.
00:19:58:17 - 00:20:19:26
Unknown
And it's because we scaled and got people there, like recording us and editing and all of those costs that really add up. But we've made that decision. That's our strategy now, which is triple down on online and on digital and to try and make it profitable. But I always say, what made you so comfortable committing the other way, like committing to that infrastructure?
00:20:19:26 - 00:20:48:09
Unknown
And I'm, I'm assuming taking a mortgages and taking home loans and taking on the risk of hiring people and, and growing your business that way. How did you manage to take on so much risk, and was everyone bought into that? No, that's a good question. Now, before the honey farm became what it is now, bees and beekeepers ablaze wise, I thought when I started YouTube or maybe one third of the way through that, you know, I'm going to make 3 or 4000 pounds a month on ad revenue.
00:20:48:09 - 00:21:12:04
Unknown
And, you know, I can live off that. And the truth is that the YouTube, if you were to look at just the time I put into making the videos ad did because I do everything myself, that's making a loss. So if I, if, it might be interesting to a lot of people. So if we, if we look at how much my YouTube channel only on ad revenue is the end of the field of £50 a month.
00:21:12:07 - 00:21:37:02
Unknown
That's that's all. That's all it makes. Now, you're not going to live off that. And I easily outspend that. If I were to code my own time doing the videos. Now, what YouTube gives us though, and which is worth way more than what I put into it, is the traffic that I brings to the shop. You know that that is worth it for that alone.
00:21:37:05 - 00:22:10:27
Unknown
So I realize I'm not going to make much money on YouTube, not for while. You know, unless you go crazy following and you're not going to see this videos out. You're not getting enough sales. The generate, you know, that kind of money. And I think with beekeeping, the adverts that these marketing companies put on beekeeping videos, they're not high paying clicks where if you did videos and you were doing financial services or something, then you probably get maybe six times more per click than you would in beekeeping sector.
00:22:10:27 - 00:22:32:21
Unknown
So within quite a low, advert revenue space, beekeeping on YouTube. So, you know, I wasn't making any money on YouTube. The the YouTubers. David pays for the Starlink apps with their mobile phones and whatnot. So you know that being £50 a month is still it's a good. But I would do that for free even if we made nothing.
00:22:32:22 - 00:22:51:27
Unknown
I just thought, you know how to if for me to lose my job, then, you know, how was I going to quit my job and, and do beekeeping full time? I saw beekeeping in weirdo. This is risky. You know, I've had multiple bad years of honey from honey cops being tired. But this year, it turns out, is pretty good.
00:22:51:29 - 00:23:16:28
Unknown
but years of of bad crops. And then when you start buying honey, buying honey is not really profitable. Basically all that's doing is it's just turning the wheel. Everybody's getting paid. Honey is going in places, but it's not as profitable as the honey. You make yourself. So not the money you make. The big money in beekeeping comes from producing your own honey and sadly, not retail.
00:23:16:28 - 00:23:38:13
Unknown
Not to trade. So what? I mean by that for anybody following it means selling the honey to the end consumer. So on the website, that's not where the bulk of the profit is. No nukes can be pretty profitable as well. So I class nukes as being a high profit item as well, but at high risk items as well.
00:23:38:13 - 00:23:55:09

You know, you could get far good or you can have like we saw this winter, a lot of people losing bees. There's huge risk there. So you don't really want to employ a lot of people. And you know, the where the turning or disease comes in. And then you've got this huge liability and you've lost all your ability to make money.
00:23:55:11 - 00:24:15:17
Unknown
I saw beekeeping supplies as a safe option, believe it or not, I just saw it large. Well, I'm so used to, you know, selling product with a sell by date and selling product every. I produced different amounts of it. It's not that really a good model to to growth. And I can never you can never forecast how much honey you're going to make.
00:24:15:17 - 00:24:38:03
Unknown
So I can't forecast you know, what the revenue was going to be the BGP supplies. I saw that as a safe option. We can bake it apart from the feed. It'll never go off. It's there in the shed. We just have to sell it. I saw that being the safe option, honey. And bees being a little bit more risky, a little bit higher return.
00:24:38:03 - 00:24:58:27
Unknown
Well, if we did all of it, the YouTube I've got, you got to keep bees and I want to make little videos doing it. So that feeds the beekeepers supplies. But having these bees creates honey. And then I can sell last year to create two separate modules. So you know, even though if it is one company, you could argue that it's two different companies.
00:24:58:27 - 00:25:24:16
Unknown
You got, you got the bees under the honey and the nukes, and then you got the beekeeping supplies. I just saw the diversification there as well as the physical beekeeping training we do now. That would probably be the highest profit margin exercise we do well, everything because we've got about 10 or 30 sales, different sizes. You buy the suits once the bees are in the field, there is no extra cost.
00:25:24:16 - 00:25:50:01
Unknown
The thing is done is me for the day with 10 or 12 people multiple times a year. That's that's by far the most profitable thing we do. But it's not very scalable. You can only do so many days a year doing not where you're like. If I were to compare that with your course, you do. The course one is cost a lot of money to do, but you should have, you know, decades even of being able to sell that one bit of work.
00:25:50:01 - 00:26:13:09
Unknown
You've done well with my physical training. I physically have to be that every time. But I just thought having multiple sources of income within one industry was a safe and sensible thing to do. When we we went in all in on that then. And this is where we have huge similarity. So I've always say this to everyone, let's say what what should I do.
00:26:13:09 - 00:26:31:01
Unknown
What's my focus on? And I say focus on everything, diversify to the nth degree and work out what you enjoy and then scale the bit that you enjoy. Don't do what like I did or what you didn't. Just blindly say what b farming. I'm going to buy this massive extractor and buy all these bits and bobs and then I don't actually enjoy this.
00:26:31:01 - 00:26:45:04
Unknown
This I like is quite hard working, like proper bee farming is hard work for very high. Yeah, yeah, do me a one. Doing it for a day is hard work, but doing it as a career is very, very difficult. But this is why I like it. So we both just kind of been thrown into the deep end. And so there you go.
00:26:45:04 - 00:27:11:16
Unknown
There's a YouTube channel which you can go and it will, it will bring about some traffic that you can do some stuff with. And we've both just developed these systems, I guess you could call it and diversified. Our business is enough to go off down all these little avenues, which I think for you, someone who has to manage like infrastructure and mortgages and loans and salaries and stock coming in and stock going out, it's like a superpower, isn't it?
00:27:11:16 - 00:27:25:17
Unknown
Because if the money's not there, they can move on to can do my can. And if the candle making is finished, they can start on to gift sets. And then if everything's finished you say, well you start making frames for next year. And it's just there's always something to do. Isn't that so? Your productivity for the people is quite high.
00:27:25:19 - 00:27:44:15
Unknown
So having that big audience is really, really useful. But do you find sometimes it can pull you a bit in the wrong direction? I've certainly found that. So how do you now, Griff, decide whether something is worthwhile going onto the YouTube channel? Like do you do a video about it or not? Is there a formula or is there something that you do now?
00:27:44:21 - 00:28:11:15
Unknown
Do you change the style of videos you focus more in on specific things? Now I don't, I do, so I've almost simplified how we film YouTube. So I before I like to list these with a talk, I want to do a video on this video, not video. And I basically work through that list. But with a team, when you go on film, you will lose half a day or quarter day, even a full day filming videos I like.
00:28:11:16 - 00:28:36:03
Unknown
You know, I can't afford to lose this day away from beekeeping to to do this video. That's that's not really going to pay me. So we've evolved really and we and we basically just film what we're doing. So is we more of a vlog now. All we all we call it a day in the life of a beekeeper, where I just take the GoPro and I just film whatever we do in our day.
00:28:36:05 - 00:28:59:13
Unknown
Now, if I know we've got an interesting day coming up where we're going to do multiple sites, multiple jobs, I'll make sure we film that day instead of a boring day where we just, you know, make sure we get out of going out for dinner or something. So I try my best to have interest in videos. The beauty of it, when you're just doing what you do in even, it's easier for number one, which is good evening.
00:28:59:16 - 00:29:20:28
Unknown
And you're going to see stuff which is bad, you know. So we try to get the two of them in and then just talking about that, you know what we're seeing what we now going to do. And I think people see and act in real life not scripted or anything. Just off off the back of the GoPro. I think people get huge value out of seeing that.
00:29:21:00 - 00:29:41:12
Unknown
Now, I'm not saying I'm right, not at the Nord's. The mistakes. You know, I've spent a lot of time with be farmers who are way more advanced than me, and I've taken a lot of that information and knowledge and how they do things on board and I've turned that into our business as well. I just put that out there that there's nothing to sell on.
00:29:41:12 - 00:30:01:06
Unknown
Most these videos just fail me. What I'm doing because I think for me, there's a pressure on you. You probably feel it every week. You have to put a video out on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday to come around. And I still haven't done a video. And you feel the pressure? you know, Sunday night people are going to be logging on YouTube looking for a good video on.
00:30:01:06 - 00:30:21:08
Unknown
It's not going to be there. That's huge pressure to me that that gift, you know, we got we got to do a YouTube video, but it's all ad lib video. There's there is no organization now this winter I'm gonna try and be a bit more organized. I want to do, and like drop like a midweek video of some of the kit we use in the running.
00:30:21:08 - 00:30:42:21
Unknown
I know that it's being used, and we do like a plot, a feature plot, a video on something, but it really is. It isn't. There's no organizational master plan behind my videos. It's literally whatever we do in Stock Week, we we just we just pick the GoPro and roll. When I fail. Nowadays, there's two people we're just being paid that day.
00:30:42:24 - 00:31:01:09
Unknown
So like, I can't afford for two people to have their day messed up for a YouTube video. So I've got to film it as we do in something. Otherwise, if it's if it's just me in a video stream that on a Saturday when nobody's in work. And this is where the paths of diverge, isn't it? Because I used to zactly the same.
00:31:01:09 - 00:31:17:22
Unknown
Yeah, exactly the same position. And I still find myself frustrated at the moment, which is like yesterday I went to do a honey extraction and I didn't film it, and I feel like, oh, I could be. I could be talking now, I could be doing a video and I just have to stop myself doing it now and say, like, got my own videographer.
00:31:17:22 - 00:31:37:09
Unknown
Who would paying just do the videos when he's here? And then the stress is weird, isn't it? Because not only have you got a pacing his day right, and you've got to get them edited, then I've got to do all of my work, like thumbnails, and there's loads that goes into the videos and a huge investment in them in terms of money and then negligible payback, like hardly any money coming back into the stress is there.
00:31:37:12 - 00:32:02:22
Unknown
But it does. It comes back to that traffic generation of traffic and that's that's ultimately why we're we're doing the YouTube videos in the first place. This is my favorite question of the day. So YouTube gives people like I'm usually close view of our businesses, but we can control it. We can control that. Edit if somebody else had complete control of your footage, like for holder, what would be the see that you normally edit out?
00:32:02:24 - 00:32:21:23
Unknown
good question. No, that would be there. I try my best not to show you the locations, the exact locations, because I'm very aware of how you theft. So that's one thing that they'd be able to see is exactly where we are, where the minute we're filming now, we're just in a field somewhere. Nobody really knows where we are.
00:32:21:23 - 00:32:43:14
Unknown
So. So they would they would see that which we do keep private. we don't say where our abilities are anywhere, but as would they see that a site a lot more tight, you know, because it's not just me beekeeping. So, there's two there's two of us there. So apiary tidiness is a lot, lot better. But depending on what time of year they come, you may get in.
00:32:43:16 - 00:33:09:28
Unknown
It is overgrown massively because there's dead those all year round, you know, even go to something in midsummer. And if they're not really queen and it's being robbed out and no knocked out there for people to see all the time, and a lot of people are nervous of showing, I thought, all this hive is dead and it had four supers on it, but you know, the swarm that defended the Queen or whatever, you know, once you once you go into the hundreds of colonies, you can't manage them the way you would with ten.
00:33:10:00 - 00:33:31:23
Unknown
So, you know, I'm not scared at all the losses type of thing. I think that's, a transparent thing to show. I don't really hide anything apart from the locations, really. I show everybody what treatment I use, you know, I know there's there's a big treatment free movement out there. I actively talk against that. you know, they they don't I don't agree with me.
00:33:32:00 - 00:33:48:08
Unknown
I don't agree with them. I know, I know about that. you know, I hope I upset that maybe I'm not exactly why you keep a lot of Buckfast bees visit is, a big native movement out there. I'm not against that movement, but, you know, don't come and tell me what bees to keep. I'm not telling you what what bees to keep.
00:33:48:09 - 00:34:07:04
Unknown
I'm pretty. Pretty open about it like that, really. You know, I'll defend. I'll defend what we do. There's not there's nothing we do, which is great. There's no gray area, really? Because once you employ people, then you can't hide anything anymore. Because if we if we were do something and say, I know, say something dodgy or something. Someone's in the grass, you up?
00:34:07:09 - 00:34:28:14
Unknown
Eventually it's gone. You know, there's, where we just like, you know, we're above the radar, if you know what I mean. They squeeze. You see that yellow truck driving around? They know. You know, refreezes in that area somewhere. The mask, you know, the bee, Inspector. There's no way at all my sights, would have had. It'd is impossible for someone like me to keep the sites away from from the abyss.
00:34:28:16 - 00:34:48:06
Unknown
Because there'd be beekeepers in the area telling them where am I? Sites, that type of thing. So we we're fully transparent as any kind of company is, you know, maybe at the start, when I was just me, not every site was on base, whatever. But no, we can't afford for it not to be. You have to be squeaky clean when it comes to all things like that.
00:34:48:06 - 00:35:10:22
Unknown
But I'll tell you what, there's tons of things that I hide in my videos. The number one thing is not being nice. Get my words out. So I start talking because sometimes I have a script and sometimes I've got a teleprompter, and sometimes I get annoyed and then I just won't get my words out. As people who members of Hive Key will see this every Saturday morning on the live streams, I'll stick a 30 day free link in the comments below, but I get frustrated.
00:35:10:22 - 00:35:28:24
Unknown
Then. Yeah, and I'll get angry. And if I set myself up for too much of an unrealistic day, like my stress comes from, timings and putting too much stuff in. So if I'm behind or late or stressed, then I can't get my words out, which makes me even more angry. And then I'll get in a huff and a bit, oh, I just get like really frustrated like that.
00:35:28:29 - 00:35:43:09
Unknown
And no one ever sees it on the YouTube videos. They, it happens when I don't answer the phone anymore because I'm just the worst person to answer the phone for the bee's knees. But, you know, it's like you do your YouTube videos and you're talking about this, and you all nice and friendly, and then you answer the phone and it's just like, I like.
00:35:43:12 - 00:35:59:14
Unknown
And they're like, oh, hi. That and and honey. And you say, yeah, I can help. And I say, is, is that orange? And you say, oh yeah, hi, I'm hello, how can I help? And they say, are you sure? Are you sure that as long as you sound very miserable, I say, oh hi MSL yeah. That's you, so I do.
00:35:59:14 - 00:36:15:28
Unknown
I'm naturally kind of it's a, it's not Jekyll and Hyde, but I do I have like an on screen persona that I'm really trying to get away from. Do you have that as well. Yeah. Because for me much the previously it was me talking like a slug and then I've developed this. Oh yeah, you talk like that and that's not how I talk.
00:36:15:28 - 00:36:34:21
Unknown
You know, I'll just talk quite normally like this. So I'm trying to come back a little bit. You doing the same the all videos I think. And it's anything's on screen whether it's on YouTube or TV. You have to be more for it for people to watch it. Yeah. Because if you look at both our videos at the start and.
00:36:34:21 - 00:37:01:22
Unknown
Oh, okay. Felicia, welcome to Green English is here. We're going to go through him. No, nobody wants it. And if you watched watch TV you newsreaders presenters they're not like this you know. So you you have to be an elevated version of his head for, for camera. Now that was the difference between my cam and your camera. Is that with me there's no scripted anything way yours is, you know, professionally edited, professionally script, no teleprompter.
00:37:01:24 - 00:37:17:08
Unknown
I haven't. If I had that, I wouldn't be able to do YouTube if I had to read or learn a script. So I to do a lot of public speaking, I you would all off the top of my head. If I were to write it down, I'd mash the whole thing up. It got to be true for me.
00:37:17:12 - 00:37:36:08
Unknown
And that's how GoPro for YouTube is. One one tick. If you watch my video in this hot, there's hardly a video that it. Once I turn the button, that's the cut. And then then so. So when I do YouTube, the only bit I edit is a little bit at the start and a little bit at the end. Okay.
00:37:36:10 - 00:37:52:26
Unknown
So then I tie them in but nothing is scripted. But but that's, that's the reason I can do it is because it's not scripted and it just comes out okay. So when I upgraded like when I, when I got Zain in and we upgraded cameras and we got a good videographer, the sound and everything, I watched the first three videos.
00:37:52:26 - 00:38:10:04
Unknown
I was really excited about watching them, and I watched the first few and I just it became so apparent what the weakest link was, and it was me. And this is what wraps the pressure up, because you think we've got a gear like Netflix quality videographer, an editor, and then just me waffling. So, you know, I have to put a little bit more effort into it.
00:38:10:05 - 00:38:25:04
Unknown
And it does it wraps up the stress, but I do see it as like a bit of a challenge as well. And I quite like that challenge. And one of the things, one of the things that I it hurts my brain even thinking about it again. But some of the things you have to do on a teleprompter. Yeah.
00:38:25:05 - 00:38:40:22
Unknown
You just can't not doing it on a teleprompter. So you set the teleprompter up on a tripod and you start reading into it. And I've got quite good at reading into a teleprompter without people realizing, but it's a bit dead. The footage on a tripod is a bit dead if you're reading into it like a newsreader. So we bought this little mini teleprompter.
00:38:40:22 - 00:39:03:04
Unknown
Yeah, that Zain holds on his gimbal. And then we walk these routes through the apiary with Zayn walking backwards. Yeah, and me walking forwards towards the camera, talking, walking, not tripping over stuff and reading the teleprompter script at the same time. Was not trying to look like you're reading it, and it is so difficult. Like you have to train your mind to be able to do it.
00:39:03:04 - 00:39:24:14
Unknown
And it's nice, like, I like it's like brain training, but it's so, so frustrating at the same time. And then for me, I just unless we've got the times we messing around with it, then I find myself getting stressed. So I have rules now just to make filming days nice. We just had a low stress filming days. Dedicate the whole day to it and if the video flops, which a lot of the time it does at least I've had a nice day out filming that's come on.
00:39:24:15 - 00:39:46:29
Unknown
But but, but one thing you have to do is now your videos is next level professional. You can compare my YouTube channel with yours anymore. The quality of the footage, the sound. Yours is structured professionally. Mine is mine is shooting from the hip, you know. Yeah, but I don't think it detracts. I don't think it detracts at all from your channel, though.
00:39:46:29 - 00:40:12:07
Unknown
And this is the thing where there is strategy, like there's there's a plan behind all of this. This isn't just funneling lots of money into videos that aren't doing well, just so I can go and have a bit of a jolly up in the forest like we extract from that filming day. Effectively unlimited content like unlimited reels, unlimited pictures, unlimited lead magnets, unlimited PDF guys that we can chop up the whole day into 20 longform videos if we want.
00:40:12:12 - 00:40:38:08
Unknown
With a five minute talking head. Everything's filmed in eight K, so it can kind of be cut both ways like that. So it's the main video might not do that well. And then we split our channel out. So we have five social media channels. Now it's not just about I saw three YouTube it here. So there's there's Black Mountain honey there's 14 day beekeeper, there's hive Q there is the silent beekeeper, and then there's the Bees and Natasha Page.
00:40:38:08 - 00:40:54:14
Unknown
So they've all got YouTube channels, all Instagram channels, they've all got tick tock channels, their Facebook channels, and there's 20 channels there that each have a video. They each have a video per week, and they each have a reel per day, hundreds of videos that go out each week. But it's all down from one day of filming a week.
00:40:54:19 - 00:41:17:11
Unknown
Yeah. So how many people are behind the scenes that Nick in that possible? You think of TV in it like like a series on Discovery Channel, whatever your point of like five feet off episodes a week a week. Yeah, there's a lot of people there, but there's a lot of efficiency there as well. We really lean heavily into AI, which I know is a controversial subject and topic.
00:41:17:17 - 00:41:40:25
Unknown
We do. We get we get a lot of efficiency through AI. So we do a lot of planning, do a lot of planning at the beginning. So when we turn off on the day, I know what I need to film. I know all the bits that we need to film and scripts that are in there. We know the lead magnet, so we know the adverts, we kind of know everything, so we can film it in a way that you get maximum extraction out of it, and then AI does a lot of that kind of legwork, you know, not really.
00:41:40:25 - 00:42:05:23
Unknown
Not a creative work just for getting getting the videos chopped up into all the little bits and getting them to where they need to go at certain times. That's a huge amount of work. Like a ton of resource goes into just doing little bits like that. So there the efficiencies that we've managed to get and what I like is that when you build a system, if you're constantly iterating and improving it for efficiency, that efficiency compounds and you get to a point where you can you can do.
00:42:05:23 - 00:42:26:04
Unknown
What we do now is you deliver a crazy amount of videos for not that much effort. And it's just like a system that keeps on going. So going back to the beginning like this is this is what we built. This is like our farm. This is our big, huge beekeeping supplies company with all stock like, oh, digital efficiency is the thing that kind of keeps us going.
00:42:26:11 - 00:42:49:06
Unknown
Is that impressive? Because I used to be able to watch all that flow. No, I can't keep keep up. This is so much of it. Yeah, but, So bees. Bees in that I don't know when I seen a pop up on, on my social media feed. That's probably telling you then probably it that like a joint channel or does Natasha do the videos purely for black market honey.
00:42:49:09 - 00:43:12:04
Unknown
So so we we own so we said we only paid 5050 like a blogger. The idea for us was just to give us like an alternative, an alternative optic, like an alternative lens into beekeeping, as opposed to me saying, I've done this for ten years, here's all the mistakes that I've made. I wanted the fresh angle, which is, I don't know what I'm doing here.
00:43:12:04 - 00:43:29:13
Unknown
Like, I'm a bit lost and I need some help because it's it's very different for the way that YouTube perceives that. So we always want to kind of have that different angle. And then I saw Natasha doing her BJ Sherriff videos and just what was she's like she's like, she talks really well about beekeeping. So I messaged her and said, do you fancy, do you fancy like collaborating on a page?
00:43:29:13 - 00:43:49:01
Unknown
And she was and she was offer and it's good and the most nice with that. That page there is is completely different. It means you can have different creative ideas and the access is a very different demographic, very different audience, much younger, much more female driven. Like if you look at your analytics, I bet you it's 90% men.
00:43:49:06 - 00:44:06:25
Unknown
Is that it is. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So for for the business. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. So we kind of it was targeted, which is we're operating in this demographic with this audience. How can we how can we unlock another one kind of for the longer term. And now we're iterating that. And this is it's exciting to see to see where that might end up.
00:44:06:26 - 00:44:28:24
Unknown
Yeah. It's funny I didn't know you know you you were joined on. This is very, very cool I thought was well I said, you know, I can't go on Facebook without seeing your face these days. So whatever adverts you're running in the background obviously were. Yes. Yeah. It's there's a lot going on on Facebook. The numbers on Facebook are just a, just a bit silly though.
00:44:28:24 - 00:44:47:01
Unknown
Like they, we rode a wave I think on an algorithm and got got some good reach. but yeah, it continues to glow. I but know especially for you. Hey Griff, we both built families whilst building our businesses, and I would say that's probably where I've got the most respect for you and anger at, because that on its own is hard.
00:44:47:01 - 00:45:05:18
Unknown
Yeah. Like having having a child is hard. Having two is, like, exceptionally difficult. I like to think that you get some economies of scale when you get to three, but from someone who's not got to me, I couldn't comment on that one. But what has the growth that you've achieved as a family, given your family? And more importantly, what is it taken away from them?
00:45:05:20 - 00:45:28:26
Unknown
well, they take it away. It's quite easy. We all we're always in work, you know, we live on site, which is what every farmer does. Whether you're milking cows or you being sheep. You live where you work. We can't go home and leave the work behind. So I work every day, even on the weekends. No, I may not work all day on the weekends, but I work every single day.
00:45:29:00 - 00:45:47:23
Unknown
I know that is that is a sacrifice. And people talk about work life balance. It doesn't exist. No, not not in farming. You know, work life balance does not exist. We make sure we go away on holiday, you know, a few times a year or whatnot. But running any businesses, it is a no seven day a week thing.
00:45:47:23 - 00:46:08:10
Unknown
You know, there's there is no way at all not not for me. But yeah. So that's quite easily, you know, we might have sacrifice that. But at the same time because work is home most of the time we're here. You know, if the kids are home, we're here. We're not stuck. I might be on the bees in the day or whatnot, but, you know, like what you've done with the videos.

We structure the beekeeping. So the beekeeping is done between 9 and 5. So I'm not on the bees outside of 9 to 5. So I'm always home after five and I'm always home before 9:00. What's nice about what the kids have had? Because we're at home, we we've been able to raise a family now on holiday. For the last two kids, we haven't had maternity leave.
00:46:30:04 - 00:46:51:27

you know, there's no working in. It's in a council being given nine months of oil, paid for full pay for nine months. We haven't had that, you know, we've we've lost out on that. But I suppose the bonus of that is because we had no option but to work through maternity and paternity. We've built this business with the kids, and they fully understand it, and they don't know any different.

But I know people look at us and it's a massive sacrifice for someone in a normal job. It is, but within the farming community is no different. The dairy farmers, the farmers, the the meat farmers, that's just how farming is to live. This lifestyle comes sacrifices but is well worth it. You know it's not easy. If you want to run a bee farm and a beekeeper supplies.
00:47:15:02 - 00:47:34:01

So what I got, it's seven days a week, and even when you back in the home, there's there's probably a tax you as well. There's a mountain of emails to do. Every social media platform is all marked read, you know, 50 messages on every single platform that I've got to go and comment back to, you know, try to deal with stuff.
00:47:34:01 - 00:47:52:15

That level of work never ends. And that normally happens between 5 and 10:00. So the outwards we work is is astronomical. But people don't see the was that that we put in. But that and that is a cycle that is a sacrifice that if you want to be successful within your own business, you do not get it by working just full time.
00:47:52:15 - 00:48:11:09

You you go to work all the time. Yeah. You can't you can't switch off because there's kind of like worrying about something or thinking about something that is kind of bugging you a little bit, but I, I'm 100% with you. I wouldn't stop it. For the world is tough, is hard work. But I think what it gives the family over the long term is, is something so valuable.
00:48:11:09 - 00:48:24:25

And it's and it's not it's not the money, it's not the sales, it's not the security. It's the little things for me, like being able to go like up to the school at half nine to watch, like a little play or a performance or something. And I think if I was in the office, I wouldn't be able to do that.
00:48:24:25 - 00:48:42:24

I might be able to do one once a year or twice a year. But just being present, like around, either at home or kind of off at the forest or just like I'm never that far away is really, really nice. And you get to spend like a lot more time with your with your wife and with your children.
00:48:42:24 - 00:48:57:27

And I guess for some people that might not be a good thing. But if you if you get on with your life and you get with your kids and like you love them, you have a good relationship. I don't think there's anything better. Is that no one, you know, we've work hard and I want the kids to to see that work ethic.
00:48:57:27 - 00:49:25:13

And I want that work ethic to be in them. I was never academic in school, you know, a little bit dyslexic. We've achieved success through hard work. Nothing else. Just by doing more. I was than most people that most people are not willing to do. So I've not had the full scale. I'm not brainy or anything. It's, just, you know, raw, dogged my way through business basically by making loads of mistakes and just just working all year was into the sun.
00:49:25:13 - 00:49:46:26

And I'm still I'm still doing highlights just as bad on the images in the night is what I am. You know, she's she's on a laptop and sometimes you go orders and turn everything off and we just watch film, turn it all off. Yeah. I don't think you give yourself enough credit, because I think a lot of people look at what you built and they kind of they, they see the effort and they see the family unit and stuff.
00:49:46:26 - 00:50:06:13

But there is there's a strategy, there's a grand master plan there. And I think the way that you've you've rode that wave of uncertainty and adapted and changed and built it into what it is now is, is really, really impressive. A lot of people look that so, so congratulations and well done. That was my final question. So if we could go back to where we were both starting out, I'm on 20 subscribers.
00:50:06:14 - 00:50:27:11

You're 200 knowing where the decisions would lead. Yeah. So you've got your insight from now what would you do differently and what would you do the same? One thing I would have done sooner was go all in a lot faster. There were took me years to leave my, you know, my full time job. I went to four day week to three day week.
00:50:27:11 - 00:50:47:17

I was very, very slow to build the number. I hit about 70. And then everything, almost stagnated a little bit. And I was I was scared to go full time into it. Now, if I had a time back again, I would I would double down. I've gone into it a lot faster way, way more BS stood away, you know, just just gone for it.
00:50:47:17 - 00:51:06:27

The consequences of failing is what fired me. And, you know, I could quit. Quit a good paying job and lose everything if this didn't work. You know, I was very, very bad. One of the hardest things I've ever had to do was quitting my job. And even though the business was doing, you know, doing okay when I did quit my job for the year, for three months, I struggled to sleep.
00:51:06:27 - 00:51:28:18
Unknown
I and massive stress thinking I done that, I did the wrong decision. I quit, my job gave up. And everybody, everybody I you talk to, I'm going to I'm going to quit my job in the council. Everybody tells you, oh, I don't like this pension. Sick pay. I said, that's a job for life is don't, don't, don't don't be doing that.
00:51:28:21 - 00:51:47:17

And that puts the doubt in you see people other people put in their own doubt in you. And that took a while to get over and finally had the courage to, to pocket in. And, you know, the truth is, if you don't take the risk, somebody else will and they'll take what you want. Yeah, I love that.
00:51:47:21 - 00:52:05:26

And I would say again, very similar. That's probably my biggest regret that you had was actually paying job than me. It was a difficult job to leave. It was a very, very difficult job to leave yet. And it supported it was supporting two of us at the same time. So for some of that, Helen wasn't working and my salary was supporting both of us.
00:52:05:29 - 00:52:25:00

But since leaving and since seeing how the business has grown with just somebody working on it, because no one was ever working on it, it was just it was just kind of spinning plates to keep things moving. I look back the same, and I think I should have done it ten years earlier. Like what was wasted twice the time I got about that.
00:52:25:02 - 00:52:43:26

But I have. And so it's as if someone is in you, 20 years old watching it. Just go all in that then. Then don't mess about. Don't don't wait as long they way you just left. You wait for someone that's like Lawrence to come in and do this. Take what you want so you love it. Go all the way.
00:52:44:01 - 00:53:07:05
Unknown
You go all the way in. And just because the likes of me and Lawrence Richard. Well, we're on YouTube. We're not going to be there forever. We had an older there's there's going to be there's a young demographic coming into beekeeping if you're young, even with a few hives, if you're thinking of YouTube, thinking of social media, you need to get on it because it takes years for it to grow.
00:53:07:07 - 00:53:33:00

And, you know, 90% of people that start YouTube, they're not going to follow it through. They're not going to do this at seven plus years, like what me and artists have done. They're going to quit after they've hit, you know, a thousand subscribers four years in and and they're not even making 40 grand a month. People are going to quit to that period of time where you need to just keep going forward for what looks like no gain, but all of a sudden, the gain will just come.
00:53:33:00 - 00:53:55:26

Yeah, and it comes. It comes kind of out of nowhere, doesn't it? You don't realize it creeping up on you, Griff. I've had a wonderful time talking to you. For anybody who is watching this video and wants to get into beekeeping, if you don't want to spend 149 pounds on a course, I have put together a really cool email sequence, a 14 day email sequence that will turn you into a very educated beekeeper, and I'll stick that in the link below this video.
